River Edge Inn

Pool was not in operation at the time of check in. Wish I would have been notified. That was the main reason we booked this hotel. Breakfast was adequate, staff are friendly, could use some updating in the rooms. Beds are very Firm. Nice pillows.

Be sure to call the hotel in advance and tell them if you are bringing a pet. The second floor rooms are not pet friendly.

No ice machine.

Staff was nice. Room was clean. However, check in was supposed to be at 3:00 pm. Was not able to get into room until 7:30 pm. Pool was more of a public pool than for hotel guests. People came in and set up camp in back parking spaces with loud annoying music. Will stay again but will request room in front of hotel.

Right on the beach with free parking and a pool but the AC was super loud and the property a bit dated.

Would have liked bars and restaurants tonbe open a little later. Umbrellas at the pool would have been nice. And they could have skimmed the pool water some to rid the bugs. Like that we could walk everywhere we wanted to go.

They will only give you one key. And they ration out the ice 1 cup of ice per person

It was very convenient to the boardwalk. Parking was nice as well.

The property had an amazing view of the Potomac river. It was very clean. The hotel furniture was well worn. But the view made everything great. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The rooms walls were a little dirty. Bathtub had a rusty spot in the side and mold on the tiles around tub.

Shower had a few hairs from previous guest.

Bathroom did not look clean. Dirty grout. Stickers peeling off the floor. Room had SO much wear and tear. Furniture scuffed, torn and in bad shape. Bed and pillows not comfortable. Not a bargain either paid $260/night. Would not return. Not worth the $. Very friendly staff at front desk though!

Took 10 minutes for a staff to check me in after I arrived--they were nowhere to be found despite calling as instructed twice and knocking on employee only doors. Floor in the room was dirty, couldn't walk around barefoot. Shower was very weird where you could have a hot shower or a cold shower but in the middle it just turned off. Gave some real thought to staying somewhere else even though the money for this reservation was already gone. Do not recommend.

Mould on the hallway vents Carpet in the room was old dirty and excessively stained Bathroom shower curtain was mildewed no coffee maker no ice machine, little bags from the front office 1 at a time old towels look like they came from a thrift store extremely disappointed by the condition of the place for the price I would not recommend this place The location is great too bad its in the shape its in

This is an older motet that offers an affordable, clean option right on the beach. Front desk staff was warm and welcoming, and the room was very clean. Check in was simple, and we loved being able to walk out our door and within steps, be on the beach. There's a park next door, which hosted a BBQ battle one day, and a croquette tournament the next, and we could play frisbee and throw a football there, as well. The boardwalk starts there, and there are convenient dining options close by.

Really loved this place. I had a great experience here. Had no problems with check in, parking, and the rooms were kept clean. The breakfast was standard but still better than most places. The front desk were very helpful as well.

This is a budget beachside hotel. The location is good for Colonial Beach, but the overall quality and cleanliness was disappointing. The room was not totally clean and there were damaged or broken things everywhere. For example, the smoke alarm was simply hanging above the door by its electric connecting cords. It makes you question everything. I will never visit this hotel or the beach again. I also learned that I paid $100 more by booking through this platform. Booking directly was much cheaper. The price on this platform indicating a nicer hotel than in actuality.

The room was moderately clean. The towels were paper thin. Beds were very uncomfortable. I would not recommend.

our room didn't really have a water view. It seems like only 4 rooms do. THat would have been nice to know. Also, there are no balconies, so you can't enjoy that waterfront experience. The guy that checked us in was extremely nice and helpful.

I had read a lot of mixed reviews so I was a little skeptical but the room was not bad it was clean, had a mini fridge and microwave and it’s right on the boardwalk in front on the beach the only complain I have is that you can hear people from the other rooms hard to sleep with so much noise we stayed on the bottom floor.

We liked seeing the beach from our room! Our first room had a leaking air conditioning unit which wasn't great but they moved us with no issue. We did notice the room was kind of humid and it made the floor sticky. But it was clean overall. The shower pipes shrieked when we showered (plumbing issue?) Housekeeping was very efficient.

Just an older building with a bit of a musty smell. The location is great, however!

Place was too small could not get a small table with 2 chairs in it. Had to use the bed all the time.

I loved how tucked away it was and right next to the water. My wife and I enjoyed stargazing at night since there’s little to no lights out at the beach. The one thing I would ask for them to change is the mattress it was slightly uncomfortable as I can feel the springs on my back but other than that everything was wonderful

My third time staying here. Convenient, affordable. Within walking distance to almost everything. One concern I had, the check-in clerk kept answering the phone, and conducted business with the phone call as I waited for her to complete my paperwork. There were other folks lining up behind me. By no means was she discourteous, but take care of the people in front of you before you answer the phone.

