Nice clean & comfortable room, easy check in. Breakfast is definitely the best we have been offered anywhere in the U.K., with a truely extensive offering! Can get a little busy between 8.30 & 10am, so best to get there earlier! Spa is good although definitely over capacity with day guests in the afternoon. The Spa manager needs to put a limit on it instead of thinking about the profit. Fifty minute treatment for £95 was so worth it. Would definitely return for a two to three night break again!

A repeat visit for us. The hot spring is excellent (even though the main indoor pool was a hotter than the super-nice temperature on previous occasions), breakfast is good, rooms are comfortable (although aircon was not working well this time and one had to sleep with open windows, it was reasonably quiet), convenient parking nearby

I had a great short break here, the staff, the services and general standards were really good. Only downsides were the bed was two singles put together, and the spa closed at 8pm, probably should be more like 9/10pm, which I didn't expect for £360 per night, other than that I'd recommend staying here.

The hotel looks very impressive on arrival and set in a beautiful location. Parking was easy on a nearby street. Warm and welcoming staff on arrival and the room was cosy, clean and comfortable with a large bathroom with walk in shower and a bath. It faced the rear of the building so the view wasn’t very exciting and the air conditioning units were a little noisy meaning the window had to be shut. Good air conditioning though. The spa was fantastic and we spent a good 2-3 hours relaxing in there. It was hard finding our way around from the 3rd floor far side of the hotel and a bit maze like. More signs would have been helpful. At one point we couldn’t find our way through and ended up in a kitchen! The dining room was lovely and we had a fabulous breakfast. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

Fabulous stay. Great food and one of the best spas we’ve been to. Only negative was that the bathroom shower smelt of bad drain smell and there some sort of heating/boiler noise from outside

Although the overall cleanliness was good the room could have been better. The carpet wasn’t well vacuumed and the bathroom floor was questionable. Staff were friendly but nobody seemed to want to go the ‘extra mile’. Barman didn’t know how to make Irish coffee - calling it a cocktail - and seemed annoyed that I’d asked for one and challenged him about it not being a cocktail. Our key fob hadn’t been programmed correctly so we were unable to access the spa without assistance nor some of the rooms in the spa. No member of staff offered to rectify it for us. No locker offered in the spa. We had to use robes from the bedroom for going to the spa. These obviously got damp and no dry ones offered. They were still wet the following morning. More attention to detail required.

The room was great, we had one on the back of the hotel overlooking the hills. We used the spa when we arrived and before we checked out. The hotel is in the process of changing owners, the staff seem a little sad whilst still staying professional. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment for us. We’ve stayed here a lot so have plenty of other times to compare too. Yea cups were dirty & had to be changed, tea didn’t arrive & we had to request again. The fruit salad was on the turn, old melon that had started to ferment. Just seemed like they were ‘winding down’ we will visit again when the new owners take over so hopefully will see improvements to how it used to be.

Stunning building, with great facilities, friendly staff and top quality spa treatments. The attic room has a great layout, and provided a comfortable stay. The only issue we faced was with the robes provided, they felt a bit old and tired, not very comfortable and had some holes in them. Plus new robes weren’t provided daily so on day 2 the robes were a bit damp and less comfortable. Overall the stay was great but seems a bit expensive when calculating the stay and treatments.

Everything about this hotel was great. The staff who welcomed us with a glass of Prosecco and advice about where to go and eat. To the beautiful room, lovely and spacious and very clean. A bath and walk-in shower both spotless and powerful. The breakfast was lovely (heated plates a nice touch), only niggle was that it was a limited range of breakfast items out, however being able to order pretty much any breakfast item, cooked fresh was a treat; my poached egg and oak smoked haddock was delicious. We did come for the spa and it didn’t disappoint. It was great putting on your robe in your room and waking down one flight to find yourself in the spa! Plan to return!

