The Arts Hotel offers a different concept from a typical hotel room. Rooms have minimalist decor and are very small, but well designed. In the bedroom area there is a desk and chair, and a few hooks but no closet. Use the drawers under the bed to stow your suitcase. The bathroom shower door covers just the front of the shower, similar to showers seen in France. This is why there is another drain in the middle of the bathroom floor. The shower shares a wall with the main room. This is a VERY small room, but compared to an overnight cabin on a ferry or a train, there is plenty of space. There is a large common area on the 2nd floor with television, couches, tables, a sink, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and fridge. Behind that room is a laundry room. The active neighborhood has many restaurants and people out enjoying the evening.

This is a minimalist hotel. As long as you are prepared for that, it is in a great location and good value for money. There is a second floor lounge (where you can meet fellow guests) with a laundrey and ironing facility attached.

We quite enjoyed our stay. Staff were great! Room was very clean. There are no amenities as such in the room, but the 2nd floor lounge had everything you could need - laundry, TV, iron/ironing board, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, air fryer and a fridge. Close to everything. We would definitely stay here again.

Before you book, please note that the staff here is fantastic and accommodating. The rooms are limited, with only a bed and a small desk. There are no TVs in any rooms, but there is a common area on floor two where you can watch TV and relax on couches and board games. A music hall on the main floor has great acts you can watch.

Great price for a central hotel.something different from the big chains, and much cheaper. No TV or fridge in the room, but a communal fridge and 2 TV's a microwave , a toaster,a coffee machine, and a few washing machines and dryers on the 2nd floor , for general use.

There is a bar directly below the back of house rooms, and it is LOUD, so if you want to sleep before 2 am, ask for a room in the front of the hotel. They were very good about moving us. The music was so loud it reverberated in our first room, but when they moved us, we couldn't hear noise. The other things to know are: the TV, refrigerator and coffee (at a cost) are in a common room. The rooms are newly renovated, but don't have those amenities. The hotel has no parking. We paid 8.75 for a parkade that was a couple of minutes walk away. Staff was very courteous and helpful.

Enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Very simple but modern and clean rooms. Walking distance to all of downtown Charlottetown, restaurants, bars, shops, waterfront.

Great location, super walkable to city center spots. Our room at the end of the 4th floor was quiet despite a nearby bar and café. Spacious, clean bathroom, no TV or appliances but we knew that when booking. Nice lounge on the 2nd floor to heat food and watch TV. Friendly staff. Warning! Read the hotel description carefully! I missed the fact that they are a “minimalist” hotel. This means you get a bed, a table, a chair and a bathroom - nothing else - including service! We reported a broken toilet seat as soon as we checked in and 3 days later on check-out, it remained unfixed. The mattress was great, but with room only being 7.5 to 8 feet wide, if you get stuck with the wrong side of the bed, you will have to learn the pidgeon-tow shuffle to get around the bed in the 10 to 11 inch gap between the bed and the wall. It became a bit of a joke between my wife and I (of course I got stuck with learning the shuffle). The room was mostly clean but they use an open shower so water goes everywhere and, of course, they don’t clean the room so you have to clean it yourself to prevent slippage. The lack of daily cleaning also leaves a breeding ground for mildew in the shower. It has some potential, but I will never stay there again.

High end hostel. Nice shower terrific bed. Very compact - tiny room. Not good for big people. No tv I can live with but how about a radio/clock. Inadequate lighting to read in bed. One chair so if 2 people 2 suitcases you both are sitting in bed. Not good value unless you travel light, are a minimalist and just want a shower and sleep And weight under 200 pounds!!!!

They call it a minimalist hotel and they mean it... It was mostly ok. Big turn off was the stall door on the bathroom. I'm ok with minimalist but I think the added cost for a bathroom door would be worth it ;)

Unique hotel in a great location. Very clean! Not a huge fan of the bathroom privacy (frosted glass from floor to ceiling for walls, with a sliding glass door) but it wasn't an issue. We were on the 3rd floor and we lucked out that it just happened to be very quiet for our stay, however the walls are thin and the door has gaps so I wouldn't describe it as a quiet hotel by any means. Overall we had a great stay and would likely stay again! Great value.

This hotel sells itself as a minimalist hotel but it might go too far. Our room is barely bigger than our bed, there are no lamps - just overhead lighting, no screens on the windows and the door to the hall has at least a 1/2 inch gab at the bottom so you can hear everything and the hall light shines in the room. It is in a good location for restaurants and walking around though.

This hotel looks new. Its rooms are modern and clean. HOWEVER, the rooms are also TINY and give new meaning to minimilist. There is no clock, no tv and no phone. If you want a hair dryer, you have to go to reception. If none of that matters to you, it's near all the local attractions.

The front desk staff was very friendly. Parking is available in a garage lot right behind the hotel, was about 8 dollars for the night. The room was clean and comfortable, lacking a tv but this is described in the listing. I stayed on a Thursday night. When I booked I got a message from the hotel indicating that they have shows on the main floor that can be noisy in the evenings. I was on the 3rd floor and could very clearly hear the drumming from the venue. However, I was warned about this before my visit and was able to cancel if I so chose, so no foul there.

The hotel management gave me a full refund when my flight was cancelled by Air Canada. I was extremely grateful as my holiday was cancelled without any other options. Front desk were wonderful and I look forward to a future visit.

