Under Canvas Acadia is a Glamping facility with proximity to Acadia National Park. The tents are comfortable roomy and well appointed. The staff is knowledgeable friendly and very well versed in local trails for hiking. The restaurant and bar in the Lodge are small but very well staffed with something for everyone. The Lodge is situated on a gorgeous inlet in Surry, Maine with water views, and a large grassy lawn with plenty of chairs for relaxing with a view. They had interesting programs and activities like yoga available, live music many nights and unlimited s’mores and fire pits for gathering and enjoying, It is a family friendly facility and very nice for all ages. You really are immersed in nature. A wonderful experience for active travelers!

We stayed for one night and had the most wonderful stay. The site is beautiful and the private beach was great to go hunting for crabs. The food is beautiful and the s’mores kits are a great touch. The bed is super comfy and the tents are spacious. The team were in hand to help us get our stuff from the car to the tent. All of the team were incredibly helpful and friendly. So happy to give recommendations for walks near by.

Staff was wonderful. Thought we would have a water view but didn’t. Food was expensive and limited. No where to swim and there were insects in the tent. No electricity except a small power battery packs and the fans were 3 inches so when it’s hot so are the tents. Chairs are very low which were hard to use. Shower hard to use it was either scalding or cold.

The tents are 45 minutes away from the national park. No wifi. The star gazing tents have direct sunlight in the bed very early and the tent becomes super hot b 6 am. Unbearable to stay! The water for the shower heats but there is no hook to keep it going so while you soap, at night, becomes very cold and uncomfortable. In the morning no hot water. They gave you a phone to call them at the registration but it does not work. For one night is ok but no more than that.

Beautiful property and tents. Great setup for a quiet relaxing weekend a little closer to nature with beautiful views. There is a small restaurant on site with decent food but very overpriced. The main lobby tent has a lot of amenities, including free unlimited s’mores to pair with the nightly fire pits lit outside. Great place to hang outside with a view of the water. My only complaint is that the prices make this less accessible. I’d love to come back and stay longer, but the price just isn’t worth it.

A perfect place to leave the hectic pace of life and return to the basics while enjoying luxurious bedding and amenities. The tent was beautiful the front deck faced a gorgeous water view. Nature in its glorious splendor. The food was fantastic. Coffee snob that I am was surprised how good there coffee was.

No vehicles allowed near tents. Have to park away from tent and can’t have food in tent so if you want a snack you have to walk quite a distance to car and staff has to bring yours luggage to rent in golf cart. Tent leaked all over while sleeping. Shower leaked and got water all over cabin floor. Everything was damp. Toilet paper fell apart from moisture.

Worst stay & value we have ever experienced. Tired old furnishings, poor quality bedding. Bed creaked & groaned every time we moved Firewood and matches were inadequate. Lighting inadequate Pullout sofa unsleepable Paths to tent muddy & not properly developed. Can not park at tent, totally inconvenient in pouring rain. No picnic tables, few chairs at tent. What a waste of a night & $$$$$.

They did not mention on their website that all tents do not have electricity and the lights are run by battery packs. Also, it was very cold and the only heat source was a small wood stove. You have to get up every two hours during the night to add firewood or the fire will go out. If that happens, you will get up in the morning to a cold tent. It rained while we were there and the path to out tent became very muddy. They did not do anything about it.

Our tent was impeccably clean, spacious, and featured a wonderfully comfortable king-size bed with soft linens. The wood-burning stove kept us warm and cozy as the desert evenings cooled down. The provided USB battery packs for charging devices and lanterns were thoughtful touches that blended seamlessly into the glamping experience.

This is our 3rd stay at an Under Canvas property and we are big fans! In fact, we already booked UC Yellowestone for May 2025 which is what makes this review a little dissappointing. The biggest takeaway, we stayed at UC Arcadia a week before the camp was closing for the season and the staff reflected that in their attitudes. While everyone was courteous and nice, it was apparent (through them even talking about how short-staffed they were and how some of them would not be returning after this season) that they had already moved on mentally. For example, when we stayed at UC Zion (best experience so far of all 3 properties) the staff advises on hiking routes for the kids, places to eat in town, how to be prepared for the day. At Aracadia, I inquired about a couple of hiking routes that I was considering and was tolde to Google how to get there. Also, you have to text them if you want your tent cleaned (that wasn't the case at Zion or Lake Powell) so our tent was dirty when we got back from a long day of hiking (mind you it's $579/night). We will stay in UC again but I think the main resolve is not to stay when they are a week from shuttting down as the staff is checked out mentally. BTW: Be ware of the kids tent option when it rains, the kids tent got completely soaked and we had to roll cots into the suite to make room for them.

