My friend and I stayed one night and wish we could stay for longer. Lovely staff, nice private onsen and there is a restaurant on the first floor and rooms are on the top floor, the restaurant is a bit pricey but food was delicious. Overall, wonderful stay, highly recommend.

Auberge de type ryokan avec Yukata a disposition. Onsen privatif très propre et confortable. Le personnel est très accueillant et pas de souci avec la barrière de la langue. Un des meilleurs moment de notre séjour au Japon

This was a secure ryokan with only 3 rooms on the top floor. We could store our luggage there before our check in and for a few hours after checkout, which was really helpful. Toilet upstairs near the room but shower in the onset area (spa not traditional onset). But noisy with creaky floor at night. Smell of sewage in room at night, but not too strong and mitigated by use of aircon all night for ventilation. Overall it was a really nice stay, with gorgeous breakfast (self made but ingredients provided)

Beautiful guesthouse with a private onsen we could book. Aircon in the rooms gave it a modern take on a traditional style. Amazing location, so peaceful. Great facilities and the burgers downstairs were amazing!

This is one of the best private onsen, traditional Japanese hotel that you can try in the hakone area. I almost don’t want to leave a great review because I want to be able to book it again. Super clean. The breakfast provided was delicious. And the star of the show is the private onsen that can be booked once you’re on the property. I wish we stayed longer. Beautiful accommodations!!

This was more like a hostel and not a ryokan. Shared bathroom and toilets. We were informed about it the night before and given the option to cancel if we didn’t want that. However, our booking was non refundable within 24hrs of check in. We were not happy about it. They did not serve breakfast. They only gave some bread rolls in the room , we were expecting traditional Japanese breakfast at a place that calls itself ryokan. Their hot spring is not real natural hot spring. They have a hot bath what uses water procured from a hot spring and recirculated. We had to make our own beds . This is a traditional bed we had to make by putting the mattress on the floor and then using bedding etc. there was not help provided by the staff. If there was no staff at the restaurant downstairs then there was no staff on premises. The only good thing was the burgers they served downstairs were really good but very expensive!!

Clean with hot spring bath (not natural spring). Really small room. Had to get used to communal toilet and bath. Walls between rooms are thin. We had the misfortune of having a noisy neighbour who kept us up well past midnight.

This little gem truly rocks! Close to the rail station, only 8 min walk. The property is a historical building, owned by a Geisha. Its a only 3 rooms facility. The onsen is great a plus to rest from a day of hiking. Couple things to be aware: bathroom is shared. Not a problem, at least in my case and i was a little aprehensive with this but, i didnt find an issue. The shower is in the onsen, so my advice, as soon as you arrive chose your time and put your room in the time you prefer, i did that and it worked great. The hotel is the same location of Burger Box, the best burger i ever tried! Dont miss the Matcha beer! Excellent place! The whole building is art!

昔は置屋だったようで、隠れ家的な雰囲気があって◎です。チェクインもチェクアウトとも、QRで楽々です。モーニング用のパンとスープも最高です。一番素敵なのは、古い建物のはずなのに、シッカリリホームされていて、綺麗です。びっくりしました。この辺りの価格帯を考えるとbestに近い宿ではないでしょうか。

The Hakonawa guest is beautifully situated in the hills of Hakone. Tucked a short walk away from the main street, you cross two beautiful bridges and are taken into a beautifully peaceful corner. The staff are very helpful and kind. The rooms are perfectly clean, and for those that havnt stayed in a guest house or ryokan, this is a great introduction! The onsen is shared between the guests by a booking system that ensures everyone gets the chance to enjoy, a definite must try. Lastly the breakfast, that you find in your room upon arrival and is topped up daily, is amazing. There is a self service area for you convenience that has everything you will need. We really enjoyed our stay here thanks to the care and attention from the wonderful team

Abbiamo prenotato per goderci una notte l’onsen e per spezzare il viaggio kyoto tokyo. Tutto sommato l’esperienza é stata positiva, lo stabile è in stile ostello quindi con ryokan privati ma bagno in comune, non è molto scomodo dato che le camere sono poche e i servizi molto puliti ed efficienti. Anche il ryokan molto carino (consigliato a coppie per le dimensioni della vasca termale). Molto carino il kimono che viene lasciato nelle camere. Unica nota negativa la colazione. Molto scarsa con cibi preconfezionati, molto “fai da te”

Really enjoyed our stay at the Hakonowa Inn はこのわ. We stayed 2 nights in the prefect location. The staff were helpful, enthusiastic and polite. The breakfast was delicious, the room super special and comfortable and the facilities were amazing. Absolutely would recommend.

