Property was clean and nice! Staff was friendly. Parking was an issue as there’s no overnight parking anywhere nearby and the lobby turns into a nightclub some nights which was unexpected and creates a lot of noise

Vibrant area, with lots of shops and restaurants. There is a city parking lot behind the hotel. No technology problems. Great bar in the lobby. The rooms are very quiet. There was a huge boisterous wedding on the first floor and we couldn't hear a peep in our room.

It was a bit confusing for us. Parking information was not clear until we arrive there. If you could put street parking is no charge from Mon- Sat from 6pm to 8 am. It was helpful for us.

Online check in was super easy and convenient. Our room was clean and super nice, just as pictured. Some construction going on in lobby area but didn’t affect our stay and was super quiet up in our room! Parking was easy in lot right next door, and we were able to get everywhere within short walks or minimal driving. Would stay again and recommend!

Beautiful property. Well renovated building with old/original details/fixtures. Clean. Very quiet. Scenic view from window. Very responsive, contacted staff twice via text and received support in under 5 minutes both times. Walkable to many restaurants, Target, bars, clubs, and numerous gyms/fitness centers. Bar inside (open Fri-Sat nights) was also great. Would highly recommend!

Had a comfortable stay. While there wasn't any onsite parking there was reasonably priced parking close by. The neighborhood was quiet, close to restaurants and to Whole Foods so the location was convenient. Comfortable bed, modern styling and very clean and comfortable. Will stay here again on future visits.

I loved the cool, hip vibe and the privacy. The virtual check-in was a breeze. The room was spotless and spacious, its design striking just the right balance between the traditional and the modern. I loved the nice touches, such as the gracefully shaped tea/coffee mugs, the herbal teas, the many flavors of coffee, the fluffy towels, the extremely comfortable bed, the spacious shower. One tiny shortcoming was one of the window shades not coming all the way down, but it’s really a very minor quibble. Having Whole Foods just around the corner was great. Overall, this is the best hotel in Pittsburgh I’ve stayed in, and I’ve stayed in many. It’s also a terrific bang for the buck. I am definitely going to stay there again. Congrats to Team Kasa!

After jumping through the online hoops, I did not initially realize there was no front desk, no visible onsite staff, I got in and the room looked very nice. While the bathroom was really great and there was a fridge, microwave, and coffee and tea, the bed was as hard as a rock.

This hotel is great. I love that it was formerly a YMCA. It adds so much character and charm to the building. The room was clean and comfortable and very roomy for my daughter and me. They were able to accommodate and early check-in which was just a bonus. They also had a woman on staff in the lobby (her name escapes me) but she was AMAZING. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and the city in general. 10/10 I would stay here again.

The hotel itself was different from what I’m used to and I think that’s what drew me in. Loved the large windows and the views if the city. Loved the king bed and how simple the room was. Perfect for a quick trip but would be a great option for an extended one as well since there were many walkable options and travel by car was quick too. Will definitely seek out Kasa hotels in the future!

The first night, the shower gel dispenser was broken, I text the hotel per instructions, the response was warm and friendly and patient, but the issue is the problem was never fixed, even after multiple interactions. I suspect I was talking to AI. There is zero human contact in the whole process, the concept is new, probably can save operations cost. it is okay unless things broken. I ended up having to buy a shower gel myself from the store. The hotel should do a better job to include real human to address real problem.

There was no staff but that's the beauty of the Kasa concept. On-line check-in and check-out, good on-line customer service, beautifully appointed room - spacious, large windows, every thing I needed for a comfortable stay. I will be looking or Kasa stays where ever I plan my travels.

This was such a cute place to stay! Even though there’s no front desk, two staff members were there to greet and assist us when we arrived. The air conditioning in our original room wasn’t working, and while it took a few steps and about a 15-minute call to get it sorted, they were able to move us to a new room. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well-stocked with everything we needed. There’s also a beautiful restaurant right at the entrance—it looked amazing, though we didn’t have time to try it. We would absolutely stay here again without hesitation.

I was never sent an email with my information to access the building. Customer service could not help me! I had to go rent at another hotel and never was refunded my money!!! Never book with them again!!!!

