Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Homestead Florida City

Fairfield by Mariott is definitely one of my “go to” hotels for short stays, but this one in Florida City has by far the worst facility and amenities I’ve ever encountered by Mariott. We were there 4 days and received bad news/service each day. 1. I did an early check in as a Bonvoy member and when I arrived at 11 am there was no room ready… fair enough. I know early check ins aren’t guaranteed.. even though there were maybe 4 cars in the parking lot. 2. The pool looked NOTHING like the picture, and even so … it was CLOSED for “maintenance.” As a family of 5, you don’t take your kids to FL and expect to stay in a hotel where the pools closed. 3. We had a suite, again, family of 5. I opted for room service during my stay, so imagine my surprise on the second day when no one had brought towels, taken out trash .. nothing. I called the front desk and was told room service only comes “every other day.” So of course we had to go down and get our own towels. I’m expecting full room service the following day, NOPE… they only dropped off towels (no face towels) and took out the trash! I asked why nothing else and was told it’s “just a refresher.” Lol 4. Attempted to log in my Netflix account and it wouldn’t work. Front desk says “oh yea I know they tv gives you an option to do that but we don’t offer that service. 5. Monday morning … NO COFFEE. I was told the coffee machine had been broken all week!! Huh??? At a hotel? How and why is that even possible?!

Clean and quiet, the only downsize was that the pool was closed...

If you have a pool for guest make sure you have locks to the pool for outside people who just come to use what your guest pay for. Sad that puke, food and drinks were all over and your staff acknowledged but, never cleaned nor did anything about it. Will stay with a different organization from now on regardless of where we frequently travel.

Excellent new hotel. Breakfast was amazing. Hot and cold selections. Nice shower and products. Lots of fee parking. The only issue was that the hotel had no WiFi, a problem with the internet, which was rectified in the morning. Recommend.

GOOD: Breakfast was great. Location is great for accessing Everglades. BAD: Property is simply not very secure- hotel side door was stuck open. We had to pull our door closed or it would remain open. The pool has no security- you enter from the outside of the hotel and there is no key card reader or anything. There were two tvs in our room (one in front of the bed and one in front of the couch/pullout) and one remote, which is just weird. Night front desk staff was responsive but definitely did not enjoy their job.

We did not shop. The gym equipment was more than adequate.

Very clean hotel. My room smelled nice. You do have to put your key card next to the door to use the lights. I didn't figure it out for a while. lol. I will be staying there again.

The hotel is riddled with ants when I say there are ants everywhere in the laundry the answer in your personal room the Answer all over the doors in the hallway. It’s a really bad problem.

It was clean and we enjoyed our stay. The complimentary breakfast was also very good. Will stay there again!

Cleaning staff didn’t make my room for the whole duration of stay. I leave early in the morning and back at evening each day.

I was disappointed in the cleanliness. I never leave bad reviews. Typically I just move past things. The hotel seems fairly new but the room itself was very dirty. The first night I noticed a pile of dried vomit in the carpet next to the bed that had not been cleaned, still had solid matter in it. There were other clearly dirty spots on the carpet in a few areas. The bed sheets and pillow cases smelled dirty, had hair in them..not just one several long hairs. But it was late, I was tired and had my own pillow. The shower knob was also not working, I tried calling the front desk a few times, but got no answer. I happened to have a tool set in my travel bag and was able to fix it myself.. No big deal, took 5 min and I needed to get to sleep. The next morning 6am as I was leaving I went to the front desk and told them about the vomit and sheets. I was very polite, discrete and didn't make a scene about it. I asked that they please take care of it. I was gone 14 hours and returned to a room that the bed had been remade with the same sheets, the vomit had not been cleaned and the trash cans were full from the meal leftovers I had the night before. I had just completed a full day of motorcycle racing school and was exhausted, so I just showered and went to bed. I was alone and can deal with gross if I have to, but if my wife was with me, we would not have stayed in that room. It was pretty nasty. Luckily the vomit didn't smell and was on the other side of the bed floor.

Our stay was great, for the very short time we were there. Both the front desk associates we interacted with during check-in and check-out were great. Hotel was clean, room was great, bathroom was sexy. Hotel lobby and breakfast area was comfortable. Only knock was our room when we got into it and settled, we found out the carpet in almost half the room was sopping wet (presumably from A/C). We didn’t checkin until 10:45pm & by that time kids were already done and ready for bed, and asking to move rooms was unnecessary. We just worked around it, but otherwise it was a great, quick visit.

The room was ready and it was clean. The bathroom was very comfortable. And the room was big for not being a full suite.

The location is convenient and close to the Florida Keys. The staff is friendly and professional, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the Continental breakfast is varied. Overall, the stay was excellent.

Only the bathroom shower curtains were a little short, so all the water was ending up outside the tub.

