Charming Cottages. Very convenient and close to Carmel Beach yet a bit removed. It was just as advertised, pleasantly. A couple cottages joined around the fire pit and roasted marshmallows, very enjoyable evening.

The stay was wonderful. From the cute and quiet cabin to the landscaping. The staff was very helpful and parking was included. The swimming pool out doors was heated. Close to Big Sur and other beautiful places.

Cute place. Didn't start in the cottages. Stayed in the main hotel. Didn't get in the pool. Had a nice firepit in the center of the cottages. Cute little river view from our balcony. No air conditioning so we had to leave the doors open until we went to sleep. Didn't get during the night so that was nice

What is not to like about this property? It was a 5 star experience, and a great experience for our service dogs, and all dogs. Our cottage had a great shower, a great bed, a nice dining area, it was exceptionally clean, had an enclosed rear porch and we were surrounded by magnificent trees and beautiful flowers and shrubisch. The location was perfect and close to HWY 1. We look forward to our next visit :D

It was so clean. It came with a refrigerator and microwave plus a mini sink. Shower was great. They had a fire pit outside we used for s’mores. Next room and bed for kids was great extra.

Our recent stay was enjoyable and relaxing. The rooms look out to a small river that had ducks. At night, you can hear the frogs which I loved. The pool was heated which worked out great on a not so sunny day. It’s right off highway 1 which made it nice to drive up the coast and venture to nearby views. You do have food options nearby. I would stay here again. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is that our room didn’t not have a microwave which is nice to have when you stay more than 1 night.

Cute cabins and motel with patios by the Camel River. Not all rooms are on the River, and some that are have a flood berm which blocks the view. Late nights are quiet enough, but as the property is right on the highway it’s very noisy during commute times. There was some loud hammering and equipment work on the property at 7:30 am. It’s quaint. Guests are required to bag up used towels and trash and place outside for clean ones, which are left outside for guests to retrieve. No housekeeping is available dueing stay. On balance, the only thing which would discourage us from returning is the road noise and early jack hammering.

The pictures of the cottages that the hotel advertises are not the same they offered me. The cottage is old, a lot of rust parts, specially in the bathroom. The shower is very small and uncomfortable to take a shower. Windows and sink had a lot of mold. I booked this cottage because of the ad, but it was all a lie.

We liked the back patio with a view into a little creek- The property was in need of renovations; cracks in the tile, bubbling of wood at floor from water damage, paint over mold in bathroom. Honestly, expected a little bit of a nicer place based on the photos. Maybe we just got the worst room? Not sure. Staff was friendly though!

Unfortunately garbage was left under sink from previous occupants and cleaning cloths left on nightstand. Otherwise accommodations were nice. It’s a nice property and excellent for taking your four footed friend. Would book again.

The bed was very comfy. The room had a funky smell We put the sign on the outside of the door to have our room tidied up and we can back after being gone most the day and the room was not made up.

We loved this spot, we stayed in one of the 2 bed cabins. It was cozy and updated, while still being amidst nature. There were walking paths and beautiful trees and gardens all around the property, which set this place apart. I also enjoyed having a a little deck to sit on while enjoying my morning coffee.

The Carmel river, surrounding woods, and chirping frogs are all literally right outside the back door. A large neighborhood shopping area is a two-minute drive, and all the rest of Carmel is very close despite the hotel being slightly out of town. Our only real complaints were the thin walls of the main hotel and the lack of a microwave to go with the nearby food shopping.

Charming old fashion hotel. Friendly staff, very clean room, no AC, shower stall very small, shower head pipe moves a lot, beds are small and balconies are all connected where someone from another room can walk through the partition that only partially blocks each room

This place was even better than I was anticipating. We loved our cottage with a wet bar. Super clean and modern inside. The clawfoot bathtub was lovely and I actually didn't know it was going to have a fireplace unit in it. Would definitely recommend or stay again.

The beds were comfy. The rooms should be offered downstairs for elderly. It would be nice to have a fan or white noise machine to block out highway noise.

Stunning location, gorgeous accommodations, and incredible staff. Less than a 10 minute drive to downtown. I stayed in of the cottages and enjoyed the extra privacy. Having morning coffee in the patio was absolutely lovely. Everyone we met from check-in to check out were incredibly hospitable and kind. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Carmel!

