The Wiltwyck

If you like traditional home you will love this spot. Comfortable bed, great shower, great coffee. However the room we booked was on the 2 nd floor. With no elevator might be a challenge to those with ambulatory issues. Not sure if any available rooms on the ground level . Also parking is in a lot down a steep hill … again not for an elderly couple. Homeowners could not have been nicer and were so helpful and kind on all issues

Loved the location of this historic property. We stopped here on our way to Maine. Remote checkin was easy and owners were very responsive.It was an easy walk to dinner and a cute little downtown. The room(s) were comfy and very clean. Bonus points for everything needed to make coffee and a refrigerator. Full disclosure that the property looks to have been recently renovated so there is still some debris on the back and side of the house and the view out the windows wasn’t pretty. But in spite of that the rate was good and we were happy to stay here and would again.

Not elderly friendly. No elevators but a narrow 15 steps hike to your room. We never physically interacted with the staff, only by phone or email. Probably would not stay there again.

Perfect location in a sweet pre-Civil War Italianate home perched on the edge of the uptown Stockade district, close to the shops and dining but not noisy. But I do mean perched: their parking lot is down a steep, ravine-like narrow driveway, and if you park even momentarily on the wrong half, their neighbor will scold you. Comfy room with high ceilings, quirky original art, and a big fluffy bed. Considerate fittings and supplies, including cream for coffeemaker, but an oddly muted welcome from a very reserved host. So, good for a short stay to explore history, boutiques, and dining within a few blocks' walk.

We grew up in Kingston so we are very familiar with old quaint homes. This was advertised as such and that is NOT what this was. It looked nothing like the pictures on the website. It was dirty. The windows are old and falling apart. The cushions on the furniture were so worn out we couldn’t sit on it. The closets were filthy. If I were there for a formal event I’d never hang clothes in them. Parking was a disaster. It’s down a very steep driveway and the parking area looked like a ghetto with old rusty tricycles , grills, and broken furniture. The doorknob on our entry door was literally dangling on a loose broken screw! We didn’t know who the owner was or if he was a property manager. He never spoke to us ( odd because the reviews said how welcoming this owner was) He certainly never checked to see how ouraccommodation's were. Our impression was that the Wiltwyk is not fit to be rented. It needs a lot of repair work and facility maintainence along with a crash course in customer service . We DO NOT recommend this as a place to stay in Kingston. Don’t believe the website.

Good location. Easy entry instructions. Historic, but could use some freshening up. Parking area could use some cleanup. Overall great value.

Old building steeped in history, across the street from the first Senate House building constructed in the 1600's... walk to nearly everything that is Kingston with private parking (albeit behind the house down the hill). Cozy and warm... not thrilled with the parking but really not an issue. Owners are really nice and text-able too... we walked to the French Restaurant as well as the bakery for breakfast!

Lovely historical home. Only note is that there is only one parking spot per reservation. So if you’re meeting someone, one of you will need to find parking elsewhere.

I was in the lower level suite with king size bed, living room and kitchen. It certainly went beyond my expectations and was very affordable. The historic house is beautifully renovated with attention to detail. To Make matters even better , there's an unbelievable French restaurant one block away. In addition it is in a very safe neighborhood. I highly recommend this property unless you have any mobility issues. The driveway is incredibly steep as are the stairs. If you have someone to drop you at the front door and have a room on the main floor you would only have a few stairs.

Beautiful historic home! We only stayed one night, but the location couldn't be better. Everything was walkable in the Kingston Stockade district. The downstairs apartment was clean, comfy, and we loved the art.

Overall it was a cute inn but missed on a few parts like junk outside in the back piled up where you park, cracks in the rooms wall, and off water pressure. Did not feel super professional and wouldn’t stay here again.

This is always my first choice when traveling to Kingston. Beautiful home with lots of privacy and well maintained. Very clean and decorated beautifully

This was an awesome place to stay the night in Kingston. We saw a show at Tubby’s, and the mile-ish walk was a pleasant one from the property, it’s in a great spot. Check in/out was easy, and the rooms were clean and had a good vibe to them. I would absolutely stay again!