La struttura è un edificio storico in legno, con una camera ampia in pieno stile giapponese. Futon molto comodi. Wasn't looking for a ryokan style accommodation so surprised to get one. Most of the time there's no staff and the bath is shared among three rooms. Decided to skip my stay short after one night.

Great stay for solo traveler one night! Such a cute boutique accommodation. Know that it’s a shared toilet and shower (at the onsen on bottom floor) but this was fine for one or two nights. I wish I had time to try the restaurant Buger Box! The ladies working the restaurant were very friendly with great English.

Deuxième séjour dans cet hôtel. Je le recommande fortement si de passage sur Hakone. Le personnel est très gentil et serviable. Le onsen est un plus et permettra de vous relaxer. Je recommande également le restaurant qui sert de délicieux hamburger.

This was more like a hostel and not a ryokan. Shared bathroom and toilets. We were informed about it the night before and given the option to cancel if we didn’t want that. However, our booking was non refundable within 24hrs of check in. We were not happy about it. They did not serve breakfast. They only gave some bread rolls in the room , we were expecting traditional Japanese breakfast at a place that calls itself ryokan. Their hot spring is not real natural hot spring. They have a hot bath what uses water procured from a hot spring and recirculated. We had to make our own beds . This is a traditional bed we had to make by putting the mattress on the floor and then using bedding etc. there was not help provided by the staff. If there was no staff at the restaurant downstairs then there was no staff on premises. The only good thing was the burgers they served downstairs were really good but very expensive!!

Really enjoyed our stay at the Hakonowa Inn はこのわ. We stayed 2 nights in the prefect location. The staff were helpful, enthusiastic and polite. The breakfast was delicious, the room super special and comfortable and the facilities were amazing. Absolutely would recommend.

The Hakonawa guest is beautifully situated in the hills of Hakone. Tucked a short walk away from the main street, you cross two beautiful bridges and are taken into a beautifully peaceful corner. The staff are very helpful and kind. The rooms are perfectly clean, and for those that havnt stayed in a guest house or ryokan, this is a great introduction! The onsen is shared between the guests by a booking system that ensures everyone gets the chance to enjoy, a definite must try. Lastly the breakfast, that you find in your room upon arrival and is topped up daily, is amazing. There is a self service area for you convenience that has everything you will need. We really enjoyed our stay here thanks to the care and attention from the wonderful team

This ryokan made us wish that we stayed an extra day in Hakone. The ryokan was a perfect place to get home to after you do a tour of the many sights of Hakone. Though the ryokan was provided with modern utilities, it has retained the authentic Japanese charm, even when it offers a very good burger restaurant. The Onsen was perfect. We actually got lost while trying to look for it, but it was a great sigh of relief when we got to one of the most charming places we’ve seen.
This ryokan made us wish that we stayed an extra day in Hakone. The ryokan was a perfect place to get home to after you do a tour of the many sights of Hakone. Though the ryokan was provided with modern utilities, it has retained the authentic Japanese charm, even when it offers a very good burger restaurant. The Onsen was perfect. We actually got lost while trying to look for it, but it was a great sigh of relief when we got to one of the most charming places we’ve seen.

Beautiful guesthouse with a private onsen we could book. Aircon in the rooms gave it a modern take on a traditional style. Amazing location, so peaceful. Great facilities and the burgers downstairs were amazing!