All of the cottages were attractive from the outside. The entrance to the property was right off the main highway, yet wasn't noisy. The cookware was in pristine condition. The bed was comfortable and many layers of covers of various thickness were provided, so you could get your temperature just right. I would have appreciated if I could have turned off the outside light on the cottage. I don't like coming in the window at night when I'm trying to sleep. There was a blind, but no curtain to block the light.

I recently stayed at the Carmel River Inn, and I must say that my overall experience was quite disappointing. While the inn itself is situated in a beautiful location and has the potential to offer a comfortable stay, there was one glaring issue that marred our visit. The major problem we encountered during our stay was the malfunctioning heater in our room. Given the premium price we paid for our stay, we expected all amenities to be in excellent working condition. Unfortunately, the heater did not function properly, leaving us in a cold and uncomfortable room. We had to resort to using a portable heater that was provided, which felt like a makeshift solution and not what we had anticipated for a stay at this price point. The fact that the heater was not working properly was not only inconvenient but also, in my opinion, entirely unacceptable. It's fundamental for any lodging facility to ensure that basic amenities like heating are in perfect working order, especially in a location like Carmel where cooler temperatures are common. While the surrounding area and ambiance of Carmel River Inn are undoubtedly charming, the experience was overshadowed by the discomfort caused by the heater issue. I would strongly urge the management to pay closer attention to the maintenance and functionality of amenities to avoid similar disappointments for future guests.

Loved the property and the balcony. My only complaint was that I booked room paid on Expedia and when I received Crete card bill they charged us $100. We had not pets and I called but the guy said he couldn’t help me

We chose the Inn vs. the cabins and we were not disappointed. We had a great experience and you can’t go wrong with this dog friendly Inn. Our patio had a great view of the river and you can sit comfortably on your patio chairs and enjoy nature. Close to shopping, definitely a plus. Fun and friendly service as well.

The Place is really beautiful! we are definitely coming back again, the only down experience was the staff who assisted us was a little mean. I had to work so we aren't able to arrived till almost 10 pm. We received to calls from this person and we let him know that we apologize for any inconvenience of our late check in. but this person is obviously upset and did not give us any smile or welcoming mood when we arrived. it was my husband and I Wedding anniversary and we just escaped for a night. So that kinda ruin the mood. the employee in the morning is very polite that is why I still put at least 3 star on that. all in all the place is nice and clean.

We received to calls from this person and we let him know that we apologize for any inconvenience of our late check in. but this person is obviously upset and did not give us any smile or welcoming mood when we arrived. it was my husband and I Wedding anniversary and we just escaped for a night. So that kinda ruin the mood. the employee in the morning is very polite that is why I still put at least 3 star on that. all in all the place is nice and clean.

Stunning location, gorgeous accommodations, and incredible staff. Less than a 10 minute drive to downtown. I stayed in of the cottages and enjoyed the extra privacy. Having morning coffee in the patio was absolutely lovely. Everyone we met from check-in to check out were incredibly hospitable and kind. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Carmel!

What an absolute gem. We stayed to be close to Carmel by the sea and Big Sur. Carmel was a little over a mile away and Big Sur about 45 minutes. It was our perfect, large, quite, beautiful grounds, retreat at the end of the day. Away from the hustle and bustle of Carmel but still close enough to have good cell reception and WiFi. Beautiful grounds to walk and nice parking areas right outside our cottage. Staff was kind and friendly, especially Umberto when we checked in.

Nice sized king room for two people and 2 bigger dogs. Really great price for the location—walkable to downtown Carmel if you’ve got the time and don’t mind hilly, sidewalk-less streets. Sound carries easily throughout the building, and the balconies are not fully closed off from the rooms beside you. Those were the only two things that I found negative, but wouldn’t deter me from staying again.

We loved the easy check-in, it was pet ftiendly, your own perdonal space at the cottage and beautiful and relaxing surroundings full of quiet. Definitely going back. Location was convenient to shops, restaurants, and gas stations.

Loved patio view of Carmel River. Lovingly kept up with retro charm like 60's tile still in the bathroom. However,noisy traffic from Hwy 1 runs right at edge of property. Very hard to find. GPS brought us into dead end street behind property. Actual entrance off HWY 1 is precarious and dangerous to get in and out off. At night cannot see the sign for the place. Desperately need a bigger lighted sign, But good restaurants nearby ( not walkable ) and convenient for hopping on 1 to go to Big Sur.

