Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We (two couples) stayed for eight days at the Moana Imaku. We were delighted with the property and location. It was comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, including various herbs and spices left by earlier renters. If you need a rental that accommodates a wheelchair or walker, the house is very accessible with a ramp, and wide doors in the main bedroom and ensuite with room to maneuver. The lanai was fantastic. We spent a lot of time there, rain or shine. We could hear the waves crashing and there was a view of the ocean through the park. Of course, it's a good drive to most locations but we enjoyed exploring the Puna area and the walks we took through Hawaiian Beaches. As is not unusual, there's no air conditioning but lots of fans and windows. The breeze usually cooled the house fairly quickly after it was closed up for the day. We did have a couple of minor issues - but the property manager took care of them promptly. (Some ant traps took care of a few too many sugar ants, and some magic repair of the fan remotes until the replacements arrive!) And we were greeted on arrival by "Henrietta" who also wandered through the yard daily! We would happily stay here again.

This was a perfect spot for our 4 generations of family ! My 80 yr old father, 30 yr old daughter and kids (12,8 and 6) all felt safe, comfortable and had plenty of room for all of us to enjoy. Loved walking across the road to the park ~ the rental had great beach chairs in all sizes for us to carry across the road where we would sit on the grass and enjoy the amazing ocean view!!

We especially enjoyed Spencer Beach Park. We went to sleep every night to the rustling of palm trees and woke every morning to birdsong and the sound of the ocean. It was really so hard to leave and head back to the last snow of an Alberta winter. We have always been impressed with the VRBO homes we have rented in the past and Hale Imaku did not disappoint. The residence is in excellent condition, stocked with all the goods needed to cook for your family including pots, pans, serving bowls, kitchen utensils, spices, cooking oil and a filtered water container in the fridge. They also have ice chest, beach chairs, towels, bug spray, sunscreen, games and cable tv. Just about everything you could need for staying I. Or exploring the island. Location is great, just takes about 45 minutes to get to Hilo for beaches and shopping centers. My favorite feature of the property was the lanai, seeing and hearing the ocean right in front of us in a large gathering spot while playing cards with the family over great conversations made for the perfect ending to each day. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!

The property was very clean, kitchen stocked with everything you need. The porch is awesome. It has a great view and always had a breeze. Would stay here again for sure. The mermaid ponds are right down the street!

Lovely, spacious home, was well done - BUT - has had damage that hasn't been repaired. No air conditioner was a deal breaker. Although it cooled off outside at night, the lack of breeze left the house so hot we didn't rest well, and the home sits on a main street leaving multiple parks and there was traffic all day and most of the night and the cars accelerating up the hill, along with the birds singing all night, then chickens in the morning, with the windows open, made for much interrupted rest. Best part was the lanai which was lovely, but the grill was filthy before we cleaned it.The other icky things are something smelling rotten in the main bedroom closet and the dishwasher malfunctioning. We started the dishwasher when we left one morning and returned to a not draining fault code. Removed the filter and pulled out hair and shards of glass, then washed off the greasy residue. This did not clear the fault so moved downstream and disconnected the dishwasher drain hose and removed more shards of glass and a woody stick from the dishwasher drain line. That fixed the problem. To their credit we did not notify the manager but do you think they would call a plumber/maintenance in on Sunday night for a dishwasher?Last concern is the bedroom lights had pull chains to control lights and fan speed. Someone using a wheelchair would not be able to reach the light control chain. Some rooms had fan/light control remotes but not all.

The kitchen was equipped with everything to make meals so that was very nice. The patio had a beautiful ocean view, very peaceful and relaxing. The neighborhood is quite so that's a plus.

We had a wonderful stay at Moana Imaku. Everything was as advertised but the furniture on the lanai is getting a bit weathered. That being said we did spend most of our time out on that lanai staring at the ocean and enjoying the sounds of the neighborhood. I was up early every morning to see a beautiful sunrise over the ocean. The location was great, from there we drove around the island. The kitchen is extremely well set up and made cooking from home easy. Would definitely go again.

The place was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The outside space is to die for. The park across the street is a great place to see the sunrise. When exiting the property, if you take the road around the curve, it is an amazing scenic drive! We would definitely rent this place again!

The property is near the ocean. Great view from the lānai. At night the house was warm and the flooring was slippery and damp. The ceiling fans were a nice option to try and cool the house down. The house was clean and there was plenty of space. Check-in and out was easy.

Place was amazing, it was quite, except for the frogs at night, but they didn't bother me at all. There is no AC , but with the fans on and windows open it was fine. Love the lanai, I was able to just sit out there for breakfasts and dinner and enjoy the ocean view, the breeze, and the chickens. The only thing is I wish there were more hooks in the bathroom and a night stand in the bedroom with the twin beds. I had no where to put my things and I usually have a cup of water near me at night. The bedrooms were big with enough closet space. The place is only close to an hour drive to the National Park and close to half hour drive to Hilo. So it wasn't far to do the things I wanted.

