The staff was amazing and the resort is beautiful and spotless! Great breakfast… would love to see more muffins and croissants offered. Dinner options are very European, and elegantly presented. Would recommend going into Tamarindo for dinner/lunch options as well! LaGosta Beach Club is a must for a beach day!

From Liberia Airport via a transfer arranged by the resort, I arrived at Pacific Kalokairi in dire need of relaxation. I was greeted warmly and shown to my gorgeous suite where I watched an incredible sunset over the ocean…the first of many. Thanks to my gracious hosts I was able to book a 2 hour massage and then spent many peaceful hours at the pool. I enjoyed delicious meals dining by the pool and/or having them delivered to my room. When I was rested and ready to go town a short drive away, they offered a shuttle service at specific times or arranged a taxi if I wanted to go or return at another time. As a family run establishment, they make you feel incredibly welcome like family, including their black lab Charlie! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone!

The owners and staff made our stay extremely welcoming, and they constantly went above and beyond. The rooms are designed very well and we will be visiting again. We already miss Charly the dog host. Amazing food and beautiful salt water pool… highly recommend! ~Brian and Margaret

The drive in does this place no justice. Once reaching the hotel it is absolutely beautiful, overlooking Tamarindo and the ocean. The infinity views are unbelievable as are the suites. There is an airbnb feel to it because of how private the suites are, feels like a retreat or a private getaway, and the staff is ready to serve at every opportunity. Carlos was awesome, he gave us a seamless check in experience and the dinner was delicious! Hard to say what the best part of this stay was but Virginia was amazing as well. Excellent with our breakfast orders - fresh fruit and juice daily with the best jam ever, excellent pool service, and Marta and Helen gave the best massages and facials of our lives. 100% recommend every part of this stay - suite, breakfast, dinner, massages, pool - and would stay again.

Lovely small, privat and quiet hotel. This hotel is for you if you prefer a bit more remote retreat with the chance to go into Tamarindo and on the beach for bits of your stay and otherwise prefer secluded and quiet with a fabulous view. That’s what we were looking for and we definitely found it here. Super relaxing! Delicious food and lovely owners and staff including resort dog Charlie ❤️

We had a wonderful stay. Easy drive into town, beautiful room and pool. The highlight was the incredible food. The chef was excellent and we were able to take a cooking class from him!

What an amazing hotel! We felt like we were staying in a fancy bungalow on our family’s property. The family who own and run this business truly put their hearts and souls into making the space beautiful, clean and peaceful. The salt water infinity pool is perfect. There were days where we were the only guests who weren’t off on an adventure, so we had the pool (and bar) to ourselves. The food and drinks were excellent. Quality that you would get at a 5 star resort or restaurant. The (free/included) shuttle goes down to Tamarindo 4 times a day- 10AM, 3PM, 6PM and 9PM. If you want to go to town at different times , the hotel calls a taxi for you. The taxi is a short 5-10 min drive, and costs ~$12USD. Highlights: - service/staff; kind humans making sure you have everything you need - Charlie/Charley (sp?) , the family/ resort dog , who is such a good boy - Location- close to town (2kms), but in the jungle. Ocean view from the pool and balcony

