The deck is large and we could hear the small creek from the porch. Porch has a gate so our dog could roam freely and watch all the animals passing by. Large gas grill. Paved roads all the way to the driveway. Powderhorn mountain is a nice community with lots of trails and a swimming pool right by a lake.

Also really appreciate the good quality beds and comfort of this home they did not skimp on making your stay feel luxury but cozy. We willl definitely be back the gated community was also adorable.

The cabin was so lovely, very well appointed and the kitchen was well stocked for culinary adventures. We loved having breakfast on the deck and watching the geese and ducks frolic in the pond. This was our first trip to the mountains for my son, Solomon. We had a wonderful time. The house was amazing and perfect for what we needed for the weekend getaway. We enjoyed listening to the creek that flows next to the house and hiking the trails around the house as well as grilling out and watching the deer who were grazing right next to the deck. We went to Tweetsie Tailroad on the Saturday we were there and the house was close enough to many different places. September 3rd was my 38th birthday and mySon and I went to enjoy the amenities that the community offered. We rode the paddle boats and walked the trails and he enjoyed the playground. It was overall a memorable and special weekend and we thank you so much for making it possible. Hope to visit again soon.

Cabin and surroundings are beautiful. The furniture & styling -very cool. Great communication from the owner. The bed(s) are not very comfortable. The road to get to this cabin is very winding and long and well off the beaten path. Love the firepit & outdoor lighting. If you are looking to stay put and not venture out everyday- this cabin is perfect.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin driveway is a little tricky to maneuver as it is gravel and on an incline. For someone like myself who has mobility issues it was extremely difficult to walk up to the stairs without assistance. The creek along side the cabin was very nice and peaceful. We did not get to use the deck or fire pit as it rained almost every day. Inside the cabin we noticed immediately the living room windows had no curtains and your neighbor can see directly into the cabin as they are higher up. I found dirty dishes on the shelf which was an immediate turnoff, the plastic plates on the top shelf. The cabin itself is nice, but could use some freshening up and cleaning. The bedroom closet with the queen sized bed was full of items like fans, an Irobot vacuum, items on the shelf as well making use of the closet for suitcases or shoes not possible. The only thing you could use the closet for is to hang up clothing. The closet door is also off the track so it swings open and does not stay closed. My spouse being 5' tall went to put the garbage out and discovered that the receptacle is a lift top and you must stand on a piece of wood beam that is not secure to place the garbage in the receptacle. This is very dangerous and really should be doors that open in the front as we saw inside the community at other cabins. We did use the washer and dryer which was a nice feature to have, but the soap dispenser tray needs to be cleaned. Overall it could be a very nice location, but definitely needs a good cleaning and some attention to maintenance and storage of items so the closet can be utilized.

We had a wonderful visit at this cute little cabin in the woods. The property is beautiful and has a gentle creek passing along the edge that our girls spent many hours exploring. The cabin appeared newly renovated and very clean. It's kitchen was well stocked and had everything needed to prepare meals. This is something we have struggled to find in the past. I feel like the owners really considered all of the necessities and provided everything wanted for an extended stay. A very well thought out binder was provided with all of the local activities, restaurants, trails, and contact information. We used this on a daily basis and it was very helpful to plan out our daily activities. Prior to our arrival we had a last minute change to our schedule and our contact was very responsive and helped us with the adjustment with ease. The only recommendation I would have to the owners would be to replace the bed/mattress in the master bed room. It was extremely uncomfortable, so much that we actually needed to flip the mattress after several nights without sleep. This did improve some, but it really should be replaced. The twin beds in the second room were very comfortable. Overall we were extremely pleased and would recommend this home as a lovely getaway!

Great place! Nicely renovated! Clean and comfortable. Kids especially enjoyed the video games during a rainy day. Neighborhood is great for exploring and plenty to do with kiddos. Also convenient to Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone, etc. had a great time!

This cabin was clean, well-stocked, updated and comfortable. It is situated in the trees with a small creek on the property. The kitchen was very well-stocked and there’s a good hairdryer in the bathroom - bonus! The master bed is a bit squishy & squeaky - it could be replaced. Same with the outdoor furniture that’s pretty old & rusted. But all in all, a great stay!

Cabin and surroundings are beautiful. The furniture & styling -very cool. Great communication from the owner. The bed(s) are not very comfortable. The road to get to this cabin is very winding and long and well off the beaten path. Love the firepit & outdoor lighting. If you are looking to stay put and not venture out everyday- this cabin is perfect.

