It’s like it’s still in the old days old blankets bed u could feel the springs in it . towels had dirt on them cob webs in the light . Nobody there to greet u key left with a piece of paper . No breakfast all doors were locked to the bar no dinners on . All holiday not good at all . Didn’t stay two days as car broke down and had to be taken home so waiting to see if I get a refund for the one night we didn’t stay…

The whole appearance was of a hotel that was closing down. There was nobody at reception. The man that was tending the gardens opened the door and let us in telling us the keys were on the desk. There were two bars, both locked. In one there was a sign saying to use the other bar as this one is not in use. It appeared that the place had been in this state for some time!! We had booked bed and breakfast (inclusive) but were told they were not doing food. He said he could arrange breakfast at a cost of £10 each!! He was extremely incommunicative and unhelpful. There was a sign on the back of the door saying that there was no room service if you were staying more than one day. It also told us that there was extra tea/coffee/milk on a table in reception. There wasn't. The heat in reception was like that in a sauna, and the lighting was never on. The rooms were very tired with work needing doing to them. It was a most unenjoyable experience and I feel that we have been lured there under false pretences. I won't be going back again and will consider not using Hotels.com again. If anybody was asking whether to use the Abbey Grange Hotel I would advise them to find somewhere else.

Everything was closed when we got there 8pm, the bar, restaurant and reception. The person there didn’t seem very interested in even dealing with us. Signs everywhere telling us what we could not do. No food in the rooms, good job we had stopped and got some food, which we took to our room, regardless on the 6 or more signs forbidding this practice. As I said every thing was closed. Decor was as old and very tired. The bed was so hard it was like trying to sleep on a snooker table. The hot water was lukewarm. The best thing I can say is it seemed to be clean.

Th hotel has 90’s decor a mix of poor styles, no breakfast and shut the bar early although staff drinking just not the public. Photo on websites made me think I was getting something better your not. Mouse in hallway’s and in bedroom I had to remove it.

The hotel is in a fantastic and beautiful location. It was a bit tired and the Family room was chintzy. Our shower didn’t get anywhere near warm and the towels were clean but rough. The hotel bar closed at 9:30 on a Friday night. The cost was relatively high but didn’t include a breakfast and was too far outside Llangollen to walk.

The hotel is a bit out of town and very peaceful. Lovely view of the hills. Checkin was friendly and welcoming. Room was rather bland and slightly 1970s, but clean and well kept. Most importantly it was warm a comfortable and I got a good night’s sleep. The bar closed very early which was a shame as I’d arranged to meet a friend at 9pm but by then all was in darkness. I would have liked to try the £10 breakfast but had already arranged to eat elsewhere. All in all, a good value stay in a beautiful location. I’d be very happy to return.

This looks like it used to be a super spot but is now sadly rather run down. There is no one to great you, just a key with a note saying your room number. Despite a board outside advertising fish and chips, the bar/restaurant were both closed when we were there. The room was very dated with an avocado bathroom suite, a radiator on full blast that you couldn't turn off (middle of summer) a hot tap that doesn't turn on and a cold tap that runs hot brown water before coming through clear! However, the room was a good size and very clean, with plenty of fluffy white towels and heavy curtains that kept the light out in the early morning. For the one night that we needed it, it was fine, but I probably wouldn't stay for any length of time as there are no amenities close by so you have to drive for anything you need, breakfast, dinner etc.

Rated as 3 star. I arrived and there was a note with my room number and a key. I rang the hotel to see whether I could book dinner and breakfast the following morning. I was abruptly told no, it was room only, albeit there was a sign at the hotel entrance advertising breakfast. There wasn’t even a bar there. The room was adequate, but in dire need of an update. However, the lack of any amenities makes me question the 3 star rating and why Expedia have listed this misleading description on their website. I book all my trips with Expedia and have never had any problems until this week.

*Says 4 minute walk to llangollen but its more like a 45 minute walk *broken glass on bathroom floor, fire alarm going off through the night, was told by staff at checkin at 4pm that food had stopped being served yet an hour later they were serving another couple wit food, room was so dusty and dirty very old and dated, also was advertising breakfast yet no one was there the next morning to do breakfast. Only good thing about this hotel was thr stunning views across rhr countryside.. not worth £70 a night

Beautiful setting. Woke up to the cows mooing. Decor dated and pleasant. Many cobwebs in the room, light shade and ceiling and walls. Warm, cosy and TV available. Tea and coffee in the room. A biscuit or 2 may have been a nice welcome after a long day. Value for money. Pleasant and friendly staff.

Most positive comment I can say is, the water was hot.. Bed was Way too soft :-(, pillows hard, carpet sticky, when kettle boils it steams the tv, no reception as such - just a row of keys with names written on paper under them. The bar looked like a cross between deliverance, an old folks home and someone's front room. Place looked kinda derelict as we drove up to it. WiFi was also slower than dial up. But there was plenty of hot water for a bath, so not all bad. Needless to say, wont be going back soon..

