Lovely friendly staff, room was comfortable but a little basic. A mirror in the bedroom would be a welcome addition. Breakfast was nice. The hotel is on a busy road but the view from the back was stunning. They run an indian restaurant with lots of events and we were told that the food was great. Would stay again.

We had a lovely stay at the bell and bottle. Food was excellent x really comfy bed. Staff were brilliant. Will definitely stay next year same time for horse show 2024 Also had the pleasure of witnessing a wedding party x

We phoned ahead to ask if someone would be available to drop our luggage before check in as we were out for the day and were told yes but when we arrived at 11am it was locked up and no one there. When we got back in the evening there was a party (of about 4 people) going on in the restaurant immediately below the rooms with a DJ and the music was ridiculously loud. We checked in and went upstairs to our room to find that the music was vibrating the walls. We went down to ask how long it would last and were told until 11pm. We said this was not appropriate and were ignored. The music went on until 12.15pm. The rooms are university-hall standard, at best. At check in they asked us to fill out a form for the included breakfast which we did and when we went down to breakfast we asked that they were checking the forms as my partner has food intolerances and were assured they had the information. However, when the food arrived it was completely different than what we ordered and random, my partner was unable to eat what was served. What was edible, was terrible.

Accommodation fairly average, as with many hotels today. Bed ok if under 6ft. TV basic. The food was an Indian Restaurant - Quality of the food was excellent, but watch out for the service charge. Overall the hotel and restaurant were good for the price.

Thought it was a village pub but was an Indian Restaurant. Service was slow due to understaffing but staff were very courteous and polite. Tables were not cleaned from evening meal when we went for breakfast.

Positives Free and ample parking. Negatives Hellishly expensive restaurant with no discount for residents. Poor selection of beers or ales. Cleaniless of the room in particular window sills left a lot to be desired. The downstairs of the hotel is a restaurant and nice looking but upstairs was the complete opposite. Advertised as a hotel, when in reality it is a restaurant with bedsit like accommodation. Breakfast order was taken the night before with a set time. Small cups for tea and only half filled and rather stewed. Poached eggs were cold, hard and rubbery. Sausage looked half cooked and rather pale like it has only been griddled one on side. No choice of toast, simply given white. Overall it was disappointing and certainly won't be returning.

I must admit to being surprised as I was expecting a traditional pub with rooms and not an Indian restaurant however the staff were so very friendly and helpful. The food was very good if a little expensive The hotel accommodation was excellant value especially as it included breakfast.

The rooms are basic or functional, but they weren't that clean. The toilet was nothing short of disgusting. The room had everything in that was needed I suppose but I was quite surprised that noise really travelled across the hotel and restaurant as did the aroma of cooking. Probably wouldnt return.

This hotel is not five star, but the service was! The hotel is very nice location. Hotel was clean. The staff were amazing! I asked for extra towels they came within five minutes. We slept through breakfast, they brought it to our room. I would definitely stay here again

Staff were rude and disinterested, room was clean but locks broken off bathroom door and large cracks in the wall. The breakfast I had was the poorest of quality, i was very please to leave and never return!

Someone's underwear left in a draw, marks/stains on the sheets, chaotic check in, shower head broken, bed was so uncomfortable and faced a busy main road. We had to ask multiple times for towels, as there was only one in the room. Breakfast was ok but nothing to sing about. Very disappointing. Wouldn't recommend

A warm, friendly welcome on arrival. Room was clean with a comfy bed and pillows. Breakfast cooked to order with plenty of options. Nothing to complain about and will certainly stay there again.

Great staff, clean, warm generous sized room, lovely breakfast- only very minor issue is that the TV wasn’t tuned and couldn’t get signal - and curtains to small for the window but that’s all I could fault - would definitely recommend and would stay there again

The room had all we needed for our stay .Large shower and the room was clean and tidy Full english breakfast in the restaurant. Staff very polite , helpful and friendly . Room was warm but a fan on a stand was in the room but it was quite powerful even on the low setting . Road noise from the A4 if you are used to quiet

On checking in to my stay, the staff were very unhelpful. So much so that they didn’t explain to me that in the morning there was a back door you have to exit from, without knowing this information I found myself locked in the property with no idea how to get out. This made me very late for work. My room was boiling, and wasn’t advertised that it had no windows that opened to the outside. The windows to the room opened out in to a corridor leading to other rooms. This meant the room was also pretty loud with people walking past the door and windows. On arriving back from work on my second night stay I was greeted by a much more helpful member of staff that told me that I should never have been given that room due to a key to the room being taken by a guest and it was a safety issue. I then had to switch rooms. At least the new room had windows that opened to the outside. Personally I will not use this “hotel” again. Unfortunately the price did not reflect the type of stay I received. To many negatives in such a short stay is worrying.

