This property is very nice, the surrounding beach and pool areas are nice and well kept, there were plenty of food options and the food itself was good. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here. There are a few things that did stand out to us as issues though. If this hotel is going to claim a 5 star status with 5 star prices - you expect a 5 star experiences. Here are a few areas the property fell short, for us: -We stayed for 4 nights and our room was only serviced 1 of those days despite having the “clean and tidy” sign out. - The bathrooms and doors are in a bit of disrepair and the mattresses were not comfortable. - The main pools were hot! Like, hot tub temp hot. They refreshed the water once during our stay and that seemed to help but mostly the water was quite warm. In 98 degree weather we weee really looking for cold pools. The adult only pool and the pool attached to the bar stay cool so we really stuck to those. - Lastly, for a 5 star experience - poolside service would be preferred. This might seem picky, but again - for the price, these are the things we would expect. Overall the area is beautiful, the staff were all very nice, and we enjoyed our stay.

La piscina esta verde de lo sucia que estaba . Acabamos de ir hace menos de dos meses y nos sorprendió lo sucio que estaba el área de las piscinas . Mucha gente comiendo adentro de la piscina. Deberían de cuidar mas eso porque era asqueroso ver eso . El tobogán estaba negro de los sucios

The resort facility and staff are wonderful. The pool is amazing. The staff is kind and helpful. The beach is amazing. The buffet is weak and over valued. Needs improving. The Snack Bar was constantly out of food during peak hours. Yet the entertainment through out the day and the evening theater show was another amazing bonus to this property.

This property is ideal only for local Spanish speaking families. It's a bad choice for non Spanish speaking people and those who aren't traveling as a family. Nobody speaks even two words of English so basic communication was hard. Also because of this the hotel was completely unresponsive to all my messages about how to travel to the hotel from the airport. We had to arrange a private vehicle for $150 each way and it was often a smaller (personal) and not very clean vehicle. The bad: No convenient transport to/from hotel from airport or any excursions. You have to figure it all out yourself. Crowd is entirely local families so no couples/singles or diverse group of people to interact with Too many kids all over the place. No adults only area or pool. The gym was very hot and very limited/poor equipment. Music/entertainment area often goes until midnight and might disturb some light sleepers They spray for mosquito repellent multiple times at the worst times when everyone gathers for the sunset and both the noise and chemical fumes are unavoidable! Who knows what you and all those kids are breathing in?! Rooms are clean/modern but very basic. No coffee maker or refreshments in room. Desk is unusable. The good things: Food was good and solid quality Staff despite not knowing any English was friendly Property is newer/modern looking Comfy beds/pillows (better than most hotels)

We had a really great vacation here. The beach is beautiful, although the water appeared dangerous to swim in because of the tides and current. The sunsets were amazing and you could walk on huge stretches of sandy beach in both directions. The staff was amazing and very friendly. A couple of the staff knew English, which was very helpful for us, as we are not fluent in Spanish. Pedro, who leads the entertainment staff, was very welcoming, had excellent English, and was very friendly and helpful. The entertainment each night was absolutely amazing. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Oceana.

Oceana Resort is beautiful place, the wait staff is very friendly, accommodating, eager to satisfy your needs. However, I do have one observation (which I share wi management) the fact that there is no servers at the pools is very inconvenient, not everyone is willing to seat at the bar for hours, but instead choose to have drinks throughout the day. It gave me impression that this model was to discourage or minimize consumption of food and drink. For an all inclusive, some people do not get what they paid for. The above statement is intended as a constructive criticism and does not reflect on your employees

I and my wife terribly suffered from flea(=pulga in spanish) during my stay.I took a picture to submit whenever the property wants to see . To improve the worst case for my future stay, I advised top manager at front desk and manager at room cleaning . But,to avoid the issue , they told me that it is from mosquito . To make worse, they did not allow me to record their names. Obviously , I know the difference between bite of flea and one of mosquito. The itching was definately from bed at night ,not from outside facilities.

Una experiencia terrible, para nunca volver. Primero nuestra habitación estaba llena de bichos, en la noche nos picaron arañitas, pedimos cambio de habitacion y nos la cambiaron. Luego mi esposo fue al baño de hombres cerca del restaurante, estaban asquerosos. Unos niños hicieron sus necesidades y dejaron embarrado todo, inclusive los lavamanos. Luego hoy por la mañana estaba saliendo de la pisicina cuando una niña que estaba con su madre, en mitad del camino frente a las sillas estaba orinando!! Le informé de inmediato a personal del hotel, la piscina del agua sucia con restos de comida y vasos tirados dentro de ella con restos de bebida. Nos desilusionó tanto, porque en ocasiones anteriores era limpio. Es para no volver.

Like, hot tub temp hot. They refreshed the water once during our stay and that seemed to help but mostly the water was quite warm. In 98 degree weather we weee really looking for cold pools. The adult only pool and the pool attached to the bar stay cool so we really stuck to those. - Lastly, for a 5 star experience - poolside service would be preferred. This might seem picky, but again - for the price, these are the things we would expect. Overall the area is beautiful, the staff were all very nice, and we enjoyed our stay.

