This property is nothing like advertised - it is extremely run down and in need of complete renovation x the pub side of it is shut so no hope of food or drink . It’s very very disappointing and we were unable to have a refund so had no option but to stay x the bedroom wasn’t too bad once you got past the musty entrance although only one towel for two people ( could of asked for more I suppose ) . The receptionist was in fact quite helpful and very apologetic but couldn’t refund us x the pub side was shut so no food or drink x the whole place is very sadly rundown but could be amazing x it’s very grubby and damp - although the heating was working in the bedroom x I would not recommend this place to anyone

Guy on reception friendly. Car park is across from a very busy road. You take your life in your hands! Building quaint but very run down. Continual breakfast was probably the poorest fare I have ever been offered. Traffic very noisy, no air con so don’t stay in hot weather.

Checked in early evening with no problem, free upgrade to suite on 2 floors with a four poster bed! Some of the complaints in previous reviews seem to expect Premier Inn facilities forgetting that this is a ex-16th century coaching inn and it certainly shows its age, but it is a lot cheaper. Yes, the websites need updating as they still give the impression with photographs that it has restraunt & bar facilities, but it does state they are 'coming soon'. The decor is dated and rather tired but the gentleman who checked us in and was in attendance during breakfast was very helpful.

Probably the worst nights stay since I was a backpacker, room was in a cottage style annex, on entering the room we could see our breath it was that cold. Because the heat hadn’t been on for a while the air was cold and damp. Turned on radiator in both bedroom and bathroom but none worked, quilt was not warm enough and no additional blankets available, ended up having to sleep in our coats!! One bath towel for two people, no hand towels. Bar and restaurant closed as it’s apparently just a hotel now. Will not be returning.

The hotel is in a closed down pub, no food or drink. Very dated decor and not the cleanest, stayed for 4 nights and no room made up or cleqn towels etc, had to go and ask for loo roll. Nothing in the immediate area unless you drive. In fairness i do believe it might have just been taken over they need time to turn it around

Lovely room, comfy bed and lovely staff. The pub is no longer open so no food or drink available. Communal areas a bit tired, but lovely dining room for continental breakfast. I took a picnic that I had in the lovely courtyard at I read from reviews the pub part is shut. Very handy for motorways and Bicester Shopping Village.

Looked lovely but not a comfortable stay I’m afraid. Mold in the bathroom with hairs everywhere and the carpet on entry to the room, stained and dirty. Bad TV signal but not sure nothing could be done about that. Unfortunately I won’t be staying there again.

The room was in very poor condition. The blind was broken and wouldn’t open, and the whole space had an unpleasant, damp, musty smell. A sock had been used to hold the window latch shut, which felt unacceptable. The toilet was in worse condition than an abandoned public facility. Overall, I did not enjoy my stay and decided to leave early.

This property looked lovely in the photos but in reality it was very poor Unkempt on the outside and only rooms available no other facilities ie bar etc Room was ok but bathroom was dirty with the bath tiles mouldy and the loo was dirty with bad limescale Headboard was not attached to bed and every movement made in bag on the wall this disturbing next door room

The hotel is in a very nice place but the hotel needs some work done. Outside our door was a lot of rubbish, the room was in need of some repair and the bathroom was in a terrible state.

For a start, whilst this place appears to be a pub and you might expect to sit in the lovely beer garden or bar pictured it's not. There is no pub or restaurant they closed down a long time ago. The place is a tired disappointment from parking. Everything is tired and dirty. The pillows had blood stains on, mattress is a cheap memory foam and the bed base had a layer of dust. The blind was down with a sign saying 'sorry I'm injured' which looked like it had been injured for a long time with the layer of dust. Even the toilet bowl was brown and would welcome some bleach. We checked straight back out immediately and lost £105 it was that bad. To add insult to injury the hotel lied to hotels.com and said that they offered us a different room and upgrade which they did not!

Disappointed that the pub part of the hotel is closed, but advised as open. Very run down such a shame as it could be a beautiful place. Stair way to the room was very smelly. The room was ok but could have been looked after a little more. Bathroom not the cleanest.

Dirty bedding dust everywhere ,yellow sheets ,public hairs in the bathroom,very noisey from the rooms above ,restaurant disgusting dirty food area dirty floors ,breakfast was self service toast jam,the table clothes dirty on this area, I walked the staff around to show them all these faults,they said they will try better , I suggest they hire a cleaner .it needs a random hygiene inspection!!

The hotel has had better days, the pictures show were in it's prime. The bedroom I was given was in need of modernising, the bed was very uncomfortable and clearly worn down, the bed linen was not fully clean with stain marks on the pillow cases and fitted sheet. The bathroom hadn't been properly cleaned, the tub filled with water during a shower and didn't drain fast. I wouldn't be staying here again or recommending this hotel.

