Sinom Borobudur Heritage Hotel

The positive: the A/C worked well and the bed was comfortable which made for a good night’s sleep. The staff were friendly. The pool was clean and a nice thing after a hot day of touring. Breakfast was decent. The guest chooses two items, either Indonesian or Western. The unimportant: yes, there is a 4:00 am call to prayer but it is brief and one can go back to sleep. The negative: the furniture in the room is old and somewhat beat-up. There is not even a chair to sit on. There was a strong chemical odor on entering the room. It was an effort to mask an even worse odor: sewer gas coming from the shower drain which obviously lacks a simple gas trap. I “solved” this issue by placing the bath mat over the drain when I wasn’t using the shower. In general the room was scruffy. The tile floor was quite new but not the door or the walls. Look at the accompanying photos. I don’t feel bad posting only the ugly stuff as their photos on Hotels.com feature only nice views.
