We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Counting House! The room was clean and modern and the pub is gorgeous. We fell in love with the vintage charm of the building! Breakfast was delicious and something we looked forward to each morning. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The elevator is TIGHT and a bit slow but you’re on vacation, so no rush or just take the stairs. Location is safe and very convenient to the sites and public transit (bus stop right outside). Highly recommend!

The Counting House rooms are very sizable which I was impressed with. AC worked very well which was wonderful. Very quiet rooms and decent amenities. Also great to have the pub right next door- breakfast included in the morning and it was a great spread. Staff is very kind. Elevator was very problematic during our stay which was unfortunate because there are a lot of stairs to go up (my older parents had a difficult time with it- wouldn’t have been as big of an issue if I were traveling solo). The bed was ok but the sheets themselves were quite rough (I’ve never had skin issues with bedding before but I did leave with skin irritation on my body - not clear whether it’s from cleaning products they use or what led to this). Overall I’d recommend as a nice spacious and quiet option convenient to Bank street tube station and all the sightseeing!

Bar and common spaces in photos were closed. We were disappointed after seeing photos of wonderful spaces we had no access too. The hotel is in a great location and room itself was a decent size and well kept. Would have liked to know the bar/common spaces in the photos were not available prior to booking.

Charming and cool yet quirky Hotel. The entrance through a narrow hall and a super slow lift is unimpressing. But the room was fantastic. Great location and friendly staff. Will come back next time I have business in London

Older building that served its purpose. Great staff and everything was very clean. The elevator was tiny and we didn’t have any view out of our window, which was about my only complaint. We had the greatest bartender at the pub, who also helped with breakfast. Her name is Kimberly and she deserves a raise! So sweet and helped us celebrate my mom’s birthday during our stay. Would recommend! Small but convenient, area around the hotel was pretty ritzy.

My wife and I were very impressed with the Counting House. It’s a quant, no frills boutique hotel with a really cool pub on the bottom level and large rooms. We’ve stayed at a few more traditional, big brand hotels thus far on our trip and this one was easily our favorite. If you prefer a hotel with amenities (gym, spa, etc.) this place wouldn’t be for you but if you’re looking for a nice room, with easy access to sights of London and the Underground, I’d recommend the Counting House…just make sure you’re okay with a fair number of stairs. There’s an elevator but it’s small and slow moving. We only used it for our luggage.

Not a typical hotel in a great way with very comfortable rooms with character. Bed was very comfortable and room was exceptionally clean. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices to suit varied diets. Really nice staff. Location was excellent. Easy access to a few tube stations. Nice safe neighborhood.

Room was clean , bed comfortable with lovely touches like complimentary cold drinks , water and tea and coffee. Free breakfast was amazing would definitely book again. Location was central and only a very short walk to the underground.

We visited the Counting House for a three night stay. I’ve given the review five stars namely because the staff were fab. The room was spacious with everything you needed. Breakfast in the morning was great with excellent choices. Located within a short walk to St Paul’s and Millenium Bridge easy access to tubes to get to where you need to be. My criticism comes from a couple of niggles, namely noise! We stayed in the Angel room which is located next to the courtyard. Single glazed windows meant it felt like you sat next to the people socialising below. A wake up call at 6.50am by window cleaning was also an unnecessary wake up call Cleaning in the room needs to be stepped up, dirty bedside tables with cup stays and dusty surfaces just need some attention to detail. Biggest bug bare is paying to stay somewhere when the bathroom needs a good scrub! Just clean the grout- no excuses!

Beautiful, historic building. Reception was excellent, breakfast good, room very nice but tired in places, location great for exploring the City of London. The only negative was that housekeeping in the room was a bit hit and miss. On arrival the carpet appeared not to have been vacuumed, the safe was unusable and had to be reset by reception and one of the water glasses was removed and not replaced. But overall an enjoyable stay.