Our 4 night stay at Pacific Kalokairi was nothing short of exceptional! For the final leg of our Costa Rica trip we stayed at Pacific Kalokairi just outside of Tamarindo. The access road was pretty straightforward compared to other such roads in Costa Rica. The last 100m or so is a steep climb, but totally paved.. no big deal. The property is fully gated so when you arive, hit the buzzer and one of the staff will open the main gate. Parking is a breeze. The grounds here are immaculate. The pool area where breakfast is served is gorgeous. The Infinity pool over looks the town of Tamarindo and the ocean in the distance. The rooms .. wow ! Perfect size for a king suite. Each is its own villa with all of the luxury touches your expect from a high end spot. We booked an ocean view room so the balcony overlooks the pool and had amazing sunsets every night. The staff are really what makes Pacific Kalokairi special. Everyone really cares about the guest experience and treats you like a member of the family. Charlie the resident black lab is such a good boy too! We booked an excursion and a coue of massages through the property .. all seemless I've stayed at hundreds of differt hotels and propertys over the years and Pacific Kalokairi ranks up there will the best of the best. After 4 days we didn't want to leave! When we checked out we took a few extra minutes to say goodbye to everyone .. it just felt so much like home Thank you for an outstanding experiance! To summarize - we left within 3hrs due to bugs + hair in the bed and on other surfaces. We kindly asked for a new room, then a refund- we were denied. Do not be fooled by the good reviews - if your experience is anything like ours, you will regret booking this place. I explained the whole situation on other sites, so i'll keep it short here. We complained about the bugs and were called liars by the manager, Virginia. We were more than amendable, but were treated SO horribly I am still in shock. I am looking forward to Virginia's response to this review, as she tends to gaslight her customers who write less than favorable things. In addition to bugs, an obvious deal breaker - theres some things about this hotel you should know that also add up to a less than "exceptional" experience. 1) The "jungle view" room is of a dumpster. 2) There was hair on multiple pillows 3) The AC did not work after 3 hours, it was still 80+ degrees in the room. Another review mentions they turn it off after cleaning. It's not powerful enough to cool down after a full day not on. 4) The road to the hotel does not have directional signage and is difficult, even for the experienced Costa Rican driver. 5) The "free shuttle" is for 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm. Any other time is a twelve dollar one way trip. 6) The restaurant closes at 9 PM. Essentially, lights out, if you choose to take the 9 PM shuttle back

I cant say enough about this place, we only stayed for one night at the end of a week long trip all over Costa Rica, this place is a paradise. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The property is in immaculate shape inside and out, the yard and pool are kept clean, the room was spotless. You get what you pay for is very true, its a little more expensive than others in the area, but the privacy, the beauty, the comfort, and the service are well worth the price.
I cant say enough about this place, we only stayed for one night at the end of a week long trip all over Costa Rica, this place is a paradise. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive. The property is in immaculate shape inside and out, the yard and pool are kept clean, the room was spotless. You get what you pay for is very true, its a little more expensive than others in the area, but the privacy, the beauty, the comfort, and the service are well worth the price.

We have done trips to Hawaii, Belize, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and other beach locations, and Pacific Kalokairi is bar none, head and shoulders above them all. The accommodations are meticulously cared for, thoughtfully and beautifully designed, and kept to a pristine cleanliness. We were also pleasantly surprised to find a mini fridge in the room which wasn’t mentioned in the listing. The location is perfect offering the most stunning view of the Costa Rican countryside and beach, located close to town but in a tranquil setting outside the hustle and bustle of town. The service is exemplary by the family, characteristic of only the most expensive 5-star resorts. They are there to attend to your every need, going above and beyond at every opportunity. Based on others’ reviews, we rented a large SUV to handle the Costa Rican roads, and did just fine. Definitely recommend an SUV with 4-wheel drive. We already miss the sounds of the monkeys and birds. What are you waiting for, book it! You’re in for a real treat!

Local reservado, longe do barulho da orla, exatamente o que procuravamos. Cafe da manha simples e com um cachorro pedindo comida ao redor das mesas. Formigas no quarto, cofre nao funcionou e precisou ser aberto com a chave mestras (passaportes estavam dentro do mesmo), porta do quarto nao trancava por dentro, roupas de cama de baixa qualidade e MUITA luz entrando no quarto ao amanhecer o dia. Falta muito para ser luxury. Nao volto e nao recomendo.