House is exactly as advertised. Check in process was easy. We enjoyed the book of information about the area of the house and things to do. Lanai is the place to be as the main houses very hot and stuffy during the time we stayed there. We open the windows at night, and used all the fans. Bring earplugs if you Can’t sleep with nature noises lol. Neighborhood is definitely far away from the touristy area so be prepared to drive when you want to do something. That was our plan all along so we had no issues.

The property is near the ocean. Great view from the lānai. At night the house was warm and the flooring was slippery and damp. The ceiling fans were a nice option to try and cool the house down. The house was clean and there was plenty of space. Check-in and out was easy.

We especially enjoyed all the fans in every room and the nice large lanai, where we had breakfast every morning looking at the view of the ocean. This is a very spacious property and had lots of room for the three of us. There were plenty of windows to open when we returned after a day of touring around, which helped to dissipate the heat.

It was comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, including various herbs and spices left by earlier renters. If you need a rental that accommodates a wheelchair or walker, the house is very accessible with a ramp, and wide doors in the main bedroom and ensuite with room to maneuver. The lanai was fantastic. We spent a lot of time there, rain or shine. We could hear the waves crashing and there was a view of the ocean through the park. Of course, it's a good drive to most locations but we enjoyed exploring the Puna area and the walks we took through Hawaiian Beaches. As is not unusual, there's no air conditioning but lots of fans and windows. The breeze usually cooled the house fairly quickly after it was closed up for the day. We did have a couple of minor issues - but the property manager took care of them promptly. (Some ant traps took care of a few too many sugar ants, and some magic repair of the fan remotes until the replacements arrive!) And we were greeted on arrival by "Henrietta" who also wandered through the yard daily! We would happily stay here again.

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moana Imaku. The house is located on the edge of a real neighborhood. Quiet and across the street from a neighborhood park. The complete opposite of a typical Hawaii condo development. The lanai is probably where we spent the most time, eating and relaxing. Restaurants and a grocery store are probably a 20-minute drive away. The slightly funky, small town of Pahoa is also close. The property manager was great. really responsive and friendly.

This property is absolutely beautiful. The location is far from most things, but by a beautiful state park. Everything about the property itself was great. However, the neighbors on both sides make it very clear that they would rather not have a VRBO nextdoor to them. The ones closest to the ocean called the property management company and made a false claim that some of the people in our party were smoking on the lanai. This was obviously not true and could have been fact checked with the cameras that are facing the lanai. There are several cameras on this property. Instead, we received an email informing us it was illegal and we needed to stop. The neighbor on the side farthest from the ocean started verbally harassing us on the day we checked in. He could be heard yelling "Shut the f*** up and get back in your f***ing rental" whenever we were outside, regardless of the time of day. Several people in my group are retired military and have hearing loss as a result so they do speak at a slightly higher volume than someone with perfect hearing. It definitely put a damper on our trip to feel like we couldn\'t go outside unless we were leaving.

We stayed here for six nights in December 2022 and it was a great house. The location is very quiet and peaceful, and the water view (not beach but beautiful volcanic rocks) is a short block away. You can see the ocean from the lanai. The house was very well outfitted, with plenty of cooking supplies and utensils. They had a nice stock of shampoos, body wash, etc as well. While it was a lot of driving to get to everything we wanted to see, that's just the nature of the Big Island. We would definitely stay here again. Oh, and Henrietta left us a couple nice gifts on our final morning!

The location is perfect if you want a quiet, peaceful vacation. Shopping and restaurants are a 15 minute drive. The Lanai was a gem!!! I appreciated all of the amenities for handicapped visitor, with easy access to the house (ramp) and the shower.

We stayed in Moana Imaku for a week and loved it. The house is really nice, the neighborhood is safe and quite and the ocean is just a two minute walk. We were there in July so we were concerned about not having AC. However, there are ceiling fans in all the rooms and the location cooled down enough that we had no problems sleeping. We did make it a point to be out of the house in the afternoons as it was quite warm.

The house is beautifully decorated, super clean, and comfortable. We wish we could have stayed longer! Just a few steps to an amazing ocean view! Would definitely stay here again.

Location was great! The neighborhood was quiet and super close to the water- perfect for sunrises!!The house was nice, but a little tired. Having beach towels and chairs available was a nice feature! The house got pretty warm while we were there, even with fans and the windows open. This may sound crazy, but turning lights on and off in this house was a challenge (remote controls for each light that didn’t always work - frustrating)Lol!Over all, we had a great time on that side of the island!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was perfect for our group, had everything we needed. It is in a very lovely quiet neighborhood with a view of the ocean. We had an amazing stay at Moana Imaku—everything was absolutely perfect. The home was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. One of our favorite parts was how close it was to the ocean. Being able to hear the waves all night long made it incredibly relaxing and peaceful. We truly loved our time here and would definitely stay again.

Beautiful location. Away from typical tourist locations. Peaceful. Easy access to many desired destinations. House comfortable and amenities for those who desire ADA accommodations. Will stay there again.