First time here, needed somewhere close for work, which this was :). Very friendly check-in lady, always great dealing with such a positive person - thank you. The room was a nice size, the fridge had provisions and the coffer was of good standard. The bathroom clean and well kept, however the water in the shower was reluctant to drain, having to stop a couple of times till the level reduced before fully rinsing everything. Out of control of the hotel - Other guests and outside noise - due to the hours I work, I like to get to bed early-ish, however still at gone 11pm the guests (with children) were making enough noise to disturb, additionally as the building is so old, most things are connected to each other, the table in the room (glass top) rattled due to the neighbours movements - Would I stay here again? I only stayed here this time due to convenience, I may well give it another go at some point, but wont be rushing to come back

Rudely awakened by a window cleaner at 5.50am! Guy on Reception was not even apologetic- what hotel has someone cleaning windows at that time in the morning! Great breakfast and service staff as normal 2 bottles of old milk in the fridge so housekeeping need to up their game

We enjoyed our stay at Counting House immensely. It's the quietest hotel in an urban setting I've ever experienced! Our room was on the first floor just above the pub. On the night of the Euro Cup final, where everyone was cheering and screaming and singing (and ultimately crying, sorry England), we heard absolutely nothing in our room. Amazing! Lovely, friendly reception and pub staff. Great location, very clean room, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast. I especially loved both the English breakfast and the avocado-chili sourdough with poached eggs.

The welcome from the member of staff wasn't great. The bed was uncomfortable with a really lumpy mattress. The breakfast wasn't good either. Over all it was just an OK stay but I wouldn't return or recommend to anyone unfortunately. For £570 for two nights, I expect a comfy bed, warm welcome and decent breakfast.

Beautiful view with robes and nice coffee station. Way more roomy than expected. High end toiletries and bedding and very comfortable beds. Super close to tourist destinations and/or public transport. Staff very accommodating for my spouses severe allergy. We really enjoyed our stay.

Was only a brief one night stay but we were very impressed with the room (florin), the size and decor in particular. The bathroom was also a very good size with both a bath and separate shower. In our opinion, the room put other hotels to shame. The included breakfast served in the attached pub was also very enjoyable (particularly the black pudding, sausages and the creamy scrambled egg). Staff were very friendly. Location was good for us.

This hotel is very conveniently located for the most popular sight seeing and attractions vof visitors. Room was very clean, bed is big and comfortable. The only thing we did not like , that our room windows were both looking over the backyard of the hotel , where very big and noisy fun- extractor was working. In a warm day you wont be able to open the windows. There is a aircon in the room though. Breakfast was really tasty and good quality. We thought it was a good value hotel for the money we paid.

This was a lovely hotel in an historic converted bank building. It is in a safe and well connected area with tube and bus services within five minutes, plus St Paul’s Cathedral and other sites are within walking distance. The room was well designed and equipped. The pub below is a large gorgeous space with the elegant features of the bank preserved. But the absolute best thing about our stay was the friendly and very helpful staff. We will certainly stay there again when in London.

Don’t do it. I booked months in advance and paid in full and when I arrived they didn’t have the room available that I booked and put me in a lower quality room. I requested to speak to the manager on several occasions but they never took the time to speak with me.

My wife and I plus friends had an absolutely great stay at the counting house! Very quiet part of town! Lauren was wonderful for advice and very accommodating to help us get checked in and allowed us to store luggage. She was amazing!

Great find. Rooms A1. Staff so helpful. Room was ready so allowed to check in a little early and bags stored on checkout for later pick up. Breakfast was great start to the morning. Good location for tube, buses or just walk. Will definitely go again. Great value for money in the city location.

Early morning fire alarm. Mass confusion, nobody at reception. Elevator not designed to work during fire. Stairs partially blocked with construction materials. Was no fire, but nobody knew what was going on. Terrible communication

I was concerned that when I was concerned about my safety nobody answered to any of the 4 extensions. Reception was suppose to be 24hrs. You were left to your own devices. The tv was so old that you only had access to Freeview and still had the option of teletext

We really enjoyed our bank holiday weekend stay at the Counting House. Our family room as ideal for the 4 of us, very clean, excellent facilities and nice to have a separate entrance for the hotel so we didn't have to trail through the pub. About a 15 minute walk from Liverpool Street Station, so pretty nicely located and 5 minutes from Bank Underground Station to get out and about in London. Excellent breakfast and staff were very nice and helpful. Highly recommended for a family weekend in the capital.

