The Rivulet was a beautiful property with all the amenities for a short stay in Hobart. We loved how close it was to battery point and the Salamanca market. Though we drove we loved taking cheap Ubers to dinner at de Angelo and to the Salamanca market in the morning (which the staff were kind to let us stay parked through though we had already checked out). The Ubers saved what we thought might be difficult weekend parking in town. The breakfast in the am was also delicious with kind service and nice conversation with the other guests. And the cherry on top were the cozy robes provided! We would definitely stay again!

The only place we’d stay in Hobart… fantastic breakfast, plunger coffee, complimentary port and a beautiful age setting and no children to boot. We couldn’t ask for better.

Easy check-in using a code with key in box on foyer table, accompanied with information in an envelope. Room La Perouse, ground floor. Lots of light from the windows that wrapped around two walls. One outlook was over the driveway and to the oval beyond. The back windows overlook driveway to the garden beyond. Spacious long bathroom. Excellent shower pressure. Separate bath. King size bed, electric blankets, king size bottom pillow and lovely bed linen. Breakfast is around a long oval ended dining table. Choice of three juices, kept cold by sitting in a basin filled with ice. Yoghurt, fresh fruits, nuts and seeds at one table. On the dresser top there were cold meats and cheeses accompanied with pots of two mustards. There was a tray of quiche slices and tray of different breads and croissants. On the table we’re individual servings of butter and jams. Pots of tea and coffee were brought to individuals upon request. The Rivulet is directly across from the Derwent River and the Wrestpoint Casino. Short drive or walk to Sandy Bay shopping district or into Hobart City.

Aperitifs available in the dining/sitting room for those who wish to partake at the end of the day. Quality selection of cold meats, cheeses, pastries, artisan bread, yoghurts, fruits, muesli, etc fo4 breakfast, along with choice of tea or coffee pots served for each couple/person. Spoilt for choice. Well done to staff who create a welcoming and inviting experience.

We had planned to stay 3 nights at the Rivulet, loved it so much we stayed 6 nights. This place is comfort and luxury. The old house has been renovated with taste and you feel so welcomed.The port offered il the lounge was a nice touch as well as the guest scullery with tea, coffee and wine. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, specially loved the French quiche. And the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff are remarkable.

We had planned to stay 3 nights at the Rivulet, loved it so much we stayed 6 nights. This place is comfort and luxury. Absolutely stunning property. The room are great and bathroom very spacious and modern. The garden is to die for. The dining room is amazing (and their breakfast too). The staff is very responsive and very nice. Easy parking spot on property. Very close from the main place by (5 min) or walk (30 min). Worth every $ - Highly recommend!!!

Our room on the 2nd floor was great, very clean and comfortable. The building itself is heritage and as you enter it there’s a distinct musty smell. We didn’t have this problem in our room, but our windows were completely fogged every morning. Breakfast was good. Overall, a pleasant experience.

Location is convenient, the room is very clean. The bed is king size and super comfortable. All the staffs are very polite and provide excellent service, I don’t have any complaints on it, we will stay here again when we visit Hobart.

Easy check-in. Seems to have changed staff or owner, as standards have slipped. After a full day and evening out, we returned to find lights and heater off (as we left it in the morning to conserve energy). Bedding unchanged, cups unwashed, everything much as we left it. This is the first time this has happened during our previous stays. We were not aware room service was not available after first night. Breakfast cloth placemats and serviettes on both mornings were placed neatly in cabinet drawers after people had used them, leading me to question whether they were being washed between use. Breakfast staff efficient at cleaning up to the point you are made to feel hurried while dining, the small plates removed when you intend to get something else (bare minimum plates are put out). Such a shame as this is a beautiful accommodation, in a convenient location and we have always enjoyed our stays in the past.

Very well presented room, spacious with huge bathroom including a bath and some goodies offered. Only reason not 5 stars is because housekeeping missed areas of dust and a few other things not quite right with the room, ie light switch broken, noisy bathroom fan and one electric blanket control did not work. Very nice breakfast, but we are not fans of 'en famille' dining.

The Garden Room at the back of the property is so quiet. Without any adjoining walls to other rooms there isn't any risk of over hearing your fellow occupants.

Lovely touches in keeping with the building's period. Easy check in, although no staff around. Instructions for same easy to follow. Only about a 1km walk to supermarket. Park and waters edge, a short walk around the corner. Lovely continental , breakfast. Cygnet room had a bit of noise from room above, and running water, and it is next to the front door, so some noise to be expected. Comfy bed. Lovely spacious room. Very modern bathroom and reasonably sized. Only things missing was body lotion, and cotton buds. Not a big deal, but little things that add that small welcoming feel. Forgot to find out the name of the young man who looked after us at breakfast, but his friendly smile and helpful attitude was a lovely start to the day.