The food from the restaurant downstairs was very good. The room was abysmal as the window opened out to the internal fire escape corridor. As such the room was essentially a badly ventilated oven. A portable AC unit was provided, but to use it you had to leave the window to the corridor open meaning you could wave to anyone going past, but not talk to them as the AC sounded like a jet. Further to this the corridor had motion sensing lighting so all night it would randomly come on and illuminate my room.
The food from the restaurant downstairs was very good. The room was abysmal as the window opened out to the internal fire escape corridor. As such the room was essentially a badly ventilated oven. There was a party going on in the restaurant downstairs until gone 11, and the music was loud enough to shame the entire room. Avoid staying here, the room is less than basic, plain white walls and bedding, windows that open into a hallway, and the WiFi doesn't work. Giant air con unit just pulling air from the next room over, horrendously un-eco-friendly.

The windows to the room opened out in to a corridor leading to other rooms. This meant the room was also pretty loud with people walking past the door and windows. On arriving back from work on my second night stay I was greeted by a much more helpful member of staff that told me that I should never have been given that room due to a key to the room being taken by a guest and it was a safety issue. I then had to switch rooms. At least the new room had windows that opened to the outside. Personally I will not use this “hotel” again. Unfortunately the price did not reflect the type of stay I received. To many negatives in such a short stay is worrying.

This hotel is not five star, but the service was! The hotel is very nice location. Hotel was clean. The staff were amazing! I asked for extra towels they came within five minutes. We slept through breakfast, they brought it to our room. I would definitely stay here again

A lovely stop over! My husband and I booked last minute and couldn’t have been more pleased. We were made to feel welcome from the beginning of our stay to the end and the Indian restaurant hit the spot. Will definitely be back

We phoned ahead to ask if someone would be available to drop our luggage before check in as we were out for the day and were told yes but when we arrived at 11am it was locked up and no one there. When we got back in the evening there was a party (of about 4 people) going on in the restaurant immediately below the rooms with a DJ and the music was ridiculously loud. We checked in and went upstairs to our room to find that the music was vibrating the walls. We went down to ask how long it would last and were told until 11pm. We said this was not appropriate and were ignored. The music went on until 12.15pm. The rooms are university-hall standard, at best. At check in they asked us to fill out a form for the included breakfast which we did and when we went down to breakfast we asked that they were checking the forms as my partner has food intolerances and were assured they had the information. However, when the food arrived it was completely different than what we ordered and random, my partner was unable to eat what was served. What was edible, was terrible.

Overnight stay. Arrived early so room still occupied but the hosts where very accommodating and allowed us change for our day out in the hotel. Lovely friendly staff, room was comfortable but a little basic. A mirror in the bedroom would be a welcome addition. Breakfast was nice. The hotel is on a busy road but the view from the back was stunning. They run an indian restaurant with lots of events and we were told that the food was great. Would stay again.

We had a lovely stay at the bell and bottle. Food was excellent x really comfy bed. Staff were brilliant. Will definitely stay next year same time for horse show 2024 Also had the pleasure of witnessing a wedding party x

Someone's underwear left in a draw, marks/stains on the sheets, chaotic check in, shower head broken, bed was so uncomfortable and faced a busy main road. We had to ask multiple times for towels, as there was only one in the room. Breakfast was ok but nothing to sing about. Very disappointing. Wouldn't recommend

Rooms were good and the food in the restaurant is first class Staff couldn’t do enough for me and even kept the kitchen open when I arrived late on a Sunday. Only issue was the road noise at night, however, nothing can be done about that!

The room had all we needed for our stay .Large shower and the room was clean and tidy Full english breakfast in the restaurant. Staff very polite , helpful and friendly . Room was warm but a fan on a stand was in the room but it was quite powerful even on the low setting . Road noise from the A4 if you are used to quiet

Accommodation fairly average, as with many hotels today. Bed ok if under 6ft. TV basic. The food was an Indian Restaurant - Quality of the food was excellent, but watch out for the service charge. Overall the hotel and restaurant were good for the price.

Positives Free and ample parking. Negatives Hellishly expensive restaurant with no discount for residents. Poor selection of beers or ales. Cleaniless of the room in particular window sills left a lot to be desired. The downstairs of the hotel is a restaurant and nice looking but upstairs was the complete opposite. Advertised as a hotel, when in reality it is a restaurant with bedsit like accommodation. Breakfast order was taken the night before with a set time. Small cups for tea and only half filled and rather stewed. Poached eggs were cold, hard and rubbery. Sausage looked half cooked and rather pale like it has only been griddled one on side. No choice of toast, simply given white. Overall it was disappointing and certainly won't be returning.

I must admit to being surprised as I was expecting a traditional pub with rooms and not an Indian restaurant however the staff were so very friendly and helpful. The food was very good if a little expensive The hotel accommodation was excellant value especially as it included breakfast.

I would not stay here again under any circumstances. Value for money was extremely poor. We reserved 3 rooms at £140 each. The third room was not needed in the end but any attempt to get a refund was met with indifference. The shower rail detached from the wall and the hose was kinked. The toilet seat was skew-whiff. The light went off in the bathroom after less than a minute. Despite the rooms being occupied by 2 people, there was only 1 towel, 1 cup, 1 glass and even 1 bedside table in each room. I suppose we should be grateful there was a double bed. The WiFi didn’t work. There was no breakfast and in the morning we had to leave via the fire exit. This accommodation should not be on hotels.com - it’s not worthy of inclusion. Don’t stay here, not even if you’re desperate (which we were).
