We loved the room and the lobby!! It would have been nice to have an elevator. Unfortunately there was no one to greet us or inform us about Dunsmuir. The available ice, it was hot out, was very limited. Next time I would request a room on the first floor and expect a better rate.

The room was excellent and so was the bathroom. If you don’t mind self check in it’s a great place to stay. The only thing that made us uneasy was that you have to park on the street and the town is basically abandoned. Never saw any of the other guests just their cars.

Only seven rooms in this property. One on the ground floor and six upstairs. No elevator so may not be great for people who can’t do stairs. It’s an old hotel that has been beautifully remodeled. Rooms are small but very comfortable with large bathroom and closet doors that have a small kitchenette. Comfortable beds and the rooms are extremely quiet. Unfortunately Dunsmuir is a dead town with almost no restaurants. The rooms in the hotel have a refrigerator, microwave, small sink and all the things you need to make a small meal. There if a Pizza parlor a half block away.

The interior has been tastefully renovated and the room and bathroom was well appointed and comfortable. Unfortunately, the town of Dunsmuir has seen better days and we were a little uneasy with parking our car on the street overnight.

The check in and check was process was super easy. The room was great and exactly as pictured. They had free ice in the lobby, which was a super nice touch considering it was 100 degrees outside. There are great bars and restaurants all within walking distance nearby. I loved this hotel and would recommend it. I will definitely stay here again!

It’s a lovely boutique hotel in a quaint part of California, easy to find and parking is on the street. Self check in was straight forward bye to a text I received earlier in the day. The room is very nice, clean and well stocked. We were very impressed.

The only surprise was lack of elevator. I only had three bags to carry, could be worse! The room and hotel in general is immaculate. I especially loved the huge bathroom. Quiet and comfortable. A nice eatery across the street. Easy walk to the train station.

There is no staff on site but Jerilyn answered immediately when I called to verify the entrance codes. The place is clean and very comfortable and nicely updated. The town has seen better days and remains quaint despite its recent challenges—it has a ton of potential. Excellent breakfast at the cornerstone cafe across the street. Beer up the road was also tasty. Note that only room 7 is on the entry level and there is no elevator. Out the back door is a nice deck area with a grill. We didn’t use — it looked tempting.

Mossbrae Hotel is a lovely decorated boutique hotel in Dunsmuir, CA. Our accommodations were spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed was so, so comfortable, the bathroom had two sinks and many extras, and there was lots of drawer/closet space! We would definitely recommend this hotel for those visiting the Mt. Shasta area! Our only wish would be that for the price of the accommodations a more convenient breakfast would have been available (the make-your-own oatmeal wasn't easy to make and no milk was provided). We did find an incredible bakery/cafe, Bee Kind, a couple blocks away that had amazing and delicious pastries, frittatas, and sandwiches that were made fresh daily and variety of coffee and other drinks! And, just a heads up, you'll need to go to Mt. Shasta City for restaurants.

This was clearly the sweet spot of downtown Dunsmuir. Small boutique hotel with only 7 quiet rooms, well-appointed with a French press, comfy bed linens, large clean bathroom, and the coolest electric tea kettle. Would definitely stay here next time in the area.

Really cute quaint hotel with 6 rooms. It’s a special place. Room number 5 was nicely appointed. Very comfortable. Big Lovely Bathroom with a soaking tub, and a convenient kitchenette in a converted closet. I am thinking the other rooms are just as nice. Staff recommended the Cafe Maddalena and made a reservation for us. It was excellent, too! Mossbrae seems like a big step up from nearby motels. Try it out!

This hotel is in a very strange little town off 1-5. My husband and I had a late check in (arrived about 10:30pm) and there were to belligerently drunk men (locals) stumbling around in the road leading to the hotel, and we almost hit a stray dog that was sprinting back and forth in front of our car. Needless to say I did not feel safe, luckily I was not alone. I would recommend if you are a single female staying at this hotel and plan to arrive late or leave early, bring personal protection. The hotel is gorgeous, one of the nicest I’ve stayed in. The front door and your room are accessed by a code which is great because no one has to be there to check you in. The other guests were very quiet, we never heard any of them. We got to bring our dog which was great. The room is immaculate and very beautifully decorated. The mattress is a comfortable memory foam mattress but is on a rickety metal frame that has a lot of motion transfer. The bathroom had a heated tile floor (amazing). The coffee set up left a little to be desired. My suggestion to the hotel is to have something a bit more upscale considering how fancy the rest of your room is. My only other criticism is the hotel is backed up to an active railway and train station so at 3am, a train went by and blasted its whistle! It woke my husband and I out of a dead sleep and was a bit terrifying. I would still stay here again though.

