Stunning venue, great wine and easy transport from Pinhão station. Did the wine tasting and had a massage service. Both great experiences. Only minor issue was the limited food options, although one night the buffet included a BBQ which went down well.

This hotel is very nice. The views from our room on the upper terrace were amazing. However, with that came the long steep walk up and down to get to the “bar” or restaurant. The room was very clean and ac worked great. You need to ask at the front desk if you want a hot pot and instant coffee for the room. The walls are kind of thin and we had a very loud group in the room next to us one night. The bar really is not a bar. It is a couple of booths in the corner of the restaurant behind a few curtains. The breakfast was very good. The food in the “bar” was just okay. Did not have the dinner buffet. With that being said we would definitely stay here again.

Een hotel boven op de heuvel rondom in de wijngaarden. Een bijzondere locatie waar de service hoog in het vaandel staat. Alles klopt voor een fijn verblijf. Elk plateau waar de hoelkamers liggen, is bereikbaar via trappen. Mijn partner is slecht ter been, maar dit was geen probleem. Het hotel bood de service door een soort golfkarretje als transfer op basis van oproep. Top service.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Booked us a wine tasting and tour at check in. Recommended restaurants in the area. Breakfast buffet was delicious, lots of fresh food choices and an omelette station. Great pool area with breathtaking views of the Douro River. Comfy sun loungers. Our room was clean and spacious. Only downside was a lot of steps up and down from our room to the restaurant and pool. Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

Ponto positivo: localização com a vista mais bonita do Douro. Estrutura do hotel com quartos muito confortáveis e limpos. Pontos negativos: piscinas não aquecidas o que impossibilita seu uso; poucas pessoas no Staff, não oferece serviço de quarto, checkout muito demorado pois só havia uma pessoa na recepção, não há quem ajude com malas. O mais decepcionante foi o restaurante que não oferece opções a lá carte. Somente buffet e com higiene muito a desejar pois haviam MOSCAS, sobre a comida exposta do buffet. Não tive coragem de consumir nada no restaurante e tive que sair do hotel pra fazer as refeições.

The property was set back with a beautiful view overlooking the winery and Duoro Valley. Accommodations were large with a nice deck. The bed was uncomfortable but we were only staying one night. The restaurants included a buffet which we went to to for breakfast and for one drink as well as a sit down dinner restaurant. The service at the reserved dinner was subpar. Our waiter was tending to a table of six and focused on that table much of our visit. Never coming over to see how our meal was or if we wanted or needed anything. Probably the worst service we have ever received in a supposedly fine dining environment. At check in the front desk personelle never explained the winery reservations are required and that there is only specific times for English speaking tours. We arrived at 3:00pm and the English tour was only at 3:30pm that day and that information would have been beneficial and appreciated. Even a letter or pamphlet expressing this info would be helpful. We went down to the winery and asked to do a taste in gas guests of the hotel and they said we can’t so that. Our options were a 4:30 Portuguese speaking tour or the next day at 10:30am. We couldn’t even order a glass of wine at the winery. We were told to go to the buffet to order wine. Very disappointing as a guest. We decided to partake in the Portuguese speaking tour. All in all we would go back for the view only the rest needs much improvement.

Skøn vingård med fantastisk udsigt. Personalet gjorde alt hvad de kunne for at vi skulle føle os godt tilpas. Værelserne var rummelige og rengøring var i top. Det var i særklasse en god oplevelse at være på dette hotel, som vi meget gerne kommer tilbage til.

Property is beautiful. They definitely embellish their amenities though. The food is buffet style with plenty of microwave style pizza and refrigerated fish nuggets. We left the property for food and wine options. The rooms are clean but small and decor resembles a 1970’s Burger King. It’s really a tale of two places… Not terrible, but would not return or recommend. Especially when every other Quinta has beautiful views as well.

It was really incredible experience. Everything about this place exceeded our expectations. Staff was very professional and attentive, rooms were cleaned every day to the highest standard, breakfast and dinner were great.

Quarto com cheiro horrivel (provavelmente proveniente dos ralos do banheiro). O mesmo cheiro encontrado em algumas outras áreas do hotel. Ar condicionado barulhento (manutenção foi verificar, mas continuou o barulho!) Chuveiro ruim. Restaurante (meia pensão/jantar) parece um restaurante de quilo ruim. A única coisa boa é a localização. Péssimo custo/benefício (caro para o atendimento e qualidade da acomodação).

