Caswell Resort

There are not a ton of options in the area and the Caswell Resort is a good option. They have been working hard in the last few years to get it into better shape. It's a great location, walking distance to all the stores and restaurants in the area. We did like the access to the lake (which included the use of canoes and kayak). They also have a pretty good outdoor area with picnic tables, bbqs and chairs.

When you pull into the parking lot, it seems very underwhelming but the gym is excellent and sitting on the little deck looking out at the lake with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine is well worth the stay. And the price is very reasonable for a clean comfy bed. Would recommend.

Beautiful beach, use of canoes, paddle boat and kayaks. Indoor pool and workout room. Peaceful location. You can tell the new owners are trying to restore it. Our cabin was clean and comfortable. We extended our stay by 2 days and would love to book again one day!

The lake view was amazing .. staff was friendly.. does need a updating on facilities.. older cottages. Needs work needs a upgrade on more comfotable beds and pillows need to be bigger and firmer. The fire alarm on ceilling needs a battery didnt seem to work. And ther was a mouse trap in bathroom under sink.. also a deadbolt would feel more safwr for a lock in room. Otherwise was ok and on wrbsidte shows there a pool but its not in service.

One night; loved our stay. Friendly staff & cute place. So pleasant to sit on patio, outside room, overlooking lake…peaceful! Later took canoe out at sunset. Stunning views on lake & so warm still (Aug). All canoes/life jackets free hire. Lake huge/hardly anyone on. Sundridge lovely place: shops/park/a few eateries nearby. We later had smores: free use on grounds of traditional fire pit (many) & hotel sold us firewood & fire starter. Would recommend this place for sure! Didn’t use pool but looked fine. Room basic but had everything we needed: fridge, kettle & air con. Good shower & comfortable bed. Really good value!

Great property and location! Right on the beach! So much stuff to do on the resort, beach with sandy and clean waters, free non motorized boats and life jackets to use, indoor pool, restaurant on site, volleyball/ badminton net with grass court, fire pits right on the beach. It was honestly so good for the price! Not to mention there is a public park next door with play structures and splash pad for the kids. We stayed in one of the cabins, and it was way bigger than expected, with a patio out back, abs we we only like 20 feet from the water. Fantastic, we plan on returning for sure!

This is a hidden gem - it’s rustic but you have that sense when you book it. It was the perfect get away and with lots of surprises in the area to explore. The drive here was great and the Foodland was an experience!!! The prices were completely reasonable and there is this little gift store that has some amazing finds. Highly recommend! The coffee shop across the street from hotel is an amazing little bistro I was not expecting. The gym is incredible for a hotel facility and if you needed a few days to train away from everything this is your gym!! Again this is an unexpected and impressive surprise!

It has a beautiful view and you can use boats to go on the water. Very nice park like back space. My only complaint would be wi-fi almost none think got on once. And pillows, please get regular pillow the little square ones are cushion pillows

I chose this hotel because of the indoor pool. However, during my stay, I found that the pool heating system was not working. The water and the pool area were so cold that it was impossible to use the pool.

On the plus side, this hotel is right on the lake with some watercraft to borrow for free (bring your own lifejackets though, as there was just a small selection). Our cabin had a nice little deck and very good A/C. And it was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The exterior of the hotel is very run down and unkempt, with weeds and peeling paint everywhere. Inside, the room was better, but we did have rusty lamps and a broken mirror, and finding a mouse trap under our bathroom sink when looking for toilet paper wasn’t much fun. We were there for two days with no housekeeping service so our family had to make do with three extremely flimsy towels. Our TV wouldn’t work unless we turned it on from behind (took us awhile to figure that out; it had nothing to do with the remote batteries). And the wifi was just non-existent. I asked at reception and they proceeded to write down the password all over again even as I told them what it was. No, my entire family didn’t input it wrong! The cabins/rooms down one side of property clearly are for long-term renters. Some we met were very nice. But a couple blasted music all day outside. Unfortunately, the hotel options aren’t plentiful in this area, which is to be expected, but this place is in desperate need of some upgrades. It has so much unused potential.

I had to mop the floors myself with a spare towel and soap, that’s how unclean the floors were. A fuse blew … just from having the lights on. Holes in the blankets.

Over priced and dirty. Very disappointed. The beds were clean and comfortable, but the floor (cabin) floor made us feel like we were in an old camper or a boat and we had to wear our shoes as it was dirty. The bathroom was so rundown it felt like a glorified outhouse.

I spilt a bit of water on the floor and wiped it up with a towel from the bathroom, it was gross, had I known before sleeping I would not have been able to sleep, and wouldn't have stayed, you get what you pay for

Staff were polite and friendly. They "upgraded" me from cabin to suite at no cost - that was nice of them. 1st suite hadn't been cleaned after previous guests (garbage strewn everywhere, towel in and on shower floor, bed disaster). 2nd suite was alright, no heat in bedroom though and the wifi didn't reach the bathroom or bedroom. This is where it gets bad... I went to climb into bed and put extra blankets on. They had holes and barely covered the top of the mattress. They were ratty, like the spare ones you find in your grandma's attic. Oh well... Pull back the sheets and blanket to find a few hairs and stained sheets. Ew. Kept going and found a pubic hair. Kept pulling and found no less than a dozen hairs. I called the office. They ended up bringing me new sheets. I took the sheet off and pillow cases to find the mattress protector looking even more stained (and more hair) than the sheets and the pillows had yellow marks and more hair on them too. So, I ended up sleeping in the hard as a rock loveseat instead and used my coat as a pillow. As if it couldn't get worse. Someone tried to open the patio door to my room twice in the night.

