Stayed here for one night whilst on a two day road trip. I wanted somewhere with a traditional pub atmosphere and good accommodation. The Red Lion Inn was perfect for this. The rooms were clean and the food in the restaurant excellent. Staff were very friendly and engaging. It's also an ideal place to use as a base to explore the Northumberland area.

Dinner was delicious and high quality. Attentive and friendly staff. Quality real ale in the bar. Mix of locals and visitors. Spacious accommodations. Character and lovely atmosphere. Very dog friendly and interesting short walk nearby highlighting prehistoric and dark ages history.

A very enjoyable stay at the Red Lion, ground floor cabin was spotless very well presented with tea coffee and a treat, the bar had a good choice of beers and spirits with very friendly staff, the dinner menu had a good choice and was of excellent quality. All in all highly recommended.

I had the pleasure of staying at The Red Lion and right from the beginning, I was greeted with a genuinely warm and convivial welcome. Walking into the pub, I was instantly struck by its cozy and inviting atmosphere. The impressive selection of quality ales made it clear that this was a place with a serious commitment to offering a great drink selection. My room was spotlessly clean, and as soon as I settled in, I felt the comforting and homely atmosphere it exuded. It was clear that the staff took considerable care to ensure that everything was comfortable and inviting. Dining at the pub was a true delight. The menu offered an extensive range of options, and each dish was cooked and presented to an impressively high standard. The waitress who took care of my table was not only friendly, but also went above and beyond to make sure my experience was exceptional. I truly appreciated the level of attentiveness and warmth from the entire staff. Overall, my stay at The Red Lion was thoroughly enjoyable. The food and drink were exceptional, and the warmth of the staff made it an experience to remember. I'd like to extend my best wishes for success to the young couple running the establishment. We stayed in ‘Deluxe cabins’ which were spacious and clean, but are probably due a routine refit. The mattress on the beds were not very comfortable and the shower heads badly stained. The food was very good for both evening meal and breakfast. Perfectly adequate to rest your head for a night.

First, the really good bits - the staff were very welcoming & friendly. The room in the main building was fine, bed was comfortable & clean. Grouting mouldy in bathroom but decent size & good shower, Clearly a popular village pub. But - the carpet on the stairs and landing was disgusting. The whole place needs tlc; some things would take very little effort or cost, a pot of paint and weed removal outside.

We stayed in cabin as we required wheelchair access, cabin very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly especially Sophie, couldn't do enough to help. Food was good and locals friendly. Would return again

Loved this old establishment , the staff, the restaurant , so friendly and welcoming, the food was lovely and well presented. The room too and the bathroom so comfortable and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed staying here in such a beautiful part of the country and will recommend to anyone looking to visit this area. I will definately stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay and would return. The location is excellent - peaceful and scenic but well connected to the border towns. Breakfast and dinner were very good and helpful smiley staff made us feel welcome. A minor quibble was that our room was described as a 'superior cabin - accessible'. Sure, it was ground floor but if anyone with mobility issues was tempted to book it they would not have been able to have a bath or shower as there were no grab rails in the bathroom at all! And no wardrobe in the 'superior' cabin, just a couple of hangers on the wall. A bit limited if you were staying more than one night. But all in all a very pleasant stay and we will return if in the area.

We travelled to Northumberland from Hampshire for a wedding. On arrival at the Red Lion we were made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We had a room in the mainpart of the Inn which was vewry comfortable

Walking into the pub, I was instantly struck by its cozy and inviting atmosphere. The impressive selection of quality ales made it clear that this was a place with a serious commitment to offering a great drink selection. My room was spotlessly clean, and as soon as I settled in, I felt the comforting and homely atmosphere it exuded. It was clear that the staff took considerable care to ensure that everything was comfortable and inviting. Dining at the pub was a true delight. The menu offered an extensive range of options, and each dish was cooked and presented to an impressively high standard. The waitress who took care of my table was not only friendly, but also went above and beyond to make sure my experience was exceptional. I truly appreciated the level of attentiveness and warmth from the entire staff. Overall, my stay at The Red Lion was thoroughly enjoyable. Stayed here for one night whilst on a two day road trip. I wanted somewhere with a traditional pub atmosphere and good accommodation. The Red Lion Inn was perfect for this. The rooms were clean and the food in the restaurant excellent. Staff were very friendly and engaging. It's also an ideal place to use as a base to explore the Northumberland area.

We enjoyed our stay and would return. The location is excellent - peaceful and scenic but well connected to the border towns. Breakfast and dinner were very good and helpful smiley staff made us feel welcome. A minor quibble was that our room was described as a 'superior cabin - accessible'. Sure, it was ground floor but if anyone with mobility issues was tempted to book it they would not have been able to have a bath or shower as there were no grab rails in the bathroom at all! And no wardrobe in the 'superior' cabin, just a couple of hangers on the wall. A bit limited if you were staying more than one night. But all in all a very pleasant stay and we will return if in the area.

Loved this old establishment , the staff, the restaurant , so friendly and welcoming, the food was lovely and well presented. The room too and the bathroom so comfortable and clean. Thoroughly enjoyed staying here in such a beautiful part of the country and will recommend to anyone looking to visit this area. I will definately stay here again.

A very enjoyable stay at the Red Lion, ground floor cabin was spotless very well presented with tea coffee and a treat, the bar had a good choice of beers and spirits with very friendly staff, the dinner menu had a good choice and was of excellent quality. All in all highly recommended.

First, the really good bits - the staff were very welcoming & friendly. The room in the main building was fine, bed was comfortable & clean. Grouting mouldy in bathroom but decent size & good shower, Clearly a popular village pub. But - the carpet on the stairs and landing was disgusting. The whole place needs tlc; some things would take very little effort or cost, a pot of paint and weed removal outside.
