We found the perfect place to take our e bikes on the canal trail. The access to the trail was just a short bike ride down the driveway to the access point to the Canal Trail. The Apartment was fantastic, clean and comfortable and a fully stocked kitchen. We had our dinner on the extremely large porch enjoying the view of the river and wild life. We lucked out in seeing a Bald Eagle swoop down and catch a fish. The next day we went for a 4 hour ride on both sides of the canal trail, drove to the Lambertville Station Inn for dinner. Finished the evening with a drink on the porch watching the river. A great experience and wonderful time. We will be going back.

Stuart's place was the perfect spot for our family's short vacation. We were traveling during a major heat wave and were always very comfortable indoors with the air conditioning and ceiling fans, and outdoors due to the shade from trees and the large, covered deck that faced the river. Check in and check out were very simple, and Stuart was very easy to communicate with at every point. We had everything we needed for prepping simple meals, making coffee, reheating leftovers, etc. The location was great for it's proximity to many activities and restaurants in nearby towns such as New Hope, Lambertville, etc. All in all, this spot was a truly magical retreat and I think anyone would be happy to just stay at the property and enjoy the serenity. The nearby visitor-friendly towns are an added bonus. A few other reviews had mentioned bugs and I think that might depend on the season and how careful you are about not leaving the doors open.

The River Retreat is very aptly named. Located on a secluded section of the Delaware River with a large back porch to take in the wonderful river view. The accommodations were excellent as was the communication provided by host Stuart. The River Retreat provides easy access to historic towns on both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania side of the Delawaeincluding Stockton, Frenchtown, Lambertville, New Hope, and Lumberville. We have already booked another stay for September. Paul F.

This location was great for our small crew of kayakers and eBikers. There were plenty of places to drop in kayaks along the river, and the eBike trail at the end of the driveway went for many, many miles.Stuart was very helpful and quickly answered all of our questions. The gardens were beautiful, and great to hang out by the fire when night time came.

We brought our 11 month old on her first family weekend trip, and this place was perfect. We love New Hope and know it well, and this was a nice distance from there to accommodate naps and doing some sightseeing. Super close access to the canal trails, and the most awesome porch. We spent most of our time out there when at the rental!

Just spent two cool, rainy nights here and it was still an incredible stay. The river was very high from all the rain and it was a delight to sit and watch it go by. The covered deck is comfortable and well appointed, the bedrooms were lovely, the kitchen small but perfect for our needs . Close to New Hope for dinner and window shopping. We will be back!!

Beautiful location on the Delaware River. Lots of cute local browsing & shopping areas to enjoy. Great local eateries to choose from. Best part is you are right on the Delaware for waterfront views and activities! Host was great and communicated with us easily. We look forward to returning during the summer months!

The apartment is clean and well equipped for whatever your your adventures might lead to...and there is plenty to do in the immediate area. That said, it was tough to tear ourselves away from the beautiful view on the deck! Stuart is a phenomenal host.

We enjoyed our stay. There were some ants in the bathroom and one bed had very sour linens. Luckily, there were clean sheets in the cabinet and we changed them and were good to go. Stuart was very nice and quick to communicate and un-intrusive. We would stay there again.

The place was just like it shows. Very clean and the kitchen was well stocked. It was a surprise to find coffee and tea there which was nice to have to not worry about going out to get since our visit was a short weekend stay.

River Retreat is a great secluded location with beautiful gardens, river views and access. The apartment is cute, and provides everything needed. The only negative was cleanliness. I am meticulous, and it was not up to my standard. Also, there were many bugs inside, after killing these, we did our best not to let any more in. I understand it is difficult to keep them out being by the river, when going in and out the door. Power washing the outside under the porch roof might help. Otherwise, we enjoyed the location very much.

Very dirty kitchen and bathroom. Serious amount of mold in bathroom. I think there are issues with the shower and toilet drains. When bringing to the attention of the host, he declined to clean. VRBO saw my pictures. Said it was not an issue. There was another mold in the bedroom. We would not use the shower and put towels on the floor in bathroom. Host refunded all our money, and vrbo canceled the listing. We went elsewhere the next day.