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. They also were able to store our bicycles in the basement for safekeeping during our stay and were very prompt on bringing them to the reception area when we we’re ready to go for a ride.

We had a great experience from the moment we walked on the door! Staff very charming, hospitality and knowledgeable. Very good representation for your hotel! Very happy with the room, clean comfortable! Visited the common room/lounge area. Very great idea! Impressed with the Music Hall and the Dali restaurant. Location was great… minutes from the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Would definitely stay again and have already referred other friends. Thanks for a nice stay! Joanne

We paid 8.75 for a parkade that was a couple of minutes walk away. Staff was very courteous and helpful.

Excellent location! Right downtown within arms reach of shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Five minute walk to the pier. Area can be a little rough at night.

Very good economic option (plain but new, clean, and not too small). Located within walking distance of all downtown attractions. The hotel does not have its own parking, but there is street parking and an all-day pay parking nearby.

The location of this property is awesome! Very walkable to restaurants and entertainment in the area. We hit the jackpot the night we stayed there as there was a comedy “kitchen party” in the onsite theatre. It was worth the $30 ticket price! No parking available on site but a parkade is right down the street for $8.25/day. The beds were comfortable but the rooms are tight for 2 people with luggage. No mini fridge, no TV, and no coffee maker in the room (Tim Horton’s is a 2 minute walk). If you’re only looking for a comfortable bed to rest your body, then this is the place for you!

Would never recommend this place to anyone. Large room but nothing in it. No TV, no minni fridge, one chair. No breakfast included. Had to pay for coffee. We have stayed in a lot cheaper hotels with more amenities (the basics). NOT WORTH THE MONEY

This is an exceptional hotel. Right in the downtown of Charlottetown. Walking distance to many pubs, restaurants, and attractions. They even have a great cafe just off of the lobby! And the trailside has live music! A fantastic place for a getaway. I highly recommend staying here.

Pros: The hotel is brand new and a beautiful place in a great area easy to get around and about 10-15min walk from the water. It's attached to a food place (we didn't eat there) that looked good, albeit a bit expensive. Front desk staff were very friendly Cons: the people at the front desk didn't seem to know the area all that well and struggled a bit with telling us where to go and what to do, the room has no TV, no dresser, no fridge, no microwave, no coffee. Although this was in the description, I honestly didn't notice it so it was a surprise when we got there (it's a HUGE room and very empty seeming). It didn't matter to us for one night but might matter to others. Also, they have live music in the restaurant area that is POUNDING. We were on the third floor on a weeknight so it ended at 10pm. Be aware that it can go til 2am on weekends and you can definitely feel/hear it a few floors up.

The Arts Hotel does a fantastic job for what it offers: a no-frills stay. (I personally did not enjoy the glass-walled bathroom-maybe it's just me.), and I feel the no-frills brand goes a little too far (no hair dryer in the bathroom, for instance; bring your own). The first night of our stay was very loud, with some sort of loud event going on nearby (not the hotel's fault!). Still, the hotel staff were kind and welcoming, and the hotel is central and very clean, with a lovely looking cafe (which we did not get to appreciate due to a private event held there the night we stayed).

The staff were absolutely wonderful! I felt like I was coming home! The Dali restaurant downstairs, as part of the hotel, was the perfect meeting spot with lounge chairs, a full menu, and open garage doors to watch the world go by. Can’t wait to go back next year!

We had a great experience from the moment we walked on the door! Staff very charming, hospitality and knowledgeable. Very good representation for your hotel! Very happy with the room, clean comfortable! Visited the common room/lounge area. Very great idea! Impressed with the Music Hall and the Dali restaurant. Location was great… minutes from the Confederation Centre of the Arts. Would definitely stay again and have already referred other friends. Thanks for a nice stay! Joanne

Very cute boutique hotel. Nothing fancy but everything you need. Lovely coffee shop and live entertainment in the entry was fantastic. Pretty much right in the heart of downtown, is walking distance to everything you would need to check out on your stay. Will definitely be back.

The room is ridiculously small, no amenities. You have to go to the lounge on the 2nd floor to buy a coffee in the morning. No fridge or microwave and no TV. Very poor lighting. Never ever going back! It was way over priced considering it was like staying in a closet

Would absolutely not recommend this hotel unfortunately. The club next door was extremely, extremely loud. Our room on the third floor felt like we were in the club. The windows were actually shaking with the noise. Despite wearing earplugs, we got zero sleep until well after 2am when the club closed. We were totally unaware of the noise issues at this hotel and had received no information on our booking regarding the noise issue. We would never have booked this hotel if we had have known about the noise. We essentially did not get any sleep. Check in was terrible. 4pm with no opportunity for early check in when we had a wedding at 330 was tough. The hotel staff suggested getting ready at the bathroom in the cafe next door. The bathroom did not have outlets and the cafe/music hall patrons and staff were upset with us for having to use their bathroom (understandable but also the only option as per the hotel staff). The staff said the room keys were not working - thus, a staff member had to let us in the room every time we entered throughout our stay. Very inconvenient. Also a safety concern as we did not have to provide identification for getting access to our room (ie. we could have asked to be let in any room number and it seemed the staff would have opened the door for us. We felt very unnerved leaving our stuff in the room due to this). Room was mostly clean - however, some hairs were noticed in our bed sheets which wasn’t ideal. Not worth the price whatsoever.