This was without doubt the worst stay of our 8 hotel tour around Portugal. Although the staff work really hard to make things as good as possible, the hotel is fundamentally bad. Our room (suite) was really smelly, it was as though there was an open sewer in either the toilet or shower area. There were huge deep scratches in the flooring. The toilet cubicle door did not shut fully, offering no privacy. Only 1/2 of the lights in the bedroom worked and could not be fixed during our stay. The bed/bedding itself was also the worst quality of our week long stay. The bed was hard and had a waterproof topper immediately below the thin sheet - making for a sweaty sticky nights sleep. The pillows are very low quality, cheap high fill polyester or similar. All pillows seemed the same, so no choice available. The site itself was well maintained but again, seemed to miss the mark. Everything is pretty much served in the dining room. The bar was shut. The hotel is part of a larger corporate chain. There are no paper menus or information available but instead guests are referred to some horrendous app - as if people want to stare at smartphones constantly on holiday! The menus in the app are confusing and hard to navigate (the app contains menus and info for the whole hotel chain). Dinner buffet was good (when it opened at 1900). Breakfast was disappointing, bad coffee, juice from concentrate; the omelettes were the saving grace. Avoid the place at all costs

I’ll start with the good parts… the pool areas/ pool views and views from the room… amazing! Staff at front desk were also very nice. Otherwise some serious issues with the restaurant staff almost ruined the trip and we were not alone. Other customers were also clearly upset. This wasn’t even just bad Portuguese service, it was no service. We just wanted a glass of wine at the hotel restaurant after our long drive (we did tell the front of house staff). We left and drove 15 mins into Pinhau instead for a late lunch and picked up our own things for dinner in the room from the town. Lovely to sit outside on the balcony at night though. The bathroom toilet room has a glass door that didn’t really close and you can hear everything in the bathroom.. so no privacy. You can’t turn off the outdoor light on the patio so that was annoying too. No cofffee machine or even a kettle in the room. The only place Ive stayed on my trip without one. We couldn’t get in for a wine tasting even for hotel guests and then couldn’t get served on the patio. Finally the restaurant is like a cafeteria. Lots of hard surfaces. Noisy. Good breakfast. Lots of options. Hanging by the pool was lovely but its not heated so we didn’t go in. Thankfully we only stayed one night. I wouldn’t be back.
I’ll start with the good parts… the pool areas/ pool views and views from the room… amazing! Staff at front desk were also very nice. We left and drove 15 mins into Pinhau instead for a late lunch and picked up our own things for dinner in the room from the town. Lovely to sit outside on the balcony at night though. The bathroom toilet room has a glass door that didn’t really close and you can hear everything in the bathroom.. so no privacy. You can’t turn off the outdoor light on the patio so that was annoying too. No cofffee machine or even a kettle in the room. The only place Ive stayed on my trip without one. Beautiful location! The hotel room itself is a little older and there was no robes or ironing board, just the basics. Bed was a little hard but for one night it was fine. I wouldn’t stay longer than 2 nights.

This hotel is very nice. The views from our room on the upper terrace were amazing. However, with that came the long steep walk up and down to get to the “bar” or restaurant. The room was very clean and ac worked great. You need to ask at the front desk if you want a hot pot and instant coffee for the room. The walls are kind of thin and we had a very loud group in the room next to us one night. The bar really is not a bar. It is a couple of booths in the corner of the restaurant behind a few curtains. The breakfast was very good. The food in the “bar” was just okay. Did not have the dinner buffet. With that being said we would definitely stay here again.

At check-in was told that the winery was open until 6:30pm; but then they called me at 6pm to tell me they were mistaken and it was closed already. The room required going 4 flights of stairs to access. The room was freezing when we arrived as the heat was completely off even though it was 4 degrees Celsius outside. The restaurant is 500 meters from the room and most guests used the car to go there. There were no premium wines available by the glass even though the hotel is at a winery. I would not recommend this hotel.

The property was set back with a beautiful view overlooking the winery and Duoro Valley. Accommodations were large with a nice deck. The bed was uncomfortable but we were only staying one night. The restaurants included a buffet which we went to to for breakfast and for one drink as well as a sit down dinner restaurant. The service at the reserved dinner was subpar. Our waiter was tending to a table of six and focused on that table much of our visit. Never coming over to see how our meal was or if we wanted or needed anything. Probably the worst service we have ever received in a supposedly fine dining environment. At check in the front desk personelle never explained the winery reservations are required and that there is only specific times for English speaking tours. We arrived at 3:00pm and the English tour was only at 3:30pm that day and that information would have been beneficial and appreciated. Even a letter or pamphlet expressing this info would be helpful. We went down to the winery and asked to do a taste in gas guests of the hotel and they said we can’t so that. Our options were a 4:30 Portuguese speaking tour or the next day at 10:30am. We couldn’t even order a glass of wine at the winery. We were told to go to the buffet to order wine. Very disappointing as a guest. We decided to partake in the Portuguese speaking tour. All in all we would go back for the view only the rest needs much improvement.

The vineyard is truly beautiful. The scenery is outstanding and really adds the the luxurious feeling of this hotel. The bed was enormous, it was like having a whole double bed each. The food selection on breakfast and evening was good and not overly expensive. The only complaint would be the wait time on drinks by the pool, there was only one staff member to make drinks and sort food orders so we were often waiting a long time for drinks. This was pacified by having two pools to cool off in and lounge by. I’d absolutely stay again.

This is a very nice property and our room was adequate. It is on several levels, which makes walking difficult. The view would normally be gorgeous but we had the misfortune of a rainy day. Certainly not the hotels fault. There was confusion on check-in though and the staff needs a little further instruction. They all seemed very confused. Overall a very nice hotel. I also really enjoyed the tour of the wine cellar.