Clean, cool room with thoughtful and plentiful amenities. Great views. Never saw staff but they were pretty responsive by email. Surprisingly good bar/restaurant in the lobby. For the price this hotel exceeds the expectations. If something isn’t quite right you might be inconvenienced before it gets addressed, but that’s the trade-off for the lower price.

HOTELS.COM NEEDS TO DROP THE MAVERICK FROM ITS WEBSITE. We booked 2 rooms for 2 friends visiting Pittsburgh from Europe. We arrived to the hotel to find there were no workers. It was a virtual check-in that did not work. When we could not get into the hotel, we were told one of the rooms was cancelled. The hotel sent an email notifying us of the cancellation. No such email was sent. We were then told one of the rooms was unavailable because of a maintenance issue. When we finally reached a person, she told us we had only 1 room reserved. I read her the Hotels.com reservation information. She then said that was wrong, she could not help me, they had no rooms and hung up on me.

Not a great experience! Spent hours on the phone trying to get all of my four rooms secured through their virtual check-in. Had to scan the state issued ID's of all of my travel group and add in credit card information all so they don't have to pay for a receptionist to help get you into their hotel. I will never sign up for this process again and recommend no one to use Kasa if they appreciate their time and patience.

Caroline, the concierge on duty when we arrived, is phenomenal! She was engaging, funny, and extremely helpful. The room was as expected with easy access to the building and our room. We had our trepidations about the parking situation and it turned out to be a non-issue. We also had our concerns about the virtual front desk and boutique / niche feel for the hotel. This is not the hotel for everyone. We knew what we were reserving and knew about the low beds. This is not a negative criticism of the beds. The bed and mattress were great. Rather, after a good night’s sleep after an active day, my 59 year old knees didn’t like pushing me up from such a low height. That’s on me. Caroline, the concierge on duty when we arrived, is phenomenal! She was engaging, funny, and extremely helpful. The room was as expected with easy access to the building and our room. We had our trepidations about the parking situation and it turned out to be a non-issue. We also had our concerns about the virtual front desk and boutique / niche feel for the hotel. This is not the hotel for everyone. We knew what we were reserving and knew about the low beds. This is not a negative criticism of the beds. The bed and mattress were great. Rather, after a good night’s sleep after an active day, my 59 year old knees didn’t like pushing me up from such a low height. That’s on me. I’ll be looking for the typical bed frame, box spring, and mattress offerings going forward. Final thought, read the instructions when you receive them. Ask a bunch of questions to prepare yourself. We stayed at The Maverick by Kasa 2 nights while visiting Pittsburgh. All the information we needed to enter the building, get our room number, and park our car was readily available in my e-mail. The room itself was spacious, clean, and very quiet. We found street parking but a parking lot was nearby. While walking in the neighborhood to find dinner, someone tried to steal my phone. We were extra careful after that incident and stayed indoors at night. The hotel is a short drive to a lot of restaurants, The Phipps Conservatory, and the Carnegie Art Museum.

Vibrant area, with lots of shops and restaurants. There is a city parking lot behind the hotel. No technology problems. Great bar in the lobby. The rooms are very quiet. There was a huge boisterous wedding on the first floor and we couldn't hear a peep in our room.

I've stayed here twice now and it is officially my go-to stay for Pittsburgh. It's always quiet, clean, and I enjoy the virtual check in process. It's conveniently located just outisde of the main city, but close enough to plenty of walkable restaurants and stores.

Second stay at this hotel while in Pittsburgh. Up and coming neighborhood near a Whole Foods, Target and tons of cute neighborhood restaurants and cafes. The hotel itself is lovely. I much prefer to stay here when visiting my child at the University of Pitt. Street parking or metered parking in a lot behind the building is abundant and I don't feel overwhelmed with garage parking or the Forbes Avenue traffic/congestion. It is a short 10 minute drive from that. So much character in the architectural details!!! Love that this building has been repurposed from a YMCA. The mid century modern furnishings are adorable. The contactless check in and parking is convenient. I will be back.

The rooms are beautiful and uniquely designed, they have a touch of modern design inside a historical building. The rooms have high ceilings and tall windows There is wide range of restaurant options all in walking distance and an convenient parking lot (paid) close by. I would recommend The Maverick as a nice place to stay on the east side Pittsburgh.

