A broken fence that's missing fence boards is in front of the entrance. Upon entering , there is a 10 inch long horrible stain on the 4th step of the stairs accompanied by a horrible damp smell from the lower level. The couch was badly stained and we covered it with a table cloth that we keep handy for a picnic table covers. The windows rattle all night and need replacing. We tried using paper towel in the gaps of the window seal to quiet them up some. Most of the plates, glasses and kitchen supply were great, but one of the kitchen knives had a broken jagged handle and was not usable without wrapping a hand towel around it. The bed was comfortable, the couch was greatly stained and should be returned to what ever roadside it came from. The heaters don't all work. The bathroom wall heater doesn't, and the heater nearest the bed didn't come on until the second day (possibly an electrical issue). There's an unkempt and unfinished side yard and backyard with a large metal shipping container in it. The side yard was full of construction leftovers. Ideas like this should be disclosed to guests before purchasing their stay. This could be a wonderful property close to the beach and great hiking, once finished, but currently is in mid process.

The studio was a great get away when th a beautiful view, clean living arrangements and comfortable bed. The fenced yard was quite large and doesn’t appear in pictures. Great trip.

We stayed at this dog-friendly 1 room cottage. The room was clean and well stocked, with an enclosed yard for our dog. The bathroom was big with plenty of towels and soap, shampoo, etc. The kitchen was huge and had 3 kinds of coffee-makers! The bed and couch were comfy. The only negatives were that the room was up a long, steep staircase, which would have been useful to know in advance. Our current pup handled the stairs, but our previous one would not have been able to. And the yard could use some landscaping.

Property is nice, cool neighborhood, quick access to amazing beautiful beach and killer trails. Not perfect, some things are under construction. Nice big yard which will be landscapd, but for now is messy. Some light bulbs out, one heater broken, windows are about to be replaced but for now are worn out and hard to open & close. Overall, one of my favorite spots in northern ca. This property willsoon be amuch bigger, more expensive rental when the in-process renovations are complete. We had fun, and the BIG reason was Matt Madeiros! Matt responded quickly to anything we needed, and helped us with ebike rentals--highly recommended. Ebikes allowed us to take an amazing scenic ride up into the mountains--it was a lifetime experience, and the trailhead was steps from the property. THANKS MATT! We will be back.

Great location a block from the State beach and a trailhead for hiking and biking with beautiful ocean views. The house is lovely, and quiet with a huge yard and it was great to be able to have my dog with me. Would love to come back again.

Cozy and comfortable with everything you need, including a view of the ocean! Close to all of the good dining spots and hiking trails. We were there during the most recent storm, lost power most of Saturday night, sat in the dark with cell phone light because there were no candles. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a coastal getaway!

Great property, great location. Quiet, quaint neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. Very clean and well stocked kitchen. The walk to the beach was super short and so beautiful! Quick car ride to Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. Dogs loved the large yard and outdoor space. The is a rather large gap in the fenced driveway so we did have to keep them away from that so they didn't escape. Looks like they are upgrading and improving the property but, it was absolutely perfect for my daughter and I and our two small dogs, we kept a window open so we could hear the ocean all night. Such an easy and seemless transaction. Definitely hope we can come back again. Thank you for a great Christmas getaway.

This is a one room cabin on a hillside with spectacular views. Comfortable unit but no central heating at night. Once you enter the property there are 15 stairs up to the living area. Questionable situation for some seniors. Short walk to the beach which is Stunning. No crosswalk to cross Highway 1 to get to the beach and have to wait for break in traffic to cross. Not an issue if driving to beach. My booking was through VRBO. However, all communication were with a property management company who sent me inaccurate check information several times. No issues once you arrive.

I loved being in earshot of the ocean, easy walking distance to the beach. It's not a fancy house--one big rooms, windows stick when you try to open them, basic yard landscaping. For a writing retreat like I was on, though, it was perfect.

We liked the gate so we felt safe. The neighborhood was quiet like our neighborhood. We slept with the windows open and there wasn't much noise from Highway One. Montara was close to everything. However, I noticed that the coffee filter was not emptied after the previous guest and there was a tear on the side of the bottom fitted sheet. That set should be tossed. Also the bottom of the shower was very slippery and since there is no fan or ventilation in the bathroom, the bottom of shower should be scrubbed with cleanser after each guest to prevent falls. During the summer I work at a local campground as part of the housekeeping staff and am always looking for hazards. I want to give a shout out to Matt who always responded back quickly. He amazed me with his courtesy and ability to help me with concerns and questions. Thanks Matt!

We throughly enjoyed staying this property! We loved the close proximity to the beach, Muir Woods,Napa Valley and historical points of interest ! This place was clean and looked just like the photos! We felt safe here and will definitely tell our friends about it!