This is one of the best places we’ve stayed in. We weren’t in the main house but were in the Watarah Cottage at the back of the back of the property. This building was free standing so was incredibly quiet. The kitchen was really well equipped, the bed was very comfortable and there was a whole separate dressing room to store luggage and other stuff. The breakfast in the main house was great…excellent service from Kathy! I highly recommend this place and would stay again if in Hobart.

We stayed in the Waratah cottage. So beautiful inside and out. Beautifully furnished. Very cosy and comfortable. Lovely little touches. A very enjoyable stay. Bonus was a beautiful walk in robe/ dressing room to unpack all your luggage without all the clutter in your room.

Though we drove we loved taking cheap Ubers to dinner at de Angelo and to the Salamanca market in the morning (which the staff were kind to let us stay parked through though we had already checked out). The Ubers saved what we thought might be difficult weekend parking in town. The breakfast in the am was also delicious with kind service and nice conversation with the other guests. And the cherry on top were the cozy robes provided! We would definitely stay again!

We did not spend long enough here! Lovely room, wonderful breakfast, really helpful manager and staff. You can stay nearer to town or Battery Point but this is super reasonable and well worth the extra nice walk

We had planned to stay 3 nights at the Rivulet, loved it so much we stayed 6 nights. This place is comfort and luxury. The old house has been renovated with taste and you feel so welcomed.The port offered il the lounge was a nice touch as well as the guest scullery with tea, coffee and wine. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, specially loved the French quiche. And the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff are remarkable.

Quality from entry to exit. Our guests enjoyed a tipple in the evening after a long flight. Comfortable bed, delicious and plentiful breakfast. Code provided prior to visit for entry into the property.

Easy check-in. Seems to have changed staff or owner, as standards have slipped. After a full day and evening out, we returned to find lights and heater off (as we left it in the morning to conserve energy). Bedding unchanged, cups unwashed, everything much as we left it. This is the first time this has happened during our previous stays. We were not aware room service was not available after first night. Breakfast cloth placemats and serviettes on both mornings were placed neatly in cabinet drawers after people had used them, leading me to question whether they were being washed between use. Breakfast staff efficient at cleaning up to the point you are made to feel hurried while dining, the small plates removed when you intend to get something else (bare minimum plates are put out). Such a shame as this is a beautiful accommodation, in a convenient location and we have always enjoyed our stays in the past.

Robert is such a fine manager of this establishment. We can’t fault our stays here. The most beautiful breakfast included, a cut above anywhere you would stay and a lovely half hour walk to Salamanca shops and surrounds!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Rivulet, Sandy Bay. Within walking distance to a variety of restaurants and close enough to drive to Battery Point and Salamanca. The Corinna room and bathroom are beautifully designed and furnished. The continental breakfast was sensational!

Easy check-in using a code with key in box on foyer table, accompanied with information in an envelope. Room La Perouse, ground floor. Lots of light from the windows that wrapped around two walls. One outlook was over the driveway and to the oval beyond. The back windows overlook driveway to the garden beyond. Spacious long bathroom. Excellent shower pressure. Separate bath. King size bed, electric blankets, king size bottom pillow and lovely bed linen. Breakfast is around a long oval ended dining table. Choice of three juices, kept cold by sitting in a basin filled with ice. Yoghurt, fresh fruits, nuts and seeds at one table. On the dresser top there were cold meats and cheeses accompanied with pots of two mustards. There was a tray of quiche slices and tray of different breads and croissants. On the table we’re individual servings of butter and jams. Pots of tea and coffee were brought to individuals upon request. The Rivulet is directly across from the Derwent River and the Wrestpoint Casino. Short drive or walk to Sandy Bay shopping district or into Hobart City.

Amazing place and outstanding service. The place is beautiful: elegant colonial building and the beautifully furnished rooms. We spent 4 nights at the spacious regatta suite. Breakfast was excellent and Denise was very kind - it was nice to dine together with the other guests and chat. The only downsides are that the place is located on a busy road across from a gas station. Yet, once you are inside you cannot hear that.

Very well presented room, spacious with huge bathroom including a bath and some goodies offered. Only reason not 5 stars is because housekeeping missed areas of dust and a few other things not quite right with the room, ie light switch broken, noisy bathroom fan and one electric blanket control did not work. Very nice breakfast, but we are not fans of 'en famille' dining.

Our stay at the Rivulet was incredible - was blown away by the room. It was beautiful and spacious. Being able to have parking and breakfast incredible was an amazing touch. It was so charming and I couldn't recommend it more - will absolutely stay again.

We loved our short stay at the Rivulet and our room was spacious, well appointed and with a luxurious extra wide bed. We were aware of a shower running in another room but overall we had a very comfortable stay. The grounds and the amenities and on-site parking were also much appreciated. Very well located on Sandy Bay Road with a bus stop almost at the door. Robert and Kathy both helped us have an enjoyable break in Hobart. Definitely recommend, we will certainly be back.
