Caroline and staff were lovely. Very nice establishment that is not too far from local shops. Beautiful view of the lakes from the porch. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed the tea time.

The breakfast each morning was a true highlight. Homemade treats in the middle of day and quiet at night covered all our needs.The whirlpool and heated indoor pool was available for a small fee at hotel next door Zoey at the front desk made us feel special. Caroline was on top of all our request. Great stay

I truly enjoyed my stay at Pine Cottage. My room had an amazing view of the water and docks, and I just spent time sitting in my room and enjoying the view. The staff was really friendly and the food was excellent. I also loved the rocking chairs on the porch - I spent time reading there.

Overall, it was a great place to stay. The staff was so friendly and very helpful with explaining how the luggage would get to the place. The building itself was also very pretty and I really liked the large porch. The location was good since it was close to the downtown area and the bed was very comfortable. I also really enjoyed sitting in the living room area and playing a game. There was quite a selection of games! There were a few things that I didn't like... the building is up a hill and then I was on the 3rd floor so it was a bit difficult for me considering I'm over 50 and not in the best shape. I also didn't like the small sink in the bathroom and the very small shelf. I could barely put a toothbrush and toothpaste on the shelf. The breakfast was also just ok.

Although a shared bathroom is not ideal any wait time was not bad. They had a full size box fan in the room which was awesome. We were on the second floor, which is four flights of stairs and they brought all of our luggage to our room. Check in was easy and the hand writtsn welcome cards and messages were great.

The property is just a short way up the street from the main thoroughfare, in a quiet spot. The B&B is beautiful and renovated authentically to its era. Attention to details, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast is delicious, buffet style, and a nice touch is the afternoon tea time with a scrumptious mega-cookie and tea/coffee in the dining room. A lovely place I would return to.

We loved this amazing Bed and Breakfast. Staff was fantastic the breakfast was amazingly delicious. An egg scramble with sausage, potatoes, gravy. Lots of other choices as well. The blueberry muffins tasted like it just came out of the oven!!! We were able to leave our overnight backpack so we could hike for the day. I highly recommend!!!!!! We are celebrating our 50th Ann!

Great experience if you don’t mind sharing a bathroom with others. Rooms were clean and bed was comfortable. Caretaker was friendly. Porters brought our bags from ferry and deposited in our room. Room was a bit noisy when other restrooms were being used. Each room had its own mini-split HVAC so room stayed very nice and cold during a few hot summer days, bathroom and halls were warm as they were not in AC

Pine cottage is an affordable, cozy, quaint, comfortable, and welcoming overnight accommodation. I’ve stayed there 3 times and enjoy it every time. I choose the option to share a bathroom to save money and the bathrooms are always clean it’s like you’re not sharing it with anyone. There’s a cute big porch you can sit out on and read. It’s far enough away from the busyness of downtown that it’s quiet but close enough that you can walk and enjoy everything. Rumor is that it’s haunted but I’ve never witnessed any paranormal activity :)

This bed & breakfast is what I would consider a “hidden gem” on Mackinac Island. It is charming, historic, impeccably clean, and the free breakfast is delicious and looks like something out of a story book. We were apprehensive about the shared bathrooms, but it was a non-issue. The bathrooms were spotless & right across the hall. We would absolutely stay again.

We loved staying at Pine Cottage. The staff running the hotel were so friendly and accommodating. The rooms were updated and so clean. Loved the extra perk of having bath robes! Breakfast was amazing! I would definitely come back again!

The room was smaller than expected but totally acceptable. This was a very clean and well maintained bed and breakfast in a quiet location. The innkeepers were very helpful and pleasant to interact with.

We stayed in a room with shared bathrooms but one of them was under construction. We could barely get into the bathroom on our floor. Also had 2 holes in our floorboards that made us feel very uncomfortable as you hear stories about cameras and stuff like that. The room was extremely small and very little room for luggage or to lounge. Just a place to sleep. I was badly injured in a slip and fall accident on the island and the hotel did refund our money for for all except 1 of the nights we reserved (checked out around 4pm when I was discharged from the emergency room on the island, so I understand why they charged us for that night). The breakfast and cookies were good and the staff very nice just wasn’t the place for us.

