Beacon Inn 1087

Nice old brownstone in great location. This is not a modern hotel, so no elevator and an old feel, but I loved it.

The property was very unique and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. However, the room was extremely hot and there seemed to be very little air flow. Opening the windows only exposed us to the noise from the traffic outside so it was not a restful night's sleep. Also, having to carry our luggage up 3 flights of stairs was a little challenging.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful Brookline, minutes from downtown Boston. We stayed in a double room - it was huge, with a large bathroom. Loved the decor, especially the wallpaper and fireplace. Very friendly staff. Note to future guests: this is an old walkup building - staying here is like going back in time. The doors have regular keys, not cards. Our room had a small fridge with freezer, but nothing else related to food - no microwave or coffeemaker. Thankfully we brought a tea kettle, so this was not a problem. The free breakfast consisted of dry foods (bagels, croissants, cereal) and bananas, nothing fancy, but there are many restaurants, and an H Mart steps away. You can't beat the price at this location, and if I have to travel to Boston in the future, I will make sure to stay here again.

Not a lot of parking

Mixed reaction, but mostly positive. Beautiful property and great location, but noisy overnight due to sound of the trolleys directly outside and no real public area. Ask for parking spot early and get to the property early enough so that the staff can direct you into your parking spot which is extremely tight (Staff leave at 9 PM). Didn't like having to park in a No Parking zone on Beacon St. while checking in. Light was out over sink in the bathroom and towels weren't the nicest. Nice to have continental breakfast and had it in front garden area which was delightful.

Liked the location, the room was clean, and the staff was gracious and accommodating.. The property is old and needs to be more clearly described -- for example, "private bathroom" means a space reserved only for you - but at the opposite end of the hallway. Parking is very tight and needs to be reserved in advance - but it was not clear from the description. The third floor room without an elevator was ok for me but may not be for others.

This hotel is in a great location - walkable to Fenway Park. The hotel is a beautiful old home that has been transformed into hotel rooms. I do wish the hotel had warned us that there was no elevator as we were on the 4th floor, and carrying our bags up was a challenge.

I thought it was free parking when they say parking available doesn't mean its free $33 for street parking

An old-fashioned Inn. Step back in time. Truly lovely. No frills, but comfortable. Make sure you can hike up stairs.

Old mansion with clean quiet rooms. Very comfortable and convenient. Had a very good feel to me . Stairs no elevator. Very nice place to stay!

It was an Appartement in an old house. It could have been maintained better. Houskeeping needs improvement. It was not very clean in our room

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel 1087 Beacon Inn with its charming vintage interior and beautiful surroundings, but the cleanliness of the shower could be improved.

Shower curtain smelled like pee. Air conditioner smelled like wet dog. Nice place, but those issues detract from the room.

This place was very dirty. When we arrived our room was not clean. The bed was slept in and u made and there was rotten food in garbage. I would not recommend staying here.

The Beacon Inn is a lovely old row house property. Check-in was easy, and the woman at the front desk was kind and helpful. My room was lovely, spacious, and clean.

I really wanted to love this place— I love old buildings. However, too many things were wrong to visit again. The young lady on staff tried to fix one of the issues, but it created other problems. Parking was ridiculous—not the $33 but that I had to be wedged between two other cars, and it was understood I couldn’t move my car during my stay. The first room I was in had not been cleaned well. The bathroom was really dirty—shower, toilet & sink. One of the beds was slightly disheveled. The young lady moved me across the hall to a much smaller room with a “private” bathroom across the hall. Unfortunately, the other guests didn’t read the sign. The mattress in the new room felt like a stuffed paper bag. The room had all the necessities (bed,light,TV) but was so tiny that the bed was pushed up against the window, so all night I heard every drunken conversation yelled 3 floors below AND the T passing by. When I left my room in the morning, there were multiple balls of dirty linens all over the small floor space on the 3rd floor landing, blocking my door and my across-the-hall bathroom. The floor was dirty in every room I was in— not old, but dirty.The two ladies that checked me in and out were very kind, and there was a continental breakfast of bagels and croissants and cereal and coffee, which was nice. The outside of the building was very pretty, but again, somebody dropped a bag of dog poop right in front of the building. Cleanliness is an important factor— inside and out!

Lots of hair on the bed sheets, pillows and some under the sheets.. also hair on the floor.. was pretty gross! Mattress seemed to be slanted and quite old and very squeaky. Trip ended up costing more than quoted on Hotels.com.. got charged additional tax not quoted in price from Hotels.com. Food/ coffee in the morning was nice, staff was helpful.

The rooms are large and wonderful - the hotel is sumptuous - rooms are far larger than they appear online - all around gorgeous !