We loved the history and how the hotel was modernized in a way that valued and maintained its history. The morning breakfast was always a nice way to start our day and sustain us until a late lunch/early dinner. The two women we interacted with at reception were always friendly and accommodating, as was the housekeeping crew. There isn’t a lot of touristy things to do, as it is in the old banking district. We were there for 2 weekends, and there wasn’t much open. However, we enjoyed the quieter setting, and there were tube stations within a 3-9 min walk.

Lift to 2nd floor to reception where we were greeting by a member of staff (all friendly) and given directions to our room which was nicely furnished with modern fittings. The bed was soft and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was well fitted out with a nice shower although the room was sorely lacking any kind of air filter which meant that any smells could tend to linger. Housekeeping was generally outstanding. The main gripe we had was with the breakfast which seemed perfunctory in its choice and poor in execution. The bacon and sausage was really poor quality and had obviously been hanging around for a while in the kitchen. The black pudding was rock hard, although the scrambled eggs were good. There was little choice otherwise. The coffee in an urn was cold and insipid. Having a mediocre extra choice of coffee cost an extra £3+ Good choice of teas. I’d suggest leaving the in-house breakfast and going to McDonalds. This is a shame as we generally enjoyed our stay. Its location is good for public transport being close to Bank, Monument and Bank tubes. It took us 30mins to travel to Trafalgar Square and 10mins to London Bridge. Would definitely return, just not for the breakfast.

After staying in Kensington, I decided to stay in the center of London, THE CITY, the Roman original. This hotel is in the heart of it all: close to the Tower, the Monument, the Bank, the Thames. It's above a gorgeous old pub (excellent breakfast included) and the room (Florin) is both spacious and quiet!

The property has been considerately restored and is situated in a convenient area for access to the heart of the city. However, the entrance to the hotel is not obvious from the roadside and the pub is very lively. So, if you are looking for peace and quite you may need to dine out. The food whilst very nice is extremely overpriced.

Great boutique hotel which was a welcome change from the larger chain hotels in London. It is part of a group itself but is more a pub with rooms and the pub itself has lots of atmosphere. Room and shower room were modern and really well finished. Breakfast was included which was a bonus, and was really good quality. Location in the city was exceptional. We would definitely book again.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. However, we will not be staying there again. Unfortunately the staff in the bar area were rather surly whilst the staff in the breakfast room just couldn’t get our menu requests right. The bar areas were extremely busy and very loud after 5pm - unfortunately there were no other areas for overnight guests to go to relax. It is also a huge inconvenience that taxi cabs are severely restricted along Cornhill. This necessitates taking buses or underground - rather tricky with suitcases, carry-on bags, backpacks etc. In our case we found out about the taxi restrictions through bitter experience! Never again, thank you. Just not worth it…

Not a typical hotel in a great way with very comfortable rooms with character. Bed was very comfortable and room was exceptionally clean. Bar and common spaces in photos were closed. We were disappointed after seeing photos of wonderful spaces we had no access too. In our opinion, the room put other hotels to shame. The included breakfast served in the attached pub was also very enjoyable (particularly the black pudding, sausages and the creamy scrambled egg). Our room at the hotel was fantastic. We loved the decor and how spacious the room was. All the staff we met were very friendly and welcoming. We had dinner in the pub downstairs which was really nice and the breakfast had a great selection to choose from. We will definitely stay here again when visiting London.

Good location if you need to work or do things in the area. Hotel room is clean and modern. Comfy bed. Just an issue I had, the bar/resturant of hotel doesn’t have food late at night when they are still open. Nearest place, a 10min walk