Overall our stay was pleasant. However, there were some hitches. Here are some details, The TV was not working more than couple of days. You tried to have it fixed but to no avail. The bathtub was very pretty, but also very slippery and there were no grab bars or anything else one could hold onto while taking a shower. For old people like us it represented a real problem. I pointed this out to you while we stayed there and hope for your sake you will try to remedy this. We are also landlords and had been warned about what the consequences for some sort of accident might be. Climbing the stairs, especially with luggage, was an issue only for us. However, a few words in the write-up would have been helpful. Everything else in the house was great. The appliances, dishes and the furnishing were great. The neighborhood was pretty and people we met were very friendly. I hope you will take our comments in the spirit that it was made. Constructive. Regards, George,

We stayed here for a mini staycation and appreciated that it was walking distance to the beach, hiking trails, and even the marine reserve. The place is quaint and cozy, and has a fully stocked kitchen and pantry (pots/pans, oil, seasonings, etc). We also appreciated all the streaming options that didn't require us to log into our own accounts. The only hiccup we experienced were the ~5 flies flying around the house when we checked in. It was off putting, but someone came over with Raid after we told the host. I suspect the flies come in from the front door since the windows have screens. I'd recommend that the host keep a fly swatter in the house for future guests.

While we stayed just one night, we found the accomodations just right for the two of us and our small doggie. The location ideal as it was close (2 blocks) to the ocean and several of our favorite restaurants. The rental is basically one large room with livingroom space, bed and kitchen with a separate bathroom. The TV and WiFi reception were excellant. Kitchen had all the basic pots, pans, microwave, coffee maker and utensils. Kitchen cabinets were well stocked with goodies. I found the bed a little soft for my liking but I slept well with the ocean air. Only negative is that there is only a tub shower and no grab bar. Being 79, I felt that posed a fall hazard, for me, so I decided on a towel bath for one night instead. Would book again for longer stay if this was corrected.

We had a wonderful stay, the place matched the description and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The internet was fast and reliable, and the TV offered plenty of streaming options for entertainment. The house is conveniently located within a short walking distance to the beach, which was fantastic. The room, situated above a garage, was cozy and comfortable. Though it did get a bit stuffy after being out for a while, opening the windows quickly cooled it off. The neighborhood felt close-knit and safe even though it was busy. While we couldn't hear the ocean as much as we had hoped, we could still see it from the house.

While we couldn't hear the ocean as much as we had hoped, we could still see it from the house.

Overall our stay was pleasant. However, there were some hitches. Here are some details, The TV was not working more than couple of days. You tried to have it fixed but to no avail. The bathtub was very pretty, but also very slippery and there were no grab bars or anything else one could hold onto while taking a shower. For old people like us it represented a real problem. I pointed this out to you while we stayed there and hope for your sake you will try to remedy this. We are also landlords and had been warned about what the consequences for some sort of accident might be. Climbing the stairs, especially with luggage, was an issue only for us. However, a few words in the write-up would have been helpful. Everything else in the house was great. The appliances, dishes and the furnishing were great. We stayed at this dog-friendly 1 room cottage. The room was clean and well stocked, with an enclosed yard for our dog. The bathroom was big with plenty of towels and soap, shampoo, etc. The kitchen was huge and had 3 kinds of coffee-makers! The bed and couch were comfy. The only negatives were that the room was up a long, steep staircase, which would have been useful to know in advance. Our current pup handled the stairs, but our previous one would not have been able to. And the yard could use some landscaping.

Great location a block from the State beach and a trailhead for hiking and biking with beautiful ocean views. The house is lovely, and quiet with a huge yard and it was great to be able to have my dog with me. Would love to come back again.

This is a one room cabin on a hillside with spectacular views. Comfortable unit but no central heating at night. Once you enter the property there are 15 stairs up to the living area. Questionable situation for some seniors. Short walk to the beach which is Stunning. No crosswalk to cross Highway 1 to get to the beach and have to wait for break in traffic to cross. Not an issue if driving to beach. My booking was through VRBO. However, all communication were with a property management company who sent me inaccurate check information several times. No issues once you arrive.

Apartment is as described. Good location. One large room. Fine for what we needed for our weekend stay near our family. Only improvement request would be for somewhere to put our clothes so we could get out of our suitcases. And the bedside table lamp was not functional so couldn’t read in bed. But Montara is a cool coastal town with lots to do nearby.

I loved being in earshot of the ocean, easy walking distance to the beach. It's not a fancy house--one big rooms, windows stick when you try to open them, basic yard landscaping. For a writing retreat like I was on, though, it was perfect.