A very nice historic building to stay in with nice amenities. We really enjoyed our weekend at Pine Cottage. The staff were polite, helpful and kind. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Just a short walk to bike rentals, shopping, park, trails, and water. They hosted a great breakfast as well along with tea time and books/games to enjoy.We would definitely stay again.

The room was small but comfortable. The owners and employees were all lovely people. Breakfast was good and we appreciated the afternoon tea and cookies. We had a shared bathroom which was inconvenient at times. The bathroom was quite small and the tub had high sides which would be hard for people with accessibility issues.

Pine Cottage is a good location at a reasonable price. However you do get what you pay for. The room had a private bath but if you are tall you will not fit in this tiny shower. The room was very small with maybe 12 inches of space between the bed and the wall and closet. There was not enough outlets for two people to charge devices unless you want to charge dangerously close to the toilet and sink. If you want coffee and breakfast you better be there before 9 am. Food and coffee runs out and are not replenished. The cookies at tea time are fresh baked and delicious and those did not run out for some crazy reason. I had asked for the hotel staff to book a taxi for me but they refused. I called the Taxi company myself then understood why the hotel didn't want to call them. Its clear the hotel staff wanted me to experience the taxi service's rudeness first hand as the taxi service told me to call back later. I would not stay here again. If you want to experience what a canned sardine feels like , give pine cottage a try.

We thoroughly adored Mackinac Island. Our stay at Pine Cottage was very good. We had a spacious room with a fabulous view of the bay. Everything was clean and we had a super sized bed which we loved. Breakfast was something different and delicious everyday and really set us up for the day. The cottage is in a super location for the island and it's great to rent bikes whilst here so you can see the island very easily.

The location is great being only a 5-8 minute walk to the main downtown street on the island. Our room was nice and was one of the rooms with a private bathroom. I do wish there were more outlets in the room itself (not just in the bathroom or hidden behind large furniture in the room); we struggled to charge our phones, etc. The bathroom is very small with basically no counter space. It would be great if a shelf or two was added to the wall for a place to put our toiletries. The breakfast was a pretty simple continental breakfast (usually one hot dish and then some grab and go pastries, yogurt, cereal). They do tea and coffee time everyday from 4-5 with fresh baked cookies. My biggest complaint is that it was impossible to get ahold of them by phone. I tried calling a few days before our reservation to confirm some things and was on hold for almost 30 mins; eventually it took me to the voicemail which I left my number and never received a call back. I had to email them instead which is fine if the matter is not urgent, but if you need something immediately I have no idea how you would get in contact with them.

We had the king suite room# 14. The view was great however the A/C was broken so it was hot. They sent the carpenter to fix it but needless to say he couldn't. Nice guy though.I had to open the windows and listen to loud people under the window until after midnight. There was a very bright floodlight on the adjacent building that made it like daytime all night. The pillows were 12 inches thick. I didn't sleep much at all. Very disappointing for $427.00.

Was on the 3rd floor king bed room with private bath…my wife loved the view of the water and arriving ferry boats while lying in bed. The mattress was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on.

Caroline and staff were lovely. Very nice establishment that is not too far from local shops. Beautiful view of the lakes from the porch. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed the tea time.

My daughter and I had a great time. The room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with several options to choose from. And just as important, the coffee was perfect. The staff was very comminating, even at 9:30pm when we were locked out of our room.

Pine Cottage is a good location at a reasonable price. However you do get what you pay for. The room had a private bath but if you are tall you will not fit in this tiny shower. The room was very small with maybe 12 inches of space between the bed and the wall and closet. There was not enough outlets for two people to charge devices unless you want to charge dangerously close to the toilet and sink. If you want coffee and breakfast you better be there before 9 am. Food and coffee runs out and are not replenished. The cookies at tea time are fresh baked and delicious and those did not run out for some crazy reason. I had asked for the hotel staff to book a taxi for me but they refused. I called the Taxi company myself then understood why the hotel didn't want to call them. Its clear the hotel staff wanted me to experience the taxi service's rudeness first hand as the taxi service told me to call back later. I would not stay here again. If you want to experience what a canned sardine feels like , give pine cottage a try.

