OYO Newquay Beach Hotel

Hotel is nice however parking is very limited and an additional cost paid to the hotel which feels insulting

Lovely hotel, beautiful decor and furnishings especially the reception, bar and restaurant area. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had a standard room, a bit on the small side but very clean. A shame there wasn't a lift facility as I struggle with stairs because of arthritis! Plus steps leading up to hotel entrance. So not suitable for any disability! Lovely area and close to the beach, amenities, restaurants and town centre. Good regular transport facility too!

We have stayed here before and would stay again, it’s a fair price, more than just clean and tidy room (see more below), in a central location for exploring locally or getting in and out by car, and it has parking. This time we stayed in a room with a sea view balcony, which had a lovely view and was clean, tidy and comfortable but with a modern and homey feel. There was a spare radiator and fan in the room in case of weather change which was a comfort nice to have the choice in our hands. The breakfasts were excellent! My fave was the smashed avo & poached with sourdough toast, closely followed in equal second place by the yoghurt with berries and buckwheat pancakes with bacon & maple syrup! The front of house staff were unfailingly helpful but were a little stretched so not always to be immediately found but possibly this is as we stayed out of season. Two things to give as a heads-up. First, whilst it’s clearly stated in the room, in case you don’t read it immediately like us and as this approach changed since our fist stay there last year, until you ask for cleaning services /fresh towels for your room, you will not get these. Second, and we stayed at the end of Sept/early Oct, and we don’t drink anyway, but in case it’s important to you, the bar was not open during this time. However, there are several bars & cafes within a minute or two’s walk. To end on a good note, the allocated parking was very useful and, at a charge of £10 a day, quite reasonable, in my view.

Disgustingly dirty carpets in public area and stairs. Lovely staff made it for us. The parking facilities are limited and although we had a place booked, it was taken very quickly on several occasions. Katya, especially, was a star when it came to sorting this out. A nice hotel with “interesting” decor! Not sure about the square mugs in the room!

Arrived and first issue was parking. It needs to bit a bit more clear on the website about booking parking. It really is limited and I was sent an app that had no instructions . Parking in the area is also limited and off street parking unless you wait till around 7 or 8 at night is ridiculous. Staff went above and beyond to help and let us in our rooms early which I was grateful for Rooms are spacious but was warm the day we arrived so stuffy. Beds not that comfortable. Outside was noisy at night and I noted some undesirable people hanging round later in the evening in the side street and early morning. Nice hotel but let down by lack of parking and local area.

Marking this as a good 3* hotel. The place can feel a little strange, largely because it’s an old place trying to feel new run by a non conventional owner group. There was this problem with the door lock and then I was told the restaurant was shut but they served food to booked parties. If there is parking on property should it really be a £20 p/d extra? Staff were very kind. I’m not sure whether to recommend the place or not.

I had a pleasant stay at the OYO hotel. Room was clean and over looked the sea views. My only criticism would be the doors. A key pad is used to unlock and lock the doors, you could not lock the door manually from the inside. Also these locks were quite noisy so whenever someone on the corridor was unlocking or locking there door you could hear it. For that extra piece of mind I would have liked to have been able to unlock my door from the inside manually rather than relying on an electrical lock.

The bathroon had sewage smell. We could not stay in it the 3 nights so we had to leave. The staff where friendly. But the room needs care taken to it. Cups where stained. The room has marks all over the walls. Such a shame as the main area down stairs in restaurant and as you go in looks soo nice.

The carpets in the halls were covered with mud, the carpets in our room had blood stains, crumbs, and hair everywhere, and the bathroom was so disgusting that it was hard to even take a shower. The bathroom window looked like someone had vomited on it, and the sink was covered in dirt. There was nothing clean in the room at all. On top of this, the staff were completely unhelpful. We traveled with a baby and specifically requested a ground-floor room in advance. Instead, we were placed in the very last room on the third floor with no lift suitable for a baby stroller. For three days we had to carry the stroller up and down the stairs. We repeatedly asked for a baby bed (three or four times) and were told “yes, of course” every time – but it was never delivered. The rooms are tiny, far from what is advertised. The breakfast started off acceptable on the first two days, but by the third day it was obvious they were just serving leftovers from the previous day, including iced fruit that had gone bad. We felt cheated and scammed. For the amount of money we paid here, we could have flown to Spain and stayed in a real 4-star hotel with proper service and hygiene. This hotel completely ruined our holiday.

My corner room was small and slightly grubby. The carpet was stained and dusty in places where the vacuum had not reached. Carpets throughout the hotel were in a similar condition. There was no kettle or phone in my room and no information in the room explaining the hotel or what time meals were. I got an email from the hotel the day before my travel saying that the dining area and bar were undergoing "renovation" so would not be available during my stay (breakfast was still available). I saw absolutely no sign of any work being done on any part of the hotel during my 7 night stay. The staff were friendly but seemed disorganised The fire alarm went off twice during my stay but each time it was a false alarm. Nevertheless no evacuation of the building was completed and it was only by passing someone on the stairs that I found out there was not a real fire. My biggest complaint is the pricing and the apparent rating of the hotel. I would have been far more at ease with the hotel's failings if I had been paying less than the £115 a night it cost me to stay there.

