Ok, so there was an issue with the room when arrived but after speaking with the hotel manager this was very quickly resolved whilst we enjoyed a complimentary drink and took ourselves on a quick tour of the stunning Rudloe Arms and grounds. The main building and its decor is fantastic and worth a trip just to see it. Later that evening, we had a dinner reservation where we were greeted warmly by a really attentive restaurant crew. The food was perfectly cooked (potted pig, chicken pate to start; for mains duck and steak and chocolate mousse for dessert) with sides. Breakfast was equally as good! Secure parking and easy to find. We'll definitely be returning.

Room was a delight. Stunning view. Very welcoming and extremely comfortable and clean. Value for money. Only thing I’d say is drink prices can be a little expensive. Small tonic £5. Other than that was exceptional.

If you are booking a Shepherds Hut, be aware that there is no toilet, electricity or water in them. You have to walk to a shared ablutions block where you will find 1 shower, sink and toilet, with no lock on the dorr. This is not made clear in the details!

The hotel stay was good stay .The building had a charming historical vibe, although the grounds appeared slightly worn down. However, this was not a significant issue. The restaurants offered delightful meals with an interesting menu, and the food was good . The staff were all helpful and friendly, which is incredibly important. I would recommend staying in the main house, as the walk back and forth during a rainy weekend was less than ideal. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the lounge areas felt cold and unwelcoming, but it is understandable that they didn't have the fires on at this time of the year. Overall, it was a nice stay, and the location was perfect for visiting Bath and Tetbury. The toiletries provided were of good quality, and the only suggestion I have is to include bottled water in the bedrooms. Additionally, the door to the block away from the main building could use some tender loving care.

We had a very good deal of dinner bed and breakfast. Food on both occasions was excellent. Hôtel itself is full of interesting wall art and sculptures and our room was furnished with Mouseman classics all of which made for a very pleasant stay. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Details that could improve our experience in this country house hotel below. Have Tea and coffee facilities in the room particularly as there is no room service. I like to wake up coffee before I go to breakfast. I was very disappointed that the bar did not serve any champagne by the glass only Prosecco!!! I look forward to a glass or two when we stay in a hotel of this standard. Opening price for a fairly average bottle is £150 which is priced out of the market for most people especially if just one of you is drinking it. Extra charges for food wasn’t really a problem as the half board stay was excellent value. However £5 extra for a fruit juice at breakfast is simply silly and unnecessary. Check out 10.30 is too early for a weekend stay and means you rush the breakfast experience.

Our stay was terrible. When I booked the hotel I thought we were staying in a twin room but that was not the case. We were put in a hut outside with no electricity or a toilet in the hut. I asked to change has I have long Covid and asthma but there were no rooms available. On hotels.com there is no pictures on the website showing the huts. I think this is wrong advertising and we were sold something that we didn’t want or agree to has it was not stated a hut outside. If I had know all of this then I would not have booked the hotel. The reception weren’t very helpful. I tried to phone on Friday evening and Saturday morning but no answer and was informed that the phone was on silent. They took my payment before telling us what we were staying in. I would not have paid or stayed there if I had known our room was outside. Lovely, quirky and sexy main house with excellent food and service (but few digestifs and limited by glass options) but no path to our “shepherd’s” hut on rails. Wandered around in dark unsuccessfully to find shower and toilet access. Not evident this morning either. Huts did not lock, and smoke did not evacuate well so left window open overnight.

We were there for a special occasion that the hotel were aware of. We were alllocated a room in the outside building. It stunk, wasn’t cleaned, the double doors didn’t open fully and it was a sweltering hot day and night. Tv didn’t work. When I called the reception off my mobile (as there’s no phones in the room) they had no body from maintainence or another member of staff that could fix the door or the tv. Quite abrupt in their tone. The room was practically in the car park so we had constant noise, slamming of the doors and smoke coming into our room. That room should definitely not be in use. Best part of the stay was the dinner such a beautiful setting and delicious food but felt hurried and rushed by staff which was a shame… the grounds are beautiful although lots of building work going on. Shame as had such high hopes

We had a great stay. Our dinner was excellent & we couldn’t fault a thing. Our room was in the annexe and was lovely, clean & a good size. The main house is full of interest art, photos & antiques. Only negative was the damp/fousty smell in the entrance & lounges. This wouldn’t stop us returning which we definitely will do!