The room had no heat. we contacted the hotel, worker came down to fix. it was fixed for about 30mins and the heat turned off again. it was -25c outside and freezing inside. we travelled with our 1 year old which made this stay uncomfortable. the beds had very thin blankets. the bed was extremely uncomfortable. we were cold all night. we had a space heater but that only did so much. for $130 i expected so much more. and a warm room. will not be coming back: wouldn’t recommend.

Staff was friendly and quick. One room was recently renovated and was clean comfortable and quiet. The other room was a cabin it too was clean and and quiet but it was showing its age inside. The grounds surrounding the cabins are rough, very rough, with muddy pothole laden driveway and parking and a flooded path right to the front door that looked like it has been that way forever. Also, these are no smoking cabins but ours had two cans for butts which were literally full to the brim.

Good accommodations for the money. Easy parking close to the entrance. Nice and roomy with a living room area with a coffee table and couch separate from the bedroom. The bed was comfortable and clean. The room was a little chilly and the heating control wasn’t intuitive.

Things I enjoyed: The efficient, helpful front desk clerk, the clean and quiet room, and borrowing a canoe to go for an early morning adventure around the lake. Things I didn't enjoy so much: the shower got cold very quickly and the room wouldn't warm up to a temperature I found comfortable.

The only reason to stay was because this location was convenient and one of the only places close to our family function. We were upgraded to a water front cabin. There is not much good to say, these are old building with older bathroom facilities that are crowded (ei: bathroom door does not open all the way as it hits the toilet).

Check in was quick , the only issue was there was no hot water in the cabin.

BE AWARE of the glowing 5/5 reviews. They are fake from friends and family of the owners and paid bot account fake reviews and not legitimate reviews at all. I checked in and checked out demanding a refund within 20 minutes. If you have no self esteem and don’t care what your place looks like , this is the place for you. No care whatsoever into ensuring their guests have a clean semi decorated safe room to stay in. If they offer Rooms 25 -32 you are in a separate building beside the main building to the right. The room locks are what you might find for a bathroom. No deadbolts on your room door. No access control to the building the rooms are in , so literally anyone inclined could easily just walk in and break into any room because the room locks are the cheapest you can buy from a discount hardware store. The rooms are old , they smell, peeling paint and old worn out furniture. Bare wire and no effort whatsoever to decorating the rooms or hiding the amateur handyman wiring. Radiator was filthy and stained . Hallways are FILTHY . Utterly filthy! The cabins beside the main building and behind the main building are rented out as permanent units and some of the people living in them are kind of frightening. Nothing seeing crackhead Karen standing outside a cabin having a cigarette while your pulling in to make you feel welcome. The only good thing about this place would be the view of Lake Bernard.

What a little gem! The property is amazing and this is our new oasis. The owners are super nice and accommodating.

My stay was very short as I came in from out of town later than expected. I called the hotel to arrange that I might be checking in later than their time. They accommodated but in the end I was able to make the check in time. Quick transaction and was in my room. My only negative was that the fridge was not plugged in and I had some food that I had wanted to take out of my cooler. But all in all it didn’t change my opinion on my stay. Very clean and comfortable.

The staff is super friendly and check in was simple. A great little resort style stay.

This Hotel is terrible and host is extremely rude.

I grew up in this area and was looking forward to returning to the area. Upon arrival I was extremely satisfied with my room until I realized the television didn’t work. Then when I woke up the next day, the pipes were frozen. When I returned, my power was out! I went to speak to the front desk only to find no solution for me (I needed a shower after playing hockey and they didn’t have anywhere for me to shower) but then, right in front of my eyes, they gave a key to a different room to three ladies who were also complaining about no power. So I was left to sit and wait until all three finished their showers before I was able to go and finally be clean. Not impressed is an understatement.

Property is tired and worn out. Room was adequate, clean, but nothing nice about it. The property fronts onto a nice little beach. I unfortunately left my phone charger and battery at the hotel and despite many calls to the manager and many promises from him to mail them back to me at my cost, the manager never followed through. The other staff seemed nice if a bit harried. I would not go back to this property or recommend it to anyone.

It took over 15 minutes for someone to show up to check us in. We took a cabin by the lake. It had no cold water in the bathroom sink. The hot water was scalding hot. The floors had a terrible slope. The bedding was very faded. The curtains did not fit the windows. It was very obvious that all repairs were done personally and not by a professional. We stayed from Friday 4pm check in to Monday when we left at 8:30 am, and only seen the 1 person who checked us in. There was no one around to talk to. Who runs a hotel and resort where front desk is not open til after 9 am?

This resort had really beautiful rooms and they were sparkling clean and well kept, i had a beautiful suite with a deck and chairs facing the water. Very quiet, only complaint for the room, is it was very cold in the room and theres no microwave, everytime my son needed a bottle i had to walk to a separate building, with no lights to see at night, across the backyard lawn to finally get a microwave in the back. The front desk doesnt open till 9am which me and other customers were lined up waiting to get our deposits back causing a big delay in our trip, we wanted to depart first thing, but we had to wait until 9am. The common areas doors were very disgusting and counters weren't clean. The pizzeria below is the best pizza on planet earth. 100% worth the price.

Beautiful stay, Neal and his wife was amazing. We got the lake view room plus we were warm and felt safe. Unfortunately no breakfast and because of Sunday, no breakfast place or restaurants open until an hour drive.