While we stayed just one night, we found the accomodations just right for the two of us and our small doggie. The location ideal as it was close (2 blocks) to the ocean and several of our favorite restaurants. The rental is basically one large room with livingroom space, bed and kitchen with a separate bathroom. The TV and WiFi reception were excellant. Kitchen had all the basic pots, pans, microwave, coffee maker and utensils. Kitchen cabinets were well stocked with goodies. I found the bed a little soft for my liking but I slept well with the ocean air. Only negative is that there is only a tub shower and no grab bar. Being 79, I felt that posed a fall hazard, for me, so I decided on a towel bath for one night instead. Would book again for longer stay if this was corrected.

We liked the gate so we felt safe. The neighborhood was quiet like our neighborhood. We slept with the windows open and there wasn't much noise from Highway One. Montara was close to everything. However, I noticed that the coffee filter was not emptied after the previous guest and there was a tear on the side of the bottom fitted sheet. That set should be tossed. Also the bottom of the shower was very slippery and since there is no fan or ventilation in the bathroom, the bottom of shower should be scrubbed with cleanser after each guest to prevent falls. During the summer I work at a local campground as part of the housekeeping staff and am always looking for hazards. I want to give a shout out to Matt who always responded back quickly. He amazed me with his courtesy and ability to help me with concerns and questions. Thanks Matt!

Property is nice, cool neighborhood, quick access to amazing beautiful beach and killer trails. Not perfect, some things are under construction. Nice big yard which will be landscapd, but for now is messy. Some light bulbs out, one heater broken, windows are about to be replaced but for now are worn out and hard to open & close. Overall, one of my favorite spots in northern ca. This property willsoon be amuch bigger, more expensive rental when the in-process renovations are complete. We had fun, and the BIG reason was Matt Madeiros! Matt responded quickly to anything we needed, and helped us with ebike rentals--highly recommended. Ebikes allowed us to take an amazing scenic ride up into the mountains--it was a lifetime experience, and the trailhead was steps from the property. THANKS MATT! We will be back.

Great property, great location. Quiet, quaint neighborhood. Friendly neighbors. Very clean and well stocked kitchen. The walk to the beach was super short and so beautiful! Quick car ride to Pacifica and Half Moon Bay. Dogs loved the large yard and outdoor space. The is a rather large gap in the fenced driveway so we did have to keep them away from that so they didn't escape. Looks like they are upgrading and improving the property but, it was absolutely perfect for my daughter and I and our two small dogs, we kept a window open so we could hear the ocean all night. Such an easy and seemless transaction. Definitely hope we can come back again. Thank you for a great Christmas getaway.

We stayed here for a mini staycation and appreciated that it was walking distance to the beach, hiking trails, and even the marine reserve. The place is quaint and cozy, and has a fully stocked kitchen and pantry (pots/pans, oil, seasonings, etc). We also appreciated all the streaming options that didn't require us to log into our own accounts. The only hiccup we experienced were the ~5 flies flying around the house when we checked in. It was off putting, but someone came over with Raid after we told the host. I suspect the flies come in from the front door since the windows have screens. I'd recommend that the host keep a fly swatter in the house for future guests.

We had a wonderful stay, the place matched the description and we thoroughly enjoyed our trip. The internet was fast and reliable, and the TV offered plenty of streaming options for entertainment. The house is conveniently located within a short walking distance to the beach, which was fantastic. The room, situated above a garage, was cozy and comfortable. We keep coming back because this has become our pup’s favorite staycation spot. He loves the large yard, watching the trails from the windows, and exploring the nearby beach and hiking trails with us.The home is simple, comfortable, and has everything needed for a few days away. During our last stay, the yard had become overgrown with foxtails, which can be dangerous for dogs. The owners responded quickly and sent a gardener, but the clippings were left behind, so we weren’t comfortable letting our pup run freely.A few improvements, such as working windows for enjoying the ocean breeze and a fire pit in the yard, would make the experience even better. Overall, we love the peaceful feel of Montara and look forward to returning.

Close to the beach, quiet, no issues checking in or out. Bed was super comfortable. Loved looking out at the beach and seeing the water. I could not figure out how to turn the lights on or if they’re were lights at all in the backyard on so taking dogs out at night was a little difficult. The gate at the end of the driveway doesn’t meet the pavement, so if you have smaller dogs will have to watch very closely that they don’t crawl under.
Close to the beach, quiet, no issues checking in or out. Bed was super comfortable. Loved looking out at the beach and seeing the water. I could not figure out how to turn the lights on or if they’re were lights at all in the backyard on so taking dogs out at night was a little difficult. The gate at the end of the driveway doesn’t meet the pavement, so if you have smaller dogs will have to watch very closely that they don’t crawl under.
