The hotel is a peaceful spot compared to the Hard Rock Hotel nearby, it also has semi direct access to the beach (main hotel is separated from the beach by a quiet road). The beach was clean and well maintained. It is a red-flag beach - the water was choppy and there were signs up warning guests about jelly fish, so we just paddled in the water with our feet. This would be the case for any hotel on the Desaru coast. We checked in for 3 nights and they gave us 2 complementary passes to the waterpark attached to the Hard Rock Hotel, which was good, but considering we were a party of 3 (2 adults and a child), it would have been good if we didn't have to ask for the additional ticket at check-in (we were originally told we would have to pay for the 3rd ticket, but I did say our reservation was for 3 people and they kindly brought up the third ticket along with the bags). The hotel is undergoing renovation at the moment so not all their amenities/facilities were available (only 1 of their 3 pools were open). It would have been good to know this at the time of booking. Food was really overpriced and you are a captive audience as there is not much nearby to walk to (you can drive out to get some food), so thank goodness for Grab. A bug bear of mine was that we had to pay for parking (RM5 per day), guests should really be parking for free. The breakfast buffet is extensive and the food is good in general. Generally the staff are polite and courteous and it was a good few days break.

Staff was fantastic ! service was great. . just that the property was not well maintained . the pool area was dirty and there there was algae on the pool floor . skipped pool coz it doesn’t look clean . the spa was also very full. there wasn’t much to do except strolling around . so facilities were average .

It was a comfortable and enjoyable stay over the long weekend. Service and staff were good throughout. Some things to improve on : 1. The information made available to guests on hotel facilities and services. Not all information is clearly stated and a lot of times we had to call the front desk or ask the staff we see to make enquiries. 2. The weather was scorching hot when we were there and we had drinks at the lobby bar. A suggestion to install more fans or a large ceiling fan as it was too humid and stuffy to sit there and enjoy our drinks. 3. The view from the infinity pool is now spoiled by the roof of a new structural addition (a new pool and bar) at the front of the hotel which was a great pity. So it should no longer be known as the infinity pool.

It’s a good resort for couple of days at reasonable cost. Many different pools are available for children. Expect high cost for food and spa inside hotel . Since it’s a resort more engaging activities for adults will be good , though there are few available.

hotel with fabulous staff. They work very hard to be cheerful all the time. Well trained in customer service. The spicy oysters at kediri restaurant is a must. Beach was clean and safe. Gym is decent. Massage was ok ok .

Really liked the bedrooms and access to the beach. Staff were friendly although not always able to accommodate requests as the hotel was so busy. The hotel was super busy over the holiday weekend and there simply are not enough facilities to accommodate. Breakfast areas were overflowing. No where to sit. Evening dining also overflowing and reservations not available until beyond 9:30pm. Staff very overwhelmed and quality of food poor. Pool area too small for number of guests. Rooms very noisy - children running up and down corridors and screaming. The beach and beach bar was the best place to be to gain some respite from the extremely busy and noisy hotel. The access to the beach was great and the staff at the beach bar very friendly. There is construction underway, although that was not a bother. The spa facilities were really good and we very much enjoyed our treatments. I expect this is a lovely place to stay on a non holiday weekend. However, it's unlikely we will return given our experience. While this hotel carries the Westin name, it was not the typical Westin experience.

Hotel was relatively new, so everything is still in pretty good condition. The buffet spread for breakfast was pretty good with many cuisines represented. Not sure about lunch at the hotel as we were out most of the time, but there was a Prego for those who like Italian food. It has a seriously good gym complete with a TRX cable system and a nice spa, priced much cheaper than most similar one in SG. The staff was fantastic. I misplaced my Apple AirPods at breakfast, and they kept it for me when I retraced my steps. The concierge Azam (not sure I got it right, but he is slim bespectacled) was so helpful that he organised so many things with my wife (including my birthday celebrations) and kept tabs on us to ensure that we did not miss a bus or an appt. Every staff we encountered was so nice and helpful. This is by far the best experience I had staying anywhere in Malaysia. With most prices of things in Ringgit, coupled with the strong SGD against the MYR, there cannot be a better nearby option for Singaporeans to have a holiday. I think it's a great place to chill for couples and also those with toddlers. I see loads of SG cars, but the attraction for me if that I bypass the Causeway jams with a 1.5 hr ferry ride from TMFT and complete with a free 15 min shuttle to the hotel from the Desaru jetty.

