Trópica Beach Hotel

Excellent, clean, offer towels and beach chairs

Jessica, who checked us in, is a delight! We left our bags with them due to very early arrival off our cruise ship. She gave us restaurant suggestions in the area & texted when our room was ready. They provide beach chairs, towels & a cooler of ice to make your beach time nice. Our room & bath were nice, the bed & pillows could be better. We had a terrible experience with interrupted sleep both nights! Our room was in the back and the floor above a courtyard the hotel shares with a restaurant next door. There are signs posted asking guests to honor "Quiet Time" as of 10 PM. The first night (Sat), 3-4 men talked well past 10:00 when the restaurant closed. We went down twice & asked they stop; finally they left at 10:45! The 2nd night the same group of men woke us up talking at 2 AM & stayed there until 3:55! I'm certain it was the same men and this is where they gather socially on a regular basis! If you want an uninterrupted night of sleep, don't stay here or request you NOT be on the back of the building.

We were a group of four adults that stayed in the junior suite (one king, one queen and a rollaway sofa bed.) For the money, we found Trópica to be an excellent option. The neighborhood is lovely and the property is steps from the beach. The staff were tremendously nice and helpful. The place is very clean. The room was a little small (and cold, though that might have been our inability to figure out the A/C), but none of that felt like any sort of deal breaker.

Perfect location! Beach is only one short block away! Hotel has everything you need…they supply beach towels and beach chairs. Jessica who worked at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating and gave great recommendations. Loved the courtyard area to relax and cool off in plunge pool. Only short uber ride to Old San Juan and great restaurants within walking distance. Perfect long weekend get away!