The area is beautiful, the staff is wonderful, the food excellent. The issue is the wood burning stove. It did not have a seal - it leaked too much smoke and it did not heat the tent. The nightly temperature was in the 40s so it was cold. Would we do this site again? Yes, but a month earlier when the stove is not needed. The location is beautiful.

Under Canvas Acadia was absolutely amazing. This was our first stay at an Under Canvas location and we are excited to check out the rest. The tents were nestled in the woods for amazing serenity. We loved hearing the night sounds and waking up to nature. The tents were spacious and beds were very comfy. The bathrooms had everything we needed. The staff was amazing! They texted every morning to see what we needed and were very prompt in helping with any needs. The food was excellent. I loved the all access to coffee and tea. The breakfast food was delicious. The evening events sounded super fun (we had tourist activities planned at night but in the future I look forward to participating). I could not think of a single thing to improve. We loved it. Thank you!!

The bed is super comfy and the tents are spacious. The team were in hand to help us get our stuff from the car to the tent. All of the team were incredibly helpful and friendly. So happy to give recommendations for walks near by.

Glamping is not for us, especially in the colder temperatures. I didn’t get enough sleep due to keep waking up to feed more firewood at 48 degrees after midnight, since there is only small stove to keep our tent ( suite size) warm but only last about 2 hrs.

The tents are 45 minutes away from the national park. No wifi. The star gazing tents have direct sunlight in the bed very early and the tent becomes super hot b 6 am. Unbearable to stay! The water for the shower heats but there is no hook to keep it going so while you soap, at night, becomes very cold and uncomfortable. In the morning no hot water. They gave you a phone to call them at the registration but it does not work. For one night is ok but no more than that.

This was everything we hoped it would be, and one of the most peaceful and relaxing stays I’ve ever had. The staff here are amazing and friendly, the food and drink options were surprisingly very good, and the tents were perfect. An absolutely gorgeous setting. Only thing to note would be that this is not in or all that near Acadia National park, despite the name. It’s about a 35-40 minute drive to Acadia. However, it’s a beautiful drive that we enjoyed making.

Beware! You may end with a crying baby in the tent next to you and you will not be reimbursed for your sleepless night and will have to ask repeatedly to get a quiet tent. The food quality is poor (I found a hair in my shrimp tacos!) and overpriced (lobster prices were 50% higher then everywhere else we went). The food also lacked flavor and quality. The General Manager demeanor was stern, cold and inhospitable. She scared my daughter after speaking to her in a harsh tone. Also know that UC charges hidden fees for booking off site adventures with them. In general I found the value proposition not worth it.

We loved our stay here. Excellent service, very friendly and accommodating staff. The tent was great, beautiful grounds. Good activities and entertainment and staff were helpful in planning hikes. Food was good.

We did our research and knew what to expect when it came to showers, electricity, etc. Staff was excellent - very accommodating. We would stay at Under Canvas again. Only slight negative, we underestimated the number of families with small children.

The texting option was very convenient. We checked out Monday morning at Bar Harbor and texted the number if there was an option to come and use the facility earlier than check in time. By 12 noon we got a text and says come and check in our tent was ready. Thank you for the hospitality!

We had a fantastic time! The wood stove was a little tricky, the ventilation was finicky. The maintenance staff was amazing, I wish I had called them the first night to help! Any time we texted for anything, the staff there was at our tent within minutes. The food was amazing and the service was 5 star!

The entire staff was so lovely and accommodating; we had such a great time that we extended our trip an extra day. Jordan at the restaurant was awesome, front desk was excellent and helpful. Didn’t catch the name of the breakfast server but they we great too. Views and property lived up to expectations. Such a relaxing trip; don’t miss out on the stars at night!

The staff is knowledgeable friendly and very well versed in local trails for hiking. The restaurant and bar in the Lodge are small but very well staffed with something for everyone. The Lodge is situated on a gorgeous inlet in Surry, Maine with water views, and a large grassy lawn with plenty of chairs for relaxing with a view. They had interesting programs and activities like yoga available, live music many nights and unlimited s’mores and fire pits for gathering and enjoying, It is a family friendly facility and very nice for all ages. You really are immersed in nature. A wonderful experience for active travelers!