There were just a lot of disappointing elements here. The room hasn’t been properly cleaned - people’s belongings still under the bed and units. The room wasn’t properly cleaned during my stay, rubbish just piled up on a side unit. There was no wifi in the room. The bathroom was nice as were the trees outside.

We booked a main luxe room as a bit of a treat, we wanted more space and a bath. We were looking foward to a touch of luxury and a good breakfast. On arrival we initially drove back out as we thought we had gone to the wrong place, as it was so dark and the signage was terrible. After a bit of wondering around we worked out wheree to check in. Our first problem arose from not having a credit card to guarantee the room, they wouldn't accept a debit card. I realise this isn't unheard of but we have never had this problem before. So we went off and sorted that out, came back and finished checking in. We got sent off to the annex building and vaguely pointed in the direction of our room. No offer of help with luggage. So off we went in the dark and wondered around some more to find the room. Annex building is rather scruffy. Got to the room, no bath, a bit stale smelling, and rather dusty. I try to check our booking confirmation only to find no wifi. Eventual manage to get on line and compare what we had booked to the room we were sent to which was obviously completely wrong. Back to reception to be told they had/hotels.com had over booked the luxe rooms and we had been down graded to a cosy double. Fine mistakes happen, can we get a refund for the extra we paid. No we have to raise a complaint through hotels.com, tricky with no wifi! To finish off breakfast service poor and slow, the bread for the toast was pre sliced hovis, and everything was cold. All in all pretty rubbish!

The hotel and grounds were very cool and quirky. Lots of unusual artwork which gave it a great atmosphere. The breakfast and dinner were outstanding, absolutely delicious and Marco showed an appearance. The staff in the restaurant are friendly and provide a great service. The bedroom was nice with a really large bathroom. The only negative was the room wasnt particularly clean and had no tea or coffee literally nothing. Also we had a roll top bath but the shower head and hose were missing. The reception staff need training as they are not particularly welcoming and this is obviously your first impression of the hotel. Overall it was a great stay, in a stunning area with delicious food, give it a try!

The communal areas looked tired but room was lovely and very clean. Very comfortable but very confused by the £2 “cover charge” at breakfast. What for? Left a bad taste. Shame.

One of strangest properties we have ever stayed at. Rooms at dark. Carpet in our room was hemp and had a strange smell. Room had 10 posters on the . All the same. Package included breakfast & dinner. Breakfast you had to pay extra for most hotel dishes and £10 for orange juice. Dinner, limited menu which we got tired of as we were there 4 nights.Same menu every night. Wines very expensive £55 cheapest bottle. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will not be staying here again.

The property itself was nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the experience that we had, that was about all of the positives. There were no signs in the hotel or on the grounds to tell you where reception was so when we arrived it was unclear where we had to go to check in. We only found the reception as a member of staff was walking by after we had wandered around for a bit and it wasn't obvious that it was reception. Once we were checked in and given the key to our room, we found the bathroom hadn't been cleaned and there was hair, dirty towels and cigarettes in the bathroom. We went back to reception to ask for a new room and whilst they were apologetic, the replacement room we were given had someone else's bag in it so had to go back to reception to make sure that we didn't have the keys to someone else's room. When checking in, we were also asked to confirm our dinner booking which we initially made for 7pm and was emailed the day before confiming if we were still attending (which I responded yes to) only to be advised they didn't have my booking and had to go for another time (6:30pm). This itself was fine, but there were still plenty of seats had we have gone for our original time. Whilst dinner and breakfast were included in the price, the food was pretty average which was a bit disappointing given the owner of the hotel. Overall, it wasn't the best hotel experience and I can't recommend staying here based on the above.