Beautiful hotel and spa Enjoyed drinks in the bar and a delicious breakfast this morning My only complaint which I should have mentioned immediately was that our bathroom had a very bad odour from the drains which made it a little unpleasant on first entry to the room. Window open and it improved a little but remained for the 20hrs whilst staying. Needs attention as it detracted from the intended luxury experience a little

The spa facilities are great! And mostly the service was good too. But the fact we pay so much and when we ask for water bottles for the room they charge £1 a bottle was crazy! Also the breakfast on a whole was great .....again they charged if you ordered 2 plates but I think this was to prevent wastage! The hotel itself partially seemed old. The room wasn't as clean as I'd expect. Also they had very different rooms and we got 2 rooms and got very different rooms.

As a family, we travel extensively, and we generally stay at 4-5 star properties. The first room 105 stank of damp/ mold from the moment we arrived. The AC/ Radiators did not work, so an engineer had to be called. After his visit, we had one cold radiator and a partially warm radiator. No reduction in the smell. The hotel constantly makes contact, via WhatsApp. So I made a complaint after the first night. They said someone would try to make the room smell better…! As far as we could gather, that was opening the windows. On the second morning, the day of check out, we received a message asking how the stay had been, I told them that it was unacceptable, due to the smell. That’s only the room. Service in the restaurant is comical. On our first morning, an order of kippers arrived 20 minutes after the other breakfasts, minus the 2 poached eggs on the side. On the second morning, we asked for a second pot of coffee, three times over 35 minutes. At the fourth request, we received two pots. How hard can it be, to serve pots of coffee. The hotel ultimately loses out, because we decided not to bother with spending any further money there, as it’s undeserving of its rating. Another 4 star hotel on a crescent is the Waldorf Hilton in London. The staff at the Ensana should be sent there for a couple of days reconnaissance, and they might learn how to offer proper hospitality. Our clothes now smell of mold. We would never return.

Room was lovely. Had the attic room but very spacious. Windows fully opened to get fresh air in and a view of the opera House, shower amazing. Bed so so comfy and cozy. Spa still amazing condition. Could do with some more jets and more powerful ones and a jacuzzi

We booked three nights here expecting it to be a fabulous five star hotel however this is a four star at best. The communal areas and the spa are lovely however the rooms are certainly not those of a five star hotel. Considering the rooms are a reasonable size there is very little storage space for clothes, no mirror except in the bathroom and no toiletries etc. except in shower. Beware if you’re spending extra to have a five star experience.

We had a Superior Attic room. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and looked like they had been recently renovated and they were finished to a very night standard. The room was welcoming, comfortable and quiet. The hotel staff were very friendly and professional. We will definitely be back to stay at the hotel and sample what the Spa has to offer.

A good experience this was our 3rd time. Lovely spa, one of the best. the food superb except the breakfast sausage a little overdone on both mornings. my only negative was the size of the room. If felt small, the bathroom was built into the room. The bed was not as wide as the one we sleep on at home. In previous rooms I have felt the size was better.

Nice hotel but a few irritations during our stay. Creaky floorboards in the room above woke us up at 6am - not ideal for a relaxing spa break overnight stay. Late night noise from the pubs that back on to the hotel. Room chrome cast wouldn’t work. Room services charges are extortionate - £10 charge to bring food up to the room is unnecessary and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Room was clean, bed very comfy, spa facilities done really nicely. Nice hotel but a few irritations during our stay. Creaky floorboards in the room above woke us up at 6am - not ideal for a relaxing spa break overnight stay. Late night noise from the pubs that back on to the hotel. Room chrome cast wouldn’t work. Room services charges are extortionate - £10 charge to bring food up to the room is unnecessary and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Room was clean, bed very comfy, spa facilities done really nicely. Staff all friendly. Just the above mentioned nuisances that would probably put us off staying again.

The hotel looks very impressive on arrival and set in a beautiful location. Parking was easy on a nearby street. Warm and welcoming staff on arrival and the room was cosy, clean and comfortable with a large bathroom with walk in shower and a bath. It faced the rear of the building so the view wasn’t very exciting and the air conditioning units were a little noisy meaning the window had to be shut. Good air conditioning though. The spa was fantastic and we spent a good 2-3 hours relaxing in there. It was hard finding our way around from the 3rd floor far side of the hotel and a bit maze like. More signs would have been helpful. At one point we couldn’t find our way through and ended up in a kitchen! The dining room was lovely and we had a fabulous breakfast. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return.