Very picturesque, great location and views but very dirty, had to clean the bath before it could be used as was grimy and full of hair, clearly hadn’t even been rinsed. Bed linen was spotless and bed comfy though

Very clean, calm area, kettle, tea and coffee in the room, enough towels. But the postcode was incorrect, hotel reception didn’t answer phone to guide me. They were not allowing food in the room.

I arrived very late, approx 10.30pm i think but did call twice to explain - i was in an uktra bike race from France thst went through Llangollen. I asked for a quick snack or food but was almost laughed at. I was allowed to buy a bag of crisps. I needed to charge my cycling computer and asked to borrow a plug sat on the bar but was, no. Room was dirty and full of flies and midges. No breakfast either so when i left i was starving. The owners don't sleep there so it's more like a hostel. I rarely complain and have never completed an App Q, bu this is the worst hotel ive ever stayed at

Location near to Llangollen is good but surrounding restaurants were closed so we had to drive into town for a meal as options at the hotel were very limited. Heating on all night in the room and no way of turning it off which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.

Very impressed. Stayed for 1 night with my 8 year old son as a stopover on the way to Snowdonia. By far the cheapest hotel I could find in the local area, so expectations were low. Impressed though at the hotel, friendly staff at check-in, decent rooms and surprisingly comfy bed! Only downsides - the walls seemed rather thin, the angry man in the next room having an argument with someone on the phone was heard rather clearly(!) and shower lacked much pressure. But all in all, for a cheap night as a stopover it was perfect. Thanks!

This looks like it used to be a super spot but is now sadly rather run down. There is no one to great you, just a key with a note saying your room number. Despite a board outside advertising fish and chips, the bar/restaurant were both closed when we were there. The room was very dated with an avocado bathroom suite, a radiator on full blast that you couldn't turn off (middle of summer) a hot tap that doesn't turn on and a cold tap that runs hot brown water before coming through clear! However, the room was a good size and very clean, with plenty of fluffy white towels and heavy curtains that kept the light out in the early morning. For the one night that we needed it, it was fine, but I probably wouldn't stay for any length of time as there are no amenities close by so you have to drive for anything you need, breakfast, dinner etc.

Poor check in services hallways and room was unkept, food and drink options were severely limited. Overall unsatisfactory experience. We checked out before the night ended and went to a premier inn.

*Says 4 minute walk to llangollen but its more like a 45 minute walk *broken glass on bathroom floor, fire alarm going off through the night, was told by staff at checkin at 4pm that food had stopped being served yet an hour later they were serving another couple wit food, room was so dusty and dirty very old and dated, also was advertising breakfast yet no one was there the next morning to do breakfast. Only good thing about this hotel was thr stunning views across rhr countryside.. not worth £70 a night

It’s like it’s still in the old days old blankets bed u could feel the springs in it . towels had dirt on them cob webs in the light . Nobody there to greet u key left with a piece of paper . No breakfast all doors were locked to the bar no dinners on . All holiday not good at all . Didn’t stay two days as car broke down and had to be taken home so waiting to see if I get a refund for the one night we didn’t stay…

It is the second time in a couple of weeks that I stayed here. Checking in and out simple and fast. Staff very friendly. I stayed in two different rooms and both were clean and comfortable. Tv and Wi Fi reception also very good. I would go back againg.

The whole appearance was of a hotel that was closing down. There was nobody at reception. The man that was tending the gardens opened the door and let us in telling us the keys were on the desk. There were two bars, both locked. In one there was a sign saying to use the other bar as this one is not in use. It appeared that the place had been in this state for some time!! We had booked bed and breakfast (inclusive) but were told they were not doing food. He said he could arrange breakfast at a cost of £10 each!! He was extremely incommunicative and unhelpful. There was a sign on the back of the door saying that there was no room service if you were staying more than one day. It also told us that there was extra tea/coffee/milk on a table in reception. There wasn't. The heat in reception was like that in a sauna, and the lighting was never on. The rooms were very tired with work needing doing to them. It was a most unenjoyable experience and I feel that we have been lured there under false pretences. I won't be going back again and will consider not using Hotels.com again. If anybody was asking whether to use the Abbey Grange Hotel I would advise them to find somewhere else.

The hotel is not where is says it is on Hotel.com - it is 1km out of Llagollen, so very difficult if you don't have a car. Staff were not hospitable, almost surprised I was there and gave little to no information about the hotel and services. Have to order breakfast the night before, if you can find any staff to order it.

From the moment I arrived the staff were friendly and helpful. Location is set back from a country road so it was quiet and close to hills and mountains for walking. A few minutes drive from the main town of Llangollen it was convenient and peaceful. The chef was very helpful and able to meet my needs with small changes to the menus with ease. Room was basic but adequate and clean. Exactly what was needed for a short break.