I love that the hotel is in a historic building, an old YMCA building across from a beautiful church. It's nicely decorated, spacious, the area is quiet, and it's accessible to other parts of the city. It has a fridge, microwave, table, chairs, reading lights in the bed, an iron, and plenty of hooks, which many rooms lack. There is a fabulous restaurant on the first floor -- only open for dinner but with a pleasant ambiance, good cocktails, and interesting food. A couple of negatives: There is no one on staff on-site. We didn't have a light for the bathroom for the first day because we didn't know there was a master switch by the front door. They looked like two regular light switches, and there was no signage to alert us. It took until the next day to get a message saying that it was most likely causing the light to be out. Also, the king-sized bed has a ledge butted up against the wall, making it clunky to get up once you're in bed on that side. Otherwise, check-in and out was easy and seamless.

They provide a good selection of complimentary coffee and tea, as well as free drink tokens for the bar downstairs. Checking in is entirely contactless and all the information is texted to you. Instead of being issued a key you type in a code on the keypad. If it's your first time doing a contactless check-in like this, look for a ✔️ on the lower left part of the keypad, that will light up the numbers for you. If you're looking for a hotel experience that's a little less generic than your typical chain, you'll enjoy this.

The room was verY clean supplies and toiletries were conveniently located and well stocked. The bar/restaurant was really nice. Longer hours or at least a breakfast option would have been great. I would definitely stay there again.

Incredible building. Its 120 years old and the architecture is restored. rooms HUGE- bigger than my first studio apartment- and super cool, view was amazing. Lots of dining options within walking distance. Free coffee and cookies. Check out the basketball gym in all its 1970stastic glory. Incredible WOW factor. Forget hotel, id consider living there. The history of the neighborhood is a whole awesome adventure all itself. Allegedly there will be a bar in the lobby soon, and POSSIBLY dining. A few Be Aware Ofs Bed was ROCK SOLID HARD and SUPER low. Youll either love it or hate it. I loved it. My gf did NOT. There is no dedicated parking or garage or valet. Parking on street only or in the library lot. Virtually all onstreet parking in Pittsburgh is metered. I think you can re up your meter with an app but i wasnt smart enough to figure out how. Its about $2 an hour. Its next door to a SPECTACULAR church, you may run into a few homeless/marginal people. Use Big City Street Smarts.

Clean, cool room with thoughtful and plentiful amenities. Great views. Never saw staff but they were pretty responsive by email. Surprisingly good bar/restaurant in the lobby. For the price this hotel exceeds the expectations. If something isn’t quite right you might be inconvenienced before it gets addressed, but that’s the trade-off for the lower price.

We had a fantastic stay at the Maverick! Check in was flawless, they have a great digital front desk that explains every detail. Because our stay was over a weekend, we managed to get free street parking right out front which was very convenient ( keep in mind you'd have to pay during the week). The room was huge, clean and comfortable! It had more than we had expected and we wished we could have stayed longer.

I stayed here back at the beginning of the year and absolutely loved it. I was nervous about the remote check-in, but the process worked seamlessly smoothly. The process was seamless and smooth this time until we opened up the door to our room. We got hit with the smell of cat urine, and then our toilet was broken. I immediately reported this upon arrival via the messaging system and was assured it would be addressed immediately. We were there on Thursday and we left on a Monday. None of those concerns were ever addressed. Even worse, during one of the nights at around 4AM a fire alarm went off. A FALSE fire alarm. Keep in mind that this is an unmanned building. There are no employees or management on site. Only guests sleeping in the building. When I spoke with the 911 operator, he assured me that the fire department had the ability to turn off the fire alarm. Nope. Firefighters told guests they did not have the ability and they left, leaving the alarm on. At some point, some random person pulls up leaves his car parked in the middle of the road, runs in, turns off the alarm, gets back in his car and leaves. Not much later the fire alarm starts again. Why? Other guests told us that someone showed up and started doing tests on the fire alarm. Folks this is between four and six in the morning. What is wrong with these people? On Sunday I was told someone was coming to fix the toilet on Monday, the day I left. I will NEVER stay at a Kasa property EVER AGAIN!!!!!!

The rooms are great and the hotel is fun and well situated. But, top tip: Never stay in a hotel with no staff.