The location is great being only a 5-8 minute walk to the main downtown street on the island. Our room was nice and was one of the rooms with a private bathroom. I do wish there were more outlets in the room itself (not just in the bathroom or hidden behind large furniture in the room); we struggled to charge our phones, etc. The bathroom is very small with basically no counter space. It would be great if a shelf or two was added to the wall for a place to put our toiletries. The breakfast was a pretty simple continental breakfast (usually one hot dish and then some grab and go pastries, yogurt, cereal). They do tea and coffee time everyday from 4-5 with fresh baked cookies. My biggest complaint is that it was impossible to get ahold of them by phone. I tried calling a few days before our reservation to confirm some things and was on hold for almost 30 mins; eventually it took me to the voicemail which I left my number and never received a call back. I had to email them instead which is fine if the matter is not urgent, but if you need something immediately I have no idea how you would get in contact with them.

Our inn keeper Caroline was very friendly and accommodating with an early check in as our room was ready when we arrived on the island and were just looking for a place to store our backpacks so we could start exploring beautiful Mackinac Island. The bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast hit the spot

Be prepared for stairs and 100 year old plumbing! But if you find these things charming, as I do, this is a lovely respite. It is very quiet and easy access up the hill to above the fort for wonderful nature hiking. The service was exceptionally personal.

Caroline and family are attentive to every detail and anticipate your needs. The hotel, entirety is tidy, clean, and comfortable. They make extra efforts to make you feel at home. The breakfast was delicious as was the afternoon snack. The front porch and front room are so cozy. You can read a book or get to know other guests- they offer a perfect balance.

I truly enjoyed my stay at Pine Cottage. My room had an amazing view of the water and docks, and I just spent time sitting in my room and enjoying the view. The staff was really friendly and the food was excellent. I also loved the rocking chairs on the porch - I spent time reading there.

Perfect place to stay. Just far enough away from Main Street to be quiet and convenient. I had a room with a shared bathroom but I never had to wait for the bathroom. Again a great place.

This Bed and Breakfast is a lovely inn. However, be aware that the rooms require you to use a shared bathroom. We knew this ahead and time, and it was fine. If there was someone in our restroom (3rd floor), we just went down to the 2nd floor where there were 2 restrooms available. Our bed was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. The breakfast was also good, staff was friendly, and we enjoyed talking to other travelers. Be aware that it does take a bit of a hike uphill to get to this place, but we did it and we are 56 and 68. We would stay there again if we visited Macinac Island again in the future.

We were looking for a reasonable place to stay in Mackinac and found the Pine Cottage. It’s just off the Main Street, close to everything. The bed n breakfast was immaculate, and the owners are incredibly nice. We would definitely go back and stay.

Just far enough away from downtown to be quiet but close enough to be accessible! Comfortable bed with nice pillows! French toast casserole with blueberries for breakfast. Fresh water always available and the coffee was good! Had a nice sit on the porch in the evening. A great place to stay without all the fuss. Definitely recommend!

This is a great place to stay on the island if you are on a budget. Reasonably priced (for the island, where everything is terribly expensive), great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, comfortable beds, good wifi. Sharing the bathroom wasn't a problem, especially since my room had a sink. I had a double room - it was small but enough for one person. It had great air conditioning which was welcome given the unseasonable heat. I was able to take a look at a suite - it looked great with a two bedrooms, its own bathroom, a sitting room, kitchenette and good view on the water.

The property is just a short way up the street from the main thoroughfare, in a quiet spot. The B&B is beautiful and renovated authentically to its era. Attention to details, cleanliness, and a welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast is delicious, buffet style, and a nice touch is the afternoon tea time with a scrumptious mega-cookie and tea/coffee in the dining room. A lovely place I would return to.

This inn is quite nice and well kept. Clean and quiet. We only interacted with one staff member (at check in/out) and she was very pleasant. Room was tiny, but clean. Bed was decent. If I had any disappointment it would be with the breakfast (the other “B” in ”BnB”). Having stayed at many BnB’s, part of the fun is the HOST serving their delicious creations. At this inn, the host was absent and breakfast was a bunch of store bought fare, cereals, bagels, muffins, etc., tossed out on a “help yourself” table, similar to what one might expect at a Motel6. The hot offering was a simple quiche and sausage links, neither of which were very inspiring. In the end, for me it was a matter of value. For the price, (and I realize everything is expensive on the island) I guess I expected a little more than a bed in a closet and Jimmy Dean breakfast. But, overall a rather nice stay.