Wonderful experience! My husband and I have been to Tamarindo many times, but this was our first time staying at Pacific Kalokairi. The personal attention we received and overall attentiveness of the staff was truly exceptional. To summarize - we left within 3hrs due to bugs + hair in the bed and on other surfaces. We kindly asked for a new room, then a refund- we were denied. Do not be fooled by the good reviews - if your experience is anything like ours, you will regret booking this place. I explained the whole situation on other sites, so i'll keep it short here. We complained about the bugs and were called liars by the manager, Virginia. We were more than amendable, but were treated SO horribly I am still in shock. I am looking forward to Virginia's response to this review, as she tends to gaslight her customers who write less than favorable things. In addition to bugs, an obvious deal breaker - theres some things about this hotel you should know that also add up to a less than "exceptional" experience. 1) The "jungle view" room is of a dumpster. 2) There was hair on multiple pillows 3) The AC did not work after 3 hours, it was still 80+ degrees in the room. Another review mentions they turn it off after cleaning. It's not powerful enough to cool down after a full day not on. 4) The road to the hotel does not have directional signage and is difficult, even for the experienced Costa Rican driver. 5) The "free shuttle" is for 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm. Any other time is a twelve dollar one way trip. 6) The restaurant closes at 9 PM. Essentially, lights out, if you choose to take the 9 PM shuttle back

This beautiful property is located in the hills above Tamarindo with an amazing view of the ocean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The guest accommodations are modern, spacious and private. We loved listening to the birds and the Howler monkeys and just enjoying the awesome view from our room. Relaxing poolside and cooling off in the infinity pool was a treat. Peaceful, quiet, elegant...Pacific Kalokairi is a sanctuary in this area. Highly recommended!

My husband and I were excited to escape for the holidays, and Pacific Kalokairi exceeded our expectations. This isn't your typical hotel; the rooms are spread out across the stunning property, ensuring privacy with no shared walls. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable, and full of natural light. Each morning, we had coffee on our patio, listening to the birds and howler monkeys. The on-site restaurant, managed by a 5-star chef, was a major highlight of our stay. We dined there for nearly every meal during our 7-day visit, and each dish was thoughtfully crafted and exquisite. The hotel staff—Virginia, Carlos, Hernán, Maria, and Charly (the sweetest hotel "guard" dog)—welcomed us like old friends, making our departure even more difficult. Just a 6-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo, it's easy to explore the area at your leisure. We highly recommend renting a 4wd to discover the beautiful beaches beyond Tamarindo. We can't wait to go back!

The drive in does this place no justice. Once reaching the hotel it is absolutely beautiful, overlooking Tamarindo and the ocean. The infinity views are unbelievable as are the suites. There is an airbnb feel to it because of how private the suites are, feels like a retreat or a private getaway, and the staff is ready to serve at every opportunity. Carlos was awesome, he gave us a seamless check in experience and the dinner was delicious! Hard to say what the best part of this stay was but Virginia was amazing as well. Excellent with our breakfast orders - fresh fruit and juice daily with the best jam ever, excellent pool service, and Marta and Helen gave the best massages and facials of our lives. 100% recommend every part of this stay - suite, breakfast, dinner, massages, pool - and would stay again.

This was a perfect find. If you’re looking for peace & quiet this is the place. There are 8 treehouse like huts that offer privacy & are spaced out. If you love nature and seek privacy & to be away from the crowds then look no further! It’s close enough to town, so when you do venture out, you wont need to drive far. I recommend exploring the area & beyond. To do so without a worry you will need a 4x4. The owners are very nice & are happy to accommodate in any way. We will definitely be returning when we come back to the

Booked this place without knowing the geography of Tamarindo too well. Tamarindo in a busy little town, and I really enjoyed being a short distance from it at Kalokairi. It’s a short walk from town in the hills. The view of the coast is stunning. The rooms are beautiful, and the staff is extremely kind. Only good things to say for this experience.