Service from all staff was excellent! Housekeeping was prompt and did a immaculate cleaning up everyday. All despite it was full occupancy for the few days we were there. There was complimentary bike rental for an hour which allowed us to cycle around. Lift broke down once when we were there but was resolved quickly. Renovation was going on but did not affect our stay at all. Look forward to the new amenities should we return. All in all, a great stay and will come back!

Nothing but superb service from Marriot Group!!! Blown away by the exceptional service, hospitality by EVERYONE in the hotel. Super smiley, friendly and do their best to deliver and make your hotel stay a great one. Check-in was fuss-free and gave me a upgrade to sea view room (thank you! I had 2 nights of good sleep listening to the ocean), morning breakfast was SUPERB!!! So delicious and many staff around to clear your plates fast. Very attentive and saw many of them gave routine checks on the food, spoon and coffee machine. EXCELLENT Love the hotel room, luxurious king bed and huge bathroom. Pristine clean sparkling and spotless. zero grime and love the White tea soaps and shampoo. Also when i went to the check in counter and request for more welcome drinks, you guys gladly oblige! Also thank you Concierge for arranging the Firefly tour and very prompt to keep updating us on confirmation and even when there was a slight jam and thus they came 15m late. Excellent place, clean, spacious, top-notch service. Beach was also SUPER CLEAN! Thank you Westin!

The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are also huge and lovely to use. The staff are impeccable in their welcome and service quality. The restaurants provide superb food at all meals. The only trouble is that the total seating of the restaurants is far short of the number of guests, leading to long queues at breakfast and the need to book tables well in advance to ensure you get a spot. At breakfast, they eventually opened up Prego retaurant and the function room to cater for the breakfast crowd.

water heater was not working initally. When finally fixed on the 3rd day, water was only lukewarm Housekeeping was poorly done. Found a trail of ants from balcony to the carpet AFTER housekeeping had supposedly clean the room. We did not order room service at all. The only thing housekeeping did was make the beds & change towels. Service staff did not take the initaitve to put fly-swatters when there was a buffet going on at the main hotel dining area. guests had to repeatedly ask for one when even there were already so many houseflies

I am not particular when it comes to hotel stay and this is the first time I ever rate a hotel due to ultimate disappointment 1 the whole floor is very wet unless aircon is set 21 or lower, due to humidity? Can't attach the photobut It looked like the floor was just mopped. I am not particular when it comes to hotel stay and this is the first time I ever rate a hotel due to ultimate disappointment 1 the whole floor is very wet unless aircon is set 21 or lower, due to humidity? The rooms at The Westin Desaru are spacious and beautifully designed. The balcony views of the sea were simply breathtaking. The breakfast buffet was a delight, offering a wide variety of options for all tastes. The highlight of our stay must be the pristine private beach. Overall, our stay was a wonderful experience.

The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are also huge and lovely to use. The staff are impeccable in their welcome and service quality. The restaurants provide superb food at all meals. The only trouble is that the total seating of the restaurants is far short of the number of guests, leading to long queues at breakfast and the need to book tables well in advance to ensure you get a spot. At breakfast, they eventually opened up Prego retaurant and the function room to cater for the breakfast crowd.

☺️Comfort and leisure and nice hospitality staff and great breakfast spread. 😔The sound insulation in the room is poor kept hearing some thumping sound made from outside corridor. It was continuously going on throughout the night disturbing our sleep as well.

Service from all staff was excellent! Housekeeping was prompt and did a immaculate cleaning up everyday. All despite it was full occupancy for the few days we were there. There was complimentary bike rental for an hour which allowed us to cycle around. Lift broke down once when we were there but was resolved quickly. Renovation was going on but did not affect our stay at all. Look forward to the new amenities should we return. All in all, a great stay and will come back!

Nothing but superb service from Marriot Group!!! Blown away by the exceptional service, hospitality by EVERYONE in the hotel. Super smiley, friendly and do their best to deliver and make your hotel stay a great one. Check-in was fuss-free and gave me a upgrade to sea view room (thank you! I had 2 nights of good sleep listening to the ocean), morning breakfast was SUPERB!!! So delicious and many staff around to clear your plates fast. Very attentive and saw many of them gave routine checks on the food, spoon and coffee machine. EXCELLENT Love the hotel room, luxurious king bed and huge bathroom. Pristine clean sparkling and spotless. zero grime and love the White tea soaps and shampoo. Also when i went to the check in counter and request for more welcome drinks, you guys gladly oblige! Also thank you Concierge for arranging the Firefly tour and very prompt to keep updating us on confirmation and even when there was a slight jam and thus they came 15m late. Excellent place, clean, spacious, top-notch service. Beach was also SUPER CLEAN! Thank you Westin!

