Pub and facilities were good, lovely place with lovely and tasty breakfast. Pity we were so close to the bar and above the pot wash/ kitchen, very noisy. Lovely stay, but pub noise too much for us as we are not drinkers. M

Rooms a little tired and location a bit noisy due to traffic noise and bar guest noise. Car parking limited. On a positive Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great food served here and breakfast was perfect.. Very clean with comfortable bed and a good selection of complementary teas and coffee.

Food was fantastic, service was wonderful and so friendly. Dont expect to get parked at busy times tho. I cannot fault this lovely old character hotel. I felt so welcome.

Stayed for one night in the large plush Nelson Suite. Room is enormous and would sleep more than just us two and the bed was really comfortable. The bar and dining area were great with a good selection of beer and other drinks. Large outside area for drinking and eating. Overall, loved our stay here.

Clean ,comfortable room. Great breakfast included in the price of stay. Enjoyed a lovely dinner in the restaurant. Parking is a bit of an issue as the car parking is very limited. Very welcoming friendly staff. Would definitely recommend.

Overnight stay on the way to visit friends. The hotel is a little tired in places, but the welcome was warm and friendly! I think we must have stayed there on the hottest night of the year, but luckily there was a fan in the bedroom which we put to good use! There is parking at the hotel, but there is also parking in the town square. Food in the restaurant was exceptional and the breakfast was outstanding! Would stay here again for the food alone!

The staff could not do enough for you. They were all so friendly & welcoming. They went out of their way to sort a parking space for me, enabling me to leave my car from the Saturday to the Monday whilst I didn’t need it. The food is superb. The price for bed & breakfast was great value. Breakfast choice & quality was again fantastic. Obviously a very popular place & understandably so.

The atmosphere of this place is great, we visited on Saturday night and the pub was very busy, i can see why! Excellent food, staff were rushed off their feet but were so attentive, really friendly place and an absolute gem. The staff really make this place what it is, we will definitely be returning.

This is definitely an old hotel, but a very interesting one when you read its history. The carpets were a little grubby, but it was kept clean. The beds were made daily and the towels replaced. The tea/coffee etc in the room replenished every day. If you are a big eater, then this is the place to go. The food was very good, but too much for me. Its a lovely little village and we went on a train ride to Wroxham. Well worth a stay and a visit.

Nice room. Chair had a large stain on which had not been cleaned. The stair carpet leading up to our room was dirty. The room itself was spotless clean and comfortable. We would happily stay there again.

Stayed overnight to attend a wedding reception nearby. Very friendly team, room clean and tidy, comfy bed, carpets going up to accommodation are a little tired but this definitely isn’t reflected in the accommodation. Food very well presented, super breakfast. Would definitely visit again

Pleasant, friendly hotel with excellent breakfast and dinner. We arrived on a very hot day but thoughtfully our bedroom window had been opened wide and a fan left running so it was well cooled. Room was clean, well-sized and adequately equipped. It overlooked the town square but wasn't particularily noisy.

The Inn, full of character, great breakfast, clean rooms with all ameneties you might expect or need. The Staff were brilluant and the pub customers in tge evening did not made stay unpleasant. Unfortunatelly the room we were given, wasn't in the best location. The windows were facing the court yard, where the first morning we were woken up by beer delivery being received to the celler which to our luck happened to be underneath our room (104) and the following morning by maintenance team powerwashing the pattio of the court yard. Both issues evidence of a good thriving pub. The second improvement could be done on quality of mattress and bedding. As the bed being standard double size and the floor of the room tilting (17th century building), it created perfect storm me and my other half rolling to each others side for most of the night. Also as we were not able to open the windows the room would get very warm. At the end of the stay we noticed a fan tucked in the coupboard, it would have been nice if someone would have shown it on the arrival. The brakfast choice was amazing and the portions very large. We stayed ghe to eat foe dinner. Again portion sizes ment that we both had dishes from from the starter menue. Everything was very delitious. Overall great stay. Would go back there in colder season to enjoy cossines of the place.