Amazing!!! The casita was adorable and the grounds were very pretty! The staff were very helpful. My only advice is to not risk your life by ever turning left onto Highway 1 from the property entrance. There is no visibility for oncoming traffic which will be coming toward you at a very high rate of speed, so much safer just to take a right and make a U-turn in a safe spot down the road. This only applies to exiting the property. This was a wonderful place to stay! Would definitely recommend and would totally stay there again. Very relaxing!

Our recent stay was enjoyable and relaxing. The rooms look out to a small river that had ducks. At night, you can hear the frogs which I loved. The pool was heated which worked out great on a not so sunny day. It’s right off highway 1 which made it nice to drive up the coast and venture to nearby views. You do have food options nearby. I would stay here again. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is that our room didn’t not have a microwave which is nice to have when you stay more than 1 night.

Our stay was very enjoyable. we stayed Sunday night after attending mass at Carmel's Mission Basilica Church within 2miles, an amazing church n experience. Next, we ate at Mission Hills Ranch Restaurant buffet with views of the beach n goats n deer. We then spent 3+ hours at Refuge, a 10 pool spa resort at Carmel Valley Athletic Complex(CVAC). We spent the rest relaxing outside our door along Carrels River just feet away n downtown Carmel just 2miles away. Blissful Experience!

Amazing stay! We stayed in one of the studio cottages, a pet friendly one that was newly renovated. It was better than expected! The cottage was great, and had everything we needed. The location was absolutely perfect. Located right off hwy 1. Easy to get to 17 mile drive, Big Sur, down town Carmel, the mission. Right across the hwy is also a shopping complex and has some good restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!

Large room, very comfortable bed. Nice view of the river from my balcony. I got complimentary coffee each morning at the office, rather than using the generic hotel coffee in the room. So much better, from a local coffee roaster! Very friendly office staff. The only negative was that there was a fair amount of road noise during the day.

Great location on our road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles. They recommended a great restaurant nearby for supper and close to Carmel for brunch the next day. Comfortable rooms which could do with a bit of an upgrade but clean and with great amenities.

I want to start out by saying they were extremely accommodating to any of my requests and were able to text me with the answers very quickly. We arrived later than we anticipated due to the weather, and they made arrangements for us. When we arrived, we saw a very quaint bedroom that had a beautiful fireplace and in the bathroom a very large bathtub that could fit two people. We had brought our dog and they gave us a wonderful welcome with a doggy dish, rubber pig and dog bone. They also provided special rags to wipe our dog off from the rain. I have never seen that before. It was very sweet. They had an ample fridge and microwave and they had plates cups and bowls in case we wanted to get takeout. They really did think of everything. The beds were comfortable. When we woke in the morning it was so beautiful outside. They had beautiful flowers everywhere the landscaping was gorgeous. Then we also noticed that they had a large fire pit with chairs around it. We were able to walk her dog all over. I was so impressed with all the amenities. I am definitely coming back again. In fact, I called my mom and told her and she said she was going to be making reservations the next week.

I wish someone had warned us that hotel rooms do not have AC. We arrived late from a long travel day, just wanted to go to bed and it was 85 in our room, with the front desk's only recommendation being "open the doors and let it air out." It was 82 or hotter in our room after dark two of three nights, and even sleeping with windows open and fans on only got it to the mid-70's by morning.

This well cared for and clean establishment has a comfortable friendly atmosphere. The 2 of us and our dog stayed 2 nights. We all enjoyed our cottage, slept well, and walked around the grounds. We prefer slow mornings, like our coffee and eat lightly in the morning, so was very happy with the morning coffee station, complementally coffee, plus some specialty coffees and breakfast snacks available for a fee. Our overly confident small dog liked meeting the other dogs that were often about. Everyone, staff and the other guests were friendly.

While the river doesn't run this late in August, the property more than makes up for it with its peaceful, charming atmosphere. The staff is warm and accommodating, and the morning food truck serves delicious breakfast bites. We opted to upgrade from our reserved hotel room to Cottage 37, and it was worth every penny.

The property was pretty nice.it is very famiu friendly and gives a warm and comfort feeling. The cottages are different experience compared to other stays around the area. The fireplace were good. They have a nice little garden and swing which is pretty cool. The staff are very friendly and polite. Our rooms were not ready by the checkin time due to some technical issues in the room but they made sure they will call and gave an update and offered to store the luggage in office. Overall our stay was awesome.
