Very disappointing experience. The issue began at the check-in. Instead of the room we had booked that was supposed to be part of the hotel, we were given a separate cottage/cabin, that was away from the the main hotel, and we did not know about it. No information was given when we booked. We were exhausted so we decided not to make a major issue out of it and accepted, but unfortunately, the restaurant experience was much harder to overlook. There were two of us dining at the restaurant. Many of the items on the menu were unavailable. We ordered Meskhetian khachapuri and barbecue/Georgian kebab. The barbecue was by far the worst part of the meal. I have eaten Georgian barbecue many times and know well what properly grilled meat should look and taste like. This was honestly one of the worst barbecue. It had horrible smell, almost as if the meat was old and rotten, and the appearance and texture were more like boiled meat than grilled meat. I could barely take a bite and ended up throwing it away. Khachapuri was also disappointing. It looked poorly prepared and tasted bad. There was noticeably more dough than cheese, which was especially frustrating considering the price 38GEL(Expensive!). Overall, the customer service and food was far below what we expected from a resort presenting itself as 4/5* +a place to experience local cuisine. The quality was simply not acceptable. I have no desire to visit Vardzia Resort again and would not recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Lovely small resort with helpful staff and really nice location overlooking the Vardzia cave complex. Helpful staff and plenty of parking. Has a modest swimming pool, but too cold for us to use that evening. Great restaurant. Only downside was the faulty toilet, where the flush tank just wouldn’t stop all night.

It’s the perfect base for visiting the Vardzia Cave Monastery which is a unique experience. The restaurant is not expensive with draft wine and wonderful food.