Our 4 night stay at Pacific Kalokairi was nothing short of exceptional! For the final leg of our Costa Rica trip we stayed at Pacific Kalokairi just outside of Tamarindo. The access road was pretty straightforward compared to other such roads in Costa Rica. The last 100m or so is a steep climb, but totally paved.. no big deal. The property is fully gated so when you arive, hit the buzzer and one of the staff will open the main gate. Parking is a breeze. The grounds here are immaculate. The pool area where breakfast is served is gorgeous. The Infinity pool over looks the town of Tamarindo and the ocean in the distance. The rooms .. wow ! Perfect size for a king suite. Each is its own villa with all of the luxury touches your expect from a high end spot. We booked an ocean view room so the balcony overlooks the pool and had amazing sunsets every night. The staff are really what makes Pacific Kalokairi special. Everyone really cares about the guest experience and treats you like a member of the family. Charlie the resident black lab is such a good boy too! We booked an excursion and a coue of massages through the property .. all seemless I've stayed at hundreds of differt hotels and propertys over the years and Pacific Kalokairi ranks up there will the best of the best. After 4 days we didn't want to leave! When we checked out we took a few extra minutes to say goodbye to everyone .. it just felt so much like home Thank you for an outstanding experiance! The staff was amazing and the resort is beautiful and spotless! Great breakfast… would love to see more muffins and croissants offered. Dinner options are very European, and elegantly presented. Would recommend going into Tamarindo for dinner/lunch options as well! LaGosta Beach Club is a must for a beach day!

From Liberia Airport via a transfer arranged by the resort, I arrived at Pacific Kalokairi in dire need of relaxation. I was greeted warmly and shown to my gorgeous suite where I watched an incredible sunset over the ocean…the first of many. Thanks to my gracious hosts I was able to book a 2 hour massage and then spent many peaceful hours at the pool. I enjoyed delicious meals dining by the pool and/or having them delivered to my room. When I was rested and ready to go town a short drive away, they offered a shuttle service at specific times or arranged a taxi if I wanted to go or return at another time. As a family run establishment, they make you feel incredibly welcome like family, including their black lab Charlie! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would highly recommend it to anyone!

The first word that comes to mind is exemplary. Virginia, and her family along with Marco provided the most excellent first experience in Costa Rica. From the moment I touched down till sendoff nine days later, I felt as if I was a guest in their home. The rooms and the views provided the much needed relaxation along with the amenities on the property(ie: cold plunge/ hot tub) I will always recommend to any friends and family the Pacific Kalokairi when they visit Tamarindo Costa Rica. Thank you Virginia, Marco, and the entire staff for showing me what the Pura Vida life meant. God bless you all and praying for many blessings to you and your families!

Staff was phenomenal! After some travel difficulties they waited for me and my wife to arrive the night we flew in. Their recommendations for places to see were always spot on. Charlie was the number one staff member!! Carlos and Virginia were always happy to answer questions and let us know about different areas to visit. Will definitely be going back when we travel to Costa Rica again.

We were so lucky to land at Pacific! We were desperate to find a new place to stay at the tail end of our stay in CR. We found Pacific Kalokairi and Virginia immediately treated us as family. The units are breathtaking and you feel as if you are on an island all by yourself. This is a hidden gem we were fortunate to find!