We had a lovely double room at the front of the hotel that was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a good size and had a very good shower. The bed was very comfortable and there were extra pillows provided if we needed them. Our evening meal was delicious and excellently cooked. Breakfast was also really good in fact one of the best breakfasts i have had in a hotel for a long time. I had the Greek yoghurt with granola and fruit and honey which had lots of lovely fresh fruit in and my partner had the cooked breakfast, both were generous portions. It is a very old building and could do with a bit of a makeover in places but it was a busy hotel and seemed popular with the locals and the staff were wonderful, very attentive, polite and happy to help.

We stayed one night room and breakfast and it was excellent value for money. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The breakfast menu had plenty of choice; the quality of the food and service was very good. We also ate dinner there and it was just as good. The bedroom was a little tired & very noisy from road traffic (it was a hot night and we needed the windows fully open!) but it didn’t stop us from sleeping. Overall a great stay.

Food was excellent, both breakfast and dinner - staff fabulous - a credit to the hotel. Our room bathroom needs updating with new toilet seat and just an upgrade in general. Bed was quite small - not sure it was a queen bed but comfortable enough. Just needs a few things upgraded to make it fabulous as both food and staff were lovely so felt the room let the overall score down.

Very friendly welcome in to a busy pub. Rooms were good but it is a very old building so beware of uneven floors etc. the shower was not very powerful but everything else was good and I had a decent nights sleep. The breakfast was amazing. One of the best I have ever had. Didn’t have an evening meal but based on breakfast it would probably also be great, if a little expensive. Would happily stay again.

The hotel is lovely and in a great location (note it is not in Norwich as suggested by Expedia but in Aylsham). Aylsham is a small but vibrant town with plenty of dining and drinking options. The food in the hotel itself is excellent, although the portions are very large. After one dinner and breakfast, we didn't need to eat again for 24 hours, as we were so full. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. However, our choice of room was less good. Room 104 is very noisy, with an air conditioning unit outside the window that ran all night. On the first morning, we were also disturbed early by someone rattling crockery, the window cleaner and a beer delivery. On the second morning, someone was vacuuming outside our room at 6am. The rooms on the next floor probably couldn't hear any of this, so if you ensure you don't get room 104, I would highly recommend The Black Boys.

Food was magnificent - never had such excellant food ever - however room 102 was like a shoe box it was a single room into which a double bed was shoehorned - there was a very small wardrobe with no clothes hangers, which was inaccessible due to bedside table - bedside light was a low energy bulb - which was so old it took at least 15mins to get to any sort of of light output.

We stayed one night room and breakfast and it was excellent value for money. The staff were friendly, welcoming and attentive. The breakfast menu had plenty of choice; the quality of the food and service was very good. We also ate dinner there and it was just as good. The bedroom was a little tired & very noisy from road traffic (it was a hot night and we needed the windows fully open!) but it didn’t stop us from sleeping. Overall a great stay.

Was ok ,but the noisy floor was disappointing!a few spider webs but went well with the vintage style! Big minus -NO AC was verry hot! The Big Plus -super food,verry good breakfast included with the room,coffe and orange juice!delicious food,staff very nice!

Food was fantastic, service was wonderful and so friendly. Dont expect to get parked at busy times tho. I cannot fault this lovely old character hotel. I felt so welcome.

The Black Boys Hotel is a good place to stay right in the Market Square with many shops,’church at very close distance If you struggle with mobility. They have an extensive menu with very generous portions. It is also a stone throw from Blicklimg Hall, Wroxham. Holt and other places to visit near by.

We came from the Midlands to attend the funeral of an old friend and colleague. The hotel was really convenient for the Church service and we found out that the family had in fact chosen it for the after funeral venue. Our stay was very comfortable. The staff were very attentive and helpful and the food was superb. Choices were very difficult to make for dinner because they were so varied and when served they certainly did not disappoint. The breakfast next morning was equally superb. What a pity we live so far away.!!!

