Bell Inn is a beautiful old inn, tastefully renovated, with a great restaurant, attentive staff, and all the basic amenities you might need. I only gave 4 stars because of the low doorways and ceilings. This is part of the charm, but also makes it harder for us taller folk to navigate!

We stayed at The Bell Inn for two nights with our dog. We had not been to Essex before. Our room was large and extremely comfortable with a wonderful selection of teas and coffees and a fridge. The breakfast was excellent. All staff were helpful and friendly. My one criticism would be that there was no non-slip mat or rail in the bath for safety in the shower.
