A wonderful place to stay, quiet, rooms well furnished, the towels were fantastic, the breakfast was outstanding. Cookies and cake were available along with a choice of beverages. The staff is friendly kind and courteous. We highly recommend this establishment!

Nice spot to stay at. This was part of a larger road trip. It was a nice change from the typical hotel/motel. The description on your website says that it’s in a National Park. It is not. If you have a problem with climbing steps you shouldn’t stay here or request ground floor. The stairway was narrow and steep and the steps are short. I didn’t have an issue but my companion did. Breakfast and decor were great!

Perfect little overnight getaway to celebrate a birthday. Great hospitality, breakfast fresh & hot. Rooms were cute, beds comfortable even toiletries in case you forgot something. The island is nice even in the off season & a rainy day. The inn has games, books, so many movies to use during your stay. I highly recommend this place!

The property was just lovely. Beautifully landscaped and such a pretty detached screened porch. The bedroom was roomy and the bed was super comfy. My sister and I stayed the night and enjoyed the staff and felt very at home. We would definitely stay there again !!!

Check in was easy but we were not welcomed very warmly.we were quickly told that we were not in a parking space and would need to move our car. Breakfast was served buffet style but no host or hostess was seem to see if our needs were being met. Everything was clean and inviting but the shower was growing a field of mildew along the base. It doesn’t take much effort to clean that now before it gets worse.

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast. It was amazing! The home was beautiful, clean, and cozy. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding! We really loved the old home and all the antiques. Awesome location convenient to everything but away from the busier areas! We will definitely be back!

This was our third BnB on our current extensive trip in the USA. The room and bed were comfortable and clean. The host was pleasant but not overly interested in us as a couple or the trip we are undertaking. There was a good selection of food laid on for breakfast but no explanation to non Americans of what anything was which was a bit off putting when you are not familiar with regional delicacies. The Wi-Fi was terrible which unfortunately was important to us. Our bathroom was tiny, which we appreciate in such older style properties can be an issue but it needed a total upgrade with really poor mastic preventing water escaping. The property looks tired and slightly stuck in a time warp. We did venture out to the gazebo and it was nice to watch the humming birds but with two overflowing ashtrays I found this a bit off putting. This was mid range of the prices we have paid on this trip and didn’t live up to expectation- sorry

Jeanne was a great host. The suite was cozy and quiet. Bed slept wonderful. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices between hot items, friut and juices. We absolutely loved our stay! Quaint rooms with everything you need. The bed was amazing, as was the breakfast with lots of options ranging from various fruits to cooked Southern breakfast staples. We very much enjoyed our conversations with Jeanne, the owner. We definitely recommend the Island House of Wanchese and hope to return soon ourselves!

This was in a very old house. Beautiful antiques inside. Very kind and hospitable post. She made a carrot cake that was absolutely amazing. We didn’t get to spend much time there as we were fishing early in the morning however, I would definitely recommend to stay. The beds are full-size but extremely comfortable.

Top notch! Hosts were really kind and amazing and this is an authentic gem of a staycation house. Must recommend. Breakfast on point. Even they helped me with their son to fix my car. I’ll definitely book them next time.

I enjoyed my visit very much until I got a phone call asking if I had taken a bird house from the property. I was disgusted and very upset. I would never steal. I was driving when I got the call and could hardly hear what she was saying. It made my 5 hr drive very anxious. I called back when I got to my destination and had to leave a message requesting I get a call back. No one has ever called me back. So sad because I did enjoy the wonderful breakfast served every morning. The home is very interesting and filled with wonderful things to check out. I won’t go back.

Quaint house and Jeanne, Bernie, and Kenny were great. Made you feel very welcome. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Room was comfy and the best nights sleep. Hope we'll stay there again. 😊

This is an amazing get away and the hosts are fantastic. they have thought of just about everything you can think of to make your stay comfortable and unique. From extra toiletries to after hour help, everything was amazing. We will be back!

Went there for a night for my boyfriend's birthday and it was beautiful and so welcoming! The staff were all so nice and the breakfast tasted equal to my southern grandma. Would definitely recommend!

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast. It was amazing! The home was beautiful, clean, and cozy. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The food was outstanding! We really loved the old home and all the antiques. Awesome location convenient to everything but away from the busier areas! We will definitely be back!

Nice spot to stay at. This was part of a larger road trip. It was a nice change from the typical hotel/motel. The description on your website says that it’s in a National Park. It is not. If you have a problem with climbing steps you shouldn’t stay here or request ground floor. The stairway was narrow and steep and the steps are short. I didn’t have an issue but my companion did. Breakfast and decor were great!

We loved our stay at Island House of Wanchese! Beautiful home. Lots of nostalgia. Convenience of everything but also tucked away in a quiet dreamy island town. Hosts were great and breakfast is wonderful!! Definitely recommend!

Inconvenient location, dated house with too many tchotchkes, very narrow steep stairs to rooms. Positive aspects: lovely couple who runs the B&B, very clean, comfortable bed, delicious treats available for guests.

Top notch! Hosts were really kind and amazing and this is an authentic gem of a staycation house. Must recommend. Breakfast on point. Even they helped me with their son to fix my car. I’ll definitely book them next time.

A wonderful place to stay, quiet, rooms well furnished, the towels were fantastic, the breakfast was outstanding. Cookies and cake were available along with a choice of beverages. The staff is friendly kind and courteous. We highly recommend this establishment!

The host was extremely gracious and knowledgeable of the area. The home was stunning and beautiful.The southern breakfast was delicious. Everything about the stay was wonderful and I would highly recommend it. The house is 102 years old.

This is so much more than a B&B. It is history, family, it is so cozy I felt at home. Breakfast was amazing, you can see that everything is handmade and fresh. The room was beautifully furnished and the mattress was so good, better than many hotels we've stayed along the way. The staff was amazing, always ready to help and they gave us tips about OBX. We recommend this place 100%.

Our stay was fabulous and the sweet couple who maintains the property do a wonderful job of making you feel at home. Amazing breakfast and such an eclectic walk through history inside their home. What a cool property. So close to everything and lots of personal touches.

Everything about the Island House was fabulous! The host, Bernie and Kenny are great and prepared wonderful breakfast and snacks, especially the carrot cake with cream cheese icing! The location is good also, conveniently located to everything. We definitely hope to come back soon!🌸
