Lovely hotel, good rooms and a well laid out bar/restaurant with the added outdoor space. It’s a shame that there was a mess up presenting our evening dinner, and breakfast was boarding on shambolic. We shall return, but may be miss out the breakfast .

Absolutely love this boutique hotel. It not only has charming rooms but a fantastic restaurant with a lovely pub area. It's great if you want to go for a walk as there are several tree-lined streets. Would highly recommend if you are staying near the airport as you can take the airport relief Road. Have stayed here on numerous occasions

Liked the friendliness of staff, good upgrading. Lovely evening meal. Shame the lake not accessible - we had our wedding pics down there 37yrs ago! Oak-panelled room much smaller than it used to be :( Our 1st night bedroom not a patch on what it was then - now two rooms - (shame). Breakfast - satisfactory. Overall - Still love it! Thank you.

The staff were excellent. Breakfast on my first morning was very poor with most items unavailable. The room was very tired and in poor condition. Worst of all was there was no hot water for my morning shower, it came on just before I left the room. Always nice to start the day with a cold shower when it’s minus 3 outside. The photos on the website are not reflective of the real condition. The hotel is evidently being run with limited funds. Would not return and not recommend.

Breakfast selection poor and was asked to move seats No one asked how my stay was when I checked out. JW Lees using my email to send unsolicited marketing emails despite advising I did not want to receive them.

Ever heard the term "putting lipstick on a pig"? In fairness, it was Travelodge prices(ish) so what did i expect? Looking around for a pair of slippers (and failing) to keep your socks clean is a bit much though, right?

This is a beautiful hotel, the staff are very welcoming and helpful. Rooms are spotless and very spacious. Lots of lovely little things left out for us on arrival, waters, biscuits etc.

Well located, service good, although only one on reception who was busy when I arrived do had to wait a while, but very welcoming when available. Room comfortable and clean. The deadlock to room 104 not able to engage properly as door misaligned. Also walls very thin, noisy Neighbour until late didn’t help with getting to sleep could even hear them snoring when they did.

Loved every bit of the stay apart from the room 404 not hanging blackout blinds do at 6am the sun was bursting through the curtains. Bed was comfy though.

Staff were generally pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, there was an unreasonable stand taken on our first night, when the”systems went down” and we could not put our meal bill on the room. Also, the TV never worked during our stay in spite of everyone seeming to know what was wrong with it. No-one came to fix it. The breakfast was OK but, at dinner, they had no prawns (it was on the menu) and the steak was the smallest I’d ever seen. We held our wedding reception here 55 years ago. It was a lot better then. All in all, disappointing.

Overall an amazing place to stay By far the largest room I’ve ever had in a hotel with its own corridor to room Lovely place First stayed here about 8 years ago and pleased to say it’s been even further improved My bathroom needs minor improvement, pin hole in shower feed pipe and minor blackened silicone of the freestanding bath. Overall a beautiful location just a shame about the weather as always

The Hotel was nice overall, but i was very disappointed to be half naked in my room getting ready for a shower, and a female resident who had just arrived entering my room. She too had been given the key to room 215. Both of us were very embarrassed, with very little apologies coming from the hotel staff.

As soon as we stepped in to the property I was happy. The check in went very smoothly. Every member of staff we came across was friendly and helpful. Our room was small, but had everything we needed. I loved that we had bottled water, a choice of sparking or still. Also nice hot chocolate as well as tea and coffee.The beds were very comfy with nice pillows and they had very nice fluffy towels in the bathroom.I would definitely stay again

Absolutely love this boutique hotel. It not only has charming rooms but a fantastic restaurant with a lovely pub area. It's great if you want to go for a walk as there are several tree-lined streets. Would highly recommend if you are staying near the airport as you can take the airport relief Road. Have stayed here on numerous occasions

We stay at the Stanneylands when we fly in and out of Manchester, either to / from the US, or the Continent. It allows us to get to / from the rental car village, Styal Village and The Ship Inn, and the wonderful full English Breakfast they offer in the mornings

1 check in e de sk so had to wait a long time to check in. Room dirty and poorly maintained. Bathroom layout very poor. Curtains no match for very bright external lights. Breakfast selection poor and was asked to move seats No one asked how my stay was when I checked out. JW Lees using my email to send unsolicited marketing emails despite advising I did not want to receive them.

Staff were generally pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, there was an unreasonable stand taken on our first night, when the”systems went down” and we could not put our meal bill on the room. Also, the TV never worked during our stay in spite of everyone seeming to know what was wrong with it. No-one came to fix it. The breakfast was OK but, at dinner, they had no prawns (it was on the menu) and the steak was the smallest I’d ever seen. We held our wedding reception here 55 years ago. It was a lot better then. All in all, disappointing.

Beautiful building with lovely, spacious, clean rooms. Beautiful bedding! Friendly, attentive staff. Cooked breakfast was delicious, but continental selection lacking freah fruit and no fruit juices. Has to ask specifically for juices abd also for toast. No preserves or marmitr/ spreads available.

Lovely hotel, good rooms and a well laid out bar/restaurant with the added outdoor space. It’s a shame that there was a mess up presenting our evening dinner, and breakfast was boarding on shambolic. We shall return, but may be miss out the breakfast .

La habitación olía a cañerías y estaba muy mal iluminada. Por el precio pagado, el baño dejaba mucho que desear. Al WC le faltaba la tapa, había mucho moho en el techo del baño y la grifería estaba vieja y faltaban piezas. Había una lámpara de techo justo encima de la ducha que no se ajustaba bien al techo - un peligro! El desayuno OK, la parte continental era muy escasa aunque bajé a las 9:15 lo que podría considerarse algo tarde allí. El garden breakfast tenía la peor salchicha vegetal que he probado nunca. No volvería.

We stayed overnight at the Stanneylands in order to visit Quarrybank Milk. We found it comfortable, we ate on the restaurant which was good basic food and good vale. Excellent breakfast.

The breakfast and restaurant area were great but the rooms are very tired and need updating. Scuffed walls, old fashioned bathroom which wasn’t very clean and dirty carpets.

Attractive premises. Room comfortable and quiet but showing signs of ageing; the key-card was faulty and I disliked having to stand on a rubber mat in a bath in order to take a shower. The arrangements for breakfast were baffling. It turned out to be DIY and without clear instructions. I had hoped for bacon and egg, tea and toast but the food was sitting pre-cooked in metal containers kept warmish by spirit lamps so I couldn't have a fried egg. Tea was a tea-bag in a thick beaker, with hot water from a push-button dispenser. I failed altogether with toast.