Not as good as previous stays. Ice machine was broken and they only gave out small bags of ice wrapped in plastic wrap. Waited in line to check in for 25 minutes. The room wasn't ready until 3:45 p.m. Check-in was supposed to be 3:00 p.m. The remote for the TV quit working. The breakfast was bagels apples, bananas, juice, hard-boiled eggs, and coffee. The staff seemed friendly, did not seem to have enough help for cleaning staff, maybe that is the reason we had to wait for our room.

The location was great, and the Inn’s pool was very clean. However, our a/c unit ended up not working efficiently so we had to move rooms. The room we ended up in was right next to the stairwell and the guests would smoke right outside the entrance, so the cigarette smoke ended up wafting into our room. There were also a ton of random appliances just sitting out under the stairwell. But overall it was a decent stay for the price.

Our company came out for an event to do as a vendor. The hotel was good about letting us check in late & check out late. We even left some of our equipment in the room & they held it for us for an entire week until we could make it back there to get it The location was amazing, right on the beach & by the boardwalk. The offered free breakfast. The waffles were amazing, but the chocolate filled doughnuts were to die for, although I should have had the fruit and yogurt. We were able to get coffee all hours in the cafe. The pool was clean and a nice relaxing area. Definitely our spot when we come back to Colonial Beach. It is literally close to everything so you can walk, no need to drive. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful with whatever questions we had about the event going on and finding things nearby. We even watched the fireworks from the hotel parking lot.

I recently stayed at the River Edge Inn and had an incredibly disappointing experience. The hotel room was filthy upon arrival, which was already unacceptable. To make matters worse, there were people outside my door partying all night, both nights until 3 am, making it impossible to get any rest. Literally right outside of my hotel door. Despite informing the staff about the noise and people outside at midnight-3am, they did absolutely nothing to address the issues. When I raised my concerns again, the staff threatened to call the police on me, which was both shocking and unprofessional. Overall, my stay at River Edge Inn was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Parking was great, it was just a nice vibe. Staff was awesome and friendly. I love Colonial Beach and Rivers Edge Inn.

This was our first time visiting Colonia Beach and staying at the River Edge Inn. The staff were friendly, professional and provided great ideas of things to do and see while in town. Shawna was amazing we really appreciated her and the rest of the staff who made us feel welcomed and comfortable.

In general, the peoperty felt secure. Easy access ,Plenty of parking and very accessible to the downtown and beaches.Property is well loved but was very clean.

The staff was very kind and helpful. I would highly recommend this place if you ever visit Colonial Beach. The fact you could walk outside your door and literally be a the beach was a bonus!

You can’t beat the location. Steps away from the Potomac River and the little boardwalk. Parking is great. Which, in a small town, can be a bit challenging. Staff is always pleasant. Perfect getaway to relax.

We've been coming to Riveredge for years. We look forward to seeing what is in store with the change in ownership!! Was a bit annoying there was no hose spigot so we couldn't rinse sand off our feet after beach time. But the thing we were most disappointed with was the major change to breakfast options (really now just a Continental, not real breakfast). The previous owners always had hard boiled eggs and either bacon or sausage. That's gone now and since I have diabetes, there was literally NOTHING I could eat (just bread, waffles, more bread, pastries, sweetened yogurt and fruit). So sadly....no free breakfast for us anymore. Please consider bringing back some real breakfast that has protein selections. The elimination of breakfast food we could eat was a major disappointment regarding the changes the new management is making. It could make us wonder about keeping Riveredge as our 'every time go to' in Colonial Beach, because we typically choose places that offer breakfast. Also very much hoping the prices won't be going up w/ new management, it's reasonable now and we like that. We appreciate it's always clean, but fixing it up (which it does need) isn't going to make it any fancier than any other decent strip motel. We probably wouldn't opt to pay much more than we're paying now. Thank you for considering our opinions!

Not what i expected. Not much for breakfast and everything don't open till 9am if you want coffee you have to go to a store to get it.

This as a ‘value’ stay. We were not expecting Ritz-Carlton, and we didn’t get it for <$150/night. While acceptably clean, it had the residual odor of cleaning products. It would take several towels to really dry off; we got two. No coffee maker but short walk to lobby at 7am for decent coffee and, ah, breakfast? It was okay, and okay enough that we’ll come back for a one-two day stay.

It is a good place a quality time with family. Its closeness to beach makes it very convinient. However, the breakfast room is too small, and very limited breakfast options.
