Spacious loft, dishwasher, washing machine and kitchen with big fridge is great if you want to reorganise during a road trip. Parking is very convenient too. After calling about the code to open the doors, service was really friendly and swift. I did not like the lack of a duvet on the bed. I found a throw in the closet, but that's not kingsize so I woke up cold. Lighting in the loft is terrible and fans and (neighbours) water piping noises are pretty loud. Door of 211 feels flimsy, light from the hallway coming through under the door, we blocked it with luggage. Town was dark and cold beginning of March after 5 pm, I would not recommend the Lofts for the price paid.

What a neat concept for a hotel. The room was beautiful and exceptionally clean. The keyless entry was very convenient as well. The attached restaurants were excellent as well. Overall fantastic experience and would recommend 10/10.

Beautifully restored building and nicely appointed suite. I chose this property due to it\'s location and self-sufficiency, not requiring me to leave the building for food service. Reduced star rating as follows: ✓As a light sleeper, I could hear someone snoring in a nearby room ✓Arriving on a dark, rainy night after traveling all day 1) it was difficult to find the property based on "Loft" signage which is not visible from the street 2) signage for parking was also somewhat obscure and 3) locating the actual entrance required walking around the building (in the rain) 4) no person on duty after 2:30 pm to answer questions/provide info (check-in after 3:00 pm) ✓website has not been updated to indicate that there is no restaurant service, as the (attached) West End Diner is closed indefinitely...per the sign on the door. We enjoyed our 3-night stay at the lofts during a basketball tournament held at the College. It was spring break so it was quiet in town (and the lofts). We enjoyed Main St and the options for coffee and restaurants. We loved the extra space in our loft since my husband was working and found it very comfortable and fun. CVS and Kroger are very close. Parking was very easy every day and night

Great downtown setting. There is a lot of history in the building and they did a nice job of maintaining the historical feel, but giving the room nice amenities. We ate dinner at the onsite restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Cute place, enter by passcode which was new to us. Hard to find from Main Street, and parking was a mystery at first. We weren’t really sure where to go even after we parked. Once we found the entrance and our room everything was fine. Would come again.

Beautiful lofts, built into the inside of an older building. The inside has a bit of a rustic feel, with modern upgrades. The bed was comfortable, I prefer a soft bed and it was a bit more firm than I prefer. The restaurant/bar on the first floor is closed indefinitely but there are plenty of options within a quick walk. Between breweries, pizza, or a sports eatery, it is a cute town with lots of charm.

Accidentally parked in wrong spot. Got towed hit with 220 dollar towing fine. Had to figure out how to get vehicle out of impound by the way cash only. Seems odd. Sounds like a racket to me. Very disappointed with entire situation. Came to move daughter in for college and this is how guests get treated! Disappointing!

Everything was clean and inviting. Entry into the building was easy with a provided code. My first thought walking into the room was “I could live here!” It’s quiet in the building, and Emily (front desk) and housekeeping were very friendly and professional. I’d stay here again.

We've stayed at hotel several times with positive stays. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the overall cleanliness of the common area as well as our efficiency. We were also disappointed with the communication or lack thereof from the manager regarding our issues we had during our stay. We likely will choose a different location for future business stays when in the area.

The room, location & cleanliness were awesome! We loved the history of the hotel. Minus one star for the very thin portions between the rooms. . A family came in about 12am and sounded as if they were right in our room. We could clearly hear every word that was said. Unfortunately this lasted in & off for the next several hours. Just wished they would have insulated the walls during renovations.

The Loft hotel is a very nice place to stay and clean. I love the inside of the building. The only problem we had was hearing the people next to us. Around 1:30am our neighbors were talking and it was so loud and clear it was like they were in the room with us. It was awful trying to sleep.

Let me just say that they had me the second I opened the door to the suite with it’s breathtaking wood vaulted ceilings…the skylight in the ceiling…the industrial design with it’s sleek modern finishes. Did I mention the views from our loft’s windows? From the steeple of the church across the street against the background of fall leaves foliage to the garden lights just outside of our window that were sprawled across the street below to the outside dining area of the cozy cafe (that serves an absolutely scrumptious breakfast) situated just below our bedroom window’s view, I found myself captivated by the almost magical scene the whole property set. I can not say enough about the impeccable cleanliness of the loft. I accidentally left my sweater upon check out of which a sweet soul that tended to the property quickly located me in the parking lot with my sweater in tow to ensure I didn’t leave there without returning my garment. I have already booked my second stay in less than a week! And looking forward to returning tomorrow 🙂

There is a significance difference in quality between the first floor and second-floor rooms. Even though this is a queen suite, the bed is a full (not queen), the ceilings are low, the bathroom is smaller, the floors are concrete and there is a musty smell. Huge difference from the rooms I stayed in previously on the second floor (and I’m paying more this time because of Tech graduation, presumably). I was disappointed, especially after talking it up to my husband and others.

This is a very nice place, walking distance to things in town. Check in was easy they just text me my entry code for the front door and the room door. The room was very nice and clean. Plenty of space for two people, also included a washer and dryer, full kitchen, and a living room area. My only complaints are, the bedroom had blinds that even when closed at night still left a lot of the Wells Fargo bank light through, and I like to sleep in dark, that light in the bank was very bright and right near the window. A long with the blinds, it be nice if there was some blackout curtains. This does not take away from the room though, just my personal preference when sleeping. The other thing was no tv in the bed room, and the tv in the living room has a card to use Hulu live television, but someone before us must have logged in so the lofts login was not in there. It was too much work to try and figure out one if my own logins so I airplayed some television for my phone. Overall very nice place, it was a nice stop over on our very long travel trip, and we will definitely stay again in the future for that long trip!

