Quaint and quiet for solo travelers. A pretty cozy stay but be very cautious of the refundable deposit. They’re not on it like your average hotel/airbnb so you will have to remind them via email. Their phone number isn’t the greatest, as it is hard to communicate to the staff, they don’t have a regular set of hours by the phone. Kitchen wasn’t used for my stay but it looked neat and clean, perfect for those who intend on staying longer.

This place made me and my girlfriend very uncomfortable there is a camera watching you as soon as you walk in upstairs and you are sharing a space that isn’t even cleaned properly daily not to mention you have to send a separate deposit via Zelle which they stated we would receive 3-5 days after checkout it has been 7 days still no refund I’ve been messaging them and calling them about the refund and a woman lied through her teeth saying it would be processed and switched up and said it was already processed then hung up in my face when I said which is it. Do not go here.

Stay was ok, I really had follow up and remembers and escalate to get my security deposit back. They say 5 to 7 Business days but it took persistent asking which I thought was a pain.

Villa Dubouis is a good guesthouse, however the security deposit complication and the area it lays in makes it difficult to call it great! Ah and yes the tv worked the first night but the sound did not work the second night! 😎

I booked a stay at Villa Dubouis Guest House in Chicago through Expedia for October 24–25 and October 26–27, 2025. When I arrived around 10:00 p.m., I discovered the property was located in a dark, unsafe, and desolate neighborhood — completely different from what was advertised online. There was no front desk, no lights, no visible staff or security, and the place looked abandoned. I tried calling and texting the phone number posted on the door multiple times, but no one ever answered. Even my Uber driver warned me that it was not a safe area and refused to leave me there alone. I was left stranded late at night in a neighborhood that clearly posed a safety risk. I had no choice but to leave immediately and find another hotel at my own expense. What’s even more disappointing is that after reporting everything to Expedia, they denied my refund request, claiming the property refused to honor it — despite the fact that I never even had access to my room and was never greeted or assisted by anyone.