Our room was nice and cosy. Restaurant was warm and welcoming, as were the staff also.

I stayed on a Dinner BnB rate which was great value for money. My second stay here and it won't be my last. Rooms are just fantastic, as was the evening dinner :-) Long gravel driveway which was the only down side as you could hear folk leaving in the morning early. But apart from that 10/10 A star from me

The hotel and grounds were very cool and quirky. Lots of unusual artwork which gave it a great atmosphere. The breakfast and dinner were outstanding, absolutely delicious and Marco showed an appearance. The staff in the restaurant are friendly and provide a great service. The bedroom was nice with a really large bathroom. The only negative was the room wasnt particularly clean and had no tea or coffee literally nothing. Also we had a roll top bath but the shower head and hose were missing. The reception staff need training as they are not particularly welcoming and this is obviously your first impression of the hotel. Overall it was a great stay, in a stunning area with delicious food, give it a try!

The communal areas looked tired but room was lovely and very clean. Very comfortable but very confused by the £2 “cover charge” at breakfast. What for? Left a bad taste. Shame.

Room was a delight. Stunning view. Very welcoming and extremely comfortable and clean. Value for money. Only thing I’d say is drink prices can be a little expensive. Small tonic £5. Other than that was exceptional.

Check in took 30+ minutes as only 1 member of staff to book in multiple parties. My room has no wifi despite being advertised as having it and building work ongoing in the room next door.

This property definitely has a lot of character! The main house room we stayed in was lovely and spacious, very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The staff were accommodating and friendly. Food was great. All in all great value for what we paid.

Hotel and grounds are beautiful, as was the room itself. Carpet in the room was aweful, make sure you take slippers or in-door shoes with you, it actually hurts if you walk on it barefoot. If you are staying in the main building, you dont get a shower in the room, but you do get wifi. Polar opposite in the outbuilding. Dont be drawn in by the seeming free dinner option, the food is quite frankly the worst food i have ever had, but i did not book for this purpose, hence my 4 star review. Eat elsewhere!

AWFUL, booked this hotel for an anniversary through Expedia, we drove a 5 hour round trip only to be told on arrival that our booking was cancelled, no apology or resolution offered, so had no choice but to leave, then waited over 3 weeks for a refund.

Arrived as a couple at 3pm. Room was freezing cold. Went to reception and the lady did not know why. So was sending maintenance. They didnt arrive.We then stayed in the room for over an hour. Went back to reception and was told maintenance set a timer for 4.30pm. Was made to feel it was our problem. Stayed in room until 5.30pm and still freezing so asked for another room but said they were full which i think was a lie!!! So handed keys back and left. Now refused a refund as receptionist said we were rude!!! Would not be rude to anyone... Def if you go be very careful on pointing anything out.

Ok, so there was an issue with the room when arrived but after speaking with the hotel manager this was very quickly resolved whilst we enjoyed a complimentary drink and took ourselves on a quick tour of the stunning Rudloe Arms and grounds. The main building and its decor is fantastic and worth a trip just to see it. Later that evening, we had a dinner reservation where we were greeted warmly by a really attentive restaurant crew. The food was perfectly cooked (potted pig, chicken pate to start; for mains duck and steak and chocolate mousse for dessert) with sides. Breakfast was equally as good! Secure parking and easy to find. We'll definitely be returning.

The signage around the proerty was non existent causing people to go in the wrong directions, there was no wifi offered. payment systems was nto working. reception and the hotel did nto open till 8am and the staff were too busy to help if they turned up at all.

Food was very good, but unfortunately the experience was let down by atrocious service. Dinner service was rushed. I asked for an extra two minutes to look at the menu, and was told they needed the tables. One of the waiters was particularly surly, and I was made to feel like everything I asked for was too much. He was borderline rude when we turned up for our table 30 minutes late, having been told by another member of staff that it was fine to relax and enjoy a drink in the bar. £8 for a can of moretti with no other choice, very poor. Breakfast was included, although I was charged for the kippers I had. I would say less than 10 seconds elapsed between me taking my last mouthful, and all the plates being taken away, including my toast. So my included breakfast amounted to a cup of tea and half a slice of toast. What a great shame as the food itself was very good. Also the food was served piping hot, which is always good to see.