water heater was not working initally. When finally fixed on the 3rd day, water was only lukewarm Housekeeping was poorly done. Found a trail of ants from balcony to the carpet AFTER housekeeping had supposedly clean the room. We did not order room service at all. The only thing housekeeping did was make the beds & change towels. Service staff did not take the initaitve to put fly-swatters when there was a buffet going on at the main hotel dining area. guests had to repeatedly ask for one when even there were already so many houseflies

Impressed by the amenities and the hospitality provided by the staff upon arrival and continue to receive hospitable treatments following by and during our 2 days stays here. Westin is also very near to desaru beach and water park which is a great plus point. In general very impressed with westin and will definitely recommend westin to family and friends.

Really liked the bedrooms and access to the beach. Staff were friendly although not always able to accommodate requests as the hotel was so busy. The hotel was super busy over the holiday weekend and there simply are not enough facilities to accommodate. Breakfast areas were overflowing. No where to sit. Evening dining also overflowing and reservations not available until beyond 9:30pm. Staff very overwhelmed and quality of food poor. Pool area too small for number of guests. Rooms very noisy - children running up and down corridors and screaming. The beach and beach bar was the best place to be to gain some respite from the extremely busy and noisy hotel. The access to the beach was great and the staff at the beach bar very friendly. There is construction underway, although that was not a bother. The spa facilities were really good and we very much enjoyed our treatments. I expect this is a lovely place to stay on a non holiday weekend. However, it's unlikely we will return given our experience. While this hotel carries the Westin name, it was not the typical Westin experience.

Hotel was relatively new, so everything is still in pretty good condition. The buffet spread for breakfast was pretty good with many cuisines represented. Not sure about lunch at the hotel as we were out most of the time, but there was a Prego for those who like Italian food. It has a seriously good gym complete with a TRX cable system and a nice spa, priced much cheaper than most similar one in SG. The staff was fantastic. I misplaced my Apple AirPods at breakfast, and they kept it for me when I retraced my steps. The concierge Azam (not sure I got it right, but he is slim bespectacled) was so helpful that he organised so many things with my wife (including my birthday celebrations) and kept tabs on us to ensure that we did not miss a bus or an appt. Every staff we encountered was so nice and helpful. This is by far the best experience I had staying anywhere in Malaysia. With most prices of things in Ringgit, coupled with the strong SGD against the MYR, there cannot be a better nearby option for Singaporeans to have a holiday. I think it's a great place to chill for couples and also those with toddlers. I see loads of SG cars, but the attraction for me if that I bypass the Causeway jams with a 1.5 hr ferry ride from TMFT and complete with a free 15 min shuttle to the hotel from the Desaru jetty.

Very nice location and the beach is lovely and clean. The king size double room was spacious and exceptionally clean, as was the modern bathroom. The balcony has a fan and is wide and comfortable. Perfect for watching sunrises and tropical rainstorms. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. In some places the facilities are a little dated and could do with a refresh.

The hotel is a peaceful spot compared to the Hard Rock Hotel nearby, it also has semi direct access to the beach (main hotel is separated from the beach by a quiet road). The beach was clean and well maintained. It is a red-flag beach - the water was choppy and there were signs up warning guests about jelly fish, so we just paddled in the water with our feet. This would be the case for any hotel on the Desaru coast. We checked in for 3 nights and they gave us 2 complementary passes to the waterpark attached to the Hard Rock Hotel, which was good, but considering we were a party of 3 (2 adults and a child), it would have been good if we didn't have to ask for the additional ticket at check-in (we were originally told we would have to pay for the 3rd ticket, but I did say our reservation was for 3 people and they kindly brought up the third ticket along with the bags). The hotel is undergoing renovation at the moment so not all their amenities/facilities were available (only 1 of their 3 pools were open). It would have been good to know this at the time of booking. Food was really overpriced and you are a captive audience as there is not much nearby to walk to (you can drive out to get some food), so thank goodness for Grab. A bug bear of mine was that we had to pay for parking (RM5 per day), guests should really be parking for free. The breakfast buffet is extensive and the food is good in general. The rooms were nice and the ocean view was wonderful. The amenities on the property were nice and convenient. The hard rock and the water park are a short walk away as well. The concierge had local tours and activities you could book also. There was some construction in the lobby which was not posted on the website.

Enjoyed the stay. Location was fairly convenient and close to the beach. Some minor nitpicks - the water for the bathtub was not hot enough, the clothes rack in the balcony was in very bad condition. But overall, I would recommend the resort.