The staff could not do enough for you. They were all so friendly & welcoming. They went out of their way to sort a parking space for me, enabling me to leave my car from the Saturday to the Monday whilst I didn’t need it. The food is superb. The price for bed & breakfast was great value. Breakfast choice & quality was again fantastic. Obviously a very popular place & understandably so.

Very poor start check inn very slow, no details given about the hotel. Not able to get any evening food in the hotel as there is a sign in reception saying full. Many people checking in after me so a very poor show from a big hotel. Nearest food available a 10 minute drive away

Rooms a little tired and location a bit noisy due to traffic noise and bar guest noise. Car parking limited. On a positive Staff are very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great food served here and breakfast was perfect.. Very clean with comfortable bed and a good selection of complementary teas and coffee.

Pleasant, friendly hotel with excellent breakfast and dinner. We arrived on a very hot day but thoughtfully our bedroom window had been opened wide and a fan left running so it was well cooled. Room was clean, well-sized and adequately equipped. It overlooked the town square but wasn't particularily noisy.

The hotel is lovely and in a great location (note it is not in Norwich as suggested by Expedia but in Aylsham). Aylsham is a small but vibrant town with plenty of dining and drinking options. The food in the hotel itself is excellent, although the portions are very large. After one dinner and breakfast, we didn't need to eat again for 24 hours, as we were so full. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. However, our choice of room was less good. Room 104 is very noisy, with an air conditioning unit outside the window that ran all night. On the first morning, we were also disturbed early by someone rattling crockery, the window cleaner and a beer delivery. On the second morning, someone was vacuuming outside our room at 6am. The rooms on the next floor probably couldn't hear any of this, so if you ensure you don't get room 104, I would highly recommend The Black Boys.

An old but well kept hotel, very unique and lovely! The room was tiny, but it had everything we needed. The location is nice right in center of an very old town. The breakfast was included in the price and it was absolutely amazing! The proportions were huge and so good, we could come back to this hotel only for the breakfast!

We have been coming here off and on for several times per year and for more years than can remember. It serves our purposes well for both visiting family and also for yearly RunNorwich event in September. Always lovely staff who are very helpful. Matt the manager is a lovely guy too and runs the place very well. Great food and a fabulous breakfast is in with the stay. I find I eat far too much at breakfast as it is so scrummy. Still this week that’s offset as it’s part of London marathon preparation and I need to “fuel up”, that’s my excuse anyway.

Very friendly welcome in to a busy pub. Rooms were good but it is a very old building so beware of uneven floors etc. the shower was not very powerful but everything else was good and I had a decent nights sleep. The breakfast was amazing. One of the best I have ever had. Didn’t have an evening meal but based on breakfast it would probably also be great, if a little expensive. Would happily stay again.

Lovely room. Delicious food and very professional staff. Despite being very busy, we did not wait for food, which was so good. We certainly did not leave the restaurant hungry as the portion sizes were very big. We would hope to return again hopefully sometime soon.

Radiator loose, we found a baby bib and a sock in the bedside table, the lamp didn’t work, the WiFi and Netflix in the room didn’t work, a filthy ironing board and a shower that was impossible to enjoy as it kept switching from ice cold to scalding hot. The saving grace was the breakfast.

Very very good value stay after cycling the Marriotts Way from Norwich.Exceptional (large) portions of food and an outstanding Black Boys' 'full English" breakfast lasted us all day.Very comfortable rooms,good real ale bar and restaurant,all very efficiently run.Highly recommended for value,location and service.

A delightful very old hotel with much history...old features,jacobean staircase Exposed beams. On edge of market square with small car park. Rooms good size, walk in shower modern, beds comfortable. What made hotel superb was excellent food and menu....portion sizes enormous Staff without exception relaxed/ very helpful and wanting to ensure guests stay goes well.