Everyone was welcoming and helpful during our stay. The front desk set up a wine tour and a restaurant reservation for us, which we appreciated. The view from the room was lovely. A coffee option in the room would have been nice, but the breakfast buffet opens at 8 and had many options. The dinner buffet was convenient for a late night arrival.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Booked us a wine tasting and tour at check in. Recommended restaurants in the area. Breakfast buffet was delicious, lots of fresh food choices and an omelette station. Great pool area with breathtaking views of the Douro River. Comfy sun loungers. Our room was clean and spacious. Only downside was a lot of steps up and down from our room to the restaurant and pool. Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

Quite remote, had to taxi everywhere, quite expensive to get to villages 30-40 Euros one-way. No face cloths, no body lotion, no facial tissues, vanity kits. Dining room was over 600 meters away. From our room it was 114 stairs to breakfast room. Area and property was beautiful, views spectacular. We expected to hike to different vineyards but was only offered one hike to the top of the mountain to a village with no amenities. Walked down to the main highway but could not walk any further because there were no highway shoulders. We came to hike but really could not.

Property is beautiful. They definitely embellish their amenities though. The food is buffet style with plenty of microwave style pizza and refrigerated fish nuggets. We left the property for food and wine options. The rooms are clean but small and decor resembles a 1970’s Burger King. It’s really a tale of two places… Not terrible, but would not return or recommend. Especially when every other Quinta has beautiful views as well.

Quarto com cheiro horrivel (provavelmente proveniente dos ralos do banheiro). O mesmo cheiro encontrado em algumas outras áreas do hotel. Ar condicionado barulhento (manutenção foi verificar, mas continuou o barulho!) Chuveiro ruim. Restaurante (meia pensão/jantar) parece um restaurante de quilo ruim. A única coisa boa é a localização. Péssimo custo/benefício (caro para o atendimento e qualidade da acomodação).

We enjoyed everything about Vila Gale. The one area which was a bit lacking was the buffet dinner. We would have probably enjoyed the A La Carte menu more. The stewed beef was not very tender and aside from the beef dish and the salmon in puff pastry, there wasn’t much other choice. My husband had the pasta which was good but again, the choices of vegetables, etc to add to the pasta were limited. Otherwise, we very much enjoyed our stay at Vila Gale and were very impressed with the view.

My husband had the pasta which was good but again, the choices of vegetables, etc to add to the pasta were limited. Otherwise, we very much enjoyed our stay at Vila Gale and were very impressed with the view.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Booked us a wine tasting and tour at check in. Recommended restaurants in the area. Breakfast buffet was delicious, lots of fresh food choices and an omelette station. Great pool area with breathtaking views of the Douro River. Comfy sun loungers. Our room was clean and spacious. Only downside was a lot of steps up and down from our room to the restaurant and pool. Not ideal for anyone with mobility issues.

Hotel novo é lindo. O problema são as escadarias para acessar restaurante, piscinas e estacionamento. Café da manhã muito bom, mas o jantar ( sistema de meia pensão) muito ruim.

Ponto positivo: localização com a vista mais bonita do Douro. Estrutura do hotel com quartos muito confortáveis e limpos. Pontos negativos: piscinas não aquecidas o que impossibilita seu uso; poucas pessoas no Staff, não oferece serviço de quarto, checkout muito demorado pois só havia uma pessoa na recepção, não há quem ajude com malas. O mais decepcionante foi o restaurante que não oferece opções a lá carte. Somente buffet e com higiene muito a desejar pois haviam MOSCAS, sobre a comida exposta do buffet. Não tive coragem de consumir nada no restaurante e tive que sair do hotel pra fazer as refeições.

Die Aussicht vom Zimmer auf den Douro war sehr schön, Preis Leistung passte für uns eher nicht. Das Personal im Restaurant und Frühstückraum war freundlich, aber es erinnert alles ein wenig an Massentourismus. Es gab auch keinen Begrüssungsdrink und keine Kaffemaschine auf dem Zimmer. Das hatten wir in allen anderen Hotels in Portugal und diese Zimmer kosteten nur die Hälfte und waren um einiges grösser!

A propriedade fica num morro e os quartos são conectados por escadarias. Portanto, não é adequada para quem tenha mobilidade reduzida. A acústica entre os quartos deixa a desejar. Infelizmente fomos vizinhos de um casal que discutia em voz alta até tarde da noite.

The view from this hotel is truly spectacular and without a doubt deserves five stars. Waking up to such breathtaking scenery was the highlight of our stay. Unfortunately, the hotel itself did not live up to its advertised four-star standard. The property feels dated and worn, with several areas in need of renovation. The breakfast and restaurant offerings were disappointing, lacking both variety and quality. Service was also very inconsistent—some staff members were friendly and attentive, while others seemed uninterested and unhelpful. Overall, if you’re looking for an unforgettable view, this hotel certainly delivers. However, apart from the scenery, the overall experience felt much closer to a three-star hotel than a four-star one.