The beds and covers were dirty. Same for pillows and carpets. I have been renting from vrbo for ten years, it is the first time I have rented such a dirty house. I ask vrbo to help me pay all my payments back.

We had a nice stay. We were at Peddlers Village for the most part so we didn't spend too much time there. But, it was pleasant and peaceful when we did. The hosts were responsive. The space was clean (though maybe not deep-cleaned. Found a used glass on the windowsill, shower and sink could have used another scrub) Great water pressure. Plenty of towels. Some fun board games available. There were plenty of appliances to use in the kitchen and the first bedroom had a super comfy bed (the other is in serious need of an upgrade). I was disappointed by the lack of bedroom doors (there are only curtains) and we weren't fans of the bright green walls (but we knew that going in). Also, while the river was lovely to look at, the backyard was a bit of a mess. All in all, it was a great spot for the price.

I rented this place according to pictures and reviews. This house apartment was filthy. I had to clean refrigerator before i put my food in. Kitchen appliances filthy, dirty spots on kitchen walls with some thing stuck on it. Black mold in 1 bedroom and bathroom. Dust on everything. A small used peice of soap for us to reuse in the shower. Icing on the cake was when my son found a mouse in his bed, and mouse droppings on the extra towels we were to use! I suffer with a serious immune deficiency from a stem cell transplant, and the conditions of this unit are dangerous for me to be around. The picture shown must be very old, because there is no clear view as shown, its covered in vines. I have stayed in many vrbo's, this was the worst. The add says to treat this as if it is your house, I do not live like this, its unacceptable.

We had to spend the first evening cleaning the refrigerator and bathroom black mold. . The house needs a good cleaning in general. It looks like the cleaning fee we paid has been pocketed by the owner as the spaces under the furniture and kitchen cabinets hoses various items from food to game pieces. Only half of the paper towel roll provided. We would not recommend this place.

River Retreat was a perfect stay for us as we attended a sibling/cousin reunion across the river. The Cottage feel stay was quiet, peaceful and fully furnished. K-cup coffee and maker even. We did try to adjust the thermostat on the wall but ended up using AC window unit which was fine—suggested to leave an outside broom to sweep off deck. (I'm a floor person).

My wife and I stayed at River Retreat for four nights following our wedding. This hidden gem was exactly what we wanted. The home is comfortable and very quiet.

Communication was great! It was quiet location, end of lane. We stayed in heat of summer but I bet the fall and winter are beautiful. Place could use some updating. Window a/c’s were quite loud.

Had a great time. The apartment was cozy and clean and nice place in Stockton NJ right on the Delaware River. The surrounding surrounding area of New Hope, PA is beautiful. Three breweries within 15 min as well. Unfortunately we had a rainy weekend but still made the best of things. Only complaint is we never got to meet Dorothy the cat. Nice place would highly recommend for a weekend getaway.

This is our favorite VRBO property. Absolutely beautiful setting with magnificent views of the Delaware River. Great accommodations that are maintained with care and attention. Also, great location close to New Hope and Lumberville on the PA side of the Delaware River and Lambertville, Stockton and Frenchtown on the NJ side.

If you are looking for peace and solitude - this is your spot! The back porch overlooking the river and all the wildlife is spectacular. The location was close to New Hope, Frenchtown, Lambertsville, Peddler's Village - so made venturing out very easy. We also discovered a walking trail alongside the property. Stuart was extremely easy to communicate with and if you are looking for privacy - he kept to himself. My mom and I never even saw him or his wife. Honestly I don't know how you can get a better location for a get away. We would highly recommend this home to anyone who enjoys the outdoors and river life as much as we do!

We have stayed at the "River House" many times over the past few years. Stuart & Pat are excellant hosts, and the apt is every bit as advertized and more! Quiet, relax, recharge, reconnect. Our favorite get-away. You know we'll be back!!

