The hotel was hard to get to due to location and traffic and there was no facility parking, but the hotel was very quaint and authentic to the country. We loved the courtyard dining area. The staff was very nice and cordial. Our room and bathroom were small but the beds were comfortable. We were only there one night to fly out the next day.

Cute location that had everything we needed. Rooms were clean, shower was hot, and it was a short walking distances to nice restaurants. Staff was helpful and friendly. We met a traveler from Europe who comes to Costa Rica a lot and this is the only place she stays! Note that the parking spot isn't very big if you have a rental car.

The hotel is the best place to stay upon arriving from the airport at night. Breakfast was delicious. The staff was helpful with directions and recommendations. There's no free parking, but you can park behind the block for a fee. There's restaurants within the block.

We'd like to return next time we're in San Jose. The quaint charming courtyard pairs well with the rooms. The service was great! Friendly and helpful. The only negative is the lack of free car parking.

For $100 a night it was cute and quaint and everything I needed. I did have to wipe the toilet seat a little bit which was annoying it didn’t seem to be fully cleaned. But the stay was comfy and the morning breakfast in the cute courtyard was great, good service and good lil spot.

House has lots of character, staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and included. Rooms were basic but very clean, bed was comfortable and shower had plenty of hot water!

The property was nice and staff very friendly. The building was older and in good condition. There was not A/C which was okay with the windows opened. The tall room doors had ventilation openings at the top of them which opened to the main hallway. This was nice for airflow but unfortunately also lets sound travel from the hall to the room. Breakfast was very good and there were quite a few shops and restaurants in the area. It was a good value for money overall and an easy trip from the airport.

I would say it's more like 4.5 stars. The room was small but spotless and fit our family of 4. Comfortable beds. Check-in was easy and the staff was pleasant and very nice. Breakfast was delicious, and set in a cute little courtyard. We easily took an Uber to the airport for a reasonable cost. The cons: no A/C, so we opened the window, but there were no screens so I got bug bites (just me, no one else) and the cars on the street were kind of noisy. But given the price of the room, you can't complain - you could just put on some bug spray and bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper!

A hidden gem. The doors don't keep out any noise, so it is quite loud with noise from within and without. Other than that it is very clean, the breakfast is delicious. A very neat little place.

We had to stay one night near the airport. Great value. Very clean. We had to use a shared bathroom that could use some updating, but again very clean. Room was compact but very comfortable. Plus it included breakfast. Which was delicious. Staff was very helpful in finding transportation and recommendations. Cute little courtyard inside. Would recommend.

The stay was good. Had a bit of a hostel vibe to it. The staff was friendly and informative. It was great for a nights stay. Breakfast was decent the next morning as well. For a pre and post flight hotel it works great. Keep in mind there isn’t any A/C so the rooms can get quite hot.

This hotel is quaint and lovely right by the Central Park in alajuela. There are several restaurants but not a ton. To see and do in the are. The staff were amazing and breakfast was very good. We had a superior room so our own bathroom and a/c.

This property is Ok. I arrived late and couldn't find a way to enter the property because there wasn't a clear sign of entry. The shared bath room was too small and had no warm water for shower.

There’s several things to consider before booking this Hotel , this is not only a hotel it also runs like a Hostel , so if you don’t look very well in the description of the rooms , some of there rooms don’t have a private bathroom and no Tv , so it was a surprise for me because I thought I was booking a hotel, it’s very important for people that want to stay there to be very sure what room is that you are getting, also there’s no parking at the property you have to look for a parking place and pay , but it’s around the corner which is the positive side, the place is clean but if your looking for a nice place that’s quiet and have no hassles I don’t recommend staying in this Hotel/ Hostel , description of the amenities is not accurate, it is convenient the area because you can walk to restaurants and places

Pros: clean, good service, good breakfast, good location, comfortable. Cons: no safe in my room (although I never felt my stuff were in any danger) but still, room 7 overlooks breakfast courtyard area which is also used for relaxing by guests, makes it a bit tough to sleep in.

We loved the history and quaintness of this property. Also, it was close to the local community and shopping, etc. Our first night in room 7 was nice. There is no air-conditioning, but it cools off later and there are ceiling fans. Room 6 had a shared bathroom which was okay. But no hot water in the sinks and the shower was cold in the morning. But wonderful staff. Would I return there? Yes…

Staff was so friendly and helpful! Rooms were nice and clean and the breakfast they made us in the morning was incredible! Highly recommend if you just need a night to stay close to the airport.

Great location in the heart of Alajuela. The hotel arranged a tour to Volcano Poas and area for us. It was fantastic. Great location near the museum, public parks, market and many dining options close by. Easy to walk anywhere in town. 10 minutes from the airport.

I enjoyed staying one night at the Alajuela hotel because of the friendly staff, relaxing outdoor area, and the location is convenient from the airport. Carlos worked the front desk during the evening and then the next day he was cooking and serving us breakfast. Carlos was very informative about the area and always made sure we were taken care of. He truly was the reason our experience at the hotel was so great.