The property was lovely. A wonderful building in a beautiful setting. The included meals were a real treat and the food was delicious, however the servive was terrible. Check in was done online ahead of time but I recieved little information about the lack of recption and when I was looking for someone to help at 1800 when I arrived, the staff in the restaurant seemed annoyed I didn't know how their hotel ran. Meal service was poor too, having finished my starter course before my drink was served and having to chase and ask numerous times to receive it and to order the next courses etc.

Fundamentally, the hotel is woefully understaffed and operationally poor. The attitude of the staff is to say "no" without even checking (as evidenced three times). Staff attitudes, bar the lovely receptionist are curt and bordering on rude. Lovely place visually, but the walls and carpets are in dire need of a make over in the Coach House. Rooms are generally very nice and themed well. Additional charges are everywhere - so beware. Are there better places to stay - yes.

The property itself was nice and the staff were friendly and helpful. However, the experience that we had, that was about all of the positives. There were no signs in the hotel or on the grounds to tell you where reception was so when we arrived it was unclear where we had to go to check in. We only found the reception as a member of staff was walking by after we had wandered around for a bit and it wasn't obvious that it was reception. Once we were checked in and given the key to our room, we found the bathroom hadn't been cleaned and there was hair, dirty towels and cigarettes in the bathroom. We went back to reception to ask for a new room and whilst they were apologetic, the replacement room we were given had someone else's bag in it so had to go back to reception to make sure that we didn't have the keys to someone else's room. When checking in, we were also asked to confirm our dinner booking which we initially made for 7pm and was emailed the day before confiming if we were still attending (which I responded yes to) only to be advised they didn't have my booking and had to go for another time (6:30pm). This itself was fine, but there were still plenty of seats had we have gone for our original time. Whilst dinner and breakfast were included in the price, the food was pretty average which was a bit disappointing given the owner of the hotel. Overall, it wasn't the best hotel experience and I can't recommend staying here based on the above.

A unique experience. Room beautiful, dining great, hotel amazing with beautiful antiques and fascinating artwork. Very quirky but wonderful. Grounds are quite overgrown but allows for wildlife . Can highly recommend staying here.

Food great and great value - inc Breakfast and Dinner. But would have liked some lighter option alternatives - fruit or sea bass or salmon or omelette salad - due to advanced age!! Sorry! I had dined at Mr. White’s new Balham Restaurant back in the day! Room and Shower Room lovely and spacious. Parking easy. Bed and sleep good. Might have appreciated a bit of help with case given age! Staff really friendly and helpful. Decor and collection display of artifacts amazing and just my style!! Grounds might be a bit too trendily dishevelled but it appealed to me. Location brilliant for Bath, Cotswolds, innumerable “NT and other properties and visiting old friends still living in Cotswolds. Maybe a bit more info and recommendations on special and not so well known places to visit?

We booked a main luxe room as a bit of a treat, we wanted more space and a bath. We were looking foward to a touch of luxury and a good breakfast. On arrival we initially drove back out as we thought we had gone to the wrong place, as it was so dark and the signage was terrible. After a bit of wondering around we worked out wheree to check in. Our first problem arose from not having a credit card to guarantee the room, they wouldn't accept a debit card. I realise this isn't unheard of but we have never had this problem before. So we went off and sorted that out, came back and finished checking in. We got sent off to the annex building and vaguely pointed in the direction of our room. No offer of help with luggage. So off we went in the dark and wondered around some more to find the room. Annex building is rather scruffy. Got to the room, no bath, a bit stale smelling, and rather dusty. I try to check our booking confirmation only to find no wifi. Eventual manage to get on line and compare what we had booked to the room we were sent to which was obviously completely wrong. Back to reception to be told they had/hotels.com had over booked the luxe rooms and we had been down graded to a cosy double. Fine mistakes happen, can we get a refund for the extra we paid. No we have to raise a complaint through hotels.com, tricky with no wifi! To finish off breakfast service poor and slow, the bread for the toast was pre sliced hovis, and everything was cold. All in all pretty rubbish!