We stayed for one night and had the most wonderful stay. The site is beautiful and the private beach was great to go hunting for crabs. The food is beautiful and the s’mores kits are a great touch. Staff was wonderful. Thought we would have a water view but didn’t. Food was expensive and limited. No where to swim and there were insects in the tent. No electricity except a small power battery packs and the fans were 3 inches so when it’s hot so are the tents. Chairs are very low which were hard to use. Shower hard to use it was either scalding or cold.

The area is beautiful, the staff is wonderful, the food excellent. The issue is the wood burning stove. It did not have a seal - it leaked too much smoke and it did not heat the tent. The nightly temperature was in the 40s so it was cold. Would we do this site again? Yes, but a month earlier when the stove is not needed. The location is beautiful.

Beautiful property and tents. Great setup for a quiet relaxing weekend a little closer to nature with beautiful views. There is a small restaurant on site with decent food but very overpriced. The main lobby tent has a lot of amenities, including free unlimited s’mores to pair with the nightly fire pits lit outside. Great place to hang outside with a view of the water. My only complaint is that the prices make this less accessible. I’d love to come back and stay longer, but the price just isn’t worth it.

The entire family loved it here, and not all of us love camping. The food was amazing (we are serious foodies). We had fantastic wine by the wood burning stove in the tent after the kids went to bed. The kids loved the free s‘mores. The adults loved and early morning by the beach with coffee. Amazing community feeling among the fellow guests - especially the kids of all ages. It felt like a neighborhood block party with 5-star chefs. We can’t wait to come back and try their other properties.

That was an outstanding experience! Stunning ground, fantastic staff, fun, community vibes. Our kids played with about 20+ other kids until the sun went down and the stars came out. We are s’mores with other families and chatted. It was a truly special experience!! The tent was rustic and luxurious at the same time. For a non-camper, I cannot wait to go back!!

We wanted to love this experience, we ignored all of the bad reviews. We had a stargazer ten with a kids' tent. The sun comes in the tent at 4:15 am and everyone is wide awake, including the neighbors that you can hear, CLEARLY! This is a one and done for our family. There is absolutely nothing lux about this property, you are camping paying lux prices. This is not the trendy "glamping." The shower is always ice cold and you have to hold the chain or the water stops, obviously they do this to save money not water. It is impossible to wash your hair, I waited anyway being there's no electriity for a dryer. It was HOT. 90 degrees and no air circulation and def no a/c bc there is no power. Again, this is obviously for their profit margins. We were in tent 35-its .8 mile walk to the lobby, restaurant, ocean, etc. and another .6 of a mile walk the other way to our car. So you walk over 1.5 miles round trip just to get to the amenaties, food, ocean, etc and a mile roundtrip everytime you want your car.The camp is over 40 mins from Acadia and Bar Harbor. Very few restaurant choices near the camp, we went into town and its not the nicest area for families. The kids' tent is NOT connected, it does not lock, therefore, Im not sure how this is safe? The grounds are not gated and there is no security. Random people were walking the grounds. Even the staff (2 members) told us they could never stay in a tent longer than one night and laughed.

The sun comes in the tent at 4:15 am and everyone is wide awake, including the neighbors that you can hear, CLEARLY! This is a one and done for our family. There is absolutely nothing lux about this property, you are camping paying lux prices. This is not the trendy "glamping." The shower is always ice cold and you have to hold the chain or the water stops, obviously they do this to save money not water. It is impossible to wash your hair, I waited anyway being there's no electriity for a dryer. It was HOT. 90 degrees and no air circulation and def no a/c bc there is no power. Again, this is obviously for their profit margins. We were in tent 35-its .8 mile walk to the lobby, restaurant, ocean, etc. and another .6 of a mile walk the other way to our car. So you walk over 1.5 miles round trip just to get to the amenaties, food, ocean, etc and a mile roundtrip everytime you want your car.The camp is over 40 mins from Acadia and Bar Harbor. Very few restaurant choices near the camp, we went into town and its not the nicest area for families. The kids' tent is NOT connected, it does not lock, therefore, Im not sure how this is safe? The grounds are not gated and there is no security. Random people were walking the grounds. Even the staff (2 members) told us they could never stay in a tent longer than one night and laughed.

This was our first time at a At Canvas location. We really enjoyed the peacefulness and beautiful outdoors. There was a live band, smores, restaurant on site, and perfect location to feel like you are away. We went as a couple, but we were probably the only ones without kids there. The kids were playing and having a great time which was so sweet, but this seemed more of a family friendly vibe over a romantic couples retreat. We still had an amazing time and would try and try another At Canvas location in the future.