The cabin is lovely. Tastefully decorated and has everything a family could need and more. It was the perfect place for us to disconnect from life and get back to the basics.The creek runs directly to the side of the cabin and was the highlight of our stay. The kids loved looking for worms, crawdads, and other creatures. Great selection of games (most of them my kids had never played) in the closet and great selection of DVD's available...although the TV was rarely on. Cool afternoons and light rain made each day so comfortable. The only thing that was negative was the queen bed was very hard and uncomfortable. My husband ended up sleeping on the pull out bed so we could attempt to sleep a bit more comfortably. We are both very tall and queen beds are tricky regardless. Even with that we would still love to stay here again.

I rented this place for a peaceful solo retreat. The cabin is very comfortable and clean. I immediately felt safe and right at home. It has all of the modern amenities you could ever need for a cozy escape to the woods. I loved the little goat milk soaps from Bougie Co! The property has so many great features too. A view of the lake filled with singing frogs, a small creek that runs along the side of the cabin, and a hiking trail right next to the cabin that takes you around a second lake. Susan was very kind, fixed issues very quickly, and ready to answer any and all questions. Thank you again, Susan! I can’t say enough nice things about my stay here. Take your family or go all on your own. I will definitely return! P.S. Take the time to read all of the instruction for the property before you go. Extremely helpful!

Check in was a breeze. Kitchen was stocked with anything you might need. We had no problem with cell service at the property. The book left by the owners was very helpful!The porch overlooking the creek was the perfect place for a peaceful cup of coffee in the morning while reading my book and watching the deer.

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The cabin driveway is a little tricky to maneuver as it is gravel and on an incline. For someone like myself who has mobility issues it was extremely difficult to walk up to the stairs without assistance. The creek along side the cabin was very nice and peaceful. We did not get to use the deck or fire pit as it rained almost every day. Inside the cabin we noticed immediately the living room windows had no curtains and your neighbor can see directly into the cabin as they are higher up. I found dirty dishes on the shelf which was an immediate turnoff, the plastic plates on the top shelf. The cabin itself is nice, but could use some freshening up and cleaning. The bedroom closet with the queen sized bed was full of items like fans, an Irobot vacuum, items on the shelf as well making use of the closet for suitcases or shoes not possible. The only thing you could use the closet for is to hang up clothing. The closet door is also off the track so it swings open and does not stay closed. My spouse being 5' tall went to put the garbage out and discovered that the receptacle is a lift top and you must stand on a piece of wood beam that is not secure to place the garbage in the receptacle. This is very dangerous and really should be doors that open in the front as we saw inside the community at other cabins. We did use the washer and dryer which was a nice feature to have, but the soap dispenser tray needs to be cleaned. Overall it could be a very nice location, but definitely needs a good cleaning and some attention to maintenance and storage of items so the closet can be utilized.

We had an amazing time on Horn Mountain at Penny Creek Cabin. We saw about 100 deer, wild turkeys, and otters. We went on hikes, swam in swimming holes, saw waterfalls, and fished. Perfect time to unplug and get away. Susan was very helpful with everything we needed.

Great place! Nicely renovated! Clean and comfortable. Kids especially enjoyed the video games during a rainy day. Neighborhood is great for exploring and plenty to do with kiddos. Also convenient to Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone, etc. had a great time!

This is a beautiful wooded location. It was so quiet. We saw many Deer both morning and evening hours. One disadvantage was the long and precarious drive in and out of the location. There are many hairpin turns. We were still able to get to desired locations like Boone and Blowing Rock. The property was clean and inviting. Phone service was finally established by using the WiFi provided at the property.

We really enjoy this cabin in the woods. It was adorable and very well kept. The mountain roads we're a bit of a tough drive with my younger children who get motion sick, but it was definitely worth it. I would stay here again.

The house was beautiful. The only thing i will need to bring next time is a full size coffee pot (they had a small 6pot and a pod coffee machine) and a baking sheet. Everything else was there. One of many in a large gated community but still very quiet. Roads are mountainous but well paved. The images show a firepit, but there was no fires allowed at the cabins, so we didn't get to enjoy that feature. It takes about 15 minutes to get to get to Rte 221 which is the main connector road but what a ride! We plan to retun soon.

I loved the cabin - it was very clean and had ample supplies. I loved that there were board games and every kitchen utensil you could think of for a rental home. The aesthetic details are very well thought out and the beds are very comfortable.
