Depressing experience. -The staff were friendly however I don’t believe they knew how to do anything. -No hot water. -Pool and hot tub are permanently shut down which was a dissapointment. -The bar is shut down. -The restaurant is shut down. -outside of the building there is significant rot and degradation to the exterior of the building -we went to go for a swim but they are too lazy to even take the weeds from the dock so it all seaweed. If you plan to park your boat there maybe reconsider as you’ll probably get weeds in your prop. -they had tons of empty lake facing rooms and they didn’t upgrade us which is fine but unprofessional. We asked how much it would be to upgrade to a lake view and they didn’t know how to do that and told us we’d have to pay full price. So don’t expect to make any changes to your reservation. -the breakfast was labeled a “continental breakfast” it was milk cartons, eggo waffles, hard boiled eggs, and cinnamon rolls. Make sure to wake up early because they only make about 10 cinnamon rolls and so there is not enough. The coffee is good. -dock was also falling apart basic things like the bumper trim which would take all but 5 minutes for an employee to repair with a hammer and a handful of nails shows exactly how little they care about the place. -everything is very outdated and very odd and liminal feeling colors. -beds were fine but very very cheap and hard. -stains on walls and carpet in our room The good: Bed was clean Free WiFi

Did not have hot water 2 of the 3 days. When I went to front desk I was told it happened often because hot water heaters were not adequate for number of rooms. Pool was not open because of renovations. View was beautiful though.

Great staff, older hotel but generally well kept. Pool closed for repairs when we were there. Best fresh made cinnamon rolls for breakfast started the day out right. As with most hotels, short staff meant the owner was there to make the rolls and check out guests. Pride in providing great service was evident.

We really liked the property and the atmosphere. The owners are/were renovating the property which meant the pool, hot tub, exercise room, etc were closed. The kids were disappointed but if you have a boat there are plenty of swimming opportunities! Would highly recommend especially once everything is completed!

The place was nice. The pool was closed. That was too bad. The view from the balcony was incredible. The complimentary breakfast in the morning was pretty good. The beds were comfortable. There is a pizza place, liquor store and bar a 1/4 mile up the road.

The view was amazing however the bed sheets were stinky and yellow, it seems like they never clean the comforters, they had stains and BO from other guests. Towels old and yellow as well with stains. Pool was closed, would not call it a resort but a motel. You get what u get I guess for the area..

I was very disappointed with my stay at this hotel. The first room we were given had clearly not been cleaned — it looked used when we walked in. I had booked two rooms for our trip, but they weren’t even located near each other. The breakfast was also very poor, offering only cereal and a few small items. On top of that, the beds were extremely hard, and I spent the entire night tossing and turning. Overall, this was a very unsatisfactory experience.

The pool and hot tub are out of service for the year. Rooms and property are not very clean or well maintained. Reminds me of a roaside motel. View of Pelican lake was stunning but overall, I had higher expectations of the room and facilities for the price.

it was okay- felt safe. No pool. Pool closed for some reason - never explained. Cigarette burn on blanket... and on tub... seriously? why not get rid of blanket? Big hole in middle of blanket. The whole bedding situation- from the 60's? 70"s? a little updating is good. No daily maids... I had to ask for more toilet paper and towels... One guy at front desk was great... nice - attentive- but two women were the worst- barely even acknowledged your presence- lots of stains on carpet in room- come on! clean things up a bit- Pool was out service the whole time I was there- five days!! Boo!

Great check in. Friendly employee. Our room the beds were very old and uncomfortable, the coffee pot in the room was dirty we needed to clean it prior to using. The shower did not drain, which left me needing to take a shower with water from my husband’s shower around my feet. That is disgusting. They did have great cinnamon rolls in the morning.

Every amenity listed was out of order or service. Rooms were cleanish but very outdated. The room phone was not working, the shower chair was still in the wall but busted with a out of service seat, the soap looked 5 years old, but the breakfast was very clean and good surprisingly.

It got the job done for sleep purposes but it was HOT & HUMID in those rooms. Spiders in the corners, stains on the sheets and the bathroom deteriorating. There was a working TV with directTV but the refrigerator smelt as though someone left bait in the fridge and turned it off.

No pool or hot tub, room stunk and the carpets felt damp and sticky, TV remote was not set up to control volume or power and nothing done about it except to hand me directions on how to program the remote (which did not work either), wi-fi was weak.