The River Retreat is very aptly named. Located on a secluded section of the Delaware River with a large back porch to take in the wonderful river view. The accommodations were excellent as was the communication provided by host Stuart. The River Retreat provides easy access to historic towns on both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania side of the Delawaeincluding Stockton, Frenchtown, Lambertville, New Hope, and Lumberville. We have already booked another stay for September. Paul F.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The porch was a fantastic place to start and end the day. We enjoyed the wildlife too. The host was very responsive to our needs and provided everything he could. The place is conveniently located near New Hope and Peddlers Village while providing privacy and quietness. Thanks, Stuart!

This location was great for our small crew of kayakers and eBikers. There were plenty of places to drop in kayaks along the river, and the eBike trail at the end of the driveway went for many, many miles.Stuart was very helpful and quickly answered all of our questions. The gardens were beautiful, and great to hang out by the fire when night time came.

Beautiful location on the Delaware River. Lots of cute local browsing & shopping areas to enjoy. Great local eateries to choose from. Best part is you are right on the Delaware for waterfront views and activities! Host was great and communicated with us easily. We look forward to returning during the summer months!

The apartment is clean and well equipped for whatever your your adventures might lead to...and there is plenty to do in the immediate area. That said, it was tough to tear ourselves away from the beautiful view on the deck! Stuart is a phenomenal host.

So glad I chose Stuart's apartment, it was perfect for our weekend wedding. Scenic Delaware Rive drive to get there then enjoy the same view from the porch. It is just like the pictures. Local restaurants nearby as well as Peddlers Village, the New Hope Railroad, the quaint towns of Stockton, NJ and New Hope, Pa. Stuart was always available by phone and we did meet him in person. All of our comforts were met. Highly recommend River Retreat !

We found the perfect place to take our e bikes on the canal trail. The access to the trail was just a short bike ride down the driveway to the access point to the Canal Trail. The Apartment was fantastic, clean and comfortable and a fully stocked kitchen. We had our dinner on the extremely large porch enjoying the view of the river and wild life. We lucked out in seeing a Bald Eagle swoop down and catch a fish. The next day we went for a 4 hour ride on both sides of the canal trail, drove to the Lambertville Station Inn for dinner. Finished the evening with a drink on the porch watching the river. A great experience and wonderful time. We will be going back.

We had a great stay. Gorgeous view and the place had all the accommodations we could want. Very close to some wonderful restaurants and the walking trail made for a fun afternoon.

We were looking for a peaceful retreat along the river we have loved for many years. River Retreat provided that for us. We biked 40 miles along the towpath. Fished near Bulls Island. Ate at wonderful restaurants nearby. Sipping coffee in the morning listening to birds, crickets and watching the gentle river. Thank you Stu.

A very beautiful lower apartment right on the Delaware river. Went away for a girls trip to relax and enjoy the Newhope Lambertville area. It was perfect for us and didn’t need anything fancy. A little bit farther from town then we guessed but it ended up working out because the evenings were much quieter. Really lovely stay thank you!

Quiet, peaceful, exceptional river views. Accurate description and comfortable space including room for adult kids to come and go. Hosts were attentive, accommodating and helpful. I would stay here again. It’s a bit distant from small towns for restaurants and shopping.

Enjoyed the stay. Stuart was a great host. Loved the amenities and being right in the lake. The porch was wonderful in the morning for coffee. So many things to do nearby. The canal path was perfect for a stroll along the river Would definitely stay there again if in the area.

Coming in from NY, this homestead was a perfect home for lengthy discussions and reflections. The home was emaculate and comfortable. Stewart, the host, was very welcoming and helpful. We will definitely follow up with a return visit.

Loved this Riverside retreat home! Very clean, lots of room, and the kitchen had coffee, cream and sugar. Host was very accommodating and friendly. Absolutely loved the area - such a beautiful and peaceful location with a lovely porch and great view! Very nice additions included a fire pit , swing chair, and ping pong table! Would definitely return and recommend.

Stuart was cool and very helpful! He came down to change the thermostat batteries after I’d arrived. The residence was very clean and well stocked, just as lovely as the photos had shown (albeit the dead plants outside because we came right after winter). Loved visiting Lumberville General Store for breakfast, Peddler’s Village in Lahaska and Lambertville/New Hope (both only 18 minutes away!). Beautiful riverside view as well and walking distance via towpath to Bulls Island bridge. Bedrooms are super cute!
