This is the sister hotel to The George (where you check in). It’s quite modern and access wise s via key cards with no reception. Rooms clean tidy and decently furnished and spacious. Car park is difficult to access and was full. A cheaper option is the NCP behind Fenwicks a short walk away.

I was very disappointed as I was not given instructions on the day of how ti check in or where to park after calling numerous times I then circled Colchester and as you can imagine for a friday afternoon it’s was busy!! Then find the George to be told not very politely instructions, then asked for a £25 holding fee! Was not told this on booking either. Said we could park further up road. Could not find it so ended up parking 10 min walk away from hotel!! And lugging our bags to hotel. It was advertised as air con in room but just a fan. Was boiling n stuffy. The lift was not working either. This was £107 for the night plus £25. I’d say this was not worth it at all. No where to park or pull over with bags. Was a very stressful experience. Will not be booking here again. Premier inn All the way!!!

The hotel is nice but parking is very difficult as is a very small public car park and difficult to locate with a sat nav. Once arrived at the car park there were no spaces so we ended up parking in an electric car parking space until a space became free, not ideal.

The hotel is in a very busy part of town, consequently it was noisy late into the morning. Car parking is very difficult to find near by, and the one way system is a pain if you miss your turning.

Nice clean rooms . Perfect location for the town centre and castle venue . We went to a concert. Downside . No climate control rooms were hot so windows open .. traffic and public noise. Nice balconies. No actual hotel facilities as it is an annex of the George hotel across the street.

A lovely hotel in the centre of Colchester. We were there for the hottest days of the year. It has no air con and It’s next door to a busy pub so having the window open makes it quite noisy at night. There is no fridge in the room either which should be standard if there no air con. Would not stay again in the summer, it needs air conditioning.

This hotel is an annex of the George hotel with nice rooms good showers and great location . We were in room 706 which being on the High Street side was noisy with the window open due to the warm temperatures and lack of AC. The TV was in danger of falling off the wall. That being said it was a good value stay although a walk over the road for breakfast was fine for us due to the great weather but would have been less desirable in the wet

Room was clean, tidy, functional and had sufficient features. The balcony was a great addition. The view over the town was super. It overlooks the street so accept there will be town noise on a Friday./Saturday night. Does mean it is superbly situated for city exploits. Only negative was parking. It was a busy weekend and the assigned car-park had only once space.

Room was fine. Bathroom however.. Revolting dust falling out of bathroom extractor. Shower door broken and shower head broken. No aircon so either suffocate or get to lie awake most of the night listening to the noise from Colchester’s many drunks.

Hand print in what looked like blood on the wall next to the bed, accompanied by a large thumb print in the same material. The rest of the wall, and the room in general seemed dirty. Very noisy even with windows shut, which meant there was no air in the room. Breakfast order incorrect and food bland.

Flooring in lift was danaged and I tripped over it. Room was tatty, curtain hanging of the curtain pole. Divan was damaged excrement stains on towels. Was also really hot, thermostat was not working, thankfully patio doors worked, however the moise from Colchester City Centre is more like Colchester Zoo. Horrendous experience, worst hotel ever.

Disappointing stay. The bathroom was unclean and had multiple hairs on the toilet; the toilet seat was stained yellow. The bed linen had fresh blood stains on. I contacted reception and they quickly apologised and changed my room - so very responsive. The room moved to was cold, and just had a portable oil heater to plug in to heat. Cleanliness was still of a low standard with stained fixtures and fittings. Net curtains were thick with dust. No WiFi password provided. Guidebook qr code takes you to the main hotel information - but not St Nicholas. I had to phone reception to get the code.

Me and my son stayed here for three nights as we were visiting family in Colchester. It was very easy to check in over the road at The George and check out was easy too just leave your cards in the box before leaving. Our room was very clean and comfortable and certainly had everything we needed for our stay. We didn't book breakfast so I cannot comment on the food but I'm sure it would have been fantastic like everything else. I will definitely be staying here again when I come to visit my son and his family again. Would highly recommend.

Checked in okay and the people at the front desk were lovely. The main building looked very nice and was done up well. I was in the part across the road which didn’t look as nice at all. Getting in was all fine but when I entered the room, there were bright green stains all over the floor, marks all over the walls, the toilet seat had a stain the whole way around it and there was hair EVERYWHERE…the more you looked, the more you found

Very nice all round, but, and it’s a big but, the room was the hottest hotel room I have ever stayed in!! Huge windows that only open an inch or so, so you can’t get any air in to the room. They provided a fan, which did help but not a lot. The irony is the hallways outside the rooms were lovely and cool as they had air con!!

Managed to get parked at the George Hotel across the road for £12.50 for the night. Room at this hotel didn’t have air con but there was a fan. Really good shower, tea coffee etc (no fridge) there was also an iron and hairdryer. Room was positioned above the High Street and we stayed on a Saturday night so there were some noises from the street but that’s to be expected. The hotel itself was quiet and very much the kind of thing you’d expect at a Premier Inn. We would stay again if needing somewhere in Colchester

City-centre location excellent though ear plugs essential on a Saturday night! TV remote control needs replacing as some essential buttons didn’t work. A mattress topper would have helped the comfort level. Lovely firm mattress and super-king bed but with a king duvet inside a super-king cover, which was annoying.

Checking in was excellent and quick, at The George hotel across the road. The St Nikolas hotel itself made good first impressions. However, when night-time came, the mattress was found to be too hard for our liking, as were the pillows. Street noise though was what kept us awake till deep into the night (a Saturday night) with noisy drunks outside and sound-proofing of the windows being very poor. We thought the windows were open! So if you stay here, bring earplugs (and avoid Saturday evenings, likely Fridays also).