I was in room 4 and it was lovely and the bed very comfy, tho it did crick when I turned over. Lol. TV has many apps to choose from. Shower very large and nice. I enjoyed my stay very much and will certainly stay there again when visiting family there.

Cute town, tiny tiny room. The bathroom was probably the same size as the room... the shower was great except the floor ends up soaked because of the setup and the shower curtain sticks to you... the cable kept going out, which was frustrating, bed was not very comfortable, and my room was right next to the laundry room, so you could hear that.. no responses to any of the texts i sent, which ghey told you to text if uou needed anything... i just dont know why the reviews are exceptional. Its ok for a quick overnight stay. Definitely would t want to stay longer than that.

Considering the door to the lobby was locked, with no note. Knocking on the door didn't work. Tried calling and all I could get was reservations. She knew nothing, as she was snow bound. Nothing I could do but get back on the road in a snowstorm!!!

The lady was so nice gave us an idea of what to do for dinner and upgraded our room for our anniversary. Even wrote us a little card with some cool candy. Very quiet easy to sleep but was not happy with the apple tv that we could not watch

We expected this hotel to be charming based on the photos and were very disappointed so much so that we decided to stay elsewhere and forfeit our prepayment for the room The hotel is on a depressed street and has no parking so you park on the street. To quote my husband the exterior gave him the creeps The front door was locked and when a receptionist came to let us in rather than welcome us she wanted to know if we had gotten a text with room and hotel entry instructions We had not - she had texted the wrong number but seemed not to care and told us the room was not ready so we had to come back The price of the room was on the high end for the area and we were treated lwith disinterest We left and decided to stay in a cabin in Mt shasta instead which cost less and was fine

The ability to check in at anytime was wonderful. They simply sent us a text that included both codes into the facility and our room. It was a small but beautiful quiet place.

There is no staff on site but Jerilyn answered immediately when I called to verify the entrance codes. The place is clean and very comfortable and nicely updated. The town has seen better days and remains quaint despite its recent challenges—it has a ton of potential. Excellent breakfast at the cornerstone cafe across the street. Beer up the road was also tasty. Note that only room 7 is on the entry level and there is no elevator. Out the back door is a nice deck area with a grill. We didn’t use — it looked tempting.

I couldn’t recommend this place more. Super clean and comfortable. While I was here, there was a snowstorm and everything was closed. The front desk staff knew of a deli that was open and went to grab sandwiches for me and my friend. When we offered to pay, she wouldn’t accept money. Hospitality was excellent. Later on in the evening, she texted me to let me know that there was a restaurant open for dinner.

We planned our stay from 22nd to 26th Dec. Through out our stay the front desk was closed. The only way to communicate to hotel stuff is by text(no call). We went with a toddler and it was scary for us. I never stayed in hotel like this. The room service was okay but absence was front desk was little scary for a family with toddler.

Mossbrae Hotel is a lovely decorated boutique hotel in Dunsmuir, CA. Our accommodations were spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed was so, so comfortable, the bathroom had two sinks and many extras, and there was lots of drawer/closet space! We would definitely recommend this hotel for those visiting the Mt. Shasta area! Our only wish would be that for the price of the accommodations a more convenient breakfast would have been available (the make-your-own oatmeal wasn't easy to make and no milk was provided). We did find an incredible bakery/cafe, Bee Kind, a couple blocks away that had amazing and delicious pastries, frittatas, and sandwiches that were made fresh daily and variety of coffee and other drinks! And, just a heads up, you'll need to go to Mt. Shasta City for restaurants.