Do not like that the bathroom is a few steps outside of room down the hall. I asked to switch and was unable.

The room okay for single. You have to carry your luggage and take the stair climbing to the fourth floor found WiFi connection but NO INTERNET.. called service but no response.

At best, it's a good and convenient location. But the house is old and run down. The T runs in front and is noisy. And it smells musty.

I was on the first floor facing Beacon st and the noise from the trains and cars is bad until late at night. Also no control over the AC or heat. Lastly they did not tell me that there is no breakfast on the weekends. Breakfast during the week was not what I would have expected. Sub par.

Charming, but 1) 4 floors, no elevator 2) they forgot to put towels in my room and no one at front desk in am to help. arghh! 3) microfiber sheets 4) generally worn out

The property was better than expected and the most affordable in the area. Convenient to the t and to Fenway park. Staff was more than accommodating. Will stay here again when in the area.

The room was dusty and the bathroom was unclean. There were feces on the underside of the toilet seat and no washcloths were provided so we had to use hand towels. I registered a complaint on the day we checked out and again two days later. The manager refused to call me back. I also paid $81 for overnight parking offsite because I booked through Expedia and not directly with the property (per a staff member).

They were very accommodating and helpful with an early check in, so no complaints.

There was no front desk staff in the morning. I was not provided wifi access information on arrival.

No one there to check us in. No way to adjust heat in room

We stayed 9 days and had a horrible experience, recommend stay away! Property: 1. Old building not functional as an inn: no elevator and no help carrying luggage (up to 4 floors). 2. Room 7 has window AC unit attached using tape with holes: you will hear every sound on the busy street all the time, which makes sleep nearly impossible, we bought sleep-aid to rest a few hours per night. 3. Detached bathroom is across the hall (at least 20 steps), extremely inconvenient and no privacy, the room next to the bathroom hears everything. 4. Bathroom was extremely dirty (photo for brown bathmat), very specific way to operate the shower head and little control of water temperature. 5. Entire property smelled moldy and the room walls filled with sticky brown grease spots (photo). Management: 1. Front desk quality varies drastically, staff often forgot to change our bedsheets, we did everything ourselves - highly unprofessional. 2. Rude and dismissive: we expressed concerns regarding hygiene and noise after the first night and asked for room change or cancellation, but management refused to discuss anything and deducted the total payment without our consent. When expedia called to help, they repeatedly hung up the phone and David from management accused us of being "thieves who steal their services". *We are deeply thankful to expedia, certain staff members (Julie, Enoelia) who helped us duct tape the window. Would've moved elsewhere asap if not for inavailability nearby.

Julie was excellent. She went out of her way to be helpful, curteous, and friendly. We would go back because of her.

Affordable and close to transportation

Location is brilliant. Only a 16 minute walk to Fenway park. Public transport right across the street. Neighborhood is extremely safe!! Would book again.

Lovely place to call "home" when spending time in Boston. This is an older property so expect neat, clean and comfortable charm as opposed to all modern updates. The location is right on the T line with many choices of restaurants within an easy and safe walk.

Loved it. Close to Fenway, we walked and felt safe, and unique accommodations. I’d definitely stay here again!!

Cozy room, exactly as pictured. Tea and snacks in the equally entrance area downstairs. Small outdoor area with a table, and a lovely Tatte cafe with outdoor seating down the street.

It was a lovely antique inn and I really liked it! The floors creaked when I walked and the shower was a little weak, but I enjoyed that as well. I'd like to stay here again when I come to Boston. The only thing I was disappointed about was that the drinking water and tea bags ran out in the middle of the night.

We had a very nice big room in a brownstone with comfy beds. There were fresh croissants and muffins for breakfast. The location was perfect for our overnight stay.

Funky hotel with an amazing location. While not the lap of luxury, it is generally clean and comfortable. The staff are nice and a light breakfast is provided. Location is steps from the T and Fenway park (if baseball is your thing). Also close to BU. Lots of walkable dining options.

Nice inn. Friendly staff. Great morning coffee and continental breakfast in lobby. Cool room with amazingly large tv. Lots if apps for entertainment. Bathroom is a little weird with step up into it but clean and functional. No temp control. Too warm at first but with closed vents and window open I was able to find a good temperature for the night. Very cold night was not a problem at all. Excellent and charming place reasonably priced. Will definitely go back.

Convenient location, great & friendly staff. Rooms are clean & well stocked! Lobby complimentary bites & coffee are a treat. Old charm with modern amenities. Highly recommend & will return.

The breakfast was not continental as described. We had to ask for napkins to be provided. The bathroom in the room wasn’t working, and it was very noisy.