Generally my stay in Westin is pleasant. Service is good and they gave us a little surprise when we told them it’s our anniversary. However, the cleanness of the restaurant can be improved. There are many flies in the dinner buffet. They are basically everywhere - resting on the food, on the dining table & etc. It seems like the staffs are pretty used to it and doesn’t see it as a hygiene concern. Although there are electronic flies killer nearby, it’s obviously not sufficient. I won’t complain is it’s a hawker setting, but I don’t expect such condition in a 5-star hotel.

The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are also huge and lovely to use. The staff are impeccable in their welcome and service quality. The restaurants provide superb food at all meals. The only trouble is that the total seating of the restaurants is far short of the number of guests, leading to long queues at breakfast and the need to book tables well in advance to ensure you get a spot. At breakfast, they eventually opened up Prego retaurant and the function room to cater for the breakfast crowd.

Review for The Westin Desaru Coast Resort I recently stayed in a one-bedroom suite. 1. Air Conditioning Issue in the Bedroom The bedroom air conditioning was not functioning properly throughout my stay. Although cold air was present in the vents, the blower wasn’t working, so the room never cooled effectively. I had to call maintenance three times. On the second visit, I was present and the technician confirmed the blower issue. I informed the front desk and specifically requested the blower be replaced while I was out on a day trip. Unfortunately, when I returned, I received a message saying the AC had been serviced, along with a suggestion to use the ceiling fan to help circulate air — which ironically highlighted the exact problem: cold air wasn’t being circulated due to the faulty blower. At that point, I gave up and endured the room temperature as it was. 2. Dinner Availability for Guests One evening, all the hotel’s restaurants were fully booked for dinner, leaving no option for hotel guests without prior reservations. I was traveling with my two-year-old and had to travel out of the hotel (as advised by concierge) to a nearby town 20 minutes away, only to find every recommended restaurant packed due to the long weekend. This was not flagged to us beforehand. We ended up returning and ordering food via Grab. It would be helpful if the hotel considered reserving a few tables each night for walk-in hotel guests.

Really liked the bedrooms and access to the beach. Staff were friendly although not always able to accommodate requests as the hotel was so busy. The hotel was super busy over the holiday weekend and there simply are not enough facilities to accommodate. Breakfast areas were overflowing. No where to sit. Evening dining also overflowing and reservations not available until beyond 9:30pm. Staff very overwhelmed and quality of food poor. Pool area too small for number of guests. Rooms very noisy - children running up and down corridors and screaming. The beach and beach bar was the best place to be to gain some respite from the extremely busy and noisy hotel. The access to the beach was great and the staff at the beach bar very friendly. There is construction underway, although that was not a bother. The spa facilities were really good and we very much enjoyed our treatments. I expect this is a lovely place to stay on a non holiday weekend. However, it's unlikely we will return given our experience. While this hotel carries the Westin name, it was not the typical Westin experience.

There are so many good things to comment on this hotel. The room was clean, bed are so comfortable with heavenly pillow to lie on and hug. The breakfast has too many varieties, and at the same time, delicious, love the Earl Grey croissant. We had our dinner at Prego, it’s really delicious, and 25%discount for in house hotel guests which is very thoughtful. The beach is also beautiful and clean. Also near to the golf course, we went there for chipping and putting free of charge. We will come back again hopefully.

The hotel maintenance is very poor. Although it opened in 2019, the décor already looks as worn out as decades old, and the passenger elevator feels more like a freight elevator. This is the first five-star hotel I’ve stayed in where the toilet seat is noticeably smaller than the bowl—and it keeps falling down and hitting me in the back. I booked a sea-view room, but was placed in a corner with only a 90‑degree ocean view, and the neighboring balcony had a direct line of sight into my room. The hotel has three restaurants, but they were nearly empty during meal times—because the food isn’t good. Their western dishes are fairly decent overall, but the local cuisine is very mediocre. The seafood buffet is only available on Fridays and Saturdays, not on weekdays. The kids’ pool is nice, and the beach is nice (though rocky, so swimming is not recommended), but beyond that, the hotel has no other children’s facilities—except for a tiny indoor slide in the club on the 6th floor. At breakfast with a child, it’s inconvenient for me get coffee , so I asked two waiters to bring me a cup. They were extremely polite, but the coffee never came. I booked three nights, but was so dissatisfied that I requested an early checkout. The hotel then apologized to me, wrote a card, and were very courteous—but they charged me US$420 per night for a room on Saturday. In short: great attitude, but they don’t actually do anything. It’s Ritz‑Carlton prices for a four‑star experience.