Very impressed. Stayed for 1 night with my 8 year old son as a stopover on the way to Snowdonia. By far the cheapest hotel I could find in the local area, so expectations were low. Impressed though at the hotel, friendly staff at check-in, decent rooms and surprisingly comfy bed! Location near to Llangollen is good but surrounding restaurants were closed so we had to drive into town for a meal as options at the hotel were very limited. Heating on all night in the room and no way of turning it off which made for an uncomfortable nights sleep.

Abbey Grange is a tired hotel / B&B, but OK for a short stopover. It is not in Llangollen, the map for the property is incorrect. it is on the road to the Horseshoe Pass. A good 45 min walk to the town. Staff were nice and the food good. Nice green setting fir a quiet stay.

Very picturesque, great location and views but very dirty, had to clean the bath before it could be used as was grimy and full of hair, clearly hadn’t even been rinsed. Bed linen was spotless and bed comfy though

The hotel is in a fantastic and beautiful location. It was a bit tired and the Family room was chintzy. Our shower didn’t get anywhere near warm and the towels were clean but rough. The hotel bar closed at 9:30 on a Friday night. The cost was relatively high but didn’t include a breakfast and was too far outside Llangollen to walk.

The hotel is a bit out of town and very peaceful. Lovely view of the hills. Checkin was friendly and welcoming. Room was rather bland and slightly 1970s, but clean and well kept. Most importantly it was warm a comfortable and I got a good night’s sleep. The bar closed very early which was a shame as I’d arranged to meet a friend at 9pm but by then all was in darkness. I would have liked to try the £10 breakfast but had already arranged to eat elsewhere. All in all, a good value stay in a beautiful location. I’d be very happy to return.

Th hotel has 90’s decor a mix of poor styles, no breakfast and shut the bar early although staff drinking just not the public. Photo on websites made me think I was getting something better your not. Mouse in hallway’s and in bedroom I had to remove it.

It is not nice as it was portrayed. it was smelly , dirty, it had holes in door in bathroom. We decided not to stay given the condition, and were refused a refund. I not only wouldn’t recommend , I would encourage to look elsewhere

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was a very disappointing experience. The attitude of the staff, especially the hotel owner was extremely rude and unprofessional. The room was not properly clean, and there was hair in the bathtub when we arrived. Also, the booking information stated that a hairdryer was available in the room, but there was no hairdryer provided. When I asked the owner for a hairdryer, I was treated very rudely and was told to “dry my hair naturally.” I have very long hair, so this was not a reasonable or helpful response at all. Overall, I was very unhappy with my stay and did not feel that the service or cleanliness was at an acceptable standard. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel based on my experience.

We arrived to check in around 4.30pm. The exterior lights were all lit but the grounds looked as though someone had recently stopped work. Water hose left in the entrance to the guest quarters and other gardening equipment lying around. The premises didn't appear to be open. No interior lights on most doors locked. We entered what seemed to be a bar area and called out .An older woman appeared from an office area beyond the bar. We said we had a booking which she went away to check. She handed us a room key and pointed to the access to the rooms. She told us the bar was open until 8.30. We went to the room and on the way noticed what appeared to be bags of dirty washing in the corridor. Upon entering the room it became increasingly obvious that the room and decorations were in a state of disrepair. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls ,paint was peeling from the bathroom ceiling. There were old coffee spills and stains on the doors and cobwebs on the ceilings. There was a provision for coffee and tea ie. a kettle ,two cups and saucers and coffee in a glass jar and tea bags and milk. The coffee cups had coffee stains on the outside and rings of dried coffee in the base of the cups. The coffee and tea bags could have been there for any length of time and given the state of the rest of the room we decided not to use them. There were two glasses in the bath room,neither of which were useable due to the fact that they looked as though they had been used and not cl

Water hose left in the entrance to the guest quarters and other gardening equipment lying around. The premises didn't appear to be open. No interior lights on most doors locked. We entered what seemed to be a bar area and called out .An older woman appeared from an office area beyond the bar. We said we had a booking which she went away to check. She handed us a room key and pointed to the access to the rooms. She told us the bar was open until 8.30. We went to the room and on the way noticed what appeared to be bags of dirty washing in the corridor. Upon entering the room it became increasingly obvious that the room and decorations were in a state of disrepair. The wallpaper was peeling from the walls ,paint was peeling from the bathroom ceiling. There were old coffee spills and stains on the doors and cobwebs on the ceilings. There was a provision for coffee and tea ie. a kettle ,two cups and saucers and coffee in a glass jar and tea bags and milk. The coffee cups had coffee stains on the outside and rings of dried coffee in the base of the cups. The coffee and tea bags could have been there for any length of time and given the state of the rest of the room we decided not to use them. It was like going back to the 1950,s decor very old , breakfast was awful 1 sausage 1 slice of bacon over cooked egg burnt tomatoe . Warm toast