Alajuela City Hotel & Guest House made our trip! Through preserving its wooden ceilings, gorgeous doors, and courtyard full of plants (and signs for their varieties), it is obvious that the staff takes lots of pride in the history and upkeep of this building. We had to leave at 3:15AM for our flight, and even though we missed the included breakfast later that morning, a to go stack of homemade goods for our travels were prepared for us ahead of time, so thoughtful! Another plus — they are able to organize a shuttle for you. Lovely facilities, and even more lovely staff! Would stay here all over again.

This place was absolutely adorable! We felt safe and secure staying here as well as walking around the neighborhood to go to and from dinner each night. The staff was helpful and friendly as well. The breakfast was amazing and they had a few great options as well.

A great little place in Alajuela with wonderful tucked away rooms off a small courtyard and the best staff. When we had to cancel at last minute, they were so gracious, and when we arrived for a second visit we found the place tranquil and serene. The access to the airport is very good via taxi as well.

The owner, Charles, was very helpful and friendly which made our late night check in easy. The place is safe and clean so it’s perfect if you’re traveling alone with a small child. Book directly with the hotel to save even more money which I will do for my next stay. I enjoyed my Tico breakfast with the other guests in the lovely outdoor dining area. The staff (ladies in the kitchen& front desk) were great too!

The hotel was hard to get to due to location and traffic and there was no facility parking, but the hotel was very quaint and authentic to the country. We loved the courtyard dining area. The staff was very nice and cordial. Our room and bathroom were small but the beds were comfortable. We were only there one night to fly out the next day.

Great location in the heart of Alajuela. The hotel arranged a tour to Volcano Poas and area for us. It was fantastic. Great location near the museum, public parks, market and many dining options close by. Easy to walk anywhere in town. 10 minutes from the airport.

It’s a nice location right in the middle of the city of Alajuela. Not many tourists and no night life but tons of restaurants.

Very comfortabe, eclectic ambiance and the staff is lovely! I stayed overnight to be close to the airport and it was perfect. Only an 8 minute taxi ride. The beds were very comfortable and everything was very clean. Breakfast was delicious (eggs with spinach, tomatoes & onion) & fresh. Lots of shopping and restaurants choices all in walking distance as well as a beautiful park in the town center a few blocks away. Great place to sit and feed the pigeons! I can highly recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again.

People are very helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Rooms are simple, but clean and comfortable. Living area is beautiful. Receptionnists were amazing. They helped me with the rest of my trip. For the price, it's perfect.

Wir waren eine Nacht hier und waren vollens zufrieden. Das Hotel ist gut zum Flughafen gelegen. Auch gibt es ein gutes Frühstück (die Portionen waren allerdings sehr klein).

Great option for a Costa Rican small hotel near the airport. Restaurants and shopping nearby and very friendly service from the desk manager. Also a very early breakfast was served for us as we had an early flight.

House has lots of character, staff are friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and included. Rooms were basic but very clean, bed was comfortable and shower had plenty of hot water!

The property was nice and staff very friendly. The building was older and in good condition. There was not A/C which was okay with the windows opened. The tall room doors had ventilation openings at the top of them which opened to the main hallway. This was nice for airflow but unfortunately also lets sound travel from the hall to the room. Breakfast was very good and there were quite a few shops and restaurants in the area. It was a good value for money overall and an easy trip from the airport.

I would say it's more like 4.5 stars. The room was small but spotless and fit our family of 4. Comfortable beds. Check-in was easy and the staff was pleasant and very nice. Breakfast was delicious, and set in a cute little courtyard. We easily took an Uber to the airport for a reasonable cost. The cons: no A/C, so we opened the window, but there were no screens so I got bug bites (just me, no one else) and the cars on the street were kind of noisy. But given the price of the room, you can't complain - you could just put on some bug spray and bring some earplugs if you're a light sleeper!

Cute hotel near the airport in the center of town, walkable to almost anything you need. Great staff, very friendly environment. The bed was harder than I like, and the pillows were bigger and harder than I like. I ended up using a camping pillow I brought and slept great. We had a small room with a private bath that was perfect for a night.

The staff was helpful with check in and parking which I appreciated. There was no AC in the standard room and it was in the hallway on the way to the check in counter so there was some noise. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Everything was super clean.

Great location close to tow. Lovely, friendly staff who were very helpful and very patient with our beginner level Spanish. Room was just what we needed for our three day stop.

Booked the room with two single beds, no AC, & shared baths. Room was cute & clean, the bathrooms were ok & clean. The room was well ventilated & fan did maintain air circulating. We did not miss the AC at all. The stay included a delicious breakfast. The location was great we walked south about 3-4 blocks (5 min) to San Juan Santa Maria Park and you could catch Toasa bus "san Jose por Invu" that took you to Airport and then to downtown San José.

Nice boutique hotel just 10 minutes from the airport. Was easy to check in and choose our breakfast for the next morning. Delicious eggs, rice and beans, banana muffins and coffee. Quaint rooms and centrally located for a quick walk to local places.
