This was a great place to stay. We booked it because it is close to Jackson Triggs Winery. I wanted to be able to walk to the concert we were attending. Parking was good, our room was small but everything was clean. The bed was good, but the pillows should be replaced. The TV was small and you could not watch it unless you sat on one of the two straight back chairs. There is not breakfast onsite. You have to go to one of two places and send the bill to the owner. He refunds you the cost. I would definitely stay again .

The room was great except the shower is extremely small, so be aware if you are a bigger person. Otherwise, the property was nice with a lot of space to share. Garden was beautiful and the common space very nice. This is a little less than a mile from restaurants and town, but we like to walk. Also, breakfast is not on site, but you have two restaurant choices and host reimburses you. Please note that there is no one there all the time and you may need to wait for someone to let you in upon arrival and to give receipts to upon departure. They use a keypad system, so not the traditional B&B. Still very nice and good price.

Terrific quiet location minutes from downtown Niagara on Lake. Host is very hospitable and gave us gracious personal orientation. The breakfast arrangement at nearby restaurant is terrific! Beautiful common spaces and backyard. Would definitely return.

We stayed for 2 nights and would stay again. Pros: spotless, bright airy room, we liked the breakfast arrangement and submitted our receipts to the host who was very responsive and helpful. Lovely garden which was open to us. Bar/ restaurant just next door was good. I didn’t see the washing machine or dryer but I guess it was there. We had a nice few days and would have stayed longer. Cons: the rooms are small and if other people are staying in the other two rooms, you feel a bit conscious of not wanting to make a noise. There is no running water in the kitchen but they make water available to make drinks.

Really clean, nice room, in an ideal location. John was super kind. One of the intriguing things for me at a B&B is eating breakfast the following morning with the other guests. This was not an option at Matisse, but we did have an option to eat breakfast at a local eatery and the breakfast was fully refunded. There was little to no sound proofing as we could easily hear the guests in the next room.

We really enjoyed our stay in this cute home. Very clean, great location and John the property manager was very friendly. There was a shared coffee and tea station which was a nice touch. The breakfast was offered at a couple close locations, we went to Butler’s restaurant which was a couple minutes walk and it was good too. We just had to send a picture of the receipt ($35 max allowed per couple) and it was deducted from our bill.

Nice and clean property. We had forget me not room. The bed was firm and comfy blankets. The ceiling fan kept the air conditioning moving. Our washroom was around a corner, and as a warning, the bathtub walls are VERY deep. With arthritic knees showers weren't an option. We didn't use the breakfast option but were refunded the $70. For a one or two night stay, I would recommend.

The rooms at the Matisse are very small. On the other hand they are immaculate, as if new (maybe they are new). Instead of breakfast we were given credit at restaurants. We missed breakfast-table conversations.

The property is very clean and organized and the manager is very helpful and professional. Only the room set up is a bit strange as the TV screen is put in a corner making it impossible to watch while being in bed. Apart from that everything else is very good

BED BUT NO BREAKFAST ON SITE. Pros: located near central Niagara-on-the-Lake. Comfortable bed with ample closet space. Clean. Front door required a code to enter. The owner/manager John was friendly and informative when he met us to allow us in. Cons: No breakfast is offerred on site which is weird for a B&B. You have to go to one of 2 nearby restaurants and John will deduct the cost from your final bill. Not convenient if you are expecting to eat on site. John does not stay in the house while guests are there overnight which we thought was uncomfortable. Room 1 has no ensuite bathroom. You have to go across the hallway to access your own private bathroom. I had asked prior to arriving whether each room had its own bathroom which we were told "yes". it never occurred to us that it would be located outside the room!

No AC in the room, just on the main floor, so rooms get warm on hot summer days. Bed was ok. Had plenty of towels and just what we needed in the room. Ideal for a few nights.

John is friendly and informative. Room was very clean but small/cramped. The TV is located in the corner near the head of the bed and very inconvenient for watching. We were able to walk to the main business district, restaurant and theater. We were surprised to find out that breakfast was NOT ON SITE and we needed to go to one of two restaurants for our breakfast. The restaurants were good especially the one at the golf club, however, we were a disappointed that breakfast was not on site. That\'s part of being at a B&B. I see that other people have commented on this. Maybe the price should be reduced and advertised as "accommodations only".

We loved our 5 night stay at Matisse. Janet is super knowledgeable about the area attractions and has a wealth of tips on wineries to visit & how to get to them . Both E bikes & pedal bikes right nearby. There is a convenience store across the street with a huge variety of groceries & sundries. It is just over a km to walk to Queen St where the quaint shops & restaurants are. The breakfasts are large, tasty & innovative! You won’t need to have lunch till mid afternoon!

We had a very enjoyable weekend stay at Matisse B & B while visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake. There were 3 rooms available and the one we were in was very clean and comfortable, with an ensuite bathroom. The B & B had most items a regular hotel would offer and at an affordable price. Our host John was very easy to get in touch with by text/phone call. Matisse was about 3/4 of a mile walk to the main attractions on Queen Street. As my spouse and I are both in our 60's, we opted to drive instead. There were 2 very close restaurants within walking distance, where we chose to have daily breakfast and dinner. We will definitely consider staying at Matisse B & B, should we be visiting the area again!