We had nice views of the lake and the beds were comfortable. I was slightly disappointed that the pool area was closed down as it looks like a fantastic pool, hot tub, work out area. Otherwise, a really good stay and would recommend.

We stayed two nights in a clean and comfortable room on the first floor with a second door that opened towards the parking lot that made loading and unloading suitcases easy. The place was quiet and not fully booked in August. The staff was polite and helpful in suggesting dinner options. We liked The Dam Restaurant up the street. The continental breakfast was OK, with cereal, milk, coffee, toast, and some other items. The only thing I didn’t like was the bed. The mattress and box springs were rather old and creaky and the bedding could use some updating, but it was fine for the two nights. The hot water in the shower was lukewarm the first day and hotter the second day. It could be because more surrounding guests in other rooms were taking showers at the same time the first day, I don’t know. All in all it’s a decent place to stay to visit Voyageurs National Park and Crane Lake. Bug spray on exposed legs and arms is a must! Long hiking pants and a thick shirt is needed for trail walking, or else spray your shoulders, too. We walked the gorge trail on Crane Lake and I was stung by mosquitoes multiple times all over both shoulders through my tee shirt. Mosquitoes were everywhere. I wore a hat or my scalp would probably have been stung, too.

The hotel is in a lovely location on Pelican lake and my room had a balcony overlooking the lake itself. I was so impressed with the staff there. After Orbitz messed up my reservation and then told me there was no availability for my requested date AND my payment was nonrefundable, I called the hotel directly. They did have a room available for my requested date and made the change for me without any issues, including any extra fees. The decor is a bit dated and could use some freshening up but it defintely has an authentic feel. No staff for the bar, but the kind lady at the front desk sold me a couple of beverages to have in my room, which had a refrigerator. Also, the continental breakfast included homemade cinnamon rolls!

This would have been a solid place and my review would have been "shabby but fine" until there was ZERO hot water all morning. We stayed here three nights. One early in our trip and two nights at the end. Our room was clean if outdated and basic. It still had good value. There is a continental breakfast that is fine. The pool and dining room are not operating currently. Staff were pleasant but indifferent. Not problem solvers or especially hospitality-minded. There often isn't anyone at the desk and ringing the bell does not actually summon anyone. It's a very basic hotel on par with a cheap chain motel. Which would be fine but not having enough hot water for guests in the morning is inexcusable. I wanted to ask the desk when hot water would be available but no one was there.

This would have been a solid place and my review would have been "shabby but fine" until there was ZERO hot water all morning. We stayed here three nights. One early in our trip and two nights at the end. Our room was clean if outdated and basic. It still had good value. There is a continental breakfast that is fine. The pool and dining room are not operating currently. Staff were pleasant but indifferent. Not problem solvers or especially hospitality-minded. There often isn't anyone at the desk and ringing the bell does not actually summon anyone. It's a very basic hotel on par with a cheap chain motel. Which would be fine but not having enough hot water for guests in the morning is inexcusable. I wanted to ask the desk when hot water would be available but no one was there.

I arrived very late and very tired. The staff were patient and kind and helped me with everything I needed. I lucked out and got a room right next to the laundry facilities because I needed to use them. Couple of rowdy young men outside yelling til about midnight and my door squeaked so atrociously I felt bad every time I had to open it. Morning view outside was stunning and peaceful. Easy checkout. Nice breakfast selections. Great place

The property itself is gorgeous. It’s right on the lake. However….. there is no bar/restaurant inside or connected to the hotel. The breakfast wasn’t a lot, just toast or muffins. Our first morning/full day there there was NO hot water and we couldn’t shower. Checked with front desk, they didn’t care or seemed concerned and said owner didn’t care. We were there 5 days and we finally received fresh towels our last night there. We still loved the place! The staff was very nice, lobby was nice and comfortable. It was perfect as it was close to the Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary which we were there for. There’s a family owned cafe right down the road that had great food, The Pattens. And a grocery store so you could grab snacks if needed.

it was okay- felt safe. No pool. Pool closed for some reason - never explained. Cigarette burn on blanket... and on tub... seriously? why not get rid of blanket? Big hole in middle of blanket. The whole bedding situation- from the 60's? 70"s? a little updating is good. No daily maids... I had to ask for more toilet paper and towels... One guy at front desk was great... nice - attentive- but two women were the worst- barely even acknowledged your presence- lots of stains on carpet in room- come on! clean things up a bit- Pool was out service the whole time I was there- five days!! Boo!

