The Stevens Motel

Parking was safe , much older motel in the process of being remodeled.

The Stevens Motel felt like home for the week. Super clean rooms, friendly staff, dated but comfortable amenities, and convenient parking all made it the perfect retreat. I plan on staying any time I have to travel back to Penn State.

The staff is wonderful, the location is great, parking is easy, the beds were comfortable, the price was very fair, rooms were quiet and overall was satisfactory. This has been my family's go-to place when visiting Penn State. This time I noticed a few things in both of the rooms we booked that I wished were in a bit better condition but overall I will stay there again.

The Steven's Motel looks like it never stepped out of 1985. Room decor and exteriors were rather shabby, wifi was not great, amenities were lacking, and the check-in lobby area was quite disgusting (brown and smelly fish tank, plus an overturned potted plant with dirt all over the floor). The room could also have been a bit cleaner (dirty windows/screens, stained blankets). The beds were comfortable, but the pillows weren't great. Parking was fine. Good location overall. For a budget motel, it sufficed, but the whole place could use some serious updating. And we booked online, so we were committed to the room; but if we had just driven up and wanted a place to stay, we would have chosen somewhere else had we seen the state of the lobby in advance.

It worked -beds were clean & comfortable . We could park by our room but others took over the parking spots but we were able to park close. They had no ice at all , the frig froze everything that was in it . The plug outlets were very (too) worn & plugs either fell out or just didn’t work . But it was very affordable .

Convenient location, quiet and easy parking. Bed pillows were too hard but that could be just me. Everything was clean and everyone was helpful.

Staff was nice (if young). Price was right. It is VERY old and parking is tight. Room was clean but worn. When I opened the door, the wallpaper flopped away from the wall and then flopped back onto it. No hot water when we were there. And the doors are flimsy with very old deadbolts. Temperature control was zip. Room was super warm and a/c did nothing.

Most definitely needs an update. Things you use appear clean but windows, lamp base, blinds very dusty. A lot of junk around property.

This is an older hotel, but is maintained very well, rooms extremely clean. Will definitely stay again.

This was rated on 9 on Expedia. No. Maybe a 5, max. Peeling wallpaper, mold under bathroom upper wallpaper, cracked toilet seat, faucet handle in shower popped off easily. Not good. Can’t recommend.

Desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was cleaned daily.

The area is safe, and it's only a very short ride to Penn State's campus. Added bonus is it's right next to the Waffle House, so very convenient to pick up breakfast. The beds are very comfortable, and the proprietor and her family are very nice to deal with. Great prices, too! This isn't the fancy Hyatt hotel with all the amenities, but it's exactly what I'm looking for to visit my college son.

We enjoy the price and convenience of this hotel. It's always clean when we stay.

Three of us stayed for two nights for a sporting event in the area. Prior reviews stated the motel was clean but unfortunately, our experience wasn't the same. Our room smelled like smoke/mustiness to the point my daughter felt nauseous. There were stains on the walls of the bathroom and the bedding. Occupants of rooms next door were drinking and loud outside on Sat night which made our family feel unsafe. The woman at the front desk was friendly and very helpful but we won't stay here again.

Stayed here moving My daughter out of Penn State dorm. This Motel was just down the street from campus great location and price. It’s a motel not a hotel so there are not many amenities but I only needed a place to sleep. Like others said it is dated but it was super clean It seems family owned and they seem to care for the place very well. The staff I have were all super nice and accommodating. Room I had has two double bed’s microwave and fridge. Again super clean just dated I didn’t mind again I only needed a clean bed and shower. Bed was very comfortable same with pillows. Shower had decent pressure and hot water was plenty waffle restaurant is right across the parking lot and other places to eat are very close. I would stay here again and plan to in August when I mover her back in Penn State.

The room was a bit dated and there was some mold on the ceiling in the bathroom but the lady at the front desk was wonderful and the parking was great as well as it was quiet.

The lobby was untidy, and the Wi-Fi signal did not reach our room well, constantly disconnecting from our devices. The room itself had a strange odor, and to make matters worse, I discovered a flea between the blanket and sheets, and found another one on my foot the following morning. When I reported this to the woman at the front desk she did not seem particularly concerned. She offered a brief apology and said they would take care of it, but it felt more like a formality than genuine concern. No discount or refund was offered.

The room was basic and dated. The basic needs are met. No room key..there is a digital key pad which is nice. Helpful to have a fridge in the room. Staff was friendly.

