This was a very unique place to stay. I didn’t realize it was contactless and everything for information was sent to me. I contacted the number if any issues not knowing what to do and they called me within 10min. I know I might be old fashion and prefer a check in person but I managed. It was actually a lil creepy at first because the store and lil coffee shop wasn’t open yet you could go in building and there wasn’t a car at place at all. The elevators are very slow but they did work. It’s actually at a nice convenient spot to stay. We didn’t use the chairs outside with fire pit because we were clueless since no one there on what we could’ve done. The room was fixed up nice and bed was comfy. I was bummed ice machine didn’t work and I didn’t want to go to town for ice.

Our room was off the charts. It felt like we were floating on the water as we looked out over the deck. Beach just steps away. Great coffee shop and cafe. Rentals available. Well organized amenities. Beautiful views.

Our room was great - looking out over Lake Superior was quite lovely. Microwave and coffee supplies are set out in the hallway in addition to what’s in the room. Katie, the owner, is hands on making sure everything is running smoothly and made us a great cup of coffee at the Sandbar. There is also a wonderful sporting goods shop on the property.

Check in was quick and easy. Very clean room and comfortable. Would definitely recommend and stay again. The only downside is that shop and bar area closed at 4 pm. Would recommend staying open a little longer.

This was a unique property with only 5 rooms. Beautiful property. The elevator is glacially slow but clean and maintained. The coffee shop and store on the first floor were very convenient and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and lovely.

The weather was cold and windy so we were unable to enjoy the patio or outdoor facilities. We didnt have the opportunity to experience the bar or restraunt due to a private party being held during our stay. The room was very nice and we would stay there again.

We were looking for a private getaway on Lake Superior with a view of the lake. Boy, did the Blue Wave Inn deliver! We stayed in room #3 and had the most amazing view. It could not be beat! Plus the room had a jacuzzi and a balcony In the evening we enjoyed sitting by the fire next to the complimentary Solo stoves and in the morning we grabbed coffee and food in the cafe downstairs. Thanks, Blue Wave Inn for being our home away from home for a few days! If you are in the area, check out the Ashland Baking company for fresh bread and danishes!

Very nice room, comfortable bed. Did not care for the slow elevator which you had to take to the 3rd floor where all the rooms were located. Nice chairs outside where you could sit and view the beautiful bay. Great walk in shower with your choice of two different shower heads.

Unique property - we drove by three times before recognizing it as a motel! Upscale modern design - very classy. Shower was a highlight! Two shower heads! Missing a few little touches which would have made our stay more convenient, like adequate lighting. Was very clean except for the dust - quite a layer under the bed. Could not connect to wi-fi and owner did not respond to request for help.

The room did not have a deck overlooking the water - we were expecting a deck! The room was dark (decor & lighting) & dusty with cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The table was unbalanced with a small porthole window overlooking an electrical power plant. Traffic noise was annoying and the property had minimal food options!

We loved our one night stay at the Blue Wave Inn. Such a unique property right on the water. We stayed in December so we couldn’t really enjoy our patio or the other outdoor sitting area, but we were still able to enjoy the beautiful view! Our room was very clean & bed was comfortable. Check in was easy & the staff at Solstice Outdoors were very friendly. We had one small issue & the owners were super responsive & quick. We also loved the convenience of the coffee shop/cafe right downstairs. Would definitely stay here again!

Our room was perfect & the bathroom was so beautiful. However, the traffic noise was very loud. The windows did not offer much of an opportunity to view anything. Otherwise it was great. I tried to find out about the history of the building but nothing.

We stayed in room 5 our first night, and it was nice, but a bit small. The bed was comfortable, and the shower was great. Our next 2 nights, we stayed in room #4. This room is amazing! Twice the size of room 5. It has ample seating for multiple guests, a fireplace, bar with sink, and a comfortable king bed. It also has a balcony, that we enjoyed using, looking right on the water. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here in the future. The owners and staff are very nice, and go out of their way to make your stay great.

The Blue Wave Inn is located directly on the water. We woke up to wonderful sunrises and ended the day with spectacular sunsets. The limited amount of rooms makes for a quiet, restful stay. It’s the exact opposite of a large, chain hotel! The contactless access makes checking in and out simple and easy. My wife especially enjoys the jetted tub, and I was impressed with the large, walk in, dual head shower. The water pressure is as good as I’ve ever experienced in a hotel! If you’re looking for a higher end hotel, that’s easy to find, easy to get in to, is close to a variety of restaurants, you’ll want to stay at the Blue Wave Inn! This was our second stay, and it won’t be the last!

Beautiful views from our room - loved the balcony and the outside area. The room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. Only 4 stars because we were on the top floor and were awakened several times overnight by a mechanical hammering noise coming from above us. Also the TP was gas station scratchy and I expected something a little more plush to match the rest of the atmosphere.

