Very nice motel. Right on the beach. You can tell they have upgraded the rooms a bit. Some of the amenities are still older but it was a very clean room. They don't have an elevator so if you have bad knees the steps to the 3rd floor can be brutal. Love the easy check in Out. Will definitely stay again.

The room was clean and staff was great. The parking was the problem. The lot is tiny and only small vehicles could maneuver a parking spot without hitting another car. Only one vehicle per customer was a problem since my son drove separately. I ended up paying to park my truck on the street because of the aggravation of trying to squeeze in and out of tiny spots.

We had a first floor double bedroom and it was perfect. It has an efficiency kitchen and 2 full bathrooms. The staff was great. Everything is done by text to communicate but they have another hotel next door that has someone at the desk that can help. The pool was perfect. Parking is free for only one car but there is paid street parking so plan ahead to pay about $20 a day for a 2nd car.

Nicely located on beach and next to the Kure beach pier. Quiet area. Most things to do are in Carolina beach so it’s about a 10 min drive to get to the majority of restaurants and kids activities. Pool was nice and parking was off street so that helped.

Check in was easy, they were able to get checked in early (for a fee) which was nice. Small but sufficient parking lot. The pool was very nice and well kept. Having the beach access right there, along with a hose to spray off was really nice. Loved being so close to the pier. Definitely would stay again.

Walls are marred and dirty everywhere. Curtains are old and faded. When I walked around barefooted for a little while, my feet became black with grime. Two pillows had dirty spots with either poop or blood? The AC was loud and literally falling apart. I went to the desk to get some duct tape but I was told “no”. Went to Walmart and bought some and taped it back together. Did get a one-day refund for that. Requested an upgrade to another room on the property but was told no because I booked through Expedia. Never again! BTW, I have photos for all of the above and would be happy to share

The room was not very clean, the toilet seal was gross, the smell was terribly musty, noise from upstairs was so loud, couldn’t use the coffee machine easily, no chair for watching tv, difficult to get tv working and screen was needing to be repositioned. Sorry , we would not recommend this room

The room was dirty, dead flies all over, the parking lot shined their headlights right into the bedroom, the bed was pushed right against the window. There was mold all over the ceiling and bathroom, I have pictures. They double charged me even though I paid through Expedia and finally they ended up reimbursing me. If I didn’t get a good deal via Expedia I wouldn’t stay here ever. Saw cockroaches on their boardwalk and the walkways to the rooms.

Website was deceiving on amenities. Did not have a kitchen or even bigger fridge as in posted website photos. Rooms were small. Room was not cleaned. There were stains and filthy carpet. Splatters of dried substances on the doors and walls. There were roaches alive and dead in the room and on the porch outside of the room. It was difficult to find parking there also. The price paid to book this rental exceeds the quality and value compared to other rentals at other property location in Myrtle Beach, SC previously where we had clean rooms and amenities exact as shown on the website including accessible parking. I feel like we were overcharged in the price at Sand Dunes Motel due to the quality, conditions, size of our rooms, bathroom was cramped with a small stand up shower, roaches, splatters on the walls, dirty stained carpets, upon entering our room coffee maker filter was laying in the floor. Called the Sand Dunes office went to voicemail. Spoke with them next day to get our towels at adjoining motel named Admiral the lady blamed 3rd party for posting deceiving pics that Sand Dunes amenities was supposed to have. I was very disappointed with my stay there.

I would stay here again but things are used and starting to get old. The thing that needs to be upgraded immediately are the beds. Both beds were very old. No cushion on top. Springs feel like they are coming through the top and both mattresses sink down in the middle. You could not lay on the bed without rolling to the middle. Uncomfortable to sleep on.

The location is fine but our oceanfront room looked out on a parking lot with a lousy view of the pool shed. The ocean barely visible and no view of the beach. The room was clean and comfortable. A second or third floor room would have been fine. They should have told us about this when we booked.

Great location 3 minute walk from the pier and several shopping and dining options. The property was nice for an affordable room. The room included a stove which would be nice if you were prepared to cook. It’s a nice basic clean room. The only real complaint is the bright lights on the exterior hallways that make the room seem like it’s daytime in the middle of the night. The little blinds don’t do much to keep the light out. Our room was pretty small so that light affected all of us.

Stayed here last year also and both times we had such a good time. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Had an issue with our code to get in and they were there to handle it within 5 min, had a clogged toilet and it was fixed quickly. Were we’re also there for the tropical storm that hit really bad and the crew was there cleaning up afterwards.

Our stay was good. Clean room. The mattress could have been a bit better. We had issues with air conditioner- but I called and they immediately put in a new one. Hotel stay was very friendly and attentive to our needs, location is great, will definately stay again❤️

They would not let us check in before 4:00 pm, which would not have been a problem but the motel was less than half occupied. We did not see a single staff person our entire stay. Everything was done by text message. Our shower was not clean, we took photos as soon as we entered the room. Not satisfied to say the least.

Everything was ok until we tried to leave the room. The lock didnt work. When we returned we were locked out. No one was in the office or answered the phone. After a while we fpund someone putside smoking who was the office person. Because hotels.com couldn’t charge is a $3 fee and Sands didn’t tell us they locked us out. Tv didnt work. AC was like a freight train. Not a great anniversary/birthday trip. Bathroom door didn’t close. Circuit breaker scary

Perfectly located for access to Kure Beach dining, pier, etc. The ocean view room overlooks the pool and parking lot which is not totally scenic, but the ocean more than makes up for it. The only complaint I could possibly make is that the beds squeak very loudly at every small movement—makes sleeping difficult. But this is our second stay at The Sand Dunes, and we love it for the value and convenience.

Nicely located on beach and next to the Kure beach pier. Quiet area. Most things to do are in Carolina beach so it’s about a 10 min drive to get to the majority of restaurants and kids activities. Pool was nice and parking was off street so that helped.

Our second time here and we love it. Price is good and the hotel was eco friendly and it was clean. We loved it near the beach and easy access to everything. We will definitely book again.

I have absolutely no complaints about the cleanliness of the room. The room appeared to be clean. Bedding looked nice. It was the overwhelming odor of mold/mildew. My sister has terrible allergies and the odor in the room put them on full blast. She was a little miserable all week. We had to spend a day to rewash all of our clothes due to the odor. It seemed to be worse in the closets. I dont know if this is an issue with all of the rooms and maybe thats why a room exchange wasn't offered?? Overall, the staff was very nice and tried to resolve the situation. I do believe its an issue beyond their control.

It ended up being nicer than I thought it was going to be. I got the 2 queen room with kitchen, balcony pool view. It was a nice size room, didn’t feel small. Kitchen was good size, fully functional, full size fridge and bathroom was good size. Clean, beds are very comfortable and the pillows are sheets were also. Clean white bath towels and plenty of them. Nice pool and very easy walk to the beach front. One minute walk to restaurants and Kure pier. Staff was supportive and friendly. Make sure to check in on line, makes it much easier to get into your room. Plenty of parking, I had a great time and I most definitely will stay again.
