The house is a beautiful old home with an eclectic decor of antiques. Bill certainly has an eye for interior design. Central to downtown SJ near restaurants, bars and the harbour. It is a short drive to Signal Hill and other attractions. A bit hot with no AC on a sweaty summer night but definitely a cool place to stay.

Beautiful historic B & B, makes you feel like you’re in a different time period. The place is so well taken care off. It also has a nice social room to meet other guests and a large kitchen where you could prepare some of your own meals. Nice and quick breakfast options to get you started for the day.

What a find! Our host Bill has done a remarkable job over the years of filling the home with interesting memorabilia. More like a museum than a bed and breakfast. Bill is very well organized and greeted us with a free parking pass and a full tour of the house. Never had trouble finding street parking right outside the door. Many restaurants and bars are within 3 or 4 blocks and the hills give you a workout to wear off the food.

The owner was very genuine and welcoming, I enjoyed the sailor motif and collected items in the room I stayed. There was not air conditioning but a fan was enough to keep me comfortable there even in the summer.

The beautifully restored house and the antique items were the highlight of the visit - just sitting in my bedroom or one of the sitting rooms, or walking down the stairs to go out the door, revealed interesting new details to enjoy. In terms of amenities, my room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Little touches like a basket to carry my toiletries to the bathroom showed a great deal of attention to guests\' comfort and convenience. I loved my stay at the Gower Manor so much when I first arrived that I booked it again before my return home. The Manor is charming, full of treasures and impeccably clean. Bill is full of information and stories. Highly recommend.

We adored the manor. It’s quirky but welcoming. Bill makes sure you have everything you need and is an excellent guide for exploring the area. The aesthetic is historic and unique. A perfect location and we would 100% stay again.

Me and my wife loved staying at Gower Manor! Bill gave us a splendid tour of the historic building and was very helpful throughout our stay. Loved perusing through Bill's collection of old books. Hope to come back!

This is a must stay in St. John’s! It was such an interesting place and felt very homey. The owner, Bill, is very approachable and kind. The building has a very interesting history. It was so cool to stay in this Victorian styled home! It is walking distance to downtown, the rooms, and Signal Hill! Great location. Would 100% recommend this to people seeking to stay in a place with historic significance and homey feel!

L’hébergement est bien situé, avec une décoration très soignée. L’ennui est que l’accueil est particulièrement déplorable. Je ne suis pas arrivé à l’heure prévue, mon vol ayant eu un peu moins d’1 heure de retard, ce qui a manifestement agacé l’hôte qui ne s’est pas privé pour le faire sentir puisque ce sont les premiers mots d’accueil auxquels j’ai eu droit, et qui m’a indiqué que le Check out était à 10 h alors que la réservation disait midi. J’ai préféré partir à l’heure imposée. Je ne reviendrai pas.

We adored the manor. It’s quirky but welcoming. Bill makes sure you have everything you need and is an excellent guide for exploring the area. The aesthetic is historic and unique. A perfect location and we would 100% stay again.

This is a must stay in St. John’s! It was such an interesting place and felt very homey. The owner, Bill, is very approachable and kind. The building has a very interesting history. It was so cool to stay in this Victorian styled home! It is walking distance to downtown, the rooms, and Signal Hill! Great location. Would 100% recommend this to people seeking to stay in a place with historic significance and homey feel!

It would days to fully take everything in, as the the house is full of treasures. Also, I had the best, hottest bath in years. Perfect location to walking up Signal Hill and the coast.

Beautiful historic B & B, makes you feel like you’re in a different time period. The place is so well taken care off. It also has a nice social room to meet other guests and a large kitchen where you could prepare some of your own meals. Nice and quick breakfast options to get you started for the day.

Very friendly owner, house was always clean and comfortable. Food options were great! Issue we ran into was St John’s was in a heat wave and there was no air conditioning.Not usually an issue for this area but made for a couple sleepless nights.

A pretty blue historical home in a row of colourful clapboard houses, Gower Manor is a friendly and convenient place to stay in downtown St. John's. Bill shares his home, which is filled with antiques and collectables. He enjoys meeting the people who come to stay with him. I had the room at the top of the home with a comfortable twin bed, a useful antique oak desk, an antique dresser, an antique chair, and a glassfront antique bookcase. There was also an array of interesting artifacts. Breakfast was continental: coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice, hot or cold cereal, toast, yogurt. It is available "any time before lunch," to quote Bill. I would highly recommend staying at Gower Manor, as long as you don't mind sharing bathrooms.

Everything was great. Lovely house, good location, friendly host. I gave it a 4 because the breakfast was not what I usually expect for a bed and breakfast -- cold, serve yourself. On the other hand, we were free to eat when we wanted..... I would stay there again.

Wonderful stay! Honestly no bad things to say about this place at all. The decor was beautiful, the host was friendly, kind, and gave helpful advice, there was wonderful continental breakfast, place was very quiet, walkable to anywhere you'd want to go. Would 10/10 stay here again

My 3-night stay in "Harry\'s Room" at the Gower Manor was fantastic. The beautifully restored house and the antique items were the highlight of the visit - just sitting in my bedroom or one of the sitting rooms, or walking down the stairs to go out the door, revealed interesting new details to enjoy. In terms of amenities, my room was spacious and clean, and the bed was comfortable. Little touches like a basket to carry my toiletries to the bathroom showed a great deal of attention to guests\' comfort and convenience. There were plenty of supplies for a simple breakfast (coffee, toast, cereal, muffins, etc.) every morning, and guests also had access to the kitchen and fridge to store and prepare their own food/drinks, which was appreciated. Finally, Bill was a great host - he was friendly and available to answer questions, and it was lovely to chat with him about the house, things to do in St. John\'s, and restoring antiques. If you\'re seeking a comfortable bed and breakfast experience with unique character, I would recommend the Gower Manor!

Lovely quaint B&B in a great location with amazing collection of antiques. Great breakfast choices and an opportunity to chat with the other guests. The only (small) downside was a shared bathroom, but we knew that in advance and it was not an issue. Decor was Victorian which may not be to everyone’s taste.

The host was impeccable. It's hard to feel comfortable there however as it's like being in an antique shop. Rooms not en suite leaves a feeling of lack of privacy. And you can't lock room if you're out. Suggestion to host to provide dressing robes as obviously en suite situation can't be overcome Bed sheets were clean but very dated/ worn. Could do with upgrade All said it was a unique house

Immaculately conceived and immaculately kept home that truly had every I needed and more - The location is blocks away from all four historic church museums and blocks away from the eclectic streets and culture of the most colourful city in the world - Thanks to our host Bill for his attention to detail and kind demeanour- God has certainly blessed his home and my experience here in St John’s; and the rest of Newfoundland I saw as well - Thank you - Until next time - Randall