Do Not Be Fooled by the Pictures! As soon as we arrived, the disappointment began. The carpeted stairs leading to our room were filthy and heavily stained. We had booked two rooms, and both were shockingly small compared to what was shown in the photos. The cleanliness—or lack thereof—was unacceptable. Neither room had been properly cleaned. The carpets were clearly not vacuumed, and the bathrooms were disgusting. One of the toilets had blood splatters around the seat, in the shower, and even on the bin. We immediately complained to reception, and someone came to clean. But when we returned, it was still dirty. A glass in the bathroom had dried toothpaste on it, and there were greasy fingermarks on the underside of the toilet tank. On top of it all, the rooms reeked of bleach, which only tried (and failed) to mask how dusty and grimy everything was. We asked to speak with the manager, but he refused to address the situation directly and left the receptionist to deal with us. We ended up going to another hotel, but it was fully booked. Even they advised us not to stay here, confirming that many guests leave this hotel due to ongoing issues with cleanliness, food, and poor management. Save yourself the trouble—don’t make the same mistake we did.

Our room was a garden view, which could be redone! The room was very clean

Make sure you sort parking before arriving as very limited. Room was small, but did say when booking. The bed was to soft but that's just my preference. Booked a room with a balcony which was nice. Close to places to eat and drink.

This hotel was lovely very modern in the areas we walked through. It was quiet but this was probably down to time of year. The room itself was a compact double which was a little tight around end of bed & bathroom door but not a big issue my only issue with the room was how low the bed was as it was a struggle to stand again from being sat on the bed this could be a big problem with someone with mobility issues. Probably the best shower I’ve used in a hotel

The room was spotless and the facilities good, including bottles of water which were a welcome touch. So I was really pleased when I walked in. However this was spoilt by the mattress which was way too soft and uneven which made for an uncomfortable night where eventually I slept across the bottom of the bed. Not good and such a shame. This place is in an excellent location and is smart and welcoming. If you replace mattressses (see other reviews) in some of the rooms it will be excellent.

The most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in with zero soundproofing between the room and hallway which meant a rude awakening when other drunk guests arrived back. The staff were friendly but that’s can’t detract from the basic room, terrible night sleep and a feeling that I’d been duped by previous reviews!

The staff were friendly and the hotel being right in front of the beach and walking distance to everything was wonderful. However, the room was the size of a box and is an extremely tight space for more than one person. The bed was old and springy, extremely uncomfortable and painful to try to sleep on. My husband couldn’t sleep the nights we were there and I really struggled with the sounds from the rooms next door or people walking along the corridors. There’s no soundproofing at all and all the box sized rooms are so close to each other that you can hear everything and be easily disturbed just by somebody opening or closing their doors (which slams really loudly). Despite their wonderful location, I don’t think I’d stay there again or recommend to others.

I did not have an ocean view and the room was quite small. The mattress was too worn and soft. Also there were stains on the carpet. The staff were very friendly and responded immediately to questions. Housekeeping was thorough although sometimes leaving the "make my room" notice on the door did not work.

The small single was not fit for habitation by an adult. They show pictures of every room but not that one because its so small its claustrophobic. The curtains dont cover the windows and the gaps in the bottom of the door were huge. The window looks straight into someone elses window. The noise in the hotel was more like a lively hostel. The decor and cleanliness were great and the staff were lovely but the size of the room was rediculious.

Great location right across from the beach and a 2 minute walk to downtown. The staff couldn’t be more helpful ans were very friendly and hyper-concerned with our happiness with the stay.

No where to park. Stood waiting to check in for 20 minutes, could not find any staff, check in worker was on his phone the whole time. lobby felt dirty. Windows at the front of hotel were filthy, our room was dingey, our window looked into an alley behind, full of bins, and pedestrians which were eye level with the window, plenty of on-lookers if youre into that! £100 a night? They'd have to pay me that to stay here again.

Freezing cold, had to ask for electric heater. took two hours to find one. Breakfast from 08:00, arrived at 08:45. Two people running the place struggled to understand english. And to top it off the charge was higher than advertised on two rooms i booked. When i asked for a receipt, it was like it was promised to be emailed. when arrived £20 difference on the room cost and VAT. then had to ask for second recept and the same price difference. This is a 2 star hotel. let down by teh Hotel and the Hotels app!

My friend and I stayed 4 nights. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. Breakfast had varied options and was very tasty. Bar staff were friendly.The bathrooms were beautiful and our rooms were very clean and quiet. Stay somewhere else! This has to be the worse customer service I received in years. This hotel cancelled one room, in a two room booking, ten days in advance, throwing their hands in the air and claiming that they've authorised hotels.com to refund me when they didn't. Don't waste your time trying to call them, no one cares in the hotel, or in their customer service line. Neither I nor hotels.com could get an answer from them.

The hotel is very quiet and clean. Very good situated with short walks to the beaches and shops and restaurants.Staff is friendly. During summer season the hotel probably has a problem with parking, because there are only 9 I think parking spaces, but I recommend this hotel very much.

Great location, kind staff and close to shops beach and activities

The hotel location is perfect. On sea front and a few minutes walk into town. The rail station is only minutes away too. The hotel was quiet. My room,small, but everything was there. I was very comfortable in the room. I would certainly choose to stay there again. I had a lovely break and enjoyed Newquay very much.

The hotel is in a great location at the northern end of Newquay's main street, with numerous good restaurants within easy walking distance, and easily accessible parking out the front as well as around the corner from the hotel. The hotel staff were all very friendly and made us feel welcome. They provided us with a few local recommendations when requested. Our room was comfortable and well-equipped. Breakfast was very nice, served in the groundfloor bar/restaurant with views across the headlands.

Great location! Comfortable & compact single room. Fab shower and wonderful large bath towel! Staff were welcoming & helpful. The room could be improved by the addition of a bedside lamp but otherwise everything was great!