This hotel is in a very strange little town off 1-5. My husband and I had a late check in (arrived about 10:30pm) and there were to belligerently drunk men (locals) stumbling around in the road leading to the hotel, and we almost hit a stray dog that was sprinting back and forth in front of our car. Needless to say I did not feel safe, luckily I was not alone. I would recommend if you are a single female staying at this hotel and plan to arrive late or leave early, bring personal protection. The hotel is gorgeous, one of the nicest I’ve stayed in. The front door and your room are accessed by a code which is great because no one has to be there to check you in. The other guests were very quiet, we never heard any of them. We got to bring our dog which was great. The room is immaculate and very beautifully decorated. The mattress is a comfortable memory foam mattress but is on a rickety metal frame that has a lot of motion transfer. The bathroom had a heated tile floor (amazing). The coffee set up left a little to be desired. My suggestion to the hotel is to have something a bit more upscale considering how fancy the rest of your room is. My only other criticism is the hotel is backed up to an active railway and train station so at 3am, a train went by and blasted its whistle! It woke my husband and I out of a dead sleep and was a bit terrifying. I would still stay here again though.

I was in room 4 and it was lovely and the bed very comfy, tho it did crick when I turned over. Lol. TV has many apps to choose from. Shower very large and nice. I enjoyed my stay very much and will certainly stay there again when visiting family there.

The interior has been tastefully renovated and the room and bathroom was well appointed and comfortable. Unfortunately, the town of Dunsmuir has seen better days and we were a little uneasy with parking our car on the street overnight.

Beautiful original features that were unique. The area is beautiful, but the town has a lot of abandoned buildings, and limited dining experiences. It looks like they are trying to revive the town with a beautiful mural and it is worth reviving! It is a beautiful location with a lot of history and a great vibe. Just unfortunate loss of businesses probably over the last 5 years.

We stayed Christmas night. No staff at hotel either at check-in or check- out but entry instructions were good. Manager was available by text and helped us find the only restaurant in town that was open - Penny's Diner, truly open 24/7. The room was very nice, very clean and recently renovated. Loved the big bathtub. No amenities, room had small kitchenette with counter, mini-fridge, microwave and dishes - very useful. Located just a minutes off Interstate 5, very convenient for our long drive north. Located in little downtown Dunsmuir which had a few tourist type shops that might have been of interest if not closed for the holiday.

The only surprise was lack of elevator. I only had three bags to carry, could be worse! The room and hotel in general is immaculate. I especially loved the huge bathroom. Quiet and comfortable. A nice eatery across the street. Easy walk to the train station.

We stayed for one night with our dog and had a great stay! The hotel is charming and beautiful. The room was on the small side, but had everything we needed, bathroom was large and very well done. The amenities were great. Location was perfect as we could walk to a cute little wine bar and to other restaurants in the area. Check in was easy and convenient. We'll be back.

Very nice hotel and stay, beautiful room, incredibly comfortable bed and pillows. Dunsmuir has early closing times and variable days where restaurants are not open, so food options are limited. Would be nice if the hotel offered a continental breakfast.

I usually stay in Ashland, OR on my way back home from visiting So Cal, but wanted to try something new. I can stay in hotels with way more amenities for $75 less a night in Ashland. We also had a note that there would be a fresh pot of coffee and oatmeal in the lobby in the morning and there wasn’t. There wasn’t even filtered water for the tea kettles that are in the rooms. Come prepared if you stay here. So we hunted down a cute coffee shop and spent more money on food and drinks that I typically see the cost of in bigger cities.

The room was well updated with plenty of extras which was nice. The hot water takes a very long time to get warm. The shower was very slippery so perhaps a mat would be helpful. Loved the heated bathroom floor.

I did a good amount of research, and I was very pleased with my choice of hotel. The place - and the whole town - are really charming! Note: Absolutely confirm with the hotel prior to arriving ... The front desk isn't always open, so you need codes to enter the hotel and your room.

This is a beautifully restored property, done in an early 20th-century style, that made us feel like the developers understood what weary travelers need to feel cared for. In addition to the plush, firm but well-padded king-sized bed with an abundance of pillows, the suite featured a kitchenette with high-quality dishware, sink, and microwave; a living room with loveseat, desk, and TV; an additional alcove with a sofabed; multiple closets; and (best of all) a luxurious bathroom with two sinks, adequate shelving, a padded bench, high quality shower over tub (with hinged glass door), and separate water closet. The decorative touches completed the experience, including a period chandelier over the bed.
This is a beautifully restored property, done in an early 20th-century style, that made us feel like the developers understood what weary travelers need to feel cared for. Great hotel! We wanted an upscale boutique stay along I-5 in Northern California and the Mossbrae was a jackpot. Cute little town with restaurants, a microbrewery, and if you are lucky (like we were), live music. Its a beautiful spot and is 15 degrees cooler than Redding or Medford OR