The hotel stay was good stay .The building had a charming historical vibe, although the grounds appeared slightly worn down. However, this was not a significant issue. The restaurants offered delightful meals with an interesting menu, and the food was good . The staff were all helpful and friendly, which is incredibly important. I would recommend staying in the main house, as the walk back and forth during a rainy weekend was less than ideal. Unfortunately, due to the weather, the lounge areas felt cold and unwelcoming, but it is understandable that they didn't have the fires on at this time of the year. Overall, it was a nice stay, and the location was perfect for visiting Bath and Tetbury. The toiletries provided were of good quality, and the only suggestion I have is to include bottled water in the bedrooms. Additionally, the door to the block away from the main building could use some tender loving care.

I have stayed here a few times, because i love the quirky ness of the decor and the architecture of the building, the view from the garden across th e country side is breath taking. The food is average The service is poor to say the least the rooms are looking tired and shabby Such a shame

Hard to sum up our stay. Check in - took everything into main building only to be told our room was in the annex. Poor signage to find our room. Dinner - cheapest bottle of wine £45, very small glass of house red £10. Choice of only 3 main courses, cover charge, service charge and water charge - supplements everywhere. Hard to sum up our stay. Check in - took everything into main building only to be told our room was in the annex. Poor signage to find our room. Dinner - cheapest bottle of wine £45, very small glass of house red £10. Choice of only 3 main courses, cover charge, service charge and water charge - supplements everywhere. Breakfast - unchewable bratwurst and £5 orange juice as the man himself watched on! It was worth it for the telling of the tale to our family and friends!

People are first rate. The Manor has fabulous decor with amazing antiques,wonderful vintage pictures and unique artwork. A real joy to behold. As for the food, IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Ok, so there was an issue with the room when arrived but after speaking with the hotel manager this was very quickly resolved whilst we enjoyed a complimentary drink and took ourselves on a quick tour of the stunning Rudloe Arms and grounds. The main building and its decor is fantastic and worth a trip just to see it. Later that evening, we had a dinner reservation where we were greeted warmly by a really attentive restaurant crew. The food was perfectly cooked (potted pig, chicken pate to start; for mains duck and steak and chocolate mousse for dessert) with sides. Breakfast was equally as good! Secure parking and easy to find. We'll definitely be returning.

Food was very good, but unfortunately the experience was let down by atrocious service. Dinner service was rushed. I asked for an extra two minutes to look at the menu, and was told they needed the tables. One of the waiters was particularly surly, and I was made to feel like everything I asked for was too much. He was borderline rude when we turned up for our table 30 minutes late, having been told by another member of staff that it was fine to relax and enjoy a drink in the bar. £8 for a can of moretti with no other choice, very poor. Breakfast was included, although I was charged for the kippers I had. I would say less than 10 seconds elapsed between me taking my last mouthful, and all the plates being taken away, including my toast. So my included breakfast amounted to a cup of tea and half a slice of toast. What a great shame as the food itself was very good. Also the food was served piping hot, which is always good to see.

Booked a shepherds hut, didn’t really know what to expect but was comfy and the log burner was ample for a cold night. Downside was in the advert it says WiFi, this is not in the hut area, only in main building and also I didn’t read anywhere on the booking that there was no electricity in the huts, sat in the main building to charge phones. Breakfast was included in the price and my go to breakfast is always poached eggs on toast, have to say (no surprise with who owns it) the best poached eggs on toast I’ve ever had (and I’m old). I hate hidden charges, it bugs me big time, went to check out and was told I needed to settle my bill? Of course I should have known I’d get charged £3 for a glass of water with my breakfast and £4 for the table service? All very odd in my opinion, please let people know the charges, it’s not about the money it’s the fact it’s hidden.

