Our family of four stayed here, and the bunk beds and room set up worked perfectly for us. We felt less cramped in the bedroom area than we did at other hotels, and we loved the towel heater, lantern for night walking, and the quiet and lovely location, which was perfect for a family looking to walk the trails.

Great place. Saw it on ‘Harry’s Garage’ Coniston has amazing history. Went to the Riskin Museum to see Bluebird K7. Good parking.

Very helpful and very friendly staff. 10/10 to everyone works here making it very welcoming. Initailly booked a single night snd extended my stay becuade of this. Good quality rooms, facilities and the food is amazing too.

Excellent location with peaceful views of the lake.All staff very friendly and efficient.Buffet breakfast very good.Ordering meals and drink at the bar worked well.Many guests had dogs but all the dogs were very well behaved

Room was outdated and lots of quick fix jobs, didn’t colour and finish paint all around the room. Ceiling fan in bathroom was coming away and looked to be mouldy.

Great stay. Location is amazing. Staff warm and friendly, particularly Tom. Rooms need a bit of attention - finish esp ceiling in room isn't great and is easy to rectify. Food is very good and great atmosphere in pub and restaurant. We hope to be back.

The staff were helpful and hardworking but overworked. There was a stench of sewerage that was apparent outside and even indoors in certain areas. Our room was well ordered and comfortable. Definitely needs some attention to the waste!! Menus for vegetarians and for continental breakfasts extrememly limited.

Nice welcome, cozy and warm. Clean and bright rooms. Good menu and reasonably priced. Food could have been hotter but was tasty. Although a decent choice on the menu, 3 of the main courses were not available so was restricted with choice. All staff were friendly and chatty. Breakfast was disappointing, as we turned up at 9.15 choice was down to minimum and no glasses for juice and was told no further food would be cooked. Can see the future potential in what is being provided and will re-visit, and may try others further afield.

Very high cost and very negative experience. Real problem with smell from the septic field, even in your room. Rooms are very small and poorly designed. Major problem with constantly standing in line up to 10-15 minutes to order or do anything. Food quality is 5 out of 10 at best. NEVER EVER AGAIN! !

Checked in to an expensive room to find the view from the window was a brick wall about 6 foot away. To the left of that brick wall was a covered outside area for the staff so plenty of chatting can be heard with the window open. The bed was 2 single beds/mattresses pushed together. Definitely not the gorgeous views promised on their website! The only good thing was that they offered a full refund when we left 30 minutes after our arrival. It is on the lake so a great location, but only if your lucky enough not to get the budget room with NO view!

Food was nice.paid £250 to stay in a red hot room with a tiny side window that looked in to a brick wall.for the price its shocking.no bath.shower only.not very good for us smokers.a room with a view would of been nice.wont be returning theres alot better out there for much cheaper.honest review

Staff refuses to recognize our VIP Axess status with Expedia as they claimed no such agreement. Our room was a small dark attic type space with low angled ceilings and a tiny window that ruined our stay. Rest chef burned half the hot meals served and English b/f was the worst we eaten in our 8 nights visit to Lakes Dustrict. Highly recommend other guests avoid them.

Manager was super helpful and kind. He checked my tire pressure for me, gave me great directions for my hike, and let me check out a bit later as I wasn’t feeling well. Met his girlfriend the night before over dinner and she was very nice and also helpful with recommendations on my trip. Overall, great experience

Very good location with a view of the lake. Restaurant was good with friendly staff. 15 minutes walk from the village centre and a short drive from John Ruskin’s house which is well worth a visit. Even The Ild Man had no clouds! All in all we had an enjoyable two night break.

Great stay. Location is amazing. Staff warm and friendly, particularly Tom. Rooms need a bit of attention - finish esp ceiling in room isn't great and is easy to rectify. Food is very good and great atmosphere in pub and restaurant. We hope to be back.

Nice welcome, cozy and warm. Clean and bright rooms. Good menu and reasonably priced. Food could have been hotter but was tasty. Although a decent choice on the menu, 3 of the main courses were not available so was restricted with choice. All staff were friendly and chatty. Breakfast was disappointing, as we turned up at 9.15 choice was down to minimum and no glasses for juice and was told no further food would be cooked. Can see the future potential in what is being provided and will re-visit, and may try others further afield.

A very comfortable hotel, a friendly, homely place for a wonderful weekend stay. Excellent food and drinks. Can't fault it at all, looking forward to another visit soon. Thank you very much.

Annual trip to Coniston for the Lakeland running weekend. Stopped in this hotel several times. Handy for the lake if you want to go paddleboarding, swimming etc. Staff are great. Food is perhaps overpriced for what you get but okay. Rooms are ALWAYS swealteringly hot. Tip the staff gave me on check out this time, ask for rom in the extension as it is brick so cooler.

Great points; Staff were really helpful. There was one issue, but it was resolved so quickly and to satisfaction that its not even worth going into the details. They worked tirelessly and were all incredibly friendly. Room was perfectly spacious, plenty of necessities in the room, plus some additional (rare there's NICE conditioner in a hotel room so plus points). Breakfast was really lovely, plenty choice and replenished quickly. The room was warm - but they provided a fan which did its best to keep the room cool and we both slept well. Negative; It was a warm day, and outside the smell of the tanks was overwhelming if you were in the direction of the wind. Unfortunately this was where the seating was, unless you wanted to sit beside the lake (again, lovely), but its a bit of a walk back to the bar and the midges have a feast.

Buyer beware with this place. Paid for upgraded room with a view. Had tiny window overlooking pub garden with glimpse of lake if you stood directly at window. Bathroom refitted but with electric shower and shocking pressure. Considered washing at sink instead as so poor. Room was over hot without any heating on. Hot water pipes make floor hot - but no benefit in showering. Lift was slower than climbing the stairs to 2nd floor. Roast dinner was awful. Undercooked potatoes, cold on arrival and burnt cauliflower cheese. Staff did not collect plates outside or ask about meal concerns. Real disappointment as garden situ is lovely next to the lake. Won’t be returning and put off the hotel chain altogether.