This place was going to try and scam me for a $100 dollar lots key fee. They use traditional keys and have a notice that if a key is lost that they charge $100. They also instruct you leave keys in room upon checkout. Luckily I took pictures of the keys when i left. They contacted me 5 days after my stay and asked me about the missing key. I responded with the picture of the keys and told them to not bother scamming me to which they responded "okay"
This place was going to try and scam me for a $100 dollar lots key fee. They use traditional keys and have a notice that if a key is lost that they charge $100. They also instruct you leave keys in room upon checkout. Luckily I took pictures of the keys when i left. They contacted me 5 days after my stay and asked me about the missing key. I responded with the picture of the keys and told them to not bother scamming me to which they responded "okay"

We did not receive information for contactless check in. Sitting in the parking lot 8;25 pm I called twice and it went to voicemail. A message on FB got results. Was sent the code and got access to our room. The room (Sailor's Retreat) was fabulous. Beautifully furnished, lots of room, balcony overlooking Lake Superior. The huge shower had a regular showerhead plus a rainfall one. Bed was very comfortable. Chairs to relax in, good lighting and plenty of USB plugs and electrical outlets. Coffee, creamer, glassware, wine opener provided. Plenty of towels and soap, shampoo, conditioner, qtips, cottonballs in bathroom. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay right in the banks of Lake Superior.

We loved our one night stay at the Blue Wave Inn. Such a unique property right on the water. We stayed in December so we couldn’t really enjoy our patio or the other outdoor sitting area, but we were still able to enjoy the beautiful view! Our room was very clean & bed was comfortable. Check in was easy & the staff at Solstice Outdoors were very friendly. We had one small issue & the owners were super responsive & quick. We also loved the convenience of the coffee shop/cafe right downstairs. Would definitely stay here again!

A nice change from chain motels. Our room (#5) was quite large with a very tall ceiling. The large shower had a great double showerhead for a blissful experience. The building is located right next to Lake Superior and a lakeside trail. The first floor has a sporting goods store and restaurant.

Out biggest negative in our room choice, the Captain’s quarters was the very busy road just outside the windows. Other rooms facing the lake might not have as much of an issue, but I didn’t realize when I chose this room how close it was to the highway not having been to Ashland before. The room itself was ok, not much storage and the elevator is very slow. But the bed was comfortable and the shower was great, two shower heads, regular and rain which was nice to try. The table was wobbly so owners can probably tighten that up.

The Blue Wave Inn is located directly on the water. We woke up to wonderful sunrises and ended the day with spectacular sunsets. The limited amount of rooms makes for a quiet, restful stay. It’s the exact opposite of a large, chain hotel! The contactless access makes checking in and out simple and easy. My wife especially enjoys the jetted tub, and I was impressed with the large, walk in, dual head shower. The water pressure is as good as I’ve ever experienced in a hotel! If you’re looking for a higher end hotel, that’s easy to find, easy to get in to, is close to a variety of restaurants, you’ll want to stay at the Blue Wave Inn! This was our second stay, and it won’t be the last!

Packing up kid after four years of college. Stayed in Ashland many times the past years, first time anything was available here. Beautiful setup inches from Lake Superior. Great view, close to eats, good coffee in room, artesian well steps away. Best, coldest water you’ll ever taste!

Really unique with an outstanding lake view. The sunset last night was simply stunning from room 1. Very nicely furnished and very clean. We enjoyed having breakfast sandwiches at the on site cafe. I suggest you supply cushions for the chairs on the balcony. My only criticism is the Murphy bed. It was very uncomfortable and I moved to the couch in the middle of the night. The Murphy beds would be fine for kids but not for guests who are 60+. The king bed was very comfortable.

Our room was great - looking out over Lake Superior was quite lovely. Microwave and coffee supplies are set out in the hallway in addition to what’s in the room. Katie, the owner, is hands on making sure everything is running smoothly and made us a great cup of coffee at the Sandbar. There is also a wonderful sporting goods shop on the property.

This hotel was a splurge for my very modest budget, but it was worth it. This place was adorable, clean, and so comfortable! I was traveling off season, so the check in, restaurant, and outfitters hours were a little limited, but not terribly. They still made every reasonable effort to make me feel welcomed and safe. I have absolutely nothing negative to say.

The weather was cold and windy so we were unable to enjoy the patio or outdoor facilities. We didnt have the opportunity to experience the bar or restraunt due to a private party being held during our stay. The room was very nice and we would stay there again.

We were looking for a private getaway on Lake Superior with a view of the lake. Boy, did the Blue Wave Inn deliver! We stayed in room #3 and had the most amazing view. It could not be beat! Plus the room had a jacuzzi and a balcony In the evening we enjoyed sitting by the fire next to the complimentary Solo stoves and in the morning we grabbed coffee and food in the cafe downstairs. Thanks, Blue Wave Inn for being our home away from home for a few days! If you are in the area, check out the Ashland Baking company for fresh bread and danishes!

Booked the Blue Wave for a last minute trip. Was an absolute gem and the owners have clearly put a lot of thought into making the property a great place to stay. Didn’t anticipate an after hours check in but was given correct and easy to follow directions. Getting into the room right before sunset was amazing. The view of the bay can’t be beat. While I didn’t get to try the onsite cafe or the fire pits, everything looked well maintained. Would highly recommend choosing the Blue Wave for a more quaint and charming stay!