Everything was good my only suggestion would be to charge a little more for breakfast and include all options rather than add on little extras like cover charge, juice, supplement for Full English. It's just not elegant in such a smart hotel.

The communal areas looked tired but room was lovely and very clean. Very comfortable but very confused by the £2 “cover charge” at breakfast. What for? Left a bad taste. Shame.

One of strangest properties we have ever stayed at. Rooms at dark. Carpet in our room was hemp and had a strange smell. Room had 10 posters on the . All the same. Package included breakfast & dinner. Breakfast you had to pay extra for most hotel dishes and £10 for orange juice. Dinner, limited menu which we got tired of as we were there 4 nights.Same menu every night. Wines very expensive £55 cheapest bottle. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We will not be staying here again.

Arrived at 2pm, early and thought we'd have a coffee while waiting for the 3pm check in. Hotel was closed. Went back at 3:10pm and booked in. The reception looks like a animal hanging room/victorian lavatory and is dimly lit. Checked in okay and given a free upgrade to a room in the main hotel. No shower, bed was too short for me - i'm 6'2 and the foot board was against my feet, no tv, hot as hell and the toilet would flush so i asked to be downgraded back to my original room. TV, working shower and toilet. old dirty hessian matting in the room, but the bed was big and comfortable. Fire door outside my room had a closer that just slammed shut with a loud bang everytime someone came in. Had the please of listening to the lovemaking of the couple nearby and him using the toilet as the walls are paper thin. Cancelled dinner as the restaurant is covered in dead animal horns and went in Corsham. Parking was good though, if you can find the entrance. I've post no pictures as i couldn't be bothered to take any. It could be so nice but is in desperate need of cash injection and some tlc. Such a shame.

The entrance is tricky to spot but it makes feel really private, which I loved. The whole set up was really atmospheric and beautiful. However, check in was really slow and had to be done by my phone, the receptionist didn't think to offer me the WiFi, plus the lighting in there made it very difficult to read everything. And, there are alot of additional rules, compared to other hotels so make sure you check these. The included breakfast had loads of supplementary charges, we paid an additional £18 be be able to have 1 cooked breakfast and an orange juice. Also there was only 1 pot of coffee! However, it was beautifully prepared and really delicious. The chap who served us was really lovely. At check out the receptionist mis-gendered a guest, which was awful to watch. Thankful the guest was very gracious about it. They put a £100 hold on a card with the promise that it's removed in 3 days, I'm still waiting for it to bd removed, 5 days later.

The grounds are not well kept and the hotel was clean but eclectic. I couldn’t have breakfast as service doesn’t start until 8am which maybe fine if you are on holiday but not if you start work at 8.30. I had an evening meal and their set cost meals are £29.95 which sounds reasonable until use find out all sides are £5 each so potatoes £5, peas £5, water, yep £5. It could be such a lovely place but was a let down.

Firstly ignore the negative reviews as overall the Rudloe is an amazon place to visit. The exterior and interior of the main building is beautifully curated to provide a balance of natural beauty and engineered comfort, elegance and opulance. From the curiosities of the 19th century grand tour to the remnants of culture at high point of the career of the owner, it's all here and skillfully arranged. It's certainly a world within a world and full of interesting moments of relaxation and calm. Some may not appreciate the outside garden which despite it's undoubted personality could have used a little work from a gardener. It reminded me a little of the film 28 years later but there were no zombies. The cheap seats here are in the Coach house where you'll get a bit of a bargain. The rooms are large and the furniture elegant early mid century "mouseman" crafted peices so much money has been spent here. The decor in our room was later mid century warhol prints which rhymed well with the overall theme. A 60 inch television capped off the facilities alongside opening french windows. The toilet and shower cubicle were perfectly acceptable and the whole building was clean and well looked after. Breakfast was included in the restaurant of the mai. Building and served by the excellent staff consisting of various egg combos served on toast or crumpets with coffee. A full English option was available for a surcharge. We both really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning soon.