We loved this amazing Bed and Breakfast. Staff was fantastic the breakfast was amazingly delicious. An egg scramble with sausage, potatoes, gravy. Lots of other choices as well. The blueberry muffins tasted like it just came out of the oven!!! We were able to leave our overnight backpack so we could hike for the day. I highly recommend!!!!!! We are celebrating our 50th Ann!

The shared bathroom was a surprise and would have been a deal breaker .. while noted once and not in any reviews ?? Had to wait numerous times , sink was tiny, no where to put anything . Breakfast was ok but no vegetarian warm meal . Porch did not have a view . I would not go back to this B&b

Shared bathroom means you don’t have your own bathroom and have to exit your room and wait your turn. Twice I found that another guest hadn’t flushed the toilet behind themselves. The room itself was clean and well appointed. In the “about” section it states “More conveniences in all rooms include: Showers and free toiletries” which is not true… not all rooms have a shower because they don’t have a bathroom or even a wash basin. The breakfast was clearly Costco products reheated, down to they didn’t even take the quiche out of the disposable tin. The property was clean and maintained in the common areas.

When guest arrive, they should be made aware the ice machine is in the lobby and offered an ice bucket to bring up to the room so they do not have to turn around and go up/down E flights of stairs again. 2. A wall mirror in the room for ladies to use for make up. 3. Offer prepackaged pastries with coffee for guest who are catching the early ferry and can’t stay until 8 for breakfast. 4. Replace the metal soap hanger from the tub to one hanging from the shower curtain rack so yo don’t have to move the shower curtain to get the soap and avoid water spill on the floor. A few thoughts for you to consider.

Perfect fit for us! Our arrival was seamless- they picked up our luggage at the ferry for free, took it and stored it till check-in. They took it back to the ferry at checkout. At check-in they took it to our room. We were in the 3rd floor King corner room # 14 with private bath (claw foot tub/shower). The room was immaculate and the view spectacular! The bed and pillows very comfortable. Nice TV on wall and plenty of storage. There were quite a few stairs - but we are 70 and managed ok for the 3 days there. Pine Cottage is in the middle of everything and an easy walk to and from ferry and very easy to find. The dining room is very nice, and the breakfasts were to die for. I have dietary restrictions and they went out of their way to make sure I had toast and eggs since I can't have gluten or dairy! Porch rockers were nice, and we were able to get a taxi pickup right at our doorstep. The staff is amazing! The ladies who cared for our room went above and beyond, meeting our every need. In fact, they advised a better room choice for our return next year. The Cottage innkeepers were helpful with info and quick to help in any way! The 4PM cookies are a nice touch (says my husband) and there was always tea and coffee for me. There is a very quaint shady yard for guests use that comes complete with sweet Kitty. A lovely stay and cannot think of any way to improve! Came as a guest - left feeling like family.
Perfect fit for us! Our arrival was seamless- they picked up our luggage at the ferry for free, took it and stored it till check-in. They took it back to the ferry at checkout. At check-in they took it to our room. We were in the 3rd floor King corner room # 14 with private bath (claw foot tub/shower). The room was immaculate and the view spectacular! The bed and pillows very comfortable. Nice TV on wall and plenty of storage. There were quite a few stairs - but we are 70 and managed ok for the 3 days there. Pine Cottage is in the middle of everything and an easy walk to and from ferry and very easy to find. The dining room is very nice, and the breakfasts were to die for. I have dietary restrictions and they went out of their way to make sure I had toast and eggs since I can't have gluten or dairy! Porch rockers were nice, and we were able to get a taxi pickup right at our doorstep. The staff is amazing! The ladies who cared for our room went above and beyond, meeting our every need. In fact, they advised a better room choice for our return next year. The Cottage innkeepers were helpful with info and quick to help in any way! The 4PM cookies are a nice touch (says my husband) and there was always tea and coffee for me. There is a very quaint shady yard for guests use that comes complete with sweet Kitty. A lovely stay and cannot think of any way to improve! Came as a guest - left feeling like family.