This property is ideal only for local Spanish speaking families. It's a bad choice for non Spanish speaking people and those who aren't traveling as a family. Nobody speaks even two words of English so basic communication was hard. Also because of this the hotel was completely unresponsive to all my messages about how to travel to the hotel from the airport. We had to arrange a private vehicle for $150 each way and it was often a smaller (personal) and not very clean vehicle. The bad: No convenient transport to/from hotel from airport or any excursions. You have to figure it all out yourself. Crowd is entirely local families so no couples/singles or diverse group of people to interact with Too many kids all over the place. No adults only area or pool. The gym was very hot and very limited/poor equipment. Music/entertainment area often goes until midnight and might disturb some light sleepers They spray for mosquito repellent multiple times at the worst times when everyone gathers for the sunset and both the noise and chemical fumes are unavoidable! Who knows what you and all those kids are breathing in?! Rooms are clean/modern but very basic. No coffee maker or refreshments in room. Desk is unusable. We have stayed at the Oceana multiple times. This last visit left us feeling neutral. Although the outdoor spaces are very nice, other aspects of the facility left us underwhelmed. The private pools are costly and lack privacy. In general, the word adequate comes to mind. The rooms are adequate. Very basic with no attention to detail, and beginning to show wear and tear. The Buffet meals are repetitious. Although you won’t go hungry, the food and dining space is adequate at best, lacking creativity. The restaurant is the highlight of the dining experience, but reservations are recommended and can’t be made until the day of. Evening entertainment provides adequate shows with music that is typically, much louder than need be. Other than attending the night time shows or sitting in the bar, options for evening entertainment are limited. We’ll return, but likely not in the near future.

The resort facility and staff are wonderful. The pool is amazing. The staff is kind and helpful. The beach is amazing. The buffet is weak and over valued. Needs improving. The Snack Bar was constantly out of food during peak hours. Yet the entertainment through out the day and the evening theater show was another amazing bonus to this property.

DO NOT BOOK HERE. So we have a family trip planned for here in two weeks. Total spend about 1500 a room and about 8 rooms. So we are spending 10,000 usd. 1) They do not allow any cancellations or refunds. 2) Their communication sucks. I emailed them on March 3rd. No response. Follow up on March 8th and they finally respond on March 10th. Send another email on March 11th and get a response on March 17th telling me to reschedule out to someone on WhatsApp. I message them and I get no response on WhatsApp from their concierge. I have to send a follow up email and then the concierge responds with very little detail. So... Oceana Resort as far as the construction and buildings ..green areas etc are great!! But oh my oh my the service when you check in IS HORRIBLE!! First they do not let you in the property at all until 3:00 which is check in time. That's all fine but so once you check in at the reception you then have to stand in line for 30 minutes or so to get bracelets and keys and room numbers. NO ONE TOLD US we could have been at the desk to receive those before 3:00 .. So it was a mess when we got in there not only there was a line but they only had one person giving bracelets and keys .. The place was absolutely crowded ..loud music .. if you like that type of environment you will have a blast. The pictures I saw online looked so peaceful but oh my it is the opposite. I like quiet places so I will not come back here. For what they charge even though it's all inclusive it is not worth it if you want tranquility.

This is my second time at this location I was very impressed the first time specially at how wonderful all the staff was. But this time we had a bad experience from 2 of your bartenders at the snack bar they were rude and no idea what’s costumer service is. My boyfriend and I sat there waiting for someone to serve us and they just ignore us 2 other guys come in and they serve them as soon as they got there me and y boyfriend waited about 10-15 until I asked one of the girls if they were going to attend us and she said yes and ask the other girl to serve us which she did but with the worst attitude. It’s a shame that such a wonderful place have people like this at this great location. I asked for their names but Al they said was we don’t know they are new

We had such great experience the staff alone went beyond after check in. The experience of having all inclusive from unlimited drinks, food, pools was amazing. Everything was well maintained and clean my favorite part of it was the Hawaiian show and the game night. The fact that Expedia provided an amazing rate made it a night to remember.

All inclusive with plenty of spaces. For english speaking tourists...beware. very very limited english speaking staff. No directions given upon arrival. You are on your own. Luggage carts need to be asked for. No help from parking lot. For a high end hotel i found the concierge desk to be sub par. Very noisy at night but if you have kids or want to party there is plenty to do. Overall was fun. Beautiful setting. Ocean too dangerous to swim in.

Property is beautiful, staff is excellent, the only problem is, is secluded and traffic is horrible to get back to Guatemala City. Goggle map send us through a dirt road full of pot holes full of water the size of a pool, with no one around to help.. My only observation for the improvement of this resort is, for them to advice guest of this different roads.

We had a really great vacation here. The beach is beautiful, although the water appeared dangerous to swim in because of the tides and current. The sunsets were amazing and you could walk on huge stretches of sandy beach in both directions. The staff was amazing and very friendly. A couple of the staff knew English, which was very helpful for us, as we are not fluent in Spanish. Pedro, who leads the entertainment staff, was very welcoming, had excellent English, and was very friendly and helpful. The entertainment each night was absolutely amazing. I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Oceana.

The resort facility and staff are wonderful. The pool is amazing. The staff is kind and helpful. The beach is amazing. The buffet is weak and over valued. Needs improving. The Snack Bar was constantly out of food during peak hours. Yet the entertainment through out the day and the evening theater show was another amazing bonus to this property.

We stayed on the second floor. The doors aren’t fully sealed so the humidity and the A/C make the room soggy and dripping condensation on the walls and floors. We arrived on a weekday and check in is at 3 but lunch ends at 3 so my kids were hungry. All that was available were cold soggy burgers and fries at the snack bar. Dinner reservations were good, and food was good in my opinion. My children aren’t typically picky eaters, we travel around the world. And they eat everything, they cried and asked to leave and get fast food, because buffet breakfast was not good. For the price we paid I expected better quality food and service for all 3 meals not only dinner. Hotel rooms are no better than a soggy motel 6, pools are okay. We aren’t fancy people but this was definitely not anywhere I would recommend anyone stay.

Dirty room, dirty pool, dirty everything. Awful maintained property with yellow all around the pool. The bed had a cockroach and overall place was not as expected. Do not recommend staying here. Look elsewhere. Street dogs roaming around the whole resort as well.