Enjoyed our stay at Ensana Buxton. The spa facilities are excellent - there are three types of sauna, a steam room, an aroma room, an indoor and outdoor heated pool, a thermal pool, and a small swimming pool, plus relaxation areas and heated loungers. Hairdryers and straighteners in the changing areas were excellent. The hotel itself is nice and of a high standard, but I found the basic room to be really small, and a queen sized bed not big enough for two adults. Staff were friendly at check-in, but it was quite a slow process. Breakfast staff were pleasant but inattentive, and the cooked breakfast was small. I think the hotel is an average 4-star but the spa is excellent.

Beautiful hotel and location. Great rooms, bed v comfortable, luxurious feel to the place. Spa was good, could do with updating a bit so feels less tired. Spa treatment was ok, but not worth the value at £85 for 50 mins. The main issue was the service received. Room was ready at 2pm but they made us wait in reception for 39 minutes to get into it. When I pushed the issue I was met with grumpy facial expressions and silence. At breakfast, the three of us were shown to our table by the manager. The same manager questioned why I was ordering 3 breakfasts and were 2 of them for me as there were only 2 of us sitting at the table. (My friend was getting a coffee) I was embarrassed at the suggestion.

Not the best experience. This is the 5th time we’ve stayed here but we have several issues in check-in: we were not happy with the room we were allocated as it was an accessible room on the ground floor, reception did rectify this but upon arrival at the new room there were 2 single beds, not a double that we’d booked. Again, this was rectified but it took up time into our short stay away. We extended check out on our last day by 1 hour, paying an extra £30 for the privilege, only to be disturbed by housekeeping when there was a ‘do not disturb’ sign on the door!

We had a restful and indulgent stay at the Ensana Buxton Crescent. The spa was lovely, the staff couldn't do enough to help, and the room was very grand. My only (slight) criticism was the poached eggs at breakfast had obviously been under lights as they were overdone and the yolks hard. It was a shame as everything else had been absolutely perfect.

Unhappy with the service- Asked for early check out and not accommodating It’s too expensive for what they provide I asked the receptionist for a tooth brush and I was offered to collect it by myself. The used flip flops was in my bathroom which is not hygienic. I paid for breakfast and they said they only offer a sandwich as I have early check out.

On arrival check in was smooth and our bags were taken to our rooms for us. The room itself was lovely, we were in an Attic Superior room. The dressing gown provided had a belt loop missing and was rather tired, not the end of the world but also not something you would expect from a 5* luxury spa. The facilities are very good and it never felt too busy whilst we were in the spa area. The rooftop pool is a must come rain or shine. Whilst there we were celebrating a special occasion and unbeknownst to us a bottle of champagne had been ordered by someone not staying there to be sent to the room on the Sunday. Luckily they sent a message to check it had arrived before we’d checked out on Monday, as it had not. It was queried with the reception staff on check out and they confirmed they could see it on the bill, when asked for it to be removed they explained that it had to be requested by the person who ordered it. At no point was there an apology for the champagne not arriving just a matter of fact explanation of the hoops the purchaser would have to jump through to get their money back, like this was our mistake and our problem. We won’t be in a rush to return to a hotel that does not apologise when a mistake has been made by them. Really disappointing end to the stay.

Poor check in experience coloured the rest of the stay, 100 quid extra if you want to check in before 3pm, can't use any of the facilities whilst you wait etc etc etc. Stupid rules means a very second rate approach to customer service.

They are not setup for check-in and out. Because they have a late check in time everyone is going to check in at this time to get the full experience the same goes for check out. Check in was around 15mins wait and check out 25mins.

An excellent repeat stay for us -- the pool facilities are superb, rooms have good air conditioning and breakfast is good (although patience may be required to have the order delivered correctly). Buxton itself is very nice, too. Convenient paid parking (4 hour) nearby.

A great location in the centre of Buxton, in walking distance to the railway station, local shops and interesting historic sites. The hotel offers an amazing spa experience. Staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely restaurant and bar areas too.

