Beautiful place!! I loved how it was decorated, the colors in the bathroom. Beautiful view of the lake. The outdoor sauna was super cool!! The beds were very comfy. The jacuzzi tub and fireplace were so relaxing. The only thing I wish there was, was darkening curtains. There is a lot of natural lightening in these rooms which is great! But it was a bit blinding in the morning

Beautiful historic property. Clean room, comfortable chair and bed. Jacuzzi tub was excellent. View from upper balcony was great. Comfortable seating on the upper balcony. Self check in. Good breakfast of pastries and coffee/tea.

Overall we had a great visit! The room and house was very clean and we really enjoyed the sauna! Only issues were parking the first night (no spaces because a trailer was occupying one space) and there was no coffee and limited breakfast items when we came downstairs (we aren’t early morning risers!). Location was good. We drove up on our motorcycle and took a ride up the north shore. Beautiful!

The room was nice, but much smaller than the pictures lead me to believe. Our room was up three flights of stairs in the back corner of the house, so you should let people know there is no elevator. The clealiness was not great in our room, the whirlpool tub had a lot of hair in it and there were broken binders on the night table. Still gave it a four cause it was nice and an experience. Not to happy with yhe cleanliness of the room though.

Located in a beautiful neighborhood next to a creek. Nice extras, like a real coffee maker and Netflix. Lots of space and comfortable stuffed chairs to hang out in, outside of the rented room. I would come here again and recommend to others.

Very nice property. The room we stayed in the Barnum room had a very high bed. People who are not tall will need to hop up. Balcony is awesome, place is quiet and serene. Area to have coffee, fruit or pastries in morning. Will stay again.

I loved this place. The only thing I would add is the cement steps to the front door are uneven and if you have any issues with balance or injury to be careful. The house is beautiful, my room was exactly what I expected, and the staff I spoke with were wonderful. There is a fridge and microwave in the unit along with an ironing board and iron. On the main level, there is a toaster with the other accommodations they describe. Very relaxing and in a quiet neighborhood. I would recommend GG Barnum at any time.

We stayed at this property many times in the past as a B&B and were always happy with the condition and cleanliness. This stay, not so much. The room was dusty, the floor had paint chips scattered on the floor in the window area, the trim on the skylight window looked like it was about to fall off, and the water from the bathroom sink was brown. The color of the water did clear after running for about 10 minutes. The bathroom sink also drains very slowly. All of these items were minor, but if a room has not been rented in a while, it might be good practice to do a quick check before it is occupied. A positive for our room….the bed was very comfortable!

For starters, what a grand old house. The attention to details is a bit lacking for instance, the hair on the hardwood floor by the radiators, the dust on the bar fridge and ceiling fan. Topping it off was the 2 wet face clothes in the shower which was covered in hair along with the razor left for the next guest!!! Other than that the bed was comfortable, and the sheets were clean.....I think!!

It was such a beautiful property! We loved it the only thing we were concerned about was the cleanliness of the roo. Urine in toilet, tooth paste in sink, conditioner on shower walls and a bit dusty! The stay over all was so nice and we loved it!

The property was absolutely beautiful! It’s on a quiet street with ample parking. My only complaint was the bathroom cleanliness. I found hair on the floor and in the shower and the tub was slow to drain.

Lovely public areas downstairs, beautiful building, large and spacious room (Superior). Wasn't sure how to get Samsung/TV combo in main room working. Also came back one day to find my door open, likely because I didn't latch it properly, but not sure how that happened.

What a lovely find this was! Our room was really beautiful but also functional and comfortable. This is possibly the first hotel/rental place I’ve stayed where the couch was actually comfortable lol. Nice quiet neighborhood, and didn’t hear any more noise from other guests than you do at a standard hotel. We will definitely stay again!

I would have liked to receive the check-in info much earlier. Using my phone number was good, but I feel I got the information somewhat late. The morning food could have also been mentioned with signup. It was hard to find out how to turn up the sound on the TV, and my phone and Ipad couldn't find the wifi channel. It never showed up even when I type it repeatedly. With no one there, it was hard to get info.

This is an old mansion, so very unique with carved banisters and leather chairs. It also has very creaky floors. It is very quiet with no staff which is fine until you need them. The bed, a four poster, was lovely but I'm 5'9" and still needed a footstool to get in the thing. Over all a nice adventure. If you are into modern and having staff, this is not your place but if you want a unique experience that is quiet and out of the way then this place would be perfect.

The mansion was lovely and in a beautiful neighborhood. Location made it easy to visit family and friends. However, I would not choose to stay at this location again for a few different reasons. First, when we arrived it was about 10 PM and it was positively pitch dark in the hallway in front of our room. So much so that we had to use flashlights in order to put in the code to get into our room. This felt extremely unwelcoming. Then when we got in the room, we discovered that the bathroom was actually a Butler’s pantry that has been converted. The toilet was tucked under the pantry in such a way that you might hit your head and the sink was on the Butler’s counter with no mirror or good lighting in order to shave or apply make up. In addition, the beautiful shower that has been added does not close properly and thus water leaks out onto the floor. The breakfast pastries were not worth eating and there were several mistakes in the welcome book and directions (it is on the right- not the left) that made me feel this place isn’t all that well cared for. It wasn’t worth the money.