I dont often leave bad reviews but the pictures on the site are not current. The site says £15 per dog reception want £20, says a hair dryer none in the room. The room was freezing with the radiator on full blast. The windows were rotten and didnt shut properly. Avoid

Good intentions. Lack of investment resources! First impressions: (Superior Double) Having visited many years ago (under different ownership) I was disappointed to see the buildings & surroundings had deteriorated, lacking maintenance. The room was reasonably clean & quiet, with adequate bathroom facilities & plentiful, instant hot water. The room was well facilitated with fan, ironing board, hair dryer, lighting, furnishings etc., but the fridge was not functioning & the weather & room were hot. Thankfully, we carry our own mobile mini fridge & were able to use this in the room. The room smelled strongly of body odour, which we tried to dissipate by opening windows, using the room fan & our own freshener sprays. We rely heavily on WiFi access. Despite being specified, we could not get a connection in the room. The password repeatedly failed, although the QR code worked, but gave very poor intermittent access. Poor, local signal strength provided no mobile data. The TV was problematic, and the lack of WiFi access as a substitute, exacerbated the problem. The one member of staff we encountered was very polite and helpful to a couple of special requests. Despite many years of using hotels, we had always specified "Full English breakfast" and never stayed where only continental breakfast was available, but we were pleased with what was on offer (except for lack of the traditional English marmalade in the jam selection) and we left well sated.

Pros: The building is beautiful Some of the furnishings were lovely (four poster bed, cushioned headboard) The staff were helpful Cons: We booked the suite, mainly because it was advertised to have a queen sized bed and my partner is 6ft 5. When we arrived it was a very dated room, nothing like the pictures AT ALL! Not only that it was a double bed not a queen. To top it off the electrics were dodgy, the glass in the door cracked and the room not very clean. We mentioned this after we arrived and were moved rooms to a room with a queen sized bed. We had a choice of two. The room was a bit more modern but still not great. The fridge was dirty, the bathroom dated, the window was cracked and a blind did not open. The restaurant was closed (we did arrive fairly late but were still surprised it was closed) so we had to get delivery. We didnt bother with breakfast as it finishes at 9:00.

the hotel had single glazing which opened on to a very main road, we were room 17 (I can't speak for the otherside of the hotel - it was unbelievably loud traffic throughout the night, 18 wheelers revving past and motorbike gangs. Also the fire alarm went off at 7am on the Sunday which was not ideal. The shower leaked everywhere, the sinks taps were so close to the sink you could barely get your hands under them.
the hotel had single glazing which opened on to a very main road, we were room 17 (I can't speak for the otherside of the hotel - it was unbelievably loud traffic throughout the night, 18 wheelers revving past and motorbike gangs. Also the fire alarm went off at 7am on the Sunday which was not ideal. The shower leaked everywhere, the sinks taps were so close to the sink you could barely get your hands under them.

Avoid at all costs!! I booked for a 6-day stay and after 1 day my training in Bicester was cancelled and I had to leave. I talked to the person at the reception and she said that I didn't need to worry that they would refund the 5 days that I did not stay there. It's been a month now and I did not receive a refund. They don't reply to my emails nor answer my phone calls. So, to sum up, they stole my money. Unbelievably unprofessional staff! Dark car park with a lot of beer cans and bottles on the floor, Terrible old and smelly rooms, uncomfortable beds and terrible shower. It amazes me that Hotels.com have these kinds of hotels on their list.

Check-in was quick, from what I understand there's only one person that is running the whole thing. Wasn't the friendliest but what to expect when he's the only one doing everything. The room smelt musty, and used shower gel bottles were left on our shower from the previous person staying in there. Didn't use the kettle or the cups as they didn't look like they were cleaned properly. The room overall could do with some TLC, looks nothing like the photos on the website. The plus is the location of the hotel, it's 30 minutes from Oxford town centre, 15 minutes to Blenheim Palace and only 7 minutes to Bicester Village. Oh, and the fire alarm went off at 5:59 one morning and we were all left out in the courtyard with no information. It then continued to go off most of the day. Thankfully we were heading out as I would have gone crazy. I feel that the rooms could do with a mini-fridge and an update. The lack of care is letting the place down.

Checked in early evening with no problem, free upgrade to suite on 2 floors with a four poster bed! Some of the complaints in previous reviews seem to expect Premier Inn facilities forgetting that this is a ex-16th century coaching inn and it certainly shows its age, but it is a lot cheaper. Yes, the websites need updating as they still give the impression with photographs that it has restraunt & bar facilities, but it does state they are 'coming soon'. The decor is dated and rather tired but the gentleman who checked us in and was in attendance during breakfast was very helpful.

Love this little gem of a hotel. Quirky and all the rooms are very different but always comfortable. Staff are always very helpful and welcoming and breakfast and wifi is included which is a nice touch at this price range. Don't expect 5* or a perfectly maintained hotel but you will have a comfortable and great value stay in a nice location with plenty of free parking.

I had a lovely stay. The location was perfect for me and the receptionist or manager was really helpful and thoughtful. He gave me a room with a bath as requested, helped carry my luggage and provided a quiet space for a conference call with tea and coffee. I couldn’t fault the service. And an ample continental breakfast was included in the room rate.