This little gem truly rocks! Close to the rail station, only 8 min walk. The property is a historical building, owned by a Geisha. Its a only 3 rooms facility. The onsen is great a plus to rest from a day of hiking. Couple things to be aware: bathroom is shared. Not a problem, at least in my case and i was a little aprehensive with this but, i didnt find an issue. The shower is in the onsen, so my advice, as soon as you arrive chose your time and put your room in the time you prefer, i did that and it worked great. The hotel is the same location of Burger Box, the best burger i ever tried! Dont miss the Matcha beer! Excellent place! The whole building is art!

La struttura è un edificio storico in legno, con una camera ampia in pieno stile giapponese. Futon molto comodi. Possibilità di usufruire gratuitamente del loro onsen e di cenare in struttura dove fanno degli hamburger strepitosi. Colazione inclusa e in ogni camera sono forniti anche abiti tipici giapponesi

Abbiamo prenotato per goderci una notte l’onsen e per spezzare il viaggio kyoto tokyo. Tutto sommato l’esperienza é stata positiva, lo stabile è in stile ostello quindi con ryokan privati ma bagno in comune, non è molto scomodo dato che le camere sono poche e i servizi molto puliti ed efficienti. Anche il ryokan molto carino (consigliato a coppie per le dimensioni della vasca termale). Molto carino il kimono che viene lasciato nelle camere. Unica nota negativa la colazione. Molto scarsa con cibi preconfezionati, molto “fai da te”

My friend and I stayed one night and wish we could stay for longer. Lovely staff, nice private onsen and there is a restaurant on the first floor and rooms are on the top floor, the restaurant is a bit pricey but food was delicious. Overall, wonderful stay, highly recommend.

This was a secure ryokan with only 3 rooms on the top floor. We could store our luggage there before our check in and for a few hours after checkout, which was really helpful. Toilet upstairs near the room but shower in the onset area (spa not traditional onset). But noisy with creaky floor at night. Smell of sewage in room at night, but not too strong and mitigated by use of aircon all night for ventilation. Overall it was a really nice stay, with gorgeous breakfast (self made but ingredients provided)

This is one of the best private onsen, traditional Japanese hotel that you can try in the hakone area. I almost don’t want to leave a great review because I want to be able to book it again. Super clean. The breakfast provided was delicious. And the star of the show is the private onsen that can be booked once you’re on the property. I wish we stayed longer. Beautiful accommodations!!
This is one of the best private onsen, traditional Japanese hotel that you can try in the hakone area. I almost don’t want to leave a great review because I want to be able to book it again. Super clean. The breakfast provided was delicious. And the star of the show is the private onsen that can be booked once you’re on the property. I wish we stayed longer. Beautiful accommodations!!

The check in is on an ipad and very fiddly. I was also not sent online check in in advance as it said it would. After check it everything was great though, but it made the start very stressfull

こちらの温泉は家族風呂の大きさの岩風呂でした。 使用しているシャンプーやリンスはとても上品なもので 洗顔ソープにキュレルが使用されている所が気に入りました。 特に肌の弱い女性には、この配慮に感動することと思います。 チャックインとチャックアウトはタブレットから行うようで 前日に登録したメールに暗証番号が送られていましたが 宿泊に使用したメールアドレスは通常見ない為、宿泊先に着いて から調べてもらう等お手数をおかけしました。 遅いチェックインの場合は気を付けた方が良いかもしれません。

Staff were very friendly! Not sure if I missed it in the description, but the bathrooms are shared and in order to shower you need to book the onsen. By the time we got there all the times that worked for us were booked. The onsen was just a tiny little hot tub essentially in a depressing room-not really what I was hoping for. The soup served for breakfast was great! Overall, I wouldn’t stay again as I don’t like hostels, but if you do then this is an okay find.

Very atmospheric stay, great to experience a traditional ryokan. Hosts exceptionally friendly and helpful. Location quite convenient and walking distance from all of Hakone-Yumoto. You get to book a private 'onsen', although this would not be your typical onsen experience in Japan, closer to a basement jacuzzi. Excellent and relaxing and great to have such an option, but worth considering if you wanted the Japanese onsen experience. Also the private bathroom is actually shared between the three rooms, in case that is a dealbreaker.