Fantastic hotel with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Beautifully renovated, clean and friendly staff. Perfect location for the Opera House and Pavillion - avoiding the uphill hike required to reach other hotels! The nearby on-street parking has restrictions, so i would recommend booking the hotel's Valet Parking service.

Our stay was so perfect that we asked if they had an availability for one more night. We’d wanted to stay here for a while and none of it disappointed. Wonderful facilities, great breakfast, cheery and helpful staff, and an easy walk into town, Poole’s Cavern and Solomon’s Tower

Well worth the money spent on the restorations. An important part of the heritage of Buxton In a great location. Pleasant welcoming staff on reception. A comfortable bed a very nice bathroom. Fantastic shower. High quality towels toiletries and bath robes and slippers provided. Very impressed overall!

Had an excellent stay. The spa and room were both lovely. The only small issue I would say is that the food in the restaurant was very over priced for what you get. You can eat in the bar area and the food is half the price and you get twice as much. But overall it was great. We will definitely be going back

Best spa I’ve been to. Hot pools, 3 saunas. 2 steam rooms. Hotel rooms are nice but not worth the big cost! Great location in Buxton. Not a fully breakfast buffet. Fabulous historic hotel in beautiful area. Amazing spa facilities and rooftop pool. Beautiful rooms. Restaurant was very disappointing, short staffed, long waits, coffee was undrinkable, stressful experience.

Everything about this hotel was great. The staff who welcomed us with a glass of Prosecco and advice about where to go and eat. To the beautiful room, lovely and spacious and very clean. A bath and walk-in shower both spotless and powerful. The breakfast was lovely (heated plates a nice touch), only niggle was that it was a limited range of breakfast items out, however being able to order pretty much any breakfast item, cooked fresh was a treat; my poached egg and oak smoked haddock was delicious. We did come for the spa and it didn’t disappoint. It was great putting on your robe in your room and waking down one flight to find yourself in the spa! Plan to return!

It is a beautiful hotel and spa and I really enjoyed my stay. My only criticism would be with the food offering in the Lounge area as an alternative to the à la carte menu in the restaurant. The Lounge area is made up of a series of small rooms furnished like a dark gentleman’s club with uncomfortable hard leather chairs and no atmosphere. I went down to eat there one evening and I was the only person there. There was nothing tempting on the menu so I left without eating or drinking as it felt unwelcoming. All other areas of the hotel are a pleasure to be in and I would certainly return but plan to eat out instead.

The main thermal pool in the basement was unfortunately too hot during this particular visit. We've stayed several times before; this was the first time the water was uncomfortably hot (there could have been a on-off problem with the heat regulation valve). Our room at the corner of the building was quiet, well air-conditioned and comfortable. The breakfast was decent but they ran out of croissants and other pastries pretty early on and failed to replenish the tray. I don't see why they couldn't keep the tray filled until 10.30 AM so hotel guests arriving later for breakfast could have some pastries too. The hotel could also serve better quality sourdough bread at the self-service breakfast counter instead of cheap sliced bread containing preservatives and additives.

The hotel is ideally located to enjoy the best of Buxton. It is beautifully decorated, with a real sense of luxury. Our room was spotless and the bed very comfy. Staff were helpful and polite. My only disappointment was the breakfast service and in all truth this was completely unacceptable. It was apparent that the kitchen and service was heavily understaffed, which impacted upon the cleanliness, insufficient stocks on the buffet service and delays serving food. Most people had a 45min delay for hot breakfast, and this resulted in us and a number of other guests requesting refunds. The serving staff were very apologetic and just looked worn out and embarrassed.

We felt sorry for the breakfast room waiters and waitresses and reception staff who were working so hard and who unfairly had to bear the brunt of people's complaints about the slowness of the kitchen. Admittedly the breakfast restaurant was very busy and when it finally arrived the food was excellent. However, the hotel needs to address this problem unless it was a one off.

Beautiful hotel with nice rooms and pools! We booked it in order to bring our baby to a pool which one of the pools allowed for at specific times, which was great! The breakfast though was disappointing. The food was slow and not great.