The hotel try to charge me more. I booked via Expedia’s and pay to the hotel. But the hotel either trying to scam me or bad system, they said my rate per night is £180 instead of £90. Then I showed them the confirmation from Expedia. They have to asked me to get the correct rate. Then when check out, they said there is something wrong with our payment!!! We already paid in full when checking in, of course we refused to pay more. Terrible service. Also the rooms are in poor condition. Try to avoid this hotel if you can.

Amazing wonderful stay in Colchester once again. We’ve stayed at this hotel several times before. On the plus side we were given a free upgrade to a wonderful room with the balcony. Hotel is part of the George Hotel which I strongly recommend for a Sunday lunch. All staff at hotel were amazing

Excellent location, surrounded by many great restaurants. Only staff we say was for check-in and check-out. They were friendly and efficient. Parking was also easy and convenient.

Very good room and loved it being in centre of town . Staff were very accommodating I asked for sheets for sofa bed and they arrived in 5 minutes

We can recommend this hotel unreservedly. Staff went out of their way to help us with our problems and make us comfortable. We first had to change our reservation due to the train strike and Joey took care of that, next we wanted twin instead of double beds and Emily took care of that. Everytime we asked for help they were able to do something. The hotel is very conveniently located in the high street, clean and welcoming. Food in the bar is excellent.

Was woken up at 4am by my next door neighbours having a full on part. I had work at 7 am and had very little sleep which is not what you expect paying a lot of money to stay at a hotel when you got a hard days work the next day. when I went to reception to report it the girl behind the counter just brushed it off because they had checked out and wouldn’t be next to me for the rest of my stay which was very disappointing to say the least not even an apology

Smart, clean, new hotel and good value for money. Conveniently located on the high street. We stayed on a Friday and the High Street is very very noisy until the wee small hours. The lads like to ride at speed on noisy motor bikes in groups along the High Street.

Excellent location near castle park for concert but this has its downside that it is on the main road near bars etc . Very noisy . You need the window open otherwise too hot . People outside in road shouting / drinking at 4am to 4.30 am . The hotel clean . Shower hot . Bed comfortable . Good value for money . Car park £12 for 24 hours is small and open to everyone and very small . NCP close thought and still £12 for 24 hours so parking okay

Nice clean rooms . Perfect location for the town centre and castle venue . We went to a concert. Downside . No climate control rooms were hot so windows open .. traffic and public noise. Nice balconies. No actual hotel facilities as it is an annex of the George hotel across the street.

We stayed here for a few nights. Our room was clean, reasonably comfortable, and it had a spacious bathroom. The location is very convenient for access to central Colchester, but it is noisy. There was a lot of noise from the rubbish and recycling bins, from motorbikes (possibly delivery drivers), and from music. I would still consider staying here again, but if you are sensitive to noise or a light sleeper then you need to consider this issue.

The room was very warm even though not a hot day outside. There was air conditioning in the corridors but not the room. I received an email during the day saying that I would receive an upgrade to a suite due to the lift being out of action however when I checked in I was told that I couldn't have an upgrade even when I complained about the room being too hot. Apparently my suite had been given to somebody else. Also when we went for dinner at 8.15 we were told that the kitchen had closed early so that the grilles/canopies could be cleaned. We were not told that we needed to eat earlier due to this when we checked in. We were offered a dessert only! I work in the restaurant business and all maintenance of this kind is planned out of hours so as to not disrupt the customer experience. This should have been the case here. There were still people in the restaurant eating. They should have at least waited to do the work until the service had finished. Apart from that poor experience the rooms were nice,

We have stayed here before for the location which is perfectly situated near all the shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and warm and has everything needed like an iron, hairdryer, kettle, tea/coffee etc. A mini fridge in the room would make the stay extra special. The staff are always pleasant and professional and helpful. The breakfast which is at the sister hotel The George, has a lovely choice and delicious food. The only negative's is that we were 2 adults and an infant and were provided with a disabled wet room, with no bath. The staff offered to change this the 2nd night but we'd settled by this point with the cot. Next time we'll make a note to request a bath in a family room. Also no allocated parking reservation, just a first come basis parking which is located behind The George which is convenient. But would still recommend this place and would definitely stay again.

Amazing wonderful stay in Colchester once again. We’ve stayed at this hotel several times before. On the plus side we were given a free upgrade to a wonderful room with the balcony. Hotel is part of the George Hotel which I strongly recommend for a Sunday lunch. All staff at hotel were amazing

Excellent location, surrounded by many great restaurants. Only staff we say was for check-in and check-out. They were friendly and efficient. Parking was also easy and convenient.

This hotel is an annex of the George hotel with nice rooms good showers and great location . We were in room 706 which being on the High Street side was noisy with the window open due to the warm temperatures and lack of AC. The TV was in danger of falling off the wall. That being said it was a good value stay although a walk over the road for breakfast was fine for us due to the great weather but would have been less desirable in the wet

Second time here. Was lovely. Had a few issues with a kettle and the water not running hot and the toilet flushing, but Joshua a member of staff was so helpful and sorted it quickly for us. Views amazing. Location perfect. Parking is easy.

The room itself was really clean the only problem was most hotels iv been 2 had aircon this did not for the price i paid i would of expected there to ve aircon, other that that staff were helpfull food was amazing

DO OT stay here in the summer. no aircon, windows open at the top about 3 inches. Small fan supplied in room, with short flex that will not reach the window opening. Also rooms face onto the highstreet, or perhaps worse a bar with outdoor seating. So window open and all you get it noise. If you love the heat an own earplus this is the hotel room for you ! Positives - good shower, clean room, breakfast was nice.