The GG Barnum mansion was awesome for a weekend stay! Very clean, easy check-in instructions, delicious fresh baked pastries for breakfast. The Pilothouse Suite was also very clean and private, at the end of the second floor hallway. The room was a bit smaller than I expected from photos, but still enough space for two. Highly recommend for a great stay!

We very much enjoyed our stay at the GG Barnum Mansion. Wonderful property. We had confusion at checkin, we had to call after we arrived o get a guidebook and lock combination.

My son and I picked this property for our stay while he attended a football camp at UMD. It was close to everything we were looking to do and see. The place was clean and beautiful. My only complaints would be that when I booked, I booked a room with a jetted tub as my son was prepping for the camp and wanted to soak. When we arrived, there was only a stand up shower in our room. Second complaint was that we did not recieve the check in codes prior to our arrival and we had to call a few times to get through to talk to someone about getting the codes. After the long 6-hour drive, it was sort of a pain to have to stand outside and wait for someone to a. answer the call and b. be told it was sent but never was, so I had to call back again. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique, clean and quiet place to stay.

I loved that this was a historic home. My husband and I had a delightful stay. The property is located very well as it is easy to get to much of Duluth's activities. The communication from Heirloom Properties was clear and easy.

Our stay at the GG Barnum Mansion was amazing! Check-in was so smooth, and all the directions/information provided were very detailed. We absolutely loved staying here and really enjoyed our weekend trip up north.

Hands down the best experience I have ever had! The space was absolutely beautiful and incredibly clean, locks on both the main entrances and private rooms ensured safety, and the staff was incredible - they gave us a call at almost 10PM to help sort out a parking issue (their availability is listed as 8AM - 8PM so I was beyond impressed when they reached out!). Will definitely be returning in the future!

We had an amazing stay, at this gorgeous historic property! I love the aspect of just letting ourselves in, felt so much like coming home to a beautiful top floor apartment of our own! We were in town visiting family and wanted our own place close by, and this was perfect! Loved the homemade breakfast pastries, and made coffee in our room, but there was a whole big pot ready for us downstairs in the piano room. Just so beautiful, and the big windows offered incredible views of the leaves changing colors from the big front porch and our room! Loved the hot tub after a long day hiking and visiting! My wife and I were in Duluth for a couple of days and didn't want to do our regular thing, which is stay at a hotel. I was a tad nervous because of the reviews of our specific room (weird bathroom setup, etc), but now I realize some people just need to complain about something. :-) This was a WONDERFUL place. It's a beautiful home, quiet neighborhood, and about 5-10 minutes from anything in Duluth. Just note that there is no "staff" on duty. You get a code to get into both the house and your room. There is a phone number you can call if something is needed but we did not need to use it because everything in the room was pretty much perfect. Will absolutely stay here again.

Only issues were parking the first night (no spaces because a trailer was occupying one space) and there was no coffee and limited breakfast items when we came downstairs (we aren’t early morning risers!). Location was good. We drove up on our motorcycle and took a ride up the north shore. Beautiful!

The room was very cozy and we enjoyed the fireplace and jet tub. It's a unique place to stay and conveniently located. What was highly disappointing was that it advertises coffee and pastries in the morning, however, on Saturday morning the pastries from the day before were what was sitting out and they were hard as a rock. We had looked forward to the idea of having pastries and coffee and staying in, and instead ended up having to go out to get breakfast. Also, the pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable. Overall, I think it was too expensive for what is provided.

The mansion was lovely and in a beautiful neighborhood. Location made it easy to visit family and friends. However, I would not choose to stay at this location again for a few different reasons. First, when we arrived it was about 10 PM and it was positively pitch dark in the hallway in front of our room. So much so that we had to use flashlights in order to put in the code to get into our room. This felt extremely unwelcoming. Then when we got in the room, we discovered that the bathroom was actually a Butler’s pantry that has been converted. The toilet was tucked under the pantry in such a way that you might hit your head and the sink was on the Butler’s counter with no mirror or good lighting in order to shave or apply make up. In addition, the beautiful shower that has been added does not close properly and thus water leaks out onto the floor. The breakfast pastries were not worth eating and there were several mistakes in the welcome book and directions (it is on the right- not the left) that made me feel this place isn’t all that well cared for. It wasn’t worth the money.

The GG Barnum mansion was awesome for a weekend stay! Very clean, easy check-in instructions, delicious fresh baked pastries for breakfast. The Pilothouse Suite was also very clean and private, at the end of the second floor hallway. The room was a bit smaller than I expected from photos, but still enough space for two. We absolutely loved our stay!! It felt like home away from home! Staff was quick to respond and helpful! We stayed in the creekside suite and loved it! The historic property is quite beautiful with many original features. Like any old home it need maintenance. The rubber roof has holes in it and is leaking on the southeast corner of the porch. The grounds are not maintained. I love old houses and this is an amazing property that needs some expensive love.