Oveson’s is the best place to stay in Orr. The pool and hot tub are closed permanently. But I didn’t go to Orr for that, there’s Pelican lake! Continental breakfast is good..cereal, yogurt, juice, milk and baked cinnamon rolls. The lodge is decorated nicely and there’s a sitting area with a TV, also tables and chairs if you wanted to play a game with your family. The mattresses are so-so and the linen is dated but clean. The service was excellent and one older gentleman was always so helpful and polite!

The hotel is in a lovely location on Pelican lake and my room had a balcony overlooking the lake itself. I was so impressed with the staff there. After Orbitz messed up my reservation and then told me there was no availability for my requested date AND my payment was nonrefundable, I called the hotel directly. They did have a room available for my requested date and made the change for me without any issues, including any extra fees. The decor is a bit dated and could use some freshening up but it defintely has an authentic feel. No staff for the bar, but the kind lady at the front desk sold me a couple of beverages to have in my room, which had a refrigerator. Also, the continental breakfast included homemade cinnamon rolls!

Place was spoilt by not having the pool gym etc open the pool was green water when looked in ! No food available at the inn no kitchen open ! Not good ! Breakfast was poor ! No outside seating for looking at lake etc. room was good and clean good fridge ! Cannot believe the pool had been in maintenance since I booked a year ago ? Providing no cooked food a big no no ! Or a bar ! Was not given any notice prior very disappointing! Could be perfect if bat and gym and pool and outside seating available

The room was basically clean and the beds were somewhat uncomfortable. Blankets are old and need to be replaced.

Great staff, older hotel but generally well kept. Pool closed for repairs when we were there. Best fresh made cinnamon rolls for breakfast started the day out right. As with most hotels, short staff meant the owner was there to make the rolls and check out guests. Pride in providing great service was evident.

We picked this location due to the availability of swimming facilities for our daughter. However upon arrival we were told that the pool is it of service and is yet to be brought back to service. Staff was welcoming and informative, room was clean. I do wish that the Continental breakfast consisted of more than just sweets, muffins, waffles, boiled eggs, cereal and coffee. Bacon and sausages would have been great to have in the morning.

Pulling into the “Resort and Inn” it looked beautiful. Desk agent was nice and friendly but you were greeted with a 8x10 sign prominently displayed on the desk “pool and hot tub closed”. A little different then what there advertising road side sign. Come to find out it’s been closed for a long time with no intentions of ever opening those amenities again. Now on to the room… Walked in and we were greeted with a great view of the lake. How cool until we looked around the room and found a beer can on the bathroom vanity, towels hanging on the door, bath mat on the floor, beds looked used and a half box of donuts in the garbage. Either this room was somebody’s or it hadn’t been cleaned from the last guest. Promptly went to the desk to complain and got a different room which was actually nicer with a fireplace and a balcony. The place is pretty dated and the grounds were fairly kept but they really needed attention especially if you’re calling yourself a resort. They do have a restaurant and a bar but it’s only open in the winter for snowmobilers. The “continental” breakfast is cereal, eggo waffles, real hard boiled eggs, bagels, English muffins and some very tasty cinnamon rolls. You can tell this place must have been real nice at one time. I will say that 99% of the staff we encountered (including the owner) were super nice. They should drop the “resort” claim because it’s not anymore. Would I stay there again? I probably would.

Breakfast is continental but with fresh locally made cinnamon rolls (yum) There’s adequate parking even for trailers, but on Fridays, it does fill up fast with folks headed to the border the next am. Our go-to every time we are going through there. Definitely recommend it!!

Outside grounds not lit at night, garbage full for 2 days, no where to sit if a guest does not have a patio/balcony. Sitting by the door is set up for smokers. No housekeeping means large spider webs and spiders in your room. The hot water is dangerously hot and needs to be turned down. The value should be 70/ night. There is no pool, hot tub or Sauna.

Perfect!! The people at the front counter were awesome. The place was clean and comfortable. They even had the Brewer game on (Twins) We will be staying again next year.