Literally no signage and also big signs that say the wrong thing like Blue Ridge Tavern. It took me 10 minutes just to find the place and I had to ask somebody on the street to do it. And now I can’t check in. There’s no phone support and I have no idea which room I am in. So my check-in hasn’t really happened. I’m gonna have to go to a Comfort Inn.

Everything was clean and inviting. Entry into the building was easy with a provided code. My first thought walking into the room was “I could live here!” It’s quiet in the building, and Emily (front desk) and housekeeping were very friendly and professional. I’d stay here again.

This was my first experience at the Lofts at Downtown Salem and I was overly impressed by numerous items. The security of the building was what caught my attention upon arrival. The decor and charm of the interior “lobby” area as well as the room was well appointed. The accommodations were very comfortable with control of the HVAC system and a ceiling fan in the living and bedroom areas. The kitchen and bathroom were very clean and had modern appliances and cabinets. The queen size bed was very comfortable and there were ample pillows! Coffee, tea bags, and travel toiletries were also provided in the room. Finally, the communication received from the property was promptly received, easy to understand and comprehensive for everything needed for the stay. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a place when in the Salem/Roanoke area.

Literally no signage and also big signs that say the wrong thing like Blue Ridge Tavern. It took me 10 minutes just to find the place and I had to ask somebody on the street to do it. And now I can’t check in. There’s no phone support and I have no idea which room I am in. So my check-in hasn’t really happened. I’m gonna have to go to a Comfort Inn.

We wanted to stay within walking distance of Roanoke College and this was a fabulous spot where we could walk there and all through the sweet town of Salem. Beautiful space with character and well appointed design. We were very happy with our stay here.

What a neat concept for a hotel. The room was beautiful and exceptionally clean. The keyless entry was very convenient as well. The attached restaurants were excellent as well. Overall fantastic experience and would recommend 10/10.

Beautifully restored building and nicely appointed suite. I chose this property due to it\'s location and self-sufficiency, not requiring me to leave the building for food service. Reduced star rating as follows: ✓As a light sleeper, I could hear someone snoring in a nearby room ✓Arriving on a dark, rainy night after traveling all day 1) it was difficult to find the property based on "Loft" signage which is not visible from the street 2) signage for parking was also somewhat obscure and 3) locating the actual entrance required walking around the building (in the rain) 4) no person on duty after 2:30 pm to answer questions/provide info (check-in after 3:00 pm) ✓website has not been updated to indicate that there is no restaurant service, as the (attached) West End Diner is closed indefinitely...per the sign on the door. I received numerous text messages welcoming me and providing door code, but neglecting to provide the previously itemized info. Nice place but disappointed that it wasn\'t as described.

We were looking for a pet-friendly location with a little more than the highway exit locations. We found the Lofts just a few miles off the highway in the old part of town, which was perfect. The property was perfect, very well-appointed, and had everything we needed, including cooking and laundry in our suite. There is plenty of food and beverage options, steps from the hotel.

Great downtown setting. There is a lot of history in the building and they did a nice job of maintaining the historical feel, but giving the room nice amenities. We ate dinner at the onsite restaurant. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Would definitely stay again.

it's a really unique place to stay exactly 35 miles from Blacksburg. two really great places to eat breakfast right there, which is always good.

Beautiful lofts, built into the inside of an older building. The inside has a bit of a rustic feel, with modern upgrades. The bed was comfortable, I prefer a soft bed and it was a bit more firm than I prefer. The restaurant/bar on the first floor is closed indefinitely but there are plenty of options within a quick walk. Between breweries, pizza, or a sports eatery, it is a cute town with lots of charm.

Very nice quiet place! We loved it and will be back at the end of the month! Salem has so much to offer! It’s such a cute town with good restaurants, book store, antiques etc. we walked to get pizza for dinner and to shop! Check out this great place to stay while your visiting Salem!

such an interesting property... i found myself creating a new story of this place every time I pulled into the parking lot. For a new person, at the back of this building, is a lovely deck loaded with socializing areas of chairs. Clean all good. Then if you look in the window there is a 'dude dream garage' filled with elite vehicles. Here is the story I have created as to how this property came to be: Honey1: I need you to find some indoor storage for our vintage cars. Honey2: I did and its so expensive!! Lets just build our own. Honey1: What? thats crazy. Honey2: No its not, and why don't we build ourselves a nice apartment so we can hang out, party, have a fancy vehicle meet up spot while we are at it. Honey1: Well if we are going to build one apartment, then the kids are going to want one too. But they don't all get along so well, so I think we are going to have to build each kid their own apartment. And then there's your folks... my folks... your sister in law loves the corvettes too... she will need one. Then there is Phil our neighbor, you know how he gets, always wanting to know whats up... Honey2: OK so build about 12 units, they will all have beams that are so cool, but the housekeeper won't be able to reach out and clean the dust that accumulates... maybe that could be what Phil contributes to this: ladder cleaning dust guy. Ok lets do it! News: AIRBNB owner creates vintage car storage that pays for itself. xo