Outside needs to be kept up…and by that I mean pick up the trash. It looks terrible as guests enter the hotel. Beds are uncomfortable, pillows absolutely terrible. You need a mix of soft and firm. Our thermostat kept ticking..almost like one was tapping glass. Woke us up at night which of course is not a good thing.

Clean, modern, large room - exactly the quality we have come to expect from Marriott. Front desk staff were incredibly helpful, and bent over backwards to accommodate an early arrival after a long day of travel. An absolute steal for the price, with super easy access for exploring the Keys and Everglades

I guess I really shouldn’t expect much service-wise these days, but we had a few issues during our stay. First, the woman at the front desk when we checked it was very short with me, so much so that my son-in-law actually noticed and commented. Then, we saw on a small sign (but were not told) that we would not have any maid service during our stay unless by special request. OK, fine. Daily maid service is quickly becoming a thing of the past at many hotel chains. When we got to our room and saw only two bath towels for four guests, we called down to the front desk only to be told that the towels were in the dryer, and they would bring some up when they were dry. Of course, that never happened, and we called again in the morning, only to be told that, once again, the towels were in the dryer, and they would bring some up when they were dry. Three hours later, we went down in person, only to be told again that they were in the dryer. So we ended up sharing two towels between four people. Gross! Finally, at seven in the evening, we asked the man at the front desk for two more towels, and he went back and got them for us. Honestly, why does a hotel not have at least one towel per guest ready and available at check-in? Again, I recognize that many companies are having service issues these days, but it still negatively affected our stay.

I was charged more from the hotel than what my booking site charged, which I am currently working to rectify. I was charged for parking with no knowledge of it. We asked for extra towels and had to argue to get bath and pool towels. The staff is horrible.

We checked in at midnight. Shawn at the front desk was extremely courteous and helpful. The kind you won't find at most places. It was a pleasure to talk with him. He took good care of us.

Lady at front desk was smiling and friendly. Very, very nice and clean as a whistle. Great stay.

AVOID THIS HOTEL AS MUCH AS YOU CAN! THEY WILL DOUBLE CHARGE YOU! I booked one night stay through Expedia in late December. I showed up at the hotel and they had my reservation. They asked for my credit card for deposit just in case. A few days later, I found out that the hotel charged me again for the night I had already paid through expedia. I called hotel twice. First time they told me they made a mistake and would reimburse me. Nothing happened so after a few days, I called them again, they said they could only find that I paid with expedia and they could not find the record that they charged on my credit card. However, the charge was STILL on my card! I had to go through month-long process to dispute with them through my credit card. It is still not resolved after more than 1.5 months. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS HOTEL! STAY AWAY IF YOU CAN!

The hotel wouldn't let my employee checkin after a 16 work day because he wasn't 21. I had 2 nights booked for him. The website has this listed under another page instead of the first page so I would not have been aware until 2 am when he was trying to check in. They would not refund the room.

Great Hotel close to all points south of Florida

It was in a convenient location for our travels.

Great hotel at great location to prepare a trip to Key West.

The room was nice but seemed smaller than other Fairfield’s we have stayed in. Area around the property is a little run down. Did not understand why parking charge is added for this property

This is a very nice hotel in a great location either before starting down the Keys or as a stopping off point when leaving the Keys.

Great place to visit the Everglades

The area is not safe but the property is ok.

Fairfield was a convenient place to stay for our activities the next day at Biscayne NP.

Staff is wonderful, property was wonderful My only complaint was there is not enough breakfast. Breakfast ended at 9:00 during the week and if you didn't go down before 8:00 they ran out of a lot of things.

Nice clean property. Rooms were spacious and modern. Breakfast was unfortunately quite poor which let down the stay. It appeared there only one person covering the whole of breakfast. Food ran out and was not refilled, bins overflowing. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise nice stay.

Everything was great except on our first morning, breakfast was not available at the time listed. Coffee was ready, but it was another 30-40 minutes before food was ready. There also was not a full breakfast that day; choices were slim. Since we were looking at an early start and planning a lot of physical activity, that was a poor start to our day!

Comfortable stay. What you would expect from a Fairfield Inn. I was surprised by the $10 per night parking fee. Yes, it was noted way down in the hotel details. Breakfast was mediocre. Cold bacon substitute, watered down oatmeal.

I was shocked to find the breakfast ended at 9am which is earlier than most hotels we’ve stayed at. For such a large lobby dedicated to eating it seems wasteful to only have it open so briefly.

To start with the one thing I look for is cleanliness... This hotel is very clean and very reasonably priced... Super clean and staff was very courteous. Great location for getting onto the Keys out and back. Free breakfast with eggs, waffles, cereal, yogurt, etc but thats all you need to start the morning off.