I’ll first start by saying this hotel is beautiful! The rooms, the view, the staff were all very delightful. Virginia was THE best from booking, arranging airport transfer, assisted with booking excursions as well as helped with locating an officiant. My only negative is the location. Kalokiari is situated in a very under developed area, about 10 mins from Tamarindo. Most of the drivers complained/were not enthused to service the location due to the road conditions where it’s located. I’ll say this, don’t stay here during the rainy season as I’m sure the roads are much worse than when dry. Most of the drivers complained/were not enthused to service the location due to the road conditions where it’s located. I’ll say this, don’t stay here during the rainy season as I’m sure the roads are much worse than when dry. To summarize - we left within 3hrs due to bugs + hair in the bed and on other surfaces. We kindly asked for a new room, then a refund- we were denied. Do not be fooled by the good reviews - if your experience is anything like ours, you will regret booking this place. I explained the whole situation on other sites, so i'll keep it short here. We complained about the bugs and were called liars by the manager, Virginia. We were more than amendable, but were treated SO horribly I am still in shock. I am looking forward to Virginia's response to this review, as she tends to gaslight her customers who write less than favorable things. In addition to bugs, an obvious deal breaker - theres some things about this hotel you should know that also add up to a less than "exceptional" experience. 1) The "jungle view" room is of a dumpster. 2) There was hair on multiple pillows 3) The AC did not work after 3 hours, it was still 80+ degrees in the room. Another review mentions they turn it off after cleaning. It's not powerful enough to cool down after a full day not on. 4) The road to the hotel does not have directional signage and is difficult, even for the experienced Costa Rican driver. 5) The "free shuttle" is for 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm. Any other time is a twelve dollar one way trip. 6) The restaurant closes at 9 PM. Essentially, lights out, if you choose to take the 9 PM shuttle back

Very nice place. Just in the middle of nowhere. Cabs to and from town have to deal with a steep, dirt, bumpy, rock-filled road (one night we almost couldn't find it). And because of its isolation, not even able to walk around outside the 10-room facility. But the room, pool, staff, and included breakfasts were exceptional.

This beautiful property is located in the hills above Tamarindo with an amazing view of the ocean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The guest accommodations are modern, spacious and private. We loved listening to the birds and the Howler monkeys and just enjoying the awesome view from our room. Relaxing poolside and cooling off in the infinity pool was a treat. Peaceful, quiet, elegant...Pacific Kalokairi is a sanctuary in this area. Highly recommended!

Location is nice and secluded from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo but still only a few minutes away. Ideal for both my wife and myself as resort was extremely peaceful and set back in the forest/jungle. Howler monkeys make a great alarm clock!!

This was a perfect find. If you’re looking for peace & quiet this is the place. There are 8 treehouse like huts that offer privacy & are spaced out. If you love nature and seek privacy & to be away from the crowds then look no further! It’s close enough to town, so when you do venture out, you wont need to drive far. I recommend exploring the area & beyond. To do so without a worry you will need a 4x4. The owners are very nice & are happy to accommodate in any way. We will definitely be returning when we come back to the

What an amazing hotel! We felt like we were staying in a fancy bungalow on our family’s property. The family who own and run this business truly put their hearts and souls into making the space beautiful, clean and peaceful. The salt water infinity pool is perfect. There were days where we were the only guests who weren’t off on an adventure, so we had the pool (and bar) to ourselves. The food and drinks were excellent. Quality that you would get at a 5 star resort or restaurant. The (free/included) shuttle goes down to Tamarindo 4 times a day- 10AM, 3PM, 6PM and 9PM. If you want to go to town at different times , the hotel calls a taxi for you. The taxi is a short 5-10 min drive, and costs ~$12USD. Highlights: - service/staff; kind humans making sure you have everything you need - Charlie/Charley (sp?) , the family/ resort dog , who is such a good boy - Location- close to town (2kms), but in the jungle. The staff was amazing and the resort is beautiful and spotless! Great breakfast… would love to see more muffins and croissants offered. Dinner options are very European, and elegantly presented. Would recommend going into Tamarindo for dinner/lunch options as well! LaGosta Beach Club is a must for a beach day!

The views were amazing! We woke up two mornings to 15 monkeys. They were so cute. The food was 5 stars. They have an amazing chef! The staff is so helpful and really get to know you. You feel right at home. The only thing we did not like about the area was the roads. Even with the roads being bad we would defiantly stay in this resort the next time we are in the area.