Poor check in, guy on counter not interested, no milk or tea bags in room, stated breakfast started at 7am, got there at 7.15, room in darkness, nothing laid out, not even coffee, no one anywhere to be found, couldn't check out properly and get VAT receipt...wouldnt stay here again

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The person on reception had zero customer service skills. Made no effort to make us feel welcome. Wouldn’t show any flexibility. Breakfast ended at 9.30 on a Sunday and was only continental anyway. Looked awful. Door knocked literally at 11am saying it was check out. The bathroom had empty bottles of shower gel, soap etc. The room had damp on the walls and the beds were cheap and uncomfortable. My advice, pay the extra money and stay at the Premier Inn down the road. That’s what I’ll be doing next time.

Excellent value for money at a beautiful countryside location, with easy parking. Room was clean, bed was comfi, and the shower worked really well. Breakfast was complimentary, with a variety of toasts, butter, jams, cheese, cereals, fruit, fresh juices and muffins. Both the receptionist and the other gentleman were really lovely and helpful. We arrived very early at the accommodation and the receptionist very kindly let us have the room early, so that we could get changed for our event. Very pleased.

Guy on reception friendly. Car park is across from a very busy road. You take your life in your hands! Building quaint but very run down. Continual breakfast was probably the poorest fare I have ever been offered. Traffic very noisy, no air con so don’t stay in hot weather.

I was happy with cleanliness and tea coffee making facilities. Parking was across the road and ample. You have to use directions supplied as postcode sends you in the opposite direction. My room was close to the main road but the noise wasn’t an issue.

Nice place with character. Location was ideal for us. Only gripes was the room was very cold and breakfast had limited choice. Upon booking in the room was warm but from that point and the next two days, the heating did not switch on leaving the bathroom damp and cold along with bedroom being very cold. I did mention the lack of heating but as the heating was ok in the hotel, front of house did not take on board my concernes.

Lovely room, comfy bed and lovely staff. The pub is no longer open so no food or drink available. Communal areas a bit tired, but lovely dining room for continental breakfast. I took a picnic that I had in the lovely courtyard at I read from reviews the pub part is shut. Very handy for motorways and Bicester Shopping Village.

Disappointed that there was not a bar or evening meal available.All in not bad value for less than £60 The downside was thenow ubiquitous charge for our dog. £20 for what? Nothing. He has his own bed, his own food, doesn't shed hair. This is becoming all to common now

This property is nothing like advertised - it is extremely run down and in need of complete renovation x the pub side of it is shut so no hope of food or drink . It’s very very disappointing and we were unable to have a refund so had no option but to stay x the bedroom wasn’t too bad once you got past the musty entrance although only one towel for two people ( could of asked for more I suppose ) . The receptionist was in fact quite helpful and very apologetic but couldn’t refund us x the pub side was shut so no food or drink x the whole place is very sadly rundown but could be amazing x it’s very grubby and damp - although the heating was working in the bedroom x I would not recommend this place to anyone

The place is tired and needs a major overhaul. The bedrooms are tiny and the shower over the bath arrangement is so 10 years ago. Breakfast was adequate for pre-packed stuff. Nothing gluten free for my wife apart from a yoghurt. The price charged is for a better quality place. I wouldn't stay again and would advise any friends to stay.

On arrival informed no food facilities and that’s not on the web site, breakfast not served till 08:00 continetal only Room dirty, shower piss poor, toilet won’t flush more than once in 30 mins, heating does not work and has to Ask for a heater, Fire alywent off twice due to other guests smoking and nothing said to them , talking by owners out side window at 23.20 ans told To go way Overall a poor experience and one I will not return to EVER

On arrival, be aware, this place looks nothing like its pictures. Those pictures would have been taken in its 'prime' presumably many years ago & very little modernisation or decoration has been done since. The staff were friendly and helpful & there was some local info printed out and displayed. The room was basic, warm, and clean.. to an extent, if you didnt look too hard. But there were lots of ants around (in the room). A fridge is supplied but not very powerful, and the bathroom very dated but with a nice powerful shower. The car park is over the road, but we didnt find that much of an issue. Very few (no) amenities on site, or in the village at all. No bar, restaurant or shop, the nearest being about 4/5 miles away. Continental breakfast was limited to bread (toaster supplied), filter coffee (not great) a small selection of cereals & individually wrapped (long life) pain au chocolate or croissants. We chose this place due to the price being very competitive compared to others in the area, so some of this comes a little surprise. "It is what it is". It could just do with an overhaul, chopping down the waist high weeds from the front, tidy the outside area and carpark, and new signage as the faded, peeling signs are easy to miss and much more. We would probably stay here again in the hope that they will be actioning some of the delapidation works, freshening it up, and making it what it could be. But if this isn't done, then no, we wouldn't return. Which is a shame.

Terrible service from this hotel. I could no longer stay at this hotel due to a family emergency occuring on the day I was supposed to check in. Contacted the hotel to which they refused even a partial refund. Very disappointed when you’ve paid £125 for 1 night ! Will not be booking here again.