The host (John) was very kind and helpful. He gave us many good recommendations for things to do in NOTL. The accommodation was cute, clean and comfortable. There is a beautiful, shady yard to enjoy and we were glad we could walk to everything. Rather than having breakfast at the house, John said we should just send him a pic of our breakfast receipt and he reimbursed us for it! We think that’s a great option.

The room was great except the shower is extremely small, so be aware if you are a bigger person. Otherwise, the property was nice with a lot of space to share. Garden was beautiful and the common space very nice. This is a little less than a mile from restaurants and town, but we like to walk. Also, breakfast is not on site, but you have two restaurant choices and host reimburses you. Please note that there is no one there all the time and you may need to wait for someone to let you in upon arrival and to give receipts to upon departure. They use a keypad system, so not the traditional B&B. Still very nice and good price.

We weren't sure what we would be facing when we arrived at the Matisse BnB but communication with John was great. He got us settled, gave us gift certificates for a local breakfast restaurant for the 2 mornings we were there, and showed us the best walking route into town. We parked the car and never moved it again until we left, which is how we like to experience a town.

We had a very enjoyable weekend stay at Matisse B & B while visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake. There were 3 rooms available and the one we were in was very clean and comfortable, with an ensuite bathroom. The B & B had most items a regular hotel would offer and at an affordable price. Our host John was very easy to get in touch with by text/phone call. Matisse was about 3/4 of a mile walk to the main attractions on Queen Street. As my spouse and I are both in our 60's, we opted to drive instead. There were 2 very close restaurants within walking distance, where we chose to have daily breakfast and dinner. We will definitely consider staying at Matisse B & B, should we be visiting the area again!

A bed and breakfast without the breakfast…. We did get the cost of our breakfasts reimbursed, but it wasn’t the experience we hoped for. Needed to use our car to get into the town center. A reasonable spot to stay, but not “exceptional “

John is friendly and informative. Room was very clean but small/cramped. The TV is located in the corner near the head of the bed and very inconvenient for watching. We were able to walk to the main business district, restaurant and theater. We were surprised to find out that breakfast was NOT ON SITE and we needed to go to one of two restaurants for our breakfast. The restaurants were good especially the one at the golf club, however, we were a disappointed that breakfast was not on site. That\'s part of being at a B&B. I see that other people have commented on this. Maybe the price should be reduced and advertised as "accommodations only".

We loved our 5 night stay at Matisse. Janet is super knowledgeable about the area attractions and has a wealth of tips on wineries to visit & how to get to them . Both E bikes & pedal bikes right nearby. There is a convenience store across the street with a huge variety of groceries & sundries. It is just over a km to walk to Queen St where the quaint shops & restaurants are. The breakfasts are large, tasty & innovative! You won’t need to have lunch till mid afternoon!

Really clean, nice room, in an ideal location. John was super kind. One of the intriguing things for me at a B&B is eating breakfast the following morning with the other guests. This was not an option at Matisse, but we did have an option to eat breakfast at a local eatery and the breakfast was fully refunded. There was little to no sound proofing as we could easily hear the guests in the next room.

We had a wonderful stay at Matisse B&B. It was very quiet and relaxing. We had one breakfast at the local golf clubhouse where we dined while looking out over Lake Ontario. Another day we ate a delicious breakfast at a nearby restaurant. Breakfast was included in the cost of accommodation. We found the town to be very walkable. We enjoyed the Shaw Festival, Fort Henry, and winetasting at a local winery/vineyard. Matisse B&B was our "home away from home" ... a comfortable place to return to in the evening.

BED BUT NO BREAKFAST ON SITE. Pros: located near central Niagara-on-the-Lake. Comfortable bed with ample closet space. Clean. Front door required a code to enter. The owner/manager John was friendly and informative when he met us to allow us in. Cons: No breakfast is offerred on site which is weird for a B&B. You have to go to one of 2 nearby restaurants and John will deduct the cost from your final bill. Not convenient if you are expecting to eat on site. John does not stay in the house while guests are there overnight which we thought was uncomfortable. Room 1 has no ensuite bathroom. You have to go across the hallway to access your own private bathroom. I had asked prior to arriving whether each room had its own bathroom which we were told "yes". it never occurred to us that it would be located outside the room!

We didn’t like having breakfast away from the house. But when we got there at the golf club for breakfast it was very good. We had a bottle of wine and drank it outside, beautiful, quiet and private.

Unfortunately the AC wasn’t very effective on the second storey. Bathroom was clean however it was very small and the shower was microscopic. Internet TV service wasn’t working until the morning of checking out. Great location to the old town and bike trail.

We stayed 3 nights May 27-30, 2026. I'll give a lengthy description since it may differ a bit from other B&B. There were three small rooms upstairs and a small kitchenette (coffee maker, microwave, small fridge, no sink). The kitchenette was for all three rooms to share. We were in room 3 and it had an ensuite, as did room 2, room 1 had the bathroom across the hall. Downstairs was a sitting room and table/chairs. Breakfast is not served here but a gift card is provided for a restaurant around the corner, which was very good and not an issue for us. Inside the house is immaculate, which we appreciated. Smells and is very clean! However the air conditioning doesn't quite make it upstairs, which is a problem in a warm day. Outdoor maintenance is largely ignored. The house, garage and property are very unkempt! Long grass, weedy gardens... It's a shame because the house and yard has sooooo much potential. Back yard grass got cut for the first time this season last day we were there, but not the front. For our short stay the cleanliness inside almost made up for the outside, however I would choose a more manicured B&B next trip.