I was looking for an inexpensive overnight option for a road trip. I had not stayed in a motel for a while, but it worked out just fine. The room was not large, and the bathroom in particular might be tight for a large person. However, the Wi-Fi was excellent, the water was hot, the air conditioning worked well, and the beds were reasonably comfortable. I even found a lovely hiking path as part of the Penn State arboretum within half a mile of the motel, so was able to stretch my legs after a long drive. I would consider staying here again.

The location from Main campus Penn State could not be better! Front desk is very nice. I only took off stars because the rooms are very outdated and even the one that said non smoking smelled like smoke. I still slept very well.

They were very nice and it was clean. It was also a good price for a busy weekend. The room needs to be updated. It is very outdated. It was hot in the room. We turned on the air, but the air conditioner was extremely old and had ice on it in the middle of the night. Luckily we were able to open a window. We were told they are getting new air conditioners. We realized they had the heat on, too. It was a warm night in the spring. The Wifi did not work the first night we were there, but the morning we were leaving it was working. The motel was fine for what we needed - it was clean and as mentioned the office staff were nice. The walk across to the Waffle Shop was great!

Old style motel, semi quirky design (in a good way). Nice folks at the front desk. Now, for the poor part : Room was a stifling 80 degrees when I checked-in; so I re-set the heat to the mid 60's (I like it cool for sleep). 5 hours later the room was still about 80, so i turned the heat off altogether and turned on the A/C (February '24). The A/C blower did not work, cool air just escaped out in very small amounts. So, at 2:30am, it was still hot in the room, so I opened the window, which helped a litte. At 10am it was till 77 degrees in the room (outside was about 32). The tv did not work; appeared to never have been set-up; could not get any channels at all, despite getting directions from the office. did manage to get a Netflix ad, which informed me that I had to pay to watch it. So, no tv. Front office had no solution for this, or the heat in the room. Also, the fridge did not work at all. I bought a couple of sodas & water and put them in the fridge. The fridge did not run at all. I stayed here previously and had a good experience, but this one was lousy; hard to sleep in the hot room, no working fridge and no working tv. Talked about it to the office that night and the next morning at checkout; they were sympathetic but offered no discount on that stay or a discount on a future stay. Not even an offer of a cold soda or water.

Air conditioning was not on upon arrival and could not keep up with the demand of the room. Bathroom window would not close so heard parking lot noise all night. The shower was always dripping and the drain was plugged so you could not have two showers in a row or it would overflow on the floor. Outlets were minimal and not all usable. So glad we had our own extension cords and fan to try and get some sleep.

Extremely nice, friendly, and accommodating staff. Had coffee(!). This place is appearance dated and no frills. But it is clean, safe, and comfy. The staff will bend over backward to help you out. The location cannot be beat- is a mile from campus and walkable to restaurants, etc. I had a great experience here.

Stayed here while moving my son into Penn State. Conveniently located close to the college but outside of the chaotic area during move in. Quiet at night, and had a place for breakfast directly next door. The room was very clean, and the owner was very nice. The room is basic, but the beds were comfortable and the rate was great, which was exactly what I was looking for! Will be looking to stay here again for whenever I'm visiting Penn State!

This little, private motel reminded me of road trips I took as a student in the 1990s - friendly, clean, outdated in its decor but comfortable and conveniently located to visit our son at Penn State - it's a 30 min walk to downtown and 20 min to campus. There is an excellent breakfast restaurant next door and a good Greek restaurant as well. The manager/owner of the motel was very sweet and helpful, the room big and clean. And the price is of course much more affordable than many other places in State College.

Basic accommodations, but inexpensive and fantastic location. Property could use updates, but best value in town by a long shot.

The Stevens Motel was the perfect weekend stay for my girlfriend and I! Chris really helped make the stay feel very homey and comfortable, while making everything easy! Being right next to The Waffle Shop, it makes the location perfect for waking up and walking to go get a great breakfast :)

Steven’s Hotel is one of the more original hotels in State College. It is an older, non-chain hotel that is small, does not serve breakfast, but a great breakfast restaurant is on the other side of the parking lot. The rooms are clean, quiet, comfortable and well maintained. It is convenient to Penn State campus and downtown.

Came for a college tour for daughter this was convenient, it was quiet. It was dated and bathroom was small but it was safe and easy. Had to drive to campus wasn't really walkable but we had a great time. The breakfast restaurant next door was super convenient and delicious.

This is a very nice place to stay. The staff was very helpful. The Original Waffle House is next door.

Convenient location to penn state. Waffle place next door was good food but long lines. Room needs to have updated furnishings. A fresh coat of white paint would brighten up the room. Bathroom has fresh very white towels, good water pressure, eco friendly shampoo packets, but NO hair dryer. Beds ok. Would stay there again.