I had an amazing stay! It was beautiful and quaint, only dinged a star because the water wouldn't get hot but I'm sure if I messaged Julie about it she would've fixed it. It was just late and I didn't want to bother her. Location is amazing and the bed was very comfortable.

It was difficult to find the Wi-Fi password

There are plenty of stores, restaurants and things to do. My room was the size of a small apartment with all the amenities. It was a perfect spot to spend a few days. Would definitely come back here again!

We loved this place and the host was super friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the historical nature of the rooms. We only wished there were more comfortable seating, more lamps and many more hooks. We also could have used a dresser or wardrobe. Otherwise, the location could not have been more perfect.

There are four rooms on the premises, and we were located downstairs. We could hear the folks upstairs moving about quite often, and it does feel like the noise was quite loud at times. Could just be the nature of an older home.

We had a beautiful room in this historic house. Very quiet and comfortable. The house is right off the downtown and we enjoyed walking to get a drink and dinner. Kingston is a great town. Would definitely recommend staying at the Wiltwyck.

We loved that this designated historic property is in a historic district - barely half a block from NYState's first senate house! - and maintains a historic "feel" while offering contemporary amenities. Loved the suite style accomodations. The friendly but unobtrusive hosts were always available to help or explain things and told us where to find dining nearby - within easy walking distance, and interesting facts about the town's development.

The restoration of the old building now operating as the Wiltwyck is a beautiful site in itself. The owners were very helpful and courteous, adding to our thorough enjoyment of Kingston.

The house is very beautiful. The suite my husband and I stayed in for the night was lovely, it had a sitting room, bedroom, bathroom and small refrigerator. The bedroom has its unique details which we both appreciated very much. Nice shower with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Pour over coffee a vey nice touch. Bed was comfortable, nice linens. Overall I give a three star rating because an assumption was made. With all that said I wish we would have dealt with the husband instead of the wife.

Julie and Sean were gracious and welcoming hosts. We felt right at home and couldn’t have asked for anything more. We look forward to going back and highly recommend to all our friends and family.

The Wiltwyck in Kingston, NY was such a great location, walkable to shops, restaurants, bars, bakeries. It was very clean as well which is a big factor. We enjoyed ourselves for our overnight stay.

The property is an old historic home. The hosts have done a nice job making it into a quaint inn feeling place. Our rooms were lovely. High ceilings lots of neat historic detail, floor to ceiling windows. The bath was basic but shower was good and great towels. Biggest asset is the great walkable location to restaurants etc. we had a quick but enjoyable stay

Excellent staff and beautiful room, quiet and very good coffee!

The building is a part of Kingston's history and is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks. The owners have been careful to preserve its original looks, with its multi-story brick walls, brownish-black flagstone front porch and steps and its stately interior rooms. Our first-floor lodging, with its high ceilings, majestic, tall windows and heavy, white trim on its doors and windows were obviously the original components of this structure, along with its hardwood floors. We enjoyed a comfortable, quiet bedroom, private bath and connected stateroom. One's first impression might be that this place is old and needs to be updated, but then you realize that this building was lovingly made by craftsmen of prodigious skills and meant to last for many generations. It is solid, well-cared-for and the longer you stay there, the more you appreciate how well it is made and how different, in a good way, it is from the cramped, cookie-cutter lodgings in a Best Western, or Holiday Inn. One feature -- or lack thereof -- is that there is no elevator. Obviously, back in the day when this was built, there were no such things. It is a climb up a rather long stairway, if you book second floor lodgings. But if you are in good health, it should not be a problem. And the owners are only too happy to carry your luggage. Big pluses: You are a short walk from great eateries -- Italian, Greek, Asian fusion, delis, coffee shops and many others.We will stay at the Wiltwyck again.

Historical property in a great location perfect for a couple nights stay to explore the quaint town of Kingston. Only downside was a very noisey AC window unit ,but we turned it off and used the box fan…our host were very friendly and gave recommendations for where to eat and what to see and they stock the kitchen with coffee and a tea kettle.and any item needed for quick meal prep.