I want to keep this place a secret to myself. I don’t normally write reviews. But this place is so magical that I have to. I was immediately messaged after I booked the hotel. They arranged transportation for me from the airport. It is my first time to Costa Rica. And I travelled solo. I have never felt so safe. The minute you walk into the property, you are well taken care of. I could literally turn off my mind, and let them take care of things for me. They helped me books a surf lesson. The instructor was excellent ! I stood up on the board ! The food is out of this world. I tried the tapas tasting menu. I loved it so much that it’s like I am in Spain. (The chef is from Spain!). They helped me booked yoga classes. The studio is 2 min walk from the hotel. They arranged their own shuttle services for their guests to town. So I did not have to worry about transportation when I was there. The staff are extremely attentive and helpful. They can predict what you need and take care of it for you before you even ask. This is a paradise. Don’t even have to think and just book it. I will surely come back !

The drive in does this place no justice. Once reaching the hotel it is absolutely beautiful, overlooking Tamarindo and the ocean. The infinity views are unbelievable as are the suites. There is an airbnb feel to it because of how private the suites are, feels like a retreat or a private getaway, and the staff is ready to serve at every opportunity. Carlos was awesome, he gave us a seamless check in experience and the dinner was delicious! Hard to say what the best part of this stay was but Virginia was amazing as well. Excellent with our breakfast orders - fresh fruit and juice daily with the best jam ever, excellent pool service, and Marta and Helen gave the best massages and facials of our lives. 100% recommend every part of this stay - suite, breakfast, dinner, massages, pool - and would stay again.

Oh, where to start??! Pacific Kalokairi provides hospitality at the very highest level. We had such a fabulous experience. The staff is wonderfully friendly. It was like having a private concierge and private chef. They took care of everything we needed, from excursions to taxis to towels and shuttles, immediately and without hesitation. The rooms are gorgeous. The breakfasts and dinners were beyond delicious. The entire experience was warm, welcoming and friendly. Not at all pretentious or precious. We felt so comfortable with everyone there. It was unlike any vacation we’d ever taken before. On our last morning we had about 7-8 howler monkeys in the trees outside our room - what a treat to see them up close, like being in a game preserve. Also, we must mention we adored being greeted by Charley, the gentle giant black lab. There’s so much love at Pacific Kalokairi- we highly recommend vacationing in Costa Rica and staying there.
Oh, where to start??! Pacific Kalokairi provides hospitality at the very highest level. We had such a fabulous experience. The staff is wonderfully friendly. It was like having a private concierge and private chef. They took care of everything we needed, from excursions to taxis to towels and shuttles, immediately and without hesitation. The rooms are gorgeous. The breakfasts and dinners were beyond delicious. The entire experience was warm, welcoming and friendly. Not at all pretentious or precious. We felt so comfortable with everyone there. It was unlike any vacation we’d ever taken before. On our last morning we had about 7-8 howler monkeys in the trees outside our room - what a treat to see them up close, like being in a game preserve. Also, we must mention we adored being greeted by Charley, the gentle giant black lab. There’s so much love at Pacific Kalokairi- we highly recommend vacationing in Costa Rica and staying there.

This was one of the most unique places we have ever stayed. The staff was excellent. The rooms were great. The breakfast was light and gets you going. The spa was great and the pool was perhaps the best we have ever been in. The staff is accommodating and made our honeymoon truly special. One thing, do not leave any food items open in your room, the insects will find a way. That was completely our fault. :-)

We had our own private oasis. It was nice after a red eye flight to have a quiet calm intimate place to relax. Virginia and her dog made our entire time so special. The minor note was the rooms were hot. The AC had a hard time keeping up with the hot heat. Drinks were good! Food was good. Views were amazing.

Staff was extremely and extraordinarily helpful. A/C was not effective specifically when it’s hot. Also in the common dinning area. Had to sit under it. Lounging Chairs should be in the balcony and chairs in the room should be upright to drink coffee, Water bottles should be 2 at least for 2 people. Bathroom drain was clogging in our room. Hooks to hang clothes or towels.
