Lowell Inn

This was our second and probably last stay here. When there is a wedding with a loud Dj, loud music and loud guests, regular visitors that are not guests of the wedding, should not be roomed above the reception room. Not only did we have that noise until 11pm, we were the room right next to the door to the parking ramp. The constant coming and going through this door was excessive and excessively loud. If that wasn't enough, we had the noise of vehicles that sounded like they were hot rodding in the parking ramp. I did not sleep. I had just briefly fallen asleep when it sounded like a guest from either above us or right next to us had fallen, crashing hard and loud enough to startle me awake. This was supposed to be a relaxing, romantic, valentine weekend and it was a sleepless, anxiety filled night instead. I did kindly walk to the front desk, since there was no info in the room for guests to call. My question was about how long the reception would last. I was told the music end at 10:30 pm, but extended past 11:00pm. I was not at any point upset about a reception taking place, i was however, extremely disappointed in the lack of proper registration/room assignment for non party guests. We paid for an experience that we did not get.

Staff were very nice and helpful. Room was clean though we smelled smoke in it when we came one of the days.

Very comfortable and unique hotel. Elegant, but not snobby. Staff was very courteous and professional. It was a little confusing navigating the parking with a heavy traffic from the Snow Sculpture Festival, I was very glad I’d read the instructions closely enough to have a basic idea where I was going - it would be okay if it was explained in even a bit more detail. Very clean. My son and I are both very sensitive to smells and scented cleaning projects and this was one of few places I’ve stayed that it really had almost no scent. Very impressive for an historic hotel! A couple maintenance things that I’m not sure they knew about up in the family suite (soft spot on the bathroom floor was the most concerning), but they were appreciative when I mentioned it at checkout, so hopefully that is something that will be resolved. I’d highly recommend sitting in the lounge and spending a bit of time browsing the book with the hotel story!

No elevator with my bad knees was a downer. Otherwise friendly staff and clean room was good. Bed was super hard, which I like.
