Funky Monk Hotel

The hotel and bar were lovely; the only thing to mention was the live music in the bar was incredibly loud from the bedroom but if you don’t need an early night on Friday or Saturday it’s a lovely place to stay. By chance, I only interacted with Lily on the staff all weekend and she was attentive, accommodating and very friendly throughout my stay. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the funky monk. It’s a very convenient location with good access to the central line. The staff were very friendly. This is our new place to stay when we are in Essex.

Very welcoming and friendly staff. Offered us a welcome drink which was lovely and we could use our rooms to drop our items as they had already been cleaned which was very helpful as we were in the area for a wedding. The amenities and room were great and bed was very comfortable. We were told that there would be live music until 11.30 and drinks available downstairs in the bar until 1pm but weren’t made aware of the loud music that would be playing which did continue until 1:30pm - we were staying on a Saturday night so am sure this wouldn’t be the case if staying on other days. We arrived back late from the wedding anyway but I wish we had been aware of this prior to booking as I had to stay awake for a good hour until the music was turned off. I would recommend staying here but if you don’t want to be involved in the late night music, it would be best to stay here outside of Friday and Saturday night.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing stay at the Funky Monk Epping Hotel and Restaurant. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with a complimentary welcome drink, which was a lovely touch. The room was absolutely amazing; comfortable, stylish, and spotless. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome the entire time. The restaurant was outstanding, the food was unreal and easily one of the highlights of our stay. Everything was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. We couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend the Funky Monk for both accommodation and dining. We’ll definitely be back!
